Chapter 17: Taming strays
Penny Polendina was having a great time!
It was only yesterday when Penny made a lot of friends! Eight to be exact! Friend Jaune told her that friends are just strangers that you haven't met yet! Since they have all met, then they are already friends!
It has been less than 24 hours since and they are already hanging out again in Vale! Father would be proud of Penny when she tells him!
Right now, she is spending her time with Friend Ruby Rose after separating with Friends Weiss and Yang! Friend Jaune told Penny that Friend Ruby needed help making friends.
It seems he was right, because Friend Ruby has already lost a friend! And as her friend, it is Penny's duty to help find a lost friend!
"So, Blake is your friend?" Penny asks to clarify.
Friend Ruby sighs at that.
"Yes, Penny. Blake is my friend."
"But you're mad at her?"
"Yes. Well, I'm not. Weiss is."
"Is she friends with Blake?"
Friend Ruby frowns at the question.
"Well, that's kind of up in the air right now."
Penny does not understand this answer. She can only think of people as friends or not friends.
"But why?" Penny tries to contemplate this.
"Well, you see, Blake might not be who we thought she was…" Friend Ruby sighs.
"Is she a man?" Penny gasps at that.
"No! No, Penny. She's… I don't know what she is. She didn't exactly talk to us before she decided to run off."
It seems Friend Ruby is not the only one who needs help making friends. Friend Jaune should know that Friend Blake also needs help.
"..I have only recently made a lot of friends, and if one of them wants to run off, I would like them to talk to me about things."
"..Me too, Penny. Me too…" Friend Ruby sighs again, turning her gaze downwards.
Just before Penny could think of words to comfort her new friend, they hear a ping from Friend Ruby's scroll. Reading the message she received, Friend Ruby's eyes widened.
"Jaune found Blake!" Friend Ruby gasps out.
"Where are they?!" Penny can only ask in amazement.
Friend Jaune is amazing! He works fast!
"He said that Blake wants to spend some time by herself first. Jaune will stay with her to keep her safe and let us know how she is." Friend Ruby answers slowly, sad that Friend Blake does not want to talk to them yet.
"Do not worry Friend Ruby! If Friend Jaune is with her, then she is in good hands!" Penny tries to comfort her friend with a smile.
After all, Friend Jaune is wise in making friends! If there is someone who can make them friends again then it is Friend Jaune!
Friend Ruby bites her lips at first before relaxing her face and letting out a breath. It seems Penny's words worked, because Friend Ruby is now letting out a small smile.
"You're right, Penny. Plus there's Pyrrha there to keep them away from trouble."
"Pyrrha? I thought it was Friend Pyrene?" Penny tilts her head in confusion.
"Pyrene! That's what I said, there's no Pyrrha here. Hahaha." Ruby responds with a nervous smile.
Penny just looks at her friend at that outburst.
"Right! I gotta let Weiss and Yang know!" Unable to endure the stare, Ruby blurts out to change the topic.
Penny only lets out a smile at that. If Friend Ruby is smiling again, then that's good enough for Penny.
Weiss Schnee, SDC Heiress, is currently looking for someone who may or may not be a current member of the White Fang.
"Blakeeee! Blake! Where are you?!" Yang continues to shout as they exit another store.
If Weiss was following normal SDC protocol then she should be putting more distance between them and let the authorities handle it, but this is not a normal situation. The person of interest is their team member, Blake.
"Do you really care if we find her? You've been quiet for a while now." Yang asks her with a frown.
"It's not that simple Yang." Weiss sighs out.
"Then make it simple, explain it to me." Yang replies while crossing her arms.
"I…of course I care about her. But…she was in the White Fang, Yang. I can't just ignore that."
"Does it matter?"
"YES, it matters!"
They are both quiet after that outburst for a moment before Weiss decides to continue.
"When I was 13, a daughter of one of the Board Executives of the company was taken hostage by the White Fang. Her name was Lilac. I couldn't call her a friend because we knew we were introduced to each other purely out of business interests, but she was the closest one to it. It was the first time that I really understood that we were at war. To think that it could have been me that was kidnapped. Father said we don't deal with terrorists and just ignored the issue."
What if it was me that was kidnapped? Would my father even negotiate for my release?
"...I'm sorry, Weiss."
"It's fine. I never really knew what happened to Lilac after that because her father suddenly left the company. And with that, there was no more reason for the company to keep tabs on them."
Weiss takes a moment to collect herself from relieving those days. Those were the days that she really understood her life was dangerous. Just by being a Schnee, she already has enemies after her life.
"I would like to think that she got saved or somehow got out of that situation." Weiss continues as she remembers Lilac and the time they spent commiserating with each other being daughters of businessmen.
"But you said it yourself Weiss, you were 13. Do you really think Blake was involved in those kinds of things when she's our age?"
"I don't know Yang. I don't know. I know I can't blame her for every single thing, but she was part of the White Fang. I can't just ignore that."
"I'm not saying we should ignore it. But even you have to admit that the time we spent together with her was real."
"..Yes, I know for a fact that we did bond as a team. We had great teamwork even during Initiation. But right now, I am still conflicted. The best I could do right now is talk to her, and after that…we'll see."
"...That's all we're asking for. Just give her a chance." Yang answers with a smile.
"...It doesn't matter if we can't find her though." Weiss points out.
Yang can only groan at that. But before Yang could continue to complain, they hear a notification from their scrolls. Reading the message from Ruby, both their eyes widen in surprise.
"Wow! VB coming in clutch! Looks like he and Pyrrha found Blake." Yang exclaims in surprise.
"...Yes it would seem so." Weiss says in quiet disbelief.
It would seem that the dolt is not as useless as he looks.
"Ha! Looks like Jaune's becoming more reliable, huh? Don't you think so, Weiss-cream?" Yang teases with a smirk.
"Hmph! Loathe as I am to admit, there has certainly been improvements in the dolt's behavior." Weiss replies haughtily.
"Ho? What's this? Is the ice queen warming up to our knight in shining armor?"
"I am not! I am simply making an observation. Besides, it's not as if he has successfully returned Blake to Beacon yet."
"Yeah, yeah, come on. Let's meet up with Rubes. If Blake wants time to herself, then Jaune and Pyrrha could look after her for a while. What's the worst that could happen?"
Weiss frowns in thoughtfulness as she follows Yang.
Indeed. What is the worst that could happen?
Jaune Arc and his friends were currently surrounded by members of the Xiong Crime Family.
Leading his friends to Junior's club, Jaune expected it would be a casual affair at best or a business transaction at worst. He really should have expected that it wouldn't be that simple considering that he and his friends were obviously armed.
He couldn't exactly hide Crocea Mors' sheath in his pockets, and with Pyrrha and Blake carrying their own gear on their person, they looked armed and ready to storm a place.
Standing in front of Junior's Club, they are blocked by a group of men and currently drawing more attention.
"Don't move! What's your business here strangers?!" A henchman wearing a suit with a red tie announces, as his companions surround Jaune and his friends with guns pointed at them.
Before Jaune could even answer the man, Sun brings out his Gun-Chucks which apparently also connect into a Bo Staff.
"Woohoo! Finally some action!" Sun exclaims with excitement. Which causes both Blake and Pyrrha to also bring their weapons out.
Jaune's eyes widen at the quick progression of events.
"No! No action! We're just here to talk. We just have some business with Junior!" He intervenes with his palms out to deescalate the situation while glaring at Sun.
"I found that hard to believe considering you're armed and dangerous!" The henchman shouts back.
"Promise! We've done business before! We're not here to fight!" Jaune tries to reply, but the men just glare at him.
Before the situation could come to blows, Jaune hears two familiar voices.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't Cherry Boy." A girl in a white dress calls out with an arrogant smirk.
"Or should we call you Lover Boy now?" A girl in a red dress follows up with a shy smile.
Jaune blushes as all eyes turn to him at that greeting.
Melanie and Militia Malachite, also known as the Malachite Sisters, announce their presence respectively. Twins who would be indistinguishable from each other if it weren't for the color of their dresses.
"Last time you were here," Melanie walks forward while swaying her hips.
"You told us you were on your way to Beacon." Militia adds as she follows her twin.
"To be a hero and a ladies man, if I remember."
"We didn't expect you'd come back so soon."
"And with two cat girls and a stud in tow, are they for us?"
"You sure work fast, Jaune."
Jaune's face explodes in a blush at the insinuations. With everyone staring at him, he can only laugh nervously. He avoids looking at Blake and Pyrrha, not having the heart to take in their gobsmacked expressions.
Confidence, Jaune. Fake it till you make it. Need to arrange a meeting with Junior ASAP.
"..Hello ladies, we're here to see Junior?" Jaune replies awkwardly while rubbing the back of his head. Jaune wanted for it to come out as a statement but his nerves made it into a question.
"Oh, are you? Can't even spare us a few moments to talk?" Melanie narrows her eyes at him as she starts to approach his personal space.
Shit! Time for damage control!
But before he can reply, Militia interrupts his train of thought.
"Forgive us for the reception, Jaune. But a huntress-in-training wrecked the club a few months ago" Militia apologizes with a softer smile.
"So you'd surely understand why we're wary with a group armed and ready to fight, right?" Melanie counters, while pointing to Sun, Blake, and Pyrrha who still have their weapons out.
"Guys! Put it down." Jaune says as he turns to his friends behind him. There's a moment of hesitation before Pyrrha puts Milo and Akuo down. With that, Blake follows and Sun puts his gun-chucks down last.
"There, could we go see Junior now, please?"
"How would we know you won't cause trouble when we let you in?" Melanie asks.
"We'd need assurance that none of you would cause trouble." Militia clarifies.
With no time to think, he suggests the first thing that comes to mind based on his past experiences with shady people.
"Uhhh…You could blackmail me?" Jaune blurts out in a panic. Immediately facepalming in his own mind.
Why did I think about Cardin when thinking about shady people?
Silence engulfs the area after his suggestion, before there is laughter from the twins.
"Hahaha! This is the first time I've had someone suggest that we blackmail them!" Melanie laughs out loud, abandoning her initial seductive and haughty posture.
"It's okay everyone! Jaune's a friend here. They can come inside." Militia announces towards the members of the Xiong Family. Finally inviting Jaune and his friends to enter the club.
"I'll have you know, that isn't enough of a collateral. We could blackmail you anytime we want." Melanie initiates with a smirk.
Before Jaune could even ask what more she could want, Militia interrupts.
"We could talk about that inside. Have a seat first and we'll let you know when you could talk to Junior."
"Thanks Militia." Jaune thanks Militia who he has pegged is a bit more softer than her twin sister.
Melanie rolls her eyes at that, and ever the wilder one, suggests they have drinks while waiting for Junior.
"Well come on then, let's get you and your friends some drinks and catch up." Melanie announces with a smirk.
Following the twins inside the club, Jaune sees members of the Xiong Clan giving them wary looks with hands going to their weapons. The only thing stopping these people from starting a fight is Melanie and Militia leading them with a smile.
Crap. I did not think this through. What did I get us into?
Sun Wukong was very confused.
When Pyr and her partner, Jaune, found them in Tukson's Bookstore this morning he pegged Jaune as an earnest dude just worried for his friends going by how willing he is to look for Blake. Sun remembers him as the guy who tried to catch him back at the docks. So he could probably add law-abiding do-gooder to the list of things he thought of Jaune as.
Overall he thinks Jaune Arc is just a simple do-gooder with no tragic backstory like running away from the White Fang or home or something. That was his first impression of the guy anyway.
Hearing him say that he knew an information broker immediately cracked that first impression. Watching him talk down members of a crime family just showed Sun how wrong he was about the guy. Jaune Arc was not as simple as he thought.
Another thing that's been confusing to Sun was the looks that Jaune has been giving him. Call him crazy or not….but the guy's kinda feeling….weird. Still, it's not like Jaune's picking a fight with him so Sun will just let it slide.
Entering the club, Sun and his new friends see the dance floor down below the stairway in front of them with the DJ booth on the opposite side of the hall. Three crystalline pillars on each side surround the dance floor in the middle.
They see a few people dancing to the music under light from the laser and holographic projectors from the ceiling.
"Huh. There's a lot less people here than I remember." Jaune points out.
"You can thank a crazy blonde bimbo for that. Went crazy and trashed the club out of nowhere." Melanie grumbles out.
"It's why we're trying to be tight with security nowadays." Militia looks at Jaune apologetically.
Leading them to the seats on the overhanging balconies to the left, Sun and his newfound friends finally get some time alone as the Malachite Sisters go find Junior.
Finally getting some time to breathe, Sun tries to have Pyr sit next to him, but it's Blake who sits beside him with Pyr sandwiched between her and Jaune across from Sun..
There's that look again. Sun notes Jaune shooting him a look.
Wanting to get to the bottom of this weird tension between the two of them, Sun tries to initiate conversation.
"So dude, how do you know these people?" Sun asks with a smile.
Sun sees Jaune give Pyr a look as both Pyr and Blake also look at him, interested in his answer.
Looks like Pyr at least has an idea about this.
Jaune gives a nervous laugh.
"It's a long story actually." Jaune deflects while rubbing the back of his head.
"We've got time." Sun counters with a smile
"I must admit I am curious how you know these people, Jaune." Blake adds her thoughts while Pyr stays silent but nods in interest as well.
Sun lets out a grin from Blake's support.
Being cornered from all sides. Jaune has no choice but to spill.
"Well, it started when I-"
"HEY! We're back, and we brought some drinks!" Melanie, the twin in the white dress, calls out as she sits next to Sun.
"Junior will call for you soon. In the meantime, why don't you introduce us to your new friends, Jaune?" Militia, the twin in the red dress adds as she sits next to Jaune.
"Great timing! We were just asking Jaune how he met you two!" Sun responds with a smile.
"HAHAHAHA! Want me to tell them, Cherry Boy?" Melanie laughs out loud.
There's that nickname again.
Sun sees Jaune groan in embarrassment while covering his face.
"It is a funny story." Militia giggles in support.
"So it started a few months ago, just before Beacon's Initiatio-" Melanie starts telling a story.
When someone interrupts them.
"Excuse me Ma'am, but Junior will see your guests now." One of the men wearing a suit with red tie comes over to their lounge and calls out to them.
"What the hell?! We didn't even have time to drink and tell a story!" Melanie complains
"Yes sister, it is odd that Uncle would call so suddenly when he told us he'll call later when he's ready." Militia comforts her sister with a pout.
Jaune just breathes a sigh of relief.
"Well come on guys, time to ask our questions." Jaune says, standing up and following the twins to Junior's Office.
Entering the office, Sun sees a tall bearded man wearing white long-sleeves topped by a vest with a red tie sitting on his luxurious chair behind a table..
"Well, well, well. If it isn't the Beacon kid. A hunter-in-training now I presume. What can I do for you? Need someone to disappear? A new identity? Falsified documents?" The man greets them, looking at Jaune the whole time.
Sun sees Pyr bristle and look at Jaune nervously from the questions thrown at him.
"Hey Junior….I'm here to ask some questions." Jaune laughs out nervously taking a seat across from Junior.
"Information then. It will cost you."
"I know. We're here about the White Fang." Just like that Jaune drops his nervousness and states his objective with determination.
Silence envelops the room for a moment. Sun can feel the tension rising as two men look at each other in the eyes.
"Again, it will cost you." Junior replies gravely.
"I know. I'm willing to pay the price."
Junior chuckles at that.
"Oh. It's not about the money this time."
"Then what do you want?" Jaune replies confusedly.
"What I want is my business to prosper. You've seen the dance floor for sure."
"We did, there's fewer people than last time I was here."
"Yes, I'm sure my nieces have already told you why." Junior replies nodding at the twins.
"Something about a blonde trashing the club."
"Which ran off my usual patrons of course. What could you give me that would help me attract people?" Junior follows up with a grin.
Thinking about that question, Sun remembers the parties he and his team organized back in Haven. A place like this just needs the right kind of party and exposure to attract people.
With a grin on his face and an opportunity to impress Pyr, he moves to volunteer when Jaune beats him to the punch.
Sun sees Jaune looking at them and points toward him.
"You can have him for the night."
What the fuck? Did I just get pimped out?
"What the fu-" Sun starts to exclaim before he squeaks as Melanie suddenly steps towards him and puts her hands on his exposed abs.
"Oooohhh. Blonde, blue eyes, tanned, ripped, and with a monkey tail that we can use? Jaune, you spoil us." Melanie lets out with a sultry smirk towards Sun.
"Eeep! Uhm! We can do a party! Entertain a lot of people and they will attract other people!" Sun says in a panic.
"Wow, an entertainer too huh. I wonder what other skills you have." Melanie responds with half-lidded eyes.
"I need an adult." Sun laughs out nervously, overwhelmed by this aggressively forward woman.
"Don't worry young man. I'm 23. I'm an adult. I can take care of you." Melanie replies slowly with a silky voice.
Sun gulps at that. Looking to his friends for help, he sees Blake smirking at him and Pyr smiling apologetically.
"I…uhm. I need Pyr to help me do the party!"
Sun sees Pyr blink at that while pointing at herself.
"Me?"
"Yes! You! Come on, let's go!" Sun calls out, maneuvering out of Melanie's hold and grabbing Pyr's hand while running to the dance floor.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Sun hears Melanie call out.
And so Sun Wukong runs out with Pyr to the dance floor and DJ booth, thinking of how in the world did he go from sneaking into a ship to Vale, spending a night in jail, meeting defectors of the White Fang, entering a nightclub to talk to an information broker, and finally trying to plan and do a quick party to attract more people to said night club.
Overall, it's been a confusing time for Sun Wukong. But hey, at least he gets to dance with a pretty lady like Pyr. With a grin on his face, he imagines making good memories tonight. He doesn't notice Jaune's angry glare and Blake's frown as he leaves them back in Junior's Office.
Junior was just having a normal night, drinking some brandy, thinking of ways to make his business more prosperous. Really, just a normal night for the boss of a crime family.
But everything changed when Roman Torchwick's partner just magically appeared in his office.
Fucking Broken Semblances
When you have an impromptu meeting with a mute you would expect it to at least be quiet and calm. Whoever thought of that must have never met Neopolitan. Because Neo conducted aggressive negotiations with judicious use of her sword.
"No Neo, I don't have the men to lend Roman." Junior sighs out.
Neo types in her phone and stabs at the air after sending it to Junior.
"Yes, I know that it's a big operation in the docks, but we just got back on our feet." Junior replies.
There was nothing calm about the typing and stabbing happening in his office.
"What do you mean why were we down? We got our asses handed to us months ago when someone trashed the club. Not to mention the guys arrested from the Dust Shop robbery with Roman that same night. Roman already told you about this" Junior rolls his eyes at the midget's forgetfulness.
Type, glare, and finger pointing from Neo to Junior.
"No, I did not think of you as a midget. Yes, you would need to go with Roman tomorrow night at the docks if you can't find guys to replace the White Fang that got arrested." Junior sighs.
Neo types and mimes strangling Junior.
"Yes, Neo. I'm sorry that you have to pull double shifts with babysitting the White Fang. But the Xiong Family cannot help in this endeavor of yours." Junior apologizes as he sees Neo let out a frustrated sigh.
Neo glares at Junior before disappearing through the breaking sound of glass.
"Tell Roman he still owes me my guys he got arrested!" Junior shouts out, not really sure if Neo heard him or not, but needing to have the last word.
Everything he told Neo was true, at least the one that they were lacking men currently for big operations like the one at the docks. But Junior has his own reasons for refusing to work together.
The White Fang is being too violent, they rock the boat too much and that's bad for business.
Junior thinks to himself as he gets a drink of his favorite brandy. Speaking of business, the club still hasn't recovered enough. The place might have been repaired but people still aren't coming in droves like the nights before the attack.
Sighing to himself, he calls out to one of his guards by the door to call his nieces and their guest.
Taking one last sip of brandy behind his office table, Junior watches his nieces lead two blondes and two black-haired cat ladies. He remembers the blonde kid who came to him months ago just before his club got trashed.
Jaune Arc, if he got into Beacon with my forgeries, what more could he want now? Regardless, business is business, and who knows this might be an opportunity to revive the club.
It turns out that the kid is here for information, and wouldn't you know it, he's asking about the White Fang. The group that has been rocking the boat in Vale so much.
Still, Junior can't just give him information for free, even if it would help him. So a price had to be negotiated.
Deciding to kill two nevermores with one bullet, he will only answer questions if the kid could think of a way to help Junior's Club.
And the kid does not disappoint. With just a moment to take in the deal, the kid points to one of his friends and throws him under the bus so to speak.
Damn, did he just pimp out his friend like that?
The kid does this with a decisiveness Junior would often see with criminal bosses. If he didn't know any bother, he'd say that Jaune Arc is actually a crime boss in disguise. Sadly, he knows the truth. The kid's naive to the bones if the way he lost his wallet the first time they met was true.
Watching the blonde faunus run away from his nieces with one of the cat ladies, Junior smirks at the entertainment of seeing Jaune's fists clench with jealousy and anger.
Ha! Seems it was just a way to keep another guy away from his girl which backfired.
Amused at the situation, Junior gets straight to business.
"So what do you want to know about the White Fang?"
That snaps the kid from his anger, and looks back at Junior. Yet it is his partner that speaks.
"We're looking for the White Fang." The black-haired cat lady speaks.
Just to take charge of the conversation, Junior decides to be annoying.
Let's see if I can't get another boon from this.
"They're in Vale kitty-cat." Junior smirks.
"We know that! I mean, what are they doing in Vale?"
"Robbing Dust Shops." Junior grins at the increasingly furious female.
The Faunus growls at him and smashes her palms on his table.
"Blake, calm down. You're not asking the right questions." Jaune says to his friend, putting a hand on her own.
So that's her name. Blake….Black hair, cat faunus, interested in the White Fang? Hmmm…..
"Why are they stealing Dust?" Jaune interrupts Junior's thoughts with his question.
"Probably for their war against the SDC." Junior throws out nonchalantly, watching for Jaune's reaction.
"Come on Junior, everyone knows that you know everyone in Vale. You're the best at dealing with information, surely you could do better than that?" Jaune throws back with a smile.
Heh. Stroking my ego at the same time questioning my skills? Not as naive as before I guess.
"Heh. You're right. You're not as naive as before huh." Junior jokes with Jaune.
"I had to learn some day, right?" Jaune replies bashfully.
"Still that kind of information would cause you." Junior acknowledges Jaune's reply.
"I thought the price was us helping you bring in more people to the club?" Jaune responds confusedly.
"That was the price for getting to ask me questions, not for getting the answers. Call it an entrance fee if you will." Junior smirks, happy that he could pull another favor from the kid.
Jaune thinks on that a bit before replying.
"But don't you want to stop the White Fang too? All this violence probably isn't good for your business." Jaune points out loud, trying to shake off Junior from getting another favor from him.
"That's true, but I could just as easily share the information to the police or even Beacon if I wanted to. Why should I share it with you?" Junior replies with a grin, not willing to let the kid off the hook.
"What if we exchange information with you?" Blake interrupts from the side.
Jaune looks curiously at her but lets her take the lead.
"Oh? Information for information, huh? I like it. So what do you have for me?" Junior answers.
Before Blake can answer, Jaune interrupts her this time.
"It doesn't work that way. You answer us first, before we give you our information. After all, we've already paid the entrance fee, remember?" Jaune throws Junior's words back at him.
"Heh, alright. We don't know why they're stealing a lot of Dust, but we do know that the Dust they steal isn't getting smuggled out of Vale." Junior nods at Jaune's reply and answers the previous question.
"Which means it's still in Vale. Where are they keeping it?" Blake replies in realization.
"Correct, but you're turn first kitty-cat. What information do you have for me?"
"...My name is Blake Bella-" Blake starts to answer.
"Belladonna, Princess of the Faunus, and daughter of the Chief of Menagerie. Yes, yes, I know who you are. Tell me something useful" Junior interrupts, rolling his eyes at Blake's attempted answer.
"You're a princess?!" Jaune looks wide-eyed at Blake.
"Technically I'm just the daughter of the Chief." Blake replies with a wince.
"We're getting sidetracked kids, back to your information." Junior interrupts before they can forget.
"Sorry, just surprised is all." Jaune replies bashfully.
"..Alright…Adam Taurus….do you know him?" Blake answers slowly.
The name gets Junior to sit up straight while Jaune just looks on curiously.
"I know of him…a White Fang cell leader that led heists on the SDC in Atlas. Violent, aggressive, and brutal to humans. What about him?"
"If you know of him…then you know that when he gets here things will get violent."
That gets Junior's eyes to widen in shock.
"When he gets here?! That crazy psycho is coming here?! To Vale?! Why? Vale isn't as racist as Atlas. He has no reason to come here!"
"..He's coming for me. We were lovers before I left the White Fang." Blake answers with a wince.
Holy shit. This changes everything. If this is true, then that means that things will just keep heating up in Vale.
"..Fuck. That's certainly useful alright." Is all that Junior could say, as Jaune looks to Blake in concern.
"...Now tell us where the White Fang is hiding the Dust?" Jaune asks, letting Blake keep her silence for a while.
Looking at his two guests, Junior thinks about the question. He doesn't actually know where they are hiding the Dust, but he knows where the White Fang will be tomorrow night….together with a certain thief and his partner.
"Look, I can't point you to where they're hiding it because they keep moving it. I could tell you where the Dust is now but there's no guarantee that they'll still be there when you get there." Junior lies, not willing to admit he isn't that good of an information broker.
"Then what can you tell us?" Jaune answers with a frown as Blake glares at him.
"I could tell you where they will be tomorrow night."
"Where?"
Thinking about the consequences, he could tell them and risk Neopolitan stabbing him in his sleep, or he could lie to them and let the White Fang gather more Dust.
"The Docks, there's an incoming shipment of SDC Dust coming in from Atlas. The White Fang are scheduled to pick it up and smuggle it somewhere." Junior answers, deciding that hindering the White Fang would be better for his business.
Besides, it's not like Roman would know that the information leak came from me. They'd probably think that it came from those animals that got arrested yesterday.
