The Heavyweight Championship was being held at the Aztec Arena, located within the Conquistador Hotel & Casino in fabulous Las Vegas, NV. Killer Putulski, the reigning champion, would be fighting to defend his title against opponent Dwight Johnson. This event brought together the lives of three women and their love of boxing.
A black woman with blonde hair entered a changing room. Tonight was her first night working at the arena, and she was excited. "This is gonna be great!"
Just then, a Latina woman with orange hair entered the room. "Oh! Hola!"
"Hey there! You're working tonight's match too?"
"Si! It's my first night."
"Same! I'm Roxanne! Roxanne Williams!"
"Pleased to meet you! Shanelle Dominguez!"
The women shook hands.
"You've been in Vegas long?"
"Not long. I just recently moved here."
"Me too. I'm from Washington D.C."
"Santo Domingo. In the Dominican Republic."
"Wow! What brought you out here to the dessert?"
"I wanted to be where the excitement is nonstop! How 'bout you?"
"Same! I wanna live life outside my neighborhood and experience new things!
"Guess that makes us peas in a pod!"
"Guess so!"
Just then, an Asian woman with black hair entered the room. "Sorry. Hope I'm not interrupting anything."
"No. It's fine," said Roxanne.
"Come join us," said Shanelle.
"Thanks!" said the Asian woman. "You guys workin' tonight too?"
"Yeah!" said Roxanne.
"First night?" asked Shanelle.
"Yep!" said the Asian woman. "Name's Monique! Monique Kato!"
"Roxanne!"
"Shanelle!"
The two of them shook Monique's hands.
"So if we had to guess…" said Roxanne.
"You're new to Vegas too?" said Shanelle.
"Yep!" said Monique. "Came all the way from motherland Japan!"
"Oooh!" said Roxanne and Shanelle.
"Then you definitely must be skilled!" said Roxanne.
"Oh I'm skilled alright!" said Monique.
"Well, glad to have you with us!" said Shanelle.
"Thanks!"
The girls changed out of their regular clothes and into boxing outfits. Roxanne changed into a purple outfit. Shanelle changed into a blue outfit. Monique changed into a green outfit.
"How do I look?" said Shanelle.
"Like a flamin' bluejay!" said Roxanne.
"Hey! I like that!"
"I'm diggin' this!" said Monique.
"I'll say!" say Roxanne.
"It even matches your green lipstick!" said Shanelle.
"Yeah it does!" said Monique.
The girls laughed. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door.
"Come in!" said Roxanne.
The door opened, and the arena manager entered the room.
"Evening ladies!" said the manager. "Hope I'm not intruding."
"Not at all. We've been getting a chance to know each other."
"And we get along just fine!" said Shanelle.
"True that!" said Monique.
"Great!" said the manager. "Tonight's gonna be big! We've got the Heavyweight Championship goin' on! So be sure to give it your all and have fun out there!"
"We will!" said the girls.
"Good! See you out there!" The manager left the room.
"Alright!" said Roxanne. "What do you say we do something to get us pumped up?!"
"How 'bout a triple fist bump?!" said Shanelle.
"I'm down with that!" said Monique.
The girls placed their fists together.
"Showtime in three!" said Roxanne.
"Two!" said Shanelle.
"One!" said Monique.
The girls did a triple fist bump. "Showtime!"
The Heavyweight Championship was underway. Putulski and Johnson went head to head punching and striking each other. The girls rotated between rounds working as ring girls. The audience was amazed by their energy and attractiveness. Twelve rounds in, Putulski finally got knocked out, making Johnson the new Heavyweight Champion of the World.
After the event had ended, the girls hung out at the hotel bar. While they were there, they talked about how they each took up boxing back in their hometowns and made excellent careers out of them.
"That was some fight, wasn't it?!" said Roxanne.
"I'll say!" said Shanelle. "Putulski kept getting the wind punched out of him!"
"'Bout time someone showed him what for!" said Monique.
The girls laughed.
"But you know what?" said Roxanne. "I really had a lot of fun tonight!"
"Me too!" said Shanelle.
"Me three!" said Monique.
"I mean, despite coming from different parts of the world," said Roxanne, "we're here because we love boxing! I think we're gonna be the best of friends!"
"I like the sound of that!" said Shanelle.
"Definitely look forwards to it!" said Monique.
The girls raised their glasses. "Cheers!"
And so, the three girls began a long lasting friendship. Whenever they weren't working, they went to a local gym to train and exercise together. They often went to nightclubs to have fun and dance the night away. They eventually decided to move in together and become apartment roommates.
One day…
"Hey!" said Roxanne. "How about we form our own boxing team?!"
"Oooh! Do tell!" said Shanelle.
"I'm all ears!" said Monique.
"Well," said Roxanne, "we're pretty excellent boxers, but I think there's still more that we can do! So we should keep on boxing! Not for competition! But to have fun!"
"Sounds muy buena, chica!" said Shanelle. "But what are we gonna talk ourselves?"
"Yeah!" said Monique. "It's gotta be something that shows off our fierceness and attractiveness!"
"Well, I've been thinking," said Roxanne. "Everyone knows us from working as ring girls at the Aztec Arena. And we do kind of make the crowds explode whenever we appear in the ring. So how about we call ourselves… the Aztec Bombshells?!"
"Excelente!" said Shanelle.
"I'm down with it!" said Monique.
The girls placed their fists together.
"Here's to the Bombshells!" said Roxanne.
"To the Bombshells!" said Shanelle and Monique.
They did a triple fist bump to commemorate the founding of their newly formed team.
