I chose six months, because it works best for the plot ( The Naraku must die Squad meet Suijin six months later) but it also fits better for Nathan. It is enough to have some skills, but not so much time he is op. You can learn a shit ton in six months of daily training but not so much you ruin plots by being all knowing.

Thoughts?

I want to show real training, for at least a couple chapters.

Dawn of the Next Day

"Nathan, this is Ren, leader of my gaurds." Suijin gestured to a crab looking man in a purple set of samurai-ish armor. "And this is Chiyo, head of my library." She pointed to an older, turtle looking woman. "They are both sprites, they serve me in many ways. Since you are to be my vassal, and I wish for you to survive this cold world of ours, Ren will educate you on combat whole Chiyo on magic."

Nathan offered a smile, warm as he could make it. "I am in your care."

Ren sniffed at him. "You look frail."

"I have survived a lot, sir. My life has not been easy, I am stronger than I look." He turned to Chiyo. "I am able to read, in more than one language."

Chiyo smiled. "Good... very good, child."

Ren sighed. "I will have a servant wake up up at dawn, then after you bath you will come to me for your training. From there, you will rest then work with Chiyo for a few hours. When you find what magic you find suits you most, you will focus on that. Since both magic and combat takes energy, you will also spend time educating yourself on this world. Our history, your lives, our time. Sound good?"

"Perfect."

Suijin smiled. "I am glad to see you all getting along. I will leave you too it."

After she left, Ren lead Nathan away to a distant room, one filled with weapons. " These weapons have all been blessed by enchanted by Chiyo, who is a master sorceress. They are made durable, able to touch demons without shattering on impact. Extreme forces can break them but it is not easy. You can also use the blade to channel spells, so there is that. Pick one, and we will assess your potential. Once we find the right one, you will train in it."

Nathan frowned, before grabbing a katana. "This is fine, it gives me range, defense and offense." He sighed, looking at his average size. "I really need the range I think."

The Crab nodded. "I can work with that... follow me." They moved to another room, one with a garden view. "I will show you how to move, basic slashes and stabs. Your training will involve that, meditation and a variety of other techniques to bolster your body and mind. The mind is a tool as vital as the body! Part of your studies will involve strategy, healing, and a variety of other subjects that will make you a worthy vassal."

"""

"Life essence is the key to Magic, drawing on your innate energy as well as the energy of outside forces. Herbs, minerals, blood, and other things can magnify the energy you draw on, but you must be careful to not over extend your power and fall to death." Chiyo started. "My goal is to grant you the skills needs to use all forms of magic, be it healing, barriers, offensive, practical, and divination. With that, you should be able to be a worthy vassal to our mistress."

Nathan nodded. "I understand, and I will."

"Magic, this form of it, is controlled by intellect and practice not emotion. It is not an instinctive power, unlike spiritual or demonic power. It can do anything though, so there is that. You can do almost anything with it. I will be teaching you to do almost anything, so you must work hard. Can you do that?"

He nodded once more. "I will do what I must."

"Good... good... now... to start, we must expose you to magic." She pulled off a cowrie shell necklace. "This holds the breathe of life, hold and it breathe in the energy."

The boy did as she asked, and the moment he breathed it in, his almost fell over as horrible heat burned in him. "It hurts..." His every cell ached, he almost screamed from it... and then it ceased, with a magnetic feeling pushing her and his energy drawing together... and he felt the simplicity of power, his own energy radiating in his cells... and even as the burning ceased entirely, he still felt the power residing within him. "I can feel it... like a dull radiance in my body."

"Now that you can feel it, you must learn to pull on it, to focus that power into spells. Meditation is the key, as it intelligence and practice. You must learn by doing and learning, not by feeling. So, we will work on that, but it will take some time. Now... let us start by breathing in your own energy, simply pushing your mind towards it, getting to feel it like a new limb."

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
