And here we are with a new story. I had been thinking about writing a Tangled and Owl House crossover when this idea popped into my head. Thus, how we got here.

Disclaimer: I don't own anything related to The Owl House or Danny Phantom. I only own this story and any minor OCs I create.

The Fentons were a strange family. It was hard to believe that any family would admit to being witch hunters. Most people didn't even believe in those things.

Madeleine "Maddie" Fenton was a known genius, tech developer, and now a witch hunter. She married Jack Fenton, a decent inventor despite his bungling and clumsy nature. Jack had been inspired into this line of work by dairies left by his ancestor John Fentonightingale, a self-proclaimed witch hunter from Salem, Massachusetts. His journals spoke of another world home to wicked witches and demons called the Demon Realm. According to him, the Fentons had always been close to the supernatural.

Together, Jack and Maddie built a business known as Fenton Works. Their goal was not only to prove the existence of witches and demons but to also make technology to combat them. They would often take trips all over the world, looking for witchy and demonic artifacts. The stuff they did find often had some historical value but nothing supernatural, which was what Jack cared about. Thankfully Maddie was more big-picture and used their discoveries to help fund their home and business.

Along the way, they also started a family of their own. Their first child was a daughter named Jasmine Fenton. Two years later, they had a son named Daniel Fenton.

Jasmine, known as Jazz, didn't believe in witches and demons. She focused more on logic, facts, and getting into a good college. She often took it upon herself to act like a parent for her brother, thinking he needed some kind of normalcy.

As for Daniel, better known as Danny, he wasn't sure what he believed in. He grew up hearing stories about witches and demons and often joined his parents on summer trips to look for their artifacts. When Danny was younger, he believed in his father's stories and was curious about his parents' work. Now, they just seemed like silly stories.

Danny wasn't a kid anymore. He was a fourteen-year-old trying to figure out where he fit while having a rough time in high school.

At Casper High, if a student wasn't a jock, a cheerleader, or one of the cool kids, they had it rough. It also didn't help that the vice-principal, who was also a teacher, was big on discipline unless someone was an athlete or a valedictorian. The jocks got away with so much that even going to the principal didn't do anything since Mr. Lancer always assured Principal Ishiyama that he had everything under control. Ishiyama focused on studies and managing the various programs the school runs. She also had her own classes to oversee, leaving the discipline to Lancer. She trusted Lancer, but it was clear he played favorites. If someone didn't fit his views, he didn't hold back. It made it easy for the jocks to find out who to mess with and who to leave alone.

Danny was the target of the jocks, one in particular. Dash Baxter. Baxter was captain of the football and basketball teams and was the star of several other sports teams. He was one of the cool kids, the big man on campus, always putting Danny down.

The point was school was trash. Danny's only saving graces at school were his best friends, Sam and Tucker.

Sam Manson, his goth friend, came from a wealthy family but didn't care about popularity or fake friends. She often gave him advice and a shoulder to lean on. Sam was all about being comfortable in your own skin and being true to yourself. She was also interested in the supernatural and the occult, so she found the Fentons' research fascinating.

Tucker Foley was his techy gamer friend. He did want to be popular, but his attempts often backfired. Tucker often got him into situations, roping Danny into his schemes. He loved gadgets and technology, continually updating his phone and PDA to the latest model. Tucker was also a serious gamer but didn't want to be king of the nerds. He wanted to be a big man on campus.

As for Danny… he didn't know what he wanted. A part of him wanted to be popular but not as bad as Tucker. Another part just wanted to get through high school. He was sure he didn't want to be like Jazz, who spent all her time on academics. Games were often his distraction, but he also tried the gym, comics, movies, etc., but he just wasn't sure. A constant interest was astronomy, and while he's said he would like to be an astronaut, sometimes that desire would feel hollow.

Sam always assured him that was fine. It was normal to experiment and try to find yourself. It was hard for him because he felt distant from his family and school. Sam seemed to know what she wanted, and so did Tucker. Danny just wasn't sure what he wanted.

Going back to his parents, their most recent project was creating a portal to the Demon Realm. After many tests, trials, and errors, they were finally ready to unveil it. But when Jack went to plug the device in, nothing happened. While his parents went to take a break and review the blueprints, Danny snuck his friends into the basement to show them the portal.

It was supposed to be a quick 'check this out,' and then they would leave. So, Danny had to wonder how they got to this point…

"Smile!" Sam cheered as she took a picture of him holding a black and white hazmat suit.

Danny blinked the flash out of his eyes before speaking. "Okay, I showed you the portal. Can we get out of here now? My parents could be back here any minute. Besides, they say it doesn't work, anyway."

"Come on, Danny. A Demon Realm? Aren't you curious?" Sam persisted, looking at the portal again. "You gotta check it out."

Danny had to admit he was a little curious. While he didn't believe his parents' stories anymore, a part of him couldn't shake the child-like fascination of 'What if…?'

"You know what? You're right," He conceded, starting to feel excited. "Who knows what kind of awesome, super cool things exist on the other side of that portal."

Not wasting another second, he slipped on the hazmat suit with a determined look.

"Hang on," Sam said suddenly, walking up to him.

Danny thought she had reconsidered the plan for a moment, but instead, she just pulled off the Jack Fenton sticker on the suit.

"You can't go walking around with that on your chest." She explained, pointing to the sticker.

Looking at his friends one last time, Danny turned to the portal and headed inside. He glanced around the inside of the portal and saw nearly nothing. Despite the lab's lights, the portal itself was dark. Danny reached up and placed his hand on the portal wall to keep from tripping in case of loose cords or something along those lines.

Unknown to Danny, on the wall was a small panel with two buttons, one green with the word "on" underneath it and a red one with the word "off" underneath it. In a matter of seconds, Danny felt the button and accidentally pressed the green one. The trio's only warning was an electric whine as the circuitry inside the portal lit up like a Christmas tree.

Danny didn't even have time to react as the portal lit up with energy. The machine activating and his friends' cries were the only sounds he heard before his vision was engulfed in a bright flash of light. A burning pain shot through his body as a scream tore from his throat. Everything felt hot and cold at the same time, and Danny just wanted all of it to stop.

After that, everything went black.

(Scene Break)

Darkness and weightlessness greeted Danny as his senses returned to him. He felt the sensation of floating like he was submerged in water. He drifted upward before breaking the surface, like he was floating on his back in the pool.

Everything felt stiff and frozen. Danny groaned softly as he tried to move something, feeling pain with each attempt. He tried to open his eyes, but that took some effort, too.

Danny managed to crack his eyes open slightly, but everything was still blurry. He could see that there were… walls or something on both sides of him. It was also… not dark, but everything was cast in an odd, orangish glow.

Suddenly, he felt a presence near him. He didn't feel threatened, but he still tried to move to get away.

"Easy…" A deep voice said, trying to sound either comforting or non-threatening.

The only reason Danny stopped was because he was still in enough pain that he could barely move. The teen managed to open his eyes again and could make out a blurry figure. He could've sworn he saw horns and wings, but that could've been his fried brain talking.

"Hmmm…" The voice hummed in contemplation. "It seems the way you came through has closed, but perhaps there's another way…."

Danny had no idea what they were talking about. He tried to voice his confusion, but his throat and vocal cords weren't working either. What came out was a groan combined with a squeak, which he would have been embarrassed about had he been more conscious.

The figure rumbled again, and Danny felt a hand on his forehead. However, it didn't feel like a human hand. It felt like a combination of fur and claws, and that realization gave Danny enough energy to flinch.

"Easy, it's alright," The voice comforted him. He continued talking, but it sounded like they were talking to themselves. "The portal you passed through caused a lot of damage… But maybe…"

They became quiet again for a minute, and Danny tried to open his eyes again. This time, the picture was a little clearer. He saw a large man like his dad, who looked like he was wearing a helmet or headdress….

"There's not much time…." They murmured before turning to Danny. "I can't send you back to your world, but I can get you out of this place. You ready to go?"

Danny tried to speak again. He had a ton of questions. What did he mean by he couldn't send him home? Where was he going to go?

"I'll take that as a yes," They said as Danny felt the hand take his hand. "Don't worry. I'm sure my son and his friends will be more than willing to help you get back to the Human Realm."

Human Realm?

Before Danny could even work up the strength to ask, a rush of energy passed through him, forcing a gasp from his strained throat. All the stiffness seemed to be washed away as everything woke up. The sudden sensation caused Danny's eyes to snap open on reflex, but he was forced to squeeze them shut again because everything was too bright for his senses.

The next thing Danny was aware of was that he was being lifted out of the water by an unseen force. Flailing, he flipped himself into a more upright position before attempting to open his eyes again. This time he succeeded, and they widened further when he saw the area around him.

He was, in fact, in a canyon with the strangest rocks he had ever seen. They almost looked man-made. A black reflective pool was running through the gorge while weird black cubes were floating toward the sky, which matched the water. Danny then realized he was surrounded by an orange sphere with different symbols encompassing it that was slowly rising to the top of the canyon.

Looking around for the other person, he saw a glowing figure standing in the shadows. Danny had been right in his earlier observations that they had wings and what appeared to be horns. Aside from that, he couldn't make out any other features, as if the figure was made of light.

"Until we meet again, Danny the human." The voice said one final time, which Danny realized came from the figure.

Before the teen could try to say anything, the area started to grow brighter to the point he had to shield his eyes again. He could tell he was still moving despite being unable to see anything again. He could also feel the same energy from before surrounding him.

Not sure what was happening, all Danny could do was hang on and brace for whatever came next.

Suddenly, he heard something like a small explosion and felt the heat from a fire. The next thing he knew was that he was tumbling head over heels across a hard floor before skidding to a stop. His ears were ringing, and his head was pounding, but he felt like he could move normally again. Pushing himself up, he braced himself with one hand against the wall beside him and clutched his head with the other. Something felt weird when he felt his fingers in his hair. He didn't remember his nails feeling that sharp, especially through the gloves of the hazmat suit.

As he blinked the spots out of his eyes, Danny heard a gasp causing him to whip his head around to the source of the noise. Looking up, he saw a girl about his age on a stone platform rising above him. She was dressed in an indigo cloak and carrying a staff as she stared at him open-jawed. She looked like she wanted to call down to him, but she disappeared before she could.

Looking around, Danny saw a strange man staring at him. He wore a strange mask and a white robe of some kind. His mask was cracked, revealing a glowing blue pupil that struck a little fear into Danny.

Danny was very confused and nervous. Who was that girl? Who is this man? And where was he? That… person a few minutes ago said he couldn't send Danny home, so he knew he wasn't there.

Danny felt panic build in as the man kept looking at him. He couldn't explain it, but something told him that man was dangerous.

He needed to get out of here.

Now!

Glancing to the side, Danny saw a hall behind the man. Knowing it was the only other way out, he briefly looked back at the man before bolting. Danny didn't get far when he felt something like hands grab him by the ankles, causing him to fall to the ground. Grunting in pain, Danny pushed himself up and looked behind him, terrified by what he found.

These… clawed hands made of… mud had grabbed him by the legs. Speaking of his legs, they weren't how they were when he entered the portal. Instead of the white and black boots from his suit, he saw dark purple, and his lower legs looked skeleton-like with clawed feet.

"What the–?!"

"Leaving so soon?" An almost condescending voice asked, causing Danny to look at the man as he approached. "You only just arrived."

Fear and panic lanced through Danny as he got closer, every instinct telling him to run. "Stay back!"

Without thinking, Danny threw his hand to the side sweepingly. A bright flash of light appeared, causing the man to stumble back with a shocked gasp. Seeing a chance, Danny pulled as hard as he could, ripping his legs out of the hands surprisingly easily. He felt the hands come apart as he scrambled to his feet.

Sprinting down the hall, Danny burst out the door into another hallway lined with windows. Stumbling slightly, Danny stopped, leaning against the wall to catch his breath as the adrenaline wore off.

Heaving, Danny glanced at his reflection in the window and lost the breath he had regained, turning pale as he gasped. Instead of his usual ice-blue eyes, black eyes with green pupils stared back at him with his face.

Stepping back in shock, Danny got a good look at the rest of his reflection. His black hair was in the same style but had grown out to his upper back. The upper part of his outfit had turned into a furry black covering with bone rings, edges trailed to his mid-calf, and a glowing green symbol on his chest. He had horns on top of his head, his hands were skeleton-like like his feet, and his canines had lengthened into fangs. Finally, a pair of large, bat-like wings on his back opened slightly in response to his shock.

"What the heck is going on?!" Danny questioned, close to freaking out.

However, he didn't have much time to think about that when he heard the man shout, "Stop him!"

Seeing some odd-looking guards with masks charging at him from the right, Danny thought of only one thing to do.

Run.

Reacting like he did before, Danny swept his hand out in front of him. Only this time, instead of light, he caused the whole floor to ice over. The guards were not prepared for that and ended up slipping, sliding, and colliding with each other. Danny then spun around and ran in the opposite direction.

He turned different corners as he fled, finding different hallways, hoping one of them would lead to an exit. He kept running until he skidded to a stop when he rounded one corner, nearly bumping into someone.

It was another guard, but he was different from the others. He wore a white cloak, brown gloves, and a gold mask. He also seemed younger than the other guards.

Danny froze when he saw the guard. Adrenaline was still racing through him as he and the other stared at each other. Neither seemed to know what to make of the situation, having never seen someone like the other before. But when Danny heard the other guards coming, he snapped out of his stupor and dashed past the guard.

However, that brought the guard back to reality because he was now on his heels, joining the chase. "Stop, right there!"

Danny ignored him as he tried to think of a plan. He needed to slow the guards down so he could find a way to escape. Taking a chance, Danny spun around and thrust his hand out, hoping something would happen again to stall the guards. This time, thick vines came out of his palm, slamming into the younger guard. They tied him up as he was thrown back before roping the other guards.

When the plants stopped, Danny resumed his search for an exit. He dodged more guards as they appeared, finding a rhythm to his new… powers. Light was to distract, ice and plants were to delay, and if a guard actually attacked, he summoned fire.

Eventually, he came to a dead end. There was nowhere else to run, but there was a window. Glancing at his new wings and knowing he had no other options, Danny charged straight at the window and jumped through the opening.

Once he hit open air, Danny didn't look down or think about the ground below. He just opened his wings and started flapping, trying to keep himself in the air. After some wobbling and righting himself, Danny was able to steady himself enough to fly away from… a prison of some kind? He didn't know and wasn't sticking around to find out.

A few guards crowded the broken window, including the one with the golden mask.

"After him!" The captain commanded.

"Stop!" They all turned to see Emperor Belos approach them. "It seems that the Titan has a plan for this newcomer. Allow him to go free, but keep close eyes on him."

(Meanwhile)

Danny kept flying, not sure where he was going but knowing he couldn't stay where he was. Under any other circumstances, Danny would've thought the fact he could fly was amazing, but now was not the time.

As he soared, he passed over a village of some kind with an odd forest beyond it. It must've been autumn wherever this place was because all the trees were red. He looked around, desperately searching for a place to land and hide. He could feel himself getting tired and wasn't sure how much longer he would stay airborne.

Suddenly, a pillar of light appeared, nearly knocking Danny off balance in surprise. It vanished just as quickly as he corrected himself. Taking it as a sign, Danny headed toward where he saw the light.

When the forest gave way to an open clearing by a cliff, Danny descended to the ground. Fortunately, his new wings came with the instincts on how to land correctly. However, knowing how to land didn't mean he would get it right. It also didn't help that the adrenaline was wearing off, and fatigue was setting in, causing Danny to become unsteady. He fumbled as he landed, stumbling into falling on his face for the second time today. Only this time, Danny didn't have the energy to get back up.

As he started to pass out, he swore he heard footsteps running up to him. That should've frightened him, but they didn't sound like the guards' boots.

"Are you okay?" A young female voice asked, sounding worried.

Danny didn't respond as he fell unconscious, not noticing that he had changed back into a human once he did.

(POV Change)

Luz was shocked when she saw the… person? Demon? She didn't know… land barely ten feet away from her and the others. She then became worried when she saw him fall over and not get up.

She gasped before running to the downed being, ignoring Eda calling after her. "Luz, wait!"

The teen kneeled next to them. "Are you okay?"

They didn't respond, but Luz nearly jumped back in surprise when ice-blue flames covered them. The fire didn't feel hot and disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Luz gasped again when she saw that the strange being that had burst through the portal door had become a human boy about her age. He had short black hair and was wearing a black and white bodysuit. A brief overview showed that he didn't look hurt but was definitely tired.

Eda came up beside her, followed by King and Lilith. "Everything okay, Luz?"

"When I destroyed the portal, this guy came through at the same time. I couldn't do anything because I was already up on the platform. I wanted to go back for him, but we had to run, so…."

Lilith kneeled on the boy's other side, doing her own examination. "He doesn't appear to be injured, but he is fatigued. He will need somewhere where he can get plenty of rest."

"Alright, let's get him inside," Eda said, scooping the teen boy up before they all started walking to the Owl House.

"Hey, Eda?" Luz spoke up after a few minutes. "Have you ever heard of a human turning into a demon?"

"No, why?" Eda asked, looking at her.

"I don't believe such a thing is even possible…" Lilith added her input.

"Well, when this boy came through the portal, he didn't look like, well, that," Luz tried to explain, gesturing to the unconscious teen. "He had darker colors, longer hair, and wings. Skeletal, bat wings! And when he passed out, he was covered in blue fire and turned into a normal, human teenager."

"Seriously?" Eda's eyes widened, eyeing the teen in her arms.

"Some demons can shapeshift and change how they look, but he wouldn't be able to if he passed out." King jumped in.

"Well, we won't figure it out tonight," Lilith said. "It's late, we've all had a long day, and this young man needs rest. We'll figure out who or what he is and where he came from when he heals."

Everyone silently agreed as they headed inside to call it a day.

(The following day)

Danny groaned and shifted as he woke up, wondering why he felt so tired despite sleeping through the night. As his eyes slowly opened, he realized with a start that this wasn't his house, much less his room.

Danny bolted up with a gasp before looking around. He was in someone's living room, sleeping on their couch, with one of their blankets. He also noticed that there were various knick-knacks and weapons on the walls. One of the items looked like a hand-drawn wanted poster of a woman with some kind of… what was that? A dog?

"And I thought my parents had a lot of weird stuff…." Danny muttered.

Suddenly, the front door swung open, and to Danny's shock, the door carving started talking.

"Good morning!" It said happily.

"What the–?!" Danny scooched back on reflex, causing him to fall off the couch. "Ouch!"

As Danny rolled off his back, he heard someone coming. He looked up to see a woman with long gray hair, yellow and gray eyes, and a red dress standing in the doorway.

"Hooty, try not to freak the kid out more than he already is," The woman chastised the carving before walking over to Danny. "You okay?"

Danny stared at her a moment before answering. "… I have no idea."

The woman held out a hand for him, helping Danny to his feet.

"Thanks…" He said, still a little shaken from the situation. "Uh, who are you? And where am I?"

"The name's Eda," The woman, Eda, introduced herself with a slight smirk. "Eda the Owl Lady. Welcome to the Owl House."

Right after she made her introduction, a familiar girl jogged into the living room as another woman with dark hair and mismatched eyes like Eda's walked in behind her.

"You're awake!" She cheered, running up to him before holding out her hand. "I'm Luz. Luz Noceda."

Danny looked at her before shaking her hand. "Danny. Danny Fenton."

"Nice to meet you, Danny," Luz smiled at him before becoming concerned. "So, how did you get to the Boiling Isles?"

As memories of yesterday came back to him, Danny took a deep breath. "It's a long story…"

"Then perhaps we should make breakfast while you tell your story," The dark-haired woman suggested. "It's probably been some time since you last ate."

As if on cue, Danny felt his stomach growl, much to his embarrassment. "Yeah… that might be a good idea."

She smiled at him and left the doorway, possibly heading to the kitchen.

When she left, Danny noticed a small, dark gray, furry creature standing on its hind legs, watching them. He had a red collar with a gold tag, and his head was covered by a skull with horns. Danny couldn't put his finger on it, but something about him was familiar…

"That's King," Luz introduced them. "And that was Lilith. And you already met Hooty."

"Well, let's get some food in ya, kid," Eda smiled at him before following her sister. "Bathroom's upstairs if you need it."

"Thanks…" Danny said. "Hope my blood's not on the menu…"

"What?"

"Nothing."

A short time later, everyone was gathered in the kitchen. Danny (Who had freshened up and changed out of the hazmat suit a few minutes before) and Luz were sitting next to each other at the table while King was in his high chair with his breakfast (Danny was trying very hard to ignore that it had eyes in it). Eda was leaning on the edge of the table, drinking something called apple blood (Danny didn't wanna know) while Lilith was cooking breakfast for herself and the humans.

Danny had just finished telling them his story, from his parent's basement to ending up in front of the Owl House.

"So, let me get this straight," Eda said after sipping her drink. "Your parents are amateur witch hunters, and they were trying to build a portal to the Demon Realm."

"Yup." Danny nodded. "But it didn't work at first."

"But while you were showing it to your friends, the portal turned on with you inside it." Eda summed up, almost not believing it. "What, was the on switch inside the portal?"

"Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened," Danny said, leaning his face in his hand. "That sounds a lot like something my dad would do…"

"Not the brightest man in the world, is he?" Lilith said.

Danny just shook his head, not saying it out loud.

"So, that's how you got here," Luz said. "But about the, uh… I don't know what you turned into, but how did you do that?"

Danny blew out a long breath, running his fingers through his hair. "I have no idea. I wasn't able to do that before I went into the portal. I really don't know what any of that was."

"You mentioned finding a different dimension before coming through the portal," Lilith mentioned as she scraped something that smelled like eggs onto a couple plates. "And there was someone with you?"

"Yeah. I couldn't make out much since I was still out of it from being fried by my parent's portal, but someone was definitely there with me. I remember they said I was hurt, which I don't know what they were talking about since I feel fine… which is also strange because you'd think I'd have burns or something… Anyway, they said they couldn't send me home, but they could get me… here, I guess. They also said something about their son being able to help me, but I don't know who that is." Once he was finished with his explanation, Danny sighed as the uncertainty of his situation sunk in. "Bottom line: I'm here, and I don't know how to get home."

His parents may be absorbed in their work sometimes, but even they would notice if he was missing. Sam and Tucker watched the portal incident happen. They must be freaking out, wondering if he had been killed the night before.

"Well," Luz said, catching his attention with a reassuring smile. "If you want, you can stay here with us. I'm kinda stuck here, too, because the portal's gone. We can work together to find a new way home, and maybe we can figure out what happened to you, too."

Danny looked at her, considering her proposal. He had nowhere to go, so this was his only option. Plus, if this change in him was permanent, he would need to learn how to control it. Besides, now that he knew his parent's stories were true (to an extent), some of his old childhood curiosity was coming back. Danny couldn't help but feel like he wanted to see more of this world…

"Okay," Danny answered, smiling back at her.

Luz squealed quietly before turning to Eda excitedly.

"Oh, fine," The witch rolled her eyes, but she was also smiling. "Welcome aboard, kid."

"Yes!" Luz cheered, latching onto Danny in a hug. The action startled the boy, but he smiled appreciatively.

They pulled apart as Lilith came over with their breakfast, looking almost motherly as she gave them their plates. Hooty popped up behind them, startling Danny, but Luz and Eda just laughed, getting a smile out of the teen.

Everyone had many uncertainties about the future, but this was also the beginning of a new adventure.

And here's the debut chapter, as I promised Notchbrine in a review. Next on the list will be the Tangled and Owl House crossover I mentioned before.
