I Own Nothing

AN: I haven't seen all of these symptoms in a person that is dehydrated. However, I have seen some of the ones I mention below. The other ones I researched to see if it was possible to be delirious which confusion is one side effect of it. My GMA was back in January, but didn't know it til did blood work cause couldn't see it.

Summary: Brian calls Justin for help because he's not feeling good at all. He doesn't know what is wrong besides what he already has.

Title: Dehydration

The sound of phone going off was what woke Justin up in the middle of the night. He'd been asleep since eight because of the killer migraine he'd had. He reached out for the phone not sure who was calling at the unknown hour. He didn't bother looking at the caller id before putting it to his ear. Ever who was calling had to know his number and was desperate to get him. He didn't even get a chance to say anything before he heard a voice on the other end.

"I'm sorry, I'm an asshole, you can yell at me if you want. I'll sit through one of those cartoons you like so much. Could you please forgive me because I really need help. I was wrong in thinking I could do this alone. I'm scared shitless and I need help it's simple as that. I'm not just talking about going there. I need actual help now. I think something's wrong besides the fucking cancer." Brian's voice came through the phone.

Justin didn't even think about it he tossed the covers away looking for his shoes. He listened to Brian talking to him, but he was also getting dressed. The headache he'd known had come from dealing with Brian being an ass about him finding out. He'd tossed him out of the loft, but he'd told him he was going to start haunting him if he didn't let him in his life to help. He had needed to think of a way to get back in besides going right in. It had given him a migraine, but right now Brian was actually asking for his help. Something that if he wasn't worried would surprise him.

"I'm on my way." Justin said grabbing his keys. "Keep talking if you want because I'm not hanging up. If you can't or don't feel like it then just listen to me." He wasn't about to let Brian hang up the phone. "What feels wrong?" He asked as he quickly wrote Daphne a note as to where he'd gone. After that he was out the door locking it behind him to get to Brian.

"This thing in my chest it hurts. I can't make it stop hurting and I can't get off the floor either. Everything I eat comes back up; water won't even stay down. Why does it hurt so much? It's not supposed to hurt this much. It never did before, but you changed that. You made it hurt because I let you in. I don't want to be without you, already tried it once. I got a hustler that looked like you and fucked him." Brian was not sure why he was telling Justin this, but he was. "I sat outside that horrible apartment building just watching you sometimes when I needed to see you. I don't think you ever knew; did you know? I fucking cried sometimes in the shower because it hurt so bad when you walked out. I was my fault too, but I never understood why I always sabotage what was good. I still don't know why I can't admit when I need help."

There were other things too which he started naming to Justin about how he felt now. He couldn't go to the bathroom even though he felt like it. What little he kept in him of water he'd peed out which had been really dark. That wasn't normal since his was almost always clear. His head was hurting, and he was thirsty like nothing he'd felt before. He also thought he'd gotten in the bed, but he was clearly still on the bathroom floor. He had the chills, which would have been okay earlier when he'd been sweating. Now it wasn't okay because he was cold on the cold floor.

With everything that Brian told him Justin knew what was wrong. Some might think to tell him he wasn't a doctor, but he knew. Brian was clearly dehydrated which he knew was possible with the treatments he was taken. If Brian wasn't drinking enough fluids, water especially he was going to get dehydrated. He just wasn't sure what the world Brian meant by something in his chest hurting. It scared him that he might be having a heart attack.

Then he was talking about the last time they had been apart. It was starting to make a little sense that maybe Brian was meaning his heart was aching because of the fact he loved him. Confusion was another one of those signs of dehydration. He hoped that if he could get water into Brian, he wouldn't have to take him anywhere. If he didn't improve though he was going to have to get him to go to the hospital.

Brian hadn't moved when Justin got here besides rolling on his side. The phone was on the floor beside him on speaker phone. Justin thankfully didn't see any blood, so he was thinking Brian had meant that his heart was aching because of the thing with them. It took him a little to get Brian out of the floor. He was pretty much dead weight for him, but he made it to the bed. Though it was more of a fall onto it because Brian had missed the step and they both went on the bed. Justin hadn't been able to stop it, but he had made sure Brian didn't land on anything besides the bed.

He took in Brian once he did have him on the bed feeling his forehead, he wasn't that hot to the touch. He did make Brian sit up on the bed before he went and got him ice. He was happy to find that there was the Gatorade he'd bought still there. He got the cup of ice and the Gatorade taking them both back to the bedroom. He knew that Brian hated the stuff, but he was going to drink it. It was that or going to the hospital which if he didn't start feeling better with in a couple of hours he was going there. He'd drag the stubborn man there if he had to.

"Don't say one word about drinking this. Option one is drink, option two is go to the hospital for fluids. They can keep you for up to four days if they don't like how you look." Justin said when Brian groaned when he put the cup in his hand. "When did you last eat? No complaining about no food after seven either. You called me for help and I'm giving it. I got dehydrated before wasn't fun and having IV going into your arm not fun either. So, drink up." He added holding Brian's hand that was holding the cup so he didn't spill it.

"You have no bedside manner." Brian grumbled, but he was relieved that Justin was there. "Thank you, can we never talk about this again?" He didn't want to remember that Justin had to half lift him off the floor.

He had no energy, and he was slightly worried he was going to have to go to the hospital. The woman that had been giving him his treatments had kept saying he had to put more food in his body than he was letting out. He would get sick, but the key was to eat and drink plenty of food and fluids. He thought it was funny since everything he put in came back up. He'd been trying this alone, but it was clear he couldn't do it. He hadn't thought he'd be this sick.

"My partner wanted to be an ass to me earlier today. He tossed me out of the loft telling me that we were once again breaking up. So, I'm sorry if I have no bedside manner because that thing in your chest that is hurting you so much well, I got one too. The man I love keeps trying to break mine, but I keep coming back because I love him. So, if you want bedside manner then you gotta give me something back." Justin answered.

On the way over he'd decided that he wasn't going to let Brian toss him out once he'd helped him feel better. If Brian had called when he felt like hell when he was better, he wouldn't let him make him go again. It was all or nothing and he knew that Brian had wanted his help. He had apologized for treating him like shit. That was something at least in his book. He looked at Brian who was slowly drinking the Gatorade, no complaints out loud. Though he almost smiled at the face Brian was making.

"He's sorry about that, he got scared that you'd treat him different. That the only thing he'd see was pity when you looked at him. He was wrong though after all you did show up when you could have told him to fuck off." Brian said trying not to gag at the taste of the stuff he was drinking.

"Okay let's cut the shit and say what we mean here. I love you, which we both know I do. I would never give you pity because you're sick. You want to know what I would do? I'd be there with you during treatment. I'd take you there and bring you back. I'd pick you up off the floor when you couldn't get back to the bed like now. I'd make sure that you did get something that could stay down in you. I'd do all of that out of love not, pity Brian. It's what a partner does. I won't say that I'm not scared, we both can be. You can tell me that though without me freaking out on you. I'm not Michael who will only cry his eyes out and need to be taken care of. I'll take care of you instead, so please let me." Justin took a breath looking at Brian. "You took care of me when I needed you the most. Let me return that by being here now in your worst time." He offered.

"I don't easily handle needing someone, but okay. You want honest, I want to curl up in a fucking ball and wait for this to be over. I want to not feel like hell or see my food come back up. I want this to be over with and not have to worry it could come back. If I had a mother who'd been worth a damn, I'd want her right now. I of course didn't have that, so I didn't know what that was like. I love Debbie, but there no way I can ask that of her, plus she kind of hates me right now. I will get you if you ever repeat this one, but I could really use a hug right now." Brian replied trailing off at the end when he admitted what he truly wanted at the moment.

He wanted to feel Justin's arms around him to know he had him. He used to feel like someone else was his safety net, but that changed. Justin was the person that he wanted all the time. When life was sucking, he wanted Justin, right now life was a fuck fest, and he needed the man he loved. It was so clear like a neon light that he loved him. He had broken down and called him asking to be forgiven, for help.

Justin moved next to Brian on the bed putting his arms around him. He would do anything for the man that had taken care of him after he'd been bashed in the head. Brian had been the person he'd leaned on when he'd been finding his way again. Brian had become his safety net when everything else seemed so horrible. He had done so many things for him and he saw nothing but love between them.

"You can lean on me all you want." Justin said. "Just don't stop sipping on that or I'm taking you to the hospital. You can take back what you said all you want, but if you want me to help then if you're not better soon we're going." He wasn't going to let Brian die on him because he wasn't hydrated enough.

"Fine." Brian sighed, but he leaned into Justin resting his head on his shoulders.

There was no use arguing because he was leaving the choice up to Justin. He did feel a little better by drinking the Gatorade. He was hoping that if he kept drinking it, he wouldn't have to go. If he had to though he wasn't going to bitch about it. He had after all spent some of those fluids on the bathroom floor crying because he'd wanted Justin and threw him out. His pride had gotten in his way of taking what was being given to him on a platter. Though he had fixed that by admitting defeat.

Justin moved his hand over Brian's side placing a kiss on the top of his head. He felt somewhat better knowing that Brian was going to listen to him. He wouldn't have to dig out those cuffs in order to get Brian to go with him if need be. He sat with Brian not saying anything else as Brian kept drinking from the cup. He'd poured the bottle into the cup so it would be easier for him to help Brian hold it at first. Now, Brian had started holding onto it himself which made him think he was feeling better. It was enough to start helping Brian. If he would keep it down, he'd get him more of it. He would also pick up some of the Pedialyte or get his mom to.

At some point after a refill of the Gatorade and emptying the second cup Brian had fallen asleep. Justin had gotten them better situated letting Brian use a straw when he'd wanted to lay down. He had also held the cup again, so it didn't spill. He had kept waking up checking on Brian to see if he was doing okay. When Brian had woken up, he'd needed to go pee. Justin had then made him drink more of the Gatorade. Brian had looked better, but he was going with him to the treatment that morning. He'd already decided that and when he said it, he had dared Brian to object.

So, when Brian was waiting for the treatment Justin asked if they could see if he wasn't dehydrated. He'd explained about the night before and that he'd given him Gatorade. He had also gotten ice and finally that morning at five he'd given Brian two cups of water to drink. Brian had asked was he trying to make him wet the bed. The result had been that Brian was only slightly dehydrated. The nurse told him to keep drinking the Gatorade and water too. Water was the best, but the Gatorade help put other things back that wasn't in water.

She had also given them a list of food that would be more manageable on Brian's stomach. She did say that if he got that way again to bring him in. They would give him fluids to get him back quicker on the hydrated side. If he did it there, he wouldn't have to stay in the hospital itself for days. He'd do the IV in an hour and could leave which Brian had been happy about. She had been glad to know someone was looking out for Brian. Some people had no one and she felt bad for them.

Justin had told her there was no way he was going to let Brian go without a fight. He didn't tell her that they'd had a fight about it already. He didn't even bring that up only that he hadn't found out beforehand. He was going to be there from now on though and he got a list of Brian's appointments too. He'd done that while Brian had been getting the treatment. He was Brian's Power of Attorney, so he'd asked about a few other things too. He wanted to know in case he did need to do more than get fluids into Brian. He was just glad that Brian's blood work had shown that he wasn't dehydrated as badly as he had been.

After the treatment Justin had drove them back home to the loft. He had told Brian he wasn't going to work, but to bed. It was where they both stayed and when someone had come banging on the loft door Justin had gotten it. Brian had finally fallen asleep after throwing up what he had managed to get down for breakfast. He had told Michael that he had it handled when he saw it was him. He'd planned on telling him off for telling Brian he knew. It had led to him almost being cast out again.

He didn't though he did tell him to give them some space. It was what Brian wanted since he wasn't feeling good. Michael tried protesting, but Justin had told him if he came in, he was going to be cleaning the toilet. He also mentioned about cleaning the trash can up, moping the bathroom floor also. Michael had look horrified at that and said to call if they needed anything. The man said he would do anything for Brian, yet when faced with cleaning up after Brian got sick, he ran. It made him wonder how much help Michael had given when Brian needed him in the past to get him home.

Justin had gone back to the bed once he had cleaned up the trash can. He'd also cleaned the toilet, but Brian hadn't gotten anything on the floor, this time. He had wanted to be left alone with Brian. They both needed rest, Brian the most and Michael was tiring. When he got back in the bed, he brought two bottles of water and another Gatorade. He had called his mom asking if she could bring some more since it was the last one. She had also gotten the Pedialyte. He didn't want to leave Brian and he didn't trust anyone else to get the one he asked for. Also, Michael and he were the only ones that knew. He'd only said that Brian wasn't feeling good, not what he had. It was the way Brian wanted it so he wouldn't argue.

Brian put his arm around Justin when he got back in the bed. He rested his head against Justin's chest listening to his heart beating. He was relieved that he was still there with him. The way he had treated Justin he could have hung up on him. He smiled slightly feeling Justin's hand moving over his back. He wasn't sure if this was how it felt to have someone take care of you when you were a child, but it felt nice.

"Thank you, Sunshine. I love you, not only because of this either." Brian said in a low voice, but he knew Justin could hear him.

"Love you too, I know it's not only because I'm taking care of you. I felt the same way when you took care of me. Go back to sleep, when you wake up, I'll make you something light." Justin responded leaning into Brian kissing the top of his head. He let his hand keep moving over Brian's back. He told him he was welcome too. After all it had taken a lot for Brian to call him, of that he was sure.
