ANOTHER METHOD

Summary: When the TEC is shut down, Walker and Matuzak get some much needed help in setting things right from a little known time-traveler named Marty McFly.

The TEC had ben shut down.
Senator Aaron McComb, having won by a landslide in the election for the presidency, had finally accomplished his goal.
Time travel was exclusively his.
Max Walker, the time traveling special agent for the Time Enforcement Commission, had tried to prevent this, but had failed.
Now, he was the only one who knew the truth.
Eugene Matuzak, the TEC's operations commander, was naturally skeptical about Walkers claims that McComb was behind all of this.
"Okay, so... you say that we were friends, let me ask you a question I'm sure the prison psychiatrist will ask you. Just how is our leading presidential candidate making all these expeditions into the past without our equipment, old pal of mine?" Matuzak asked.
"The prototype was never dismantled." Walker said simply.
Ricky and Matuzak looked stunned to hear that.
"Kleindast's. It's in Calverton, Maryland." Matuzak realized.
"Short drive from Washington." Walker added.
"We have no authority to get in there." Matuzak said, realizing there was only one way to be sure.
"What about Ricky?" Walker asked.
Matuzak looked at Ricky, who shrugged and gave the other man a small smile.
Ricky quickly went to his computer and accessed the Maryland power grid.
"Well, well, well. Random intervals, Maryland Utilities shows power spikes in demand and duration that are identical to ours." Ricky said as he stared at the computer readouts.
"Send me back." Walker said to Matuzak.
"The power generators are off-line. The pod's being dismantled as we speak." Ricky said.
"So that's it? There's nothing we can do?" Walker said in dismay.
"I'm afraid not." Matuzak said with a defeated sigh.
"There has to be a way. What about Maryland?" Walker asked.
"Even if we could get there, McComb will most likely have it guarded and locked up, tight as a drum." Matuzak reasoned.
"What about the other launch sites?" Walker asked.
"We couldn't get there without anyone noticing." Matuzak said, realizing he meant the ones the TEC and the CIA had been trying to shut down over the years.
"There has to be a way." Walker persisted.
Matuzak and Ricky looked at each other, before the younger tech-expert gave the former commander a sly look.
"There might be a way." Ricky said.
"How?" Walker asked.
"Emmett Brown." he said.
"Oh, crap!" Matuzak groaned as soon as he said that.
"Who?" Walker asked.
"Hans Kleindast wasn't the only scientist doing research into time-travel back in the 70's and 80's." Ricky said. "There were a couple others."
"Officially, Kleindast created the only successful means of time-travel, which is why the government jumped on it to form the TEC. However, one of his colleagues, a Dr. Emmett Brown, supposedly came up with an alternate means of time-travel. But his research was largely ignored and ridiculed." Matuzak explained.
"Why?" Walker asked, wondering why he had not heard of this Emmett Brown before.
"Because his idea involved using plutonium to power a car to travel back in time."
"Plutonium?" he asked, shocked at the very idea. "In a car?"
"I know, right? Plutonium in an internal combustion vehicle. Sounds like a bad movie plot. But it was the plutonium that turned the government off of his idea, since it was too dangerous."
"And you're telling me this guy is our best chance?"
"Well... Doc Brown hasn't been seen in years. But I think I know someone who can help." Matuzak said as he pulled Walker out of the TEC.

(Hill Valley, California, 12 hours and one plane ride later)
At a very nice house in Hilldale, two men approached and knocked on the front door.
KNOCK, KNOCK
"Yes?" a young man with short brown hair asked as he opened the door.
"Marty McFly?" Matuzak asked.
"Yes."
"My name is Eugene Matuzak, and this is Max Walker."
"Hi. How can I help you?"
"We need to borrow your car." Matuzak said as he flashed his TEC badge.
Marty sighed as he looked at the badge and the two men.
"Uh, right. This way." Marty said as he motioned for the two men to follow him.
Marty took the pair out to the garage that was behind his house. Once inside the garage, he led them over to what looked like a car underneath a brown slipcover. He pulled the slipcover off of the car, revealing the vehicle in question.
Max and Eugene gasped when they saw it.
"I don't believe it." Walker said as he stared at the 'ancient' looking vehicle.
"I kinda figured you TEC guys would come knocking one day. That's why I never used it." Marty said.
"It's a DeLorean?" Walker asked in shock.
"Like Doc said, if you're gonna build a time machine out of a car, why not do it with a little style." Marty said with a smile.
"You had a time-machine, sitting in your garage, and you never used it?" Walker asked.
"Oh, no, I learned my lesson the last time we used this damn thing. Nearly destroyed my reality."
"Used it? So, it does work?" Matuzak asked.
"It does. At least I think it does. This one's never been used."
"This one?" Walker asked.
"Yeah. This is the DeLorean Time Machine Mark II. Never been used."
"So how do you know it works?" Matuzak asked.
"I trust my friend." Marty said.
"You never used it, so... why do you have it?" Walker asked.
"It... was a gift from Doc Brown. See, the original DeLorean was destroyed a few years back. Doc rebuilt it and gave this to me for safe keeping. Just in case anything happened." Marty explained.
"In case anything happened?" Matuzak asked.
"When the TEC was formed back in '94, Doc was worried that time-travel would get out of control. So, as a safety measure, he gave this to me for safe keeping."
"You never used it before? I mean... you're not keeping a stash of plutonium around here to power this thing, are you?"
"Plutonium? No, no, no, no, no. We have... Mr. Fusion!" Marty said proudly as he pointed to the white device on the back of the car.
"Mr. Fusion?" Walker asked.
"A device from 2015. It runs on garbage and trash to power the Flux Capacitor and the time circuits."
"2015? The future? You mean... you can go into the future with this?" Matuzak asked, shocked.
"You can." Marty said simply.
"But that's impossible. You can't go into the future because the future hasn't happened yet."
"Yeah, well, don't ask me how that's possible. I don't know what time travel methods you guys use. But Doc Brown figured it out."
Matuzak and Walker looked at each other.
"Unbelievable!" Matuzak said.
"And... where is Doctor Brown now?" Walker asked.
"1895." Marty said.
"Huh?" Matuzak asked.
"He met a nice girl in 1885 and settled down. Raised a family." Marty said.
"He did?" Walker asked.
"He did. He's happily retired now, living a quiet and obscure life."
Walker sighed, almost envious of a man he had never met.
"How does this work?" Matuzak asked.
"Here. Time Circuits on." Marty said as he sat in the front seat and turned a switch that was in the middle of the two seats.
He then turned towards the dashboard in front of them.
"Input your time destination using the keypad. Month, Day, year and the hour. Then, all you have to do is accelerate the DeLorean up to 88 miles an hour and you'll be instantaneously transported to the time destination in question." Marty said.
"88 miles an hour?" Matuzak asked.
"Yeah. Fortunately, Doc also managed to create a new set of flying circuits, so..."
"Flying circuits?"
"Yeah. This car flies." Marty said as he flipped another switch which said 'Flight' just above it.
Walker and Matuzak just looked at each other in shock. Even they didn't have flying cars and they worked for the government.
Which went without saying.
"Okay...!" Matuzak said with a heavy sigh. "Look. We need to borrow your DeLorean. The time lines have been compromised because of a corrupt politician and we need to set things right." Matuzak said.
"Yeah, I kinda figured you guys weren't here for a joyride." Marty said as got out of the front seat.
Walker and Matuzak got into the DeLorean as Marty just looked on.
"McFly, I have a question for you." Walker said.
"Yeah?"
"A lot of people have tried to use time travel to make money. You never thought about doing that?"
"Oh, no! The last time I tried to do that... my dad was murdered and my mom was married to the asshole who killed him, and... I had to go back and set things right. I learned my lesson the hard way."
Walker just nodded his head, kind of understanding where Marty was coming from.
"But... your father's alive now, right?" Walker asked.
"He is. He's happily married to my mom and... I'm happily married to a wonderful girl myself." Marty said.
Walker smiled at the young man.
Walker drove the DeLorean out from the garage and onto the main road.
"You do realize we're about to use an untested time machine that isn't supposed to exist to fix a problem that our original time travel devices caused, right?" Matuzak asked.
"Yup." Walker replied simply.
"Not to mention we're gonna have to fly this car back to Washington from California before we actually time-travel, right?"
"Yup."
Matuzak sighed at Walker's casual and seemingly blasé attitude towards this whole thing.
To him it was just another day on the job.
Marty just watched as the pair lifted off the ground and flew away.
"Good luck, guys." Marty said with a half-hearted smile.
He hoped that whatever they were intending to do, it was for the right reasons. That was why Doc had given it to him in the first place. He knew that the TEC were a responsible bunch, so he had little reason to worry. Especially if they were going to stop some corrupt politician who had been messing with time travel. And that was good enough for Marty McFly.

Authors Notes:
This is just a short little one-shot involving two of my favorite time travel movies.
I had been watching Back to the Future movies lately and after seeing Timecop videos on YouTube because of it, I came up with this idea.
This was intended to be a one-shot because we all know what Walker did and how he was successful. And with Matuzak alongside him, he will be even more so.
Don't expect an update or a sequel. This is just going to be as it is.
Marty doesn't expect Walker and Matuzak to return the DeLorean. It was intended to be a means of setting things right if anything went wrong. And since McComb screwed with time, Walker and Matuzak are going to set things right.
