[A/N]: Now before we can begin I will say this is my second Girls Und Panzer related Novella I have made. The first one was back in 2022 and then I did a full on novel style which ate up a lot of time and now with that finished, I am going to do something a little more simple. Nothing too history related as I want to take a breather from that. Now with that out of the way, I think I want to express this of the following: these tropes put into GuP fanfics I don't do and everyone else does: Boys joining, Boys in planes, Romance taking up much of the story. Yep they all suck. Romance I see is secondary to the plot as I'm no shipper. Plus boys do exist and interact with the girls but they aren't participating with the girls nor are they simps. So with this novella, I'm planning on taking GuP back to its roots when it comes to stuff like this. Back to where they go. Let it begin.

Without further ado, here's the prologue
One could say that we're trying to get away from each other for various reasons, if we're being hunted down we seek somewhere to hide and even if that somewhere is in the wilderness. Society remains a menace to those who want to seek their lives out in seclusion and even then, with a changed identity, we're not entirely safe from society creeping up on us until we have nowhere left to run.
The clouds had gathered on an early summer's day but for some this wasn't one of peace as much as it will be about rain. Nothing was ever peaceful about Saunders though. The frantic pedaling of a bike was heard as a girl with light brown hair in small pigtails was trying her best to get away from what was chasing her down. She thundered down the path as her pursuers were trying to get to her.
"Rosie, get back here! We have a lot to talk about your behavior based on what you have said!" Shouted the girl with blonde hair. She was pedaling after her on a motorbike of her own. Rosie was trying her best to shake these hunters off of her. Following behind her was a girl with brown hair that ended in small pigtails as she trailed behind her friend. Rosie crossed the bridge over a flowing creek as the two of them pursued after them.
"I'm sticking to what I have said, the United States sucks Kay and you know it!" Rosie shouted as the two bikes chased after her. A bit up the path. A girl with gray hair watched what was going to happen and she heard her radio buzz.
"Naomi, get ready to intercept Rosie; she has been a very bad student." Kay ordered Naomi to get ready to intercept her and therefore capture her.
"On the way, tell Alisa to get to the side." Naomi suggested as she backed away to get everything ready. Rosie still pedaled as hard as she could to get away from what seemed to be her enemies as Kay was close to catching her. Alisa, hearing the radio, began to pedal beside them and she quickly caught up to Rosie. She was ready to jump and tackle Rosie to help Kay out. Naomi meanwhile was pushing several wagons as she was going to help. She then released the wagons and let them all roll down. Alisa saw the wagons rolling down and hoped these were going to hit Rosie. Naomi however had different intentions, the wagons rolled onto the path and they managed to hit its intended target. The intended target… was Alisa. Alisa was struck with the wagons as she was knocked to the ground.
Rosie pedaled on, one less pursuer to worry about. Kay meanwhile had her wrath on her and wanted to take it out on Rosie. Rosie remembered something, lure Kay to the draw-bridge. Kay followed Rosie behind as wanted to take this girl out for what she had said. Rosie thundered over the bridge as it began to open. Kay saw this and tried to stop herself in time but for her it was too late. Kay slid into the water below with a large splash. Rosie had managed to use her wits against her worst enemy, the door opened as Rosie pedaled inside, going down the helix where she believed it would take her to the bottom of the carrier upon which she could exit from. Naomi spotted Alisa whose bike was somewhat wrecked and she was in the mud with the wagons having stopped.
"Don't worry Kimberly, I'll get you out too." Naomi told herself. She turned and she began to pedal away. She was worried about her facing Kay's wrath too.
The Saunders school carrier had docked at port and it was going to have supplies taken off and loaded back onto it. The doors opened as freight rumbled out of the side doors of the school carrier. Rosie pedaled her way out of there as she followed the freight wagons to find her way out. She was going to have to take refuge in another school for the time being and then move to the next. She hoped where she was going would have a chance at remaining hidden and if that didn't work. The best bet for her was to pedal her way into the Siberian wilderness and hide there. Fortunately for her, there was another, smaller carrier for her to hide out in. She didn't know what that school was but if it meant finding somewhere to hide in, she was going to take it, the wagons from another cut were heading into the school. Rosie followed the wagons and pedaled her way inside. She had to lay low and help out in any way she could.
"Ooarai isn't suspicious of me… I've helped them before to keep them open. I hope they're willing to repay the favor for me." Rosie told herself as she pedaled along, trying to find a helix to pedal herself up and if that failed, she was going to have to ride the cargo elevator to get to the top of the deck.
It was the next day when Ooarai's school ship was out on the water and the skies had cleared, it rained during the night and the students were making the most of the calm early summer day. School for the year was mostly finished. Ooarai's commander, Miho Nishizumi was thinking about the summer, what to do, who to see, and spending time with Maho and Shiho before Maho went abroad for university. Miho was walking with Hana and Azusa as they were busy discussing some of the events that were happening around them.
"One more year at Ooarai, one more time with the tanks." Miho told Hana while they were thinking about what they were going to do. Miho and Hana seemed to be having a good time but Azusa seemed to just trail along as she felt uneasy about all of this.
"So have you decided on where you want to go for university?" Hana asked Miho. Miho began to think about it for a moment before her mind went blank.
"I haven't, there are so many options to choose from. I think it's best we wait for the universities to come to us, and we can make our decision from there." Miho told Hana. Azusa meanwhile looked away as something was wrong. Miho continued to speak. "I know Onee-san is heading to Germany, but she said she wanted to spend one more summer with me and Shiho before she goes abroad. She told me she kind of misses her friends from Kuromorimine and her former apprentice broke down into tears when she graduated. I just hope that girl is in good hands."
"Who? Olivia?" Hana asked. I got the chance to speak to her the other day. She's feeling a little better but she feels like she just lost someone important to her in her life. I think you should talk to Shiho about this and give some advice to her."
"Yeah I think that is something I may have to do later. Maybe invite them over to smooth out stuff." Miho explained to Hana. Azusa looked away, almost as if she was hurt by something. Hana turned her head to her right to see what was up.
"Hey what's wrong with Azusa, she seems to be disconnected from us?" Hana asked. Miho turned to see what was going on with Azusa. Azusa was sitting away kind of feeling upset about herself. "Hey Azusa, is something bothering you?" Hana asked curiously. Azusa finally turned her head to them to speak.
"I feel like death is around the corner. Maho has already died, and your turn will be next and then it will be me." Azusa told them. Miho and Hana were rather confused by what Azusa was saying. What was she talking about?
"I don't think we can understand you. What do you mean by death?" Miho told Azusa. Azusa knew she needed to break the concept down to them the best way she could.
"Listen, Maho's already passed from Kuromorimine and you're passing away next summer and then it will be me after you." Azusa told them about what was happening. Azusa sniffed as tears began to come out of her eyes. Miho and Hana were worried about what she was talking about.
"Azusa, get a hold of yourself. no one is going to die." Miho told Azusa. Azusa didn't respond as she felt like something was taking over her. She felt something in her chest before clutching it with both of her hands. Her eyes seemed to shoot open with terror. Miho looked at Azusa as Hana began speaking next.
"Azusa?" Hana asked. Azusa didn't respond, instead she fell backwards onto her back still clutching her chest while feeling her body hit the ground. Her head tilted to the right before her eyes closed. "AZUSA!" Hana called out. Miho and Hana ran up to Azusa as the cries of their voices were heard among the trees.
"Azusa no!" Miho cried. She held her friend's hand while Hana called the nurse to figure out what was happening with Azusa. The nurse arrived a couple minutes later as Miho was still trying to figure out what was happening. She had brought the equipment to see what was wrong. She decided to take Azusa's pulse while Hana was telling the nurse of what happened. The nurse was shocked.
"Azusa's blood pressure is really high. Her heart feels like it's been racing for the past hour. I'm going to try to stabilize her and you're more than free to visit when I give you the text." The Nurse told them what happened. Miho and Hana nodded while Azusa was carried away on a stretcher. Miho and Hana felt like the conversation should have never happened.
"I feel guilty of the events that I wasn't able to control. I don't know why Azusa managed to get this." Miho began. She felt upset by what just happened regarding her friend. Hana hugged Miho in her attempt to comfort her.
"I don't want to lose her either." Miho told Hana as if she was ready to break down into tears herself.
"Come on, let's tell the others about this." Hana explained, she began to walk with Miho as they were going to tell the rest of the team what happened to their friend.
Miho was shaken by what happened earlier that day and her friends were trying their best to comfort her. Saori was trying her best to keep Miho calm, Mako being absent minded and oblivious to this and Yukari was cooking with Hana.
"It's okay. I actually had the chance to talk to the nurse earlier today when I heard about the incident. They said they were busy with Azusa but they're doing everything they can to make sure she's alright. Hopefully she'll be able to recover and get back on her feet. Trust me." Saori explained to Miho that their friend was recovering and will be back with them.
"I hope so." Miho told Saori while she was trying her best to comfort her. Miho heard her phone buzz. She didn't know who it was from and she took out her phone to see who it was. "What does Yuzu want?" Miho asked herself. She got up and left her friends. The text said: Meeting in the Student Council's office, you're needed at once.
Miho arrived at the office to see Yuzu and a student waiting there. She wanted to speak to Miho in private about what was going to happen. Miho arrived and saw that the two girls were very similar.
"Oh I see the two of you looking similar." Miho began. She saw that Yuzu had brown eyes and a black ribbon while the new girl had blue eyes and a white and greenish blue ribbon. Yuzu stood up and decided to introduce the stranger.
"Miho, this is my friend Josephine Nanako, Anzio first year student, who helped us against Darjeeling and against the university. She's the M13/40 commander." Yuzu introduced her to Miho. Miho stood up and shook Josephine's hand nervously.
"Well I guess this is our first time we managed to speak properly." Miho began speaking.
"Yes it has. I am impressed with what you have done and I feel sorry along with Yuzu about what happened earlier today." Josephine told Miho.
"Wait? You know?" Miho asked Josephine if she knew about what happened to Azusa.
"I was the one that told her. It's one of the things I wanted to talk to you about." Yuzu explained to Miho.
"How is Azusa?" Miho asked Yuzu if she had any information regarding what happened to Azusa.
"Last time I checked was at the Nurse's office giving Josephine her bill of health to make sure she was clear and the spring allergies had been cleared for some time. She doesn't tolerate smoke well. Her bill is clear but the nurse advised caution to make sure she isn't breathing any soot or coal dust if she is going to shovel coal." Yuzu began. "And when I asked about Azusa, the nurse said that she was asleep and it wouldn't be wise to disturb her. She will give out the text tomorrow morning."
"That's good to hear, at least Azusa is… alright. I don't really know what will happen." Miho expressed her concern that her friend wasn't doing too well and she was anxious about her condition.
"I'm sure the nurse has it all under control…" Yuzu explained to Miho. Rosie meanwhile had arrived and she was watching the conversation from a distance. She didn't know what was happening and she knew she needed to hide if she was to keep going and find somewhere to make sure she was safe. If she was found out and returned to Kay, she feared the consequences of that. Rosie slipped back into hiding, if she was to get the trust to stay for the night, she had to ask someone else if she was to stay.
"Okay. I guess I shall be with my team then?" Miho asked if this meeting had concluded.
"You may. We will figure out the news of Azusa tomorrow and what will occur." Yuzu explained to Miho that the meeting had concluded and Miho got up and walked out. With Yuzu's word about Azusa and the fact that her second in command is going to be okay, Miho walked back to her dorm to see her friends. Rosie on the other hand tried her best to remain hidden and didn't want to be discovered. Miho walked past her as Rosie sighed. She didn't want to be found out regarding what was going to happen.
Miho had arrived back to see that dinner was ready and everyone had just sat down. Yukari heard the knocking as she opened the door.
"Just in time Miho." Yukari told Miho. "What did Yuzu say?" Yukari asked Miho what Yuzu said about the meeting. Miho began to think about what Yuzu had said about Azusa and had to figure out what she told her.
"Azusa's condition is… she told me there will be a text tomorrow morning about her condition and I managed to see Yuzu's new friend." Miho described the situation of what happened. Yukari gave a nod as she began to serve dinner.
"That's good but having Azusa's condition remain unknown worries us as Yuzu hadn't said any clear results. She told us that we will receive the text tomorrow morning which is kind of good but we don't know about our vice commander's condition." Hana explained to Miho that she remained worried regarding their friend. "So… who's the new friend?" Hana asked.
"Josephine Nanako. Yuzu told me about her while telling us about Azusa's health. She was making sure that she was healthy too as she had the summer job of shoveling coal." Miho explained to the others who their new friend was. The other girls piped their heads up as they were a little excited by this.
"The girl who knows how to run trains around here. I guess we can use her assistance as many of us have been freed up to do work between classes." Yukari explained as she remembered her a bit when it came to this type of work. "I bet the automotive club would be happy to have her replace Hoshino as she begins work in the next couple of days."
"Assuming Josephine knows a thing or two about cars which I doubt about that." Miho explained. She paused as something had also crossed her mind. "Does anyone remember getting followed by a strange girl earlier today? I felt like I was being watched." Miho decided to bring that up.
"Not really." Mako sighed as she wanted to sleep on the plate.
"The girl with the partial Saunders uniform? Her blazer and tie are missing so it's just the white buttoned down shirt and skirt." Saori asked before describing what she looked like when she saw her. "She had her bike and was most likely going to find a place to stash it."
"So we're not the only ones feeling like we're under watch by this mysterious girl. We can't call her a spy as she looks like she isn't trying to gather intel on us because we can assume her stripped down uniform, it gives an indication that she is looking for clothes to put herself into so no one could call her out." Miho asked if this was the case than Rosie was trying to hide by blending into the crowd.
"Believe so. We should probably keep an eye out on each other to see if events would shift differently." Hana gave her input as she continued to eat. Hearing outside of the dorm hallways was Rosie as people were talking about her, they sounded like they had no intentions on turning her in but at the same time, the words spoken from their mouths had made her nervous. Rosie slipped off and headed deeper into the school to find somewhere to shelter herself and find work.
Anglerfish team had split off for the night as Miho headed back to her dorm to think about what her friends meant by the nurse was going to give the information regarding Azusa tomorrow morning. Miho's second thought was the girl that had appeared to be following them around, she didn't know what exactly her intentions were but by the looks of things, she didn't know if she was going to stay, go to another school in a few days or was going to give the information to Saunders. Miho had the two thoughts floating around in her head and she didn't know exactly what was going to happen.
Meanwhile in the darkness of the forest of another school ship, five students pedaled around on their bikes as they were using their flashlights to navigate to their homes. The leader of the group was a small girl being flanked by a big one.
"Rowan I thought you said that video of yours is going to be complete, what was the delay?" Their leader asked.
"Got bored and decided not to follow along with it. I thought Mio had everything under control." Rowan tried her best to explain.
"I… I… I didn't know how you wanted me to say it. I said the same thing thirty times and you weren't satisfied with any of them." Mio tried her best to explain to Rowan that Rowan was being picky.
"Then we might as well do it thirty times more, Mio." Rowan told Mio that they might as well try a million times to get the best voice.
"Rowan I think it's best for a person like myself to take over as this is getting nowhere." Her superior explained that she was better off doing the recordings if it meant getting the right voice. Rowan's persistence was getting her nowhere.
"Fine. Just because you asked nicely, Hikari." Rowan told her as she too felt powerless when it came to this type of behavior. They came to Rowan's cabin before the girls stopped.
"Well looks like we're parting ways, get some sleep Rowan, we got a busy day ahead." Hikari told her friends as they parted ways for the night. Hikari decided to make her way to her friend's cabin to tell her the news about what was going to happen. After a few minutes she arrived at the cabin where two girls were sitting on the porch and just chatting. "Hello Ayami, hello Stephanie."
"Redtail, you're here. How is the work in getting ourselves ready?" Ayami asked how the recruitment process was going.
"Not good. Rowan thinks that Mio needed to repeat repeat repeat and we got thirty but to Rowan that isn't enough and she is willing to do more of it. I swear her indecisiveness is going to leave us unprepared." Hikari told them.
"This bad, it is only a matter of time before Saunders senses where their missing students are going and will make no effort to round them up as we can't easily defeat them with the few tanks we have on hand. Anything we have means we don't stand a chance if they decide to come. We have to figure out a way to defend ourselves." Ayami explained."We don't stand a chance against them."
"We better continue finding help and those that are willing to stick their necks out for us. We were funded by MEXT but with Renta Tsuji and Shichiro forming another rift between each other, it's becoming clear that if Renta wins, this school will be canned." Hikari explained that they didn't want to go back to their old schools as this place was their home and they didn't want to go back.
"We need to figure out what is going on and come up with a plan to counter them." Ayami explained. Stephanie began to speak. "Has Starclan spoken to you, Spottedleaf? We need more people in this school now more than ever."
"I'm not sure. They spoken to me many moons ago but I haven't heard from them since." Stephanie expressed the fact that she received a message but nothing came back. Stephanie paused as if she felt something was off. Was this the idea, their salvation. Stephanie's eyes lit up with excitement. "I might know something that will save our school. A girl whose hair and spirit is like fire will come along and save us." Stephanie explained. She paused thinking what or who this fire will be. "Yes! Fire alone will save our school! That's it! We need to find a girl who is fire!" Stephanie came up with the answer. "It's the prophecy that will help us defeat Saunders and vanquish Kay once and for all!"
"Even if that's true, where are we going to find the girl who is going to be fire?" Ayami asked Stephanie if she had any answers.
"We're not sure but when she comes we should let her into the school. All we just need to do is wait for her and when she does show up, she can train us." Stephanie explained. She dashed off back to her cabin to find out what this girl was going to be fire.
Stephanie entered her cabin and began to imagine what this girl would be in the lanterns that were lit up. Stephanie and the girl that the prophecy spoke of began to dance around in the light. Looks like this girl was coming and to everyone's surprise, she will. She paused as the shooting stair passed by her cabin. The specter of the girl looked down as if she touched noses with Stephanie.
"Coming indeed she will."
