So this is an old project. Just leave a comment as it does get interesting, even though I don't think there are that many Vampire Knight fans left out there. But Hopefully I'm wrong.

Night One

As the day reluctantly surrendered to night, Cross Academy underwent its daily metamorphosis. The imposing iron gates that separated the worlds of humans and vampires began to creak open, ushering out the Day Class students with their laughter and carefree chatter. Amidst this transition, Zero Kiryu sensed a stirring within him, an unsettling shift in his Hunter instincts, foreboding something significant on the horizon. He turned to his trusted friend, Yuki, and uttered a grave directive. "Keep watch, Yuki," he said, his gaze holding an intensity that signified the awakening of his Hunter senses. Zero was always prepared, always vigilant, as he transitioned from the Day Class to the Night Class—a testament to the unique existence he led.

Within the normal school building, the Night Class students experienced an inexplicable sensation. Even Kaname Kuran, the pureblood vampire who stood at the apex of vampire society, sensed an unsettling disturbance. His usual calm facade momentarily contorted into a subtle scowl. It wasn't until they gathered in their classroom that the inexplicable feeling intensified. Shadows coalesced into tangible forms, and the room was graced with the presence of a mysterious figure—a girl adorned in the pristine white uniform of the Night Class. Her silver hair cascaded like moonlight, and her eyes gleamed with a crimson radiance, unmistakably marking her as a vampire. While many Day Class students might have deemed her beautiful, the Night Class sensed an aura of tyranny emanating from her. Her slender frame and captivating visage only served to mask her inherent danger.

"Good evening," she greeted, her words laced with a peculiar blend of formality and whimsy, characteristic of a vampire's paradoxical nature. With a graceful curtsy, she revealed a glimpse of her pale thigh, invoking curiosity among her audience. Her eyes shifted toward Seiren, her loyal servant. An unexpected twist of recognition washed over Seiren's normally stoic countenance, rendering her pale and vulnerable. The girl seemed to teleport in an instant, her fingers gently grasping Seiren's face. "Ah, my dear Seiren, how could you have forgotten your devoted mistress?" Her voice transformed from childishness to authoritative command, her eyes glowing red.

Kaname's voice cut through the tension. "Enough, Kiryu." His words carried a calm yet subtly ominous undertone. The girl, however, chose to disregard his authority, causing discontent among the aristocrats in the classroom.

"Oh, poor Seiren, ensnared by that boorish man," she lamented, her anger manifesting in the shadows that surrounded her. Her sneer betrayed her frustration. "You will heed my command, Seiren. Drink my blood," she ordered with unwavering authority, asserting her dominance. Seiren, under the irresistible compulsion, sank her fangs into the girl's pale wrist.

As Seiren drank, the old bond between an Empress and her servant resurfaced, rekindling their connection. The girl's possessive demeanor intensified as she caressed Seiren's hair, her fangs glistening ominously.

With a triumphant smile, the girl shifted her attention toward Kaname, who had observed the scene with restrained composure. "Are you finished?" he inquired, his voice maintaining an outward calm, though a discerning ear might detect an underlying edge.

"What's the matter, Kaname?" she responded, tilting her head inquisitively. "Are you perhaps vexed by my reclamation of my loyal pet?" Her childish excitement suggested she viewed this encounter as a new game or toy.

Aido's anger erupted. "How dare you address Kaname like that!" he shouted, his outrage palpable. The girl's red eyes locked onto him, and in the blink of an eye, she stood before him.

"I didn't know Kaname had acquired a new puppy," she cooed, her demeanor shifting into a twisted form of delight. "Does it perform tricks, Kaname?" Her gaze pierced Aido, who paled in response. The girl's true nature became apparent—an entity beyond pureblood vampires, aristocrats, or any known classification. She was a monster. "Well, puppy, what tricks do you know? Ah, yes," she continued, holding her hand out, palm up. "Shake." Aido, compelled against his will, extended his hand into hers. "Good boy," she praised, releasing her hold. She danced out of harm's way when Akatsuki Kain launched a fire attack in her direction, her laughter betraying a sinister delight. "Are we about to play now? It's rather like the madness of the Mad Hatter's tea party."

Tension rippled through the Night Class as they remained poised to intervene. However, Kaname's raised hand restrained them, even as his eyes remained fixed on the enigmatic girl. "Rei Kiryu," he finally uttered her name, his tone conveying an air of both familiarity and caution. It registered with the Night Class that her last name was Kiryu, akin to a certain guardian who patrolled the academy.

The girl responded with a playful tone, revealing knowledge only she possessed. "Oh, should I reveal it? Or perhaps not. Your meticulous plans have been disrupted by my release, haven't they?" Rei Kiryu, a name unknown to most but familiar to one. "Very well, here's a hint. A certain Kuran set me free. Perhaps he's nearby." She directed her gaze toward Shiki, the illegitimate child of the man she despised, yet the same man who had granted her freedom.

"Enough Kiryu, I'm going to assume you are here to see your brother correct?" Kaname asks. At the mention of her brother, she twirls around to look at Kaname. She blinked, and suddenly appeared in front of Kaname on the table.

"Oh yes dear Kaname, tell me where is my dearly beloved brother. It's been years since we've seen each other. I heard that that hussy Shizuka Hio had..." She looks at the other Night Class students. "Never mind that is a secret between you and me I assume." She says. "But enough, tell me where I can find him. I heard he's been following some girl around like a love sick puppy." She frown cutely, thinking about that rumor she heard.

"Leave her out of this Kiryu." Kaname warned, his voice dark. It was then he realized he had misplayed his hand.

"Oh… is she perhaps important to you?" The cackle that came from her was like a hyena having found prey. "This is too rich. Out of all the beautiful people, you fell in love with a Human girl, the great Kaname Kuran." Her laughter echoed and bounced off the classroom walls. Kaname frowned not answering her. She hunches over from the laughter, and wipes tears from her eyes. "Well, since she's so important to you, I'll let her go just this once. But I must insist to see the girl. Who could make Kaname Kuran and big brother fall for her?" It was curiosity and excitement of a potential new toy or game that colored her tone.

"You can find him at Kaien Cross's house. Although he might be patrolling the academy grounds at this time." Kaname informed her. He was willing to sacrifice Zero to keep this woman occupied.

"Kaien Cross? Oh, you mean that Vampire Hunter right? I know who you're talking about." She hums thoughtfully. "Oh thank you Kaname for helping me." She reaches down, and before he can react, gave Kaname a childish peck on the cheek, causing a gasp to go through the Night Class. Then with a childish giggles, jumping gracefully to the open window. However she turns, her red eyes and figure illuminated by the moonlight. "By the way Kaname, I'm lending my pet to you. If I find you've don't anything unbowed towards her, I don't care who you are, I'll repay the same amount of suffering onto your loved one." Her voice was cold, sending a shiver down the aristocrats and causing Kaname to clench his hands. Then she vanished, body becoming a flock of bats, heading up into the moonlit sky to search for Zero.

"Kaname, who was that?" Ruka questioned. She had been terrified. That wasn't an Aristocrat but also not a level E or human turned vampire. So that meant she had to be a pureblood, but the name Kiryu means that, that couldn't have been possible.

"She's a monster," Aido mumbled, shaking from his previous encounter. Kaname sighed, body tight and controlled from annoyance. The appearance of Rei Kiryu meant that he would have to adjust plans to keep Yuki safe. And he would have to reveal about the Blood Empresses, something that only those of high rank knew. When the students grew, they would know, but now he had to reveal their existence early. He looked at Seiren, whose head was towards the ground in shame. He would also have to reassure her that he was not angry or disappointed that he knew this would have happened eventually.

"She is a Blood Empress, a vampire born to some of the older clans of Vampire Hunters." Kaname explained.

"But how is that possible?" Akatsuki questioned.

"Nobody know, but do not attack or provoke her. There are only two Empresses and they are about as strong as a puoreblood. Right now only Rei Kiryu is one we have to worry about. The other is under the protection of the Hunter Association." Kaname explained. He did know how Blood Empresses came to be, their existence and evolution much like vampires. They were more like Ancestors like him then they were purebloods. He looked out the window, thinking of how he could turn this unexpected event to his benefit.
