April 1st 1920
Chippewa Falls
Jack walked in from work at 6pm and threw his tie and blazer on to the sofa. He managed an art gallery for work, which he loved, but that particular day had been stressful.
He made himself a simple dinner of pasta before sitting at the table and eating alone, as always. His fiancé had broken up with him just under a year ago and he'd been heart broken ever since.

Just as he finished washing his plate, he looked at the calendar, also seeing it was the first day of the month he dreaded most in the year. He sighed to himself and went in to the living room, sitting on the couch. He couldn't believe it had been almost 8 years since he lost Rose… He couldn't believe that he had somehow survived over her. The last he remembered, she was on the door, waiting for a life boat to come and rescue them, but he was freezing in the Atlantic Ocean, essentially waiting for death. He didn't remember beginning to sink, but he did remember kicking to the surface when he regained consciousness, only to find Rose gone.
"Oh Rose" he sighed and rubbed his hand over his face. He knew he'd never get over her. Yes, he'd had girlfriends and a finance since Rose's 'passing' but he never loved them like he did Rose… she was the love of his life, and he knew he could never love someone as much as he loved her. After spending a while thinking about it, and knowing that in just under 2 weeks time, it would be the dreaded day - the anniversary of the sinking, he pulled himself out of his thoughts and grabbed his portfolio. Every so often, he would sketch Rose as what he thought she may have looked like now if she were still alive, and after how much he'd thought about her that night, he decided to do just that.

The following day
He groaned as he rolled over to turn his alarm off, forcing himself out of bed he looked around. 'Surely this isn't how my life is going to be until I die?' He thought to himself. He really had hit a pit of depression since Rose 'died'. Sure, he'd had a few ups when he was with his friends or in relationships, but nothing made him happier than Rose, and he'd accepted that.
(Sorry, I know this is a bit shorter than the first Chapter about Rose x)
