It had been a while since Ritsuka woke up to the feeling of his bed rocking. The sea wasn't that violent as to send him careening out of his sleep, but just enough for him to realise he was on a ship again. That led to the most important question… why was he on a boat?

After a moment, the young man realised his bed was a simple hammock; the sea could be even calmer than he initially thought. Either way, Ritsuka tried to get out of "his" hammock— BANG "Ow!" —only to fail miserably and hit the wooden floor.

Quickly recovering but nursing a bump on his head, Ritsuka glanced around "his" room. It was very simplistic with very few furnishings or possessions. Neatly folded on a nearby table were traditional Japanese clothes: a kimono, haori and hakama— all with a maple leaf design and similar colour scheme. More interesting to Ritsuka, there were three swords around the room.

By one of the pillars his hammock was hung from was a beautiful red and black katana while on a nearby wall was a comparatively simple but incredibly sharp sword. Lastly, next to "his" folded clothes was a glowing blue sword with an ornate golden hilt.

"So… I'm a samurai this time?" Ritsuka muttered to himself. While the third sword wasn't very katana-like, "his" clothes as well as the red blade that was close to his hammock were a good enough indication. "What am I getting involved with this time…" he sighed.

This wasn't the first nor will it be the last time he woke up in a weird place. At least this time, it seemed relatively safe but that could easily change soon. Either way, he better head up to the deck and see where he is.

Probably in the middle of the ocean (again) but maybe they could also be near land.

Ritsuka changed out of his sleepwear and put on what he assumed were his new day clothes. As he did, he noticed several oddities— namely, his hair was white now and reaching his shoulders. Either he aged overnight (which was slightly unlikely) or someone dyed his hair in his sleep.

Or he was in the body of someone else but that couldn't possibly be the case… right?

The other thing of note was the badge he had. It was carved out of a teal gem with a golden frame. It also gave off a slight glow and had an emblem of what looked to be a pair of wings in them. Ritsuka held it in his hands, creating a sense of both right and wrong inside him. He didn't understand why but he fastened it onto the back of his shoulder. It felt right there and helped keep his clothes in place.

After fully dressing and fastening the blue sword to the waist strap, Ritsuka headed out of his room— "Oh, morning Kaedahara." —and was greeted by a pair of sailors who were carrying some cargo.

"Good morning," Ritsuka politely greeted back with a smile. "How are you two doing?"

"Aside from the Captain making us work double time in getting these crates above deck, as good as can be," one of the sailors laughed. "Speaking of which, she wants to talk to you about something. Better go see her before we enter the port."

"Alright, thank you." He waved the two goodbye before heading down the hallway only to be told that the stairs up were the other way. "Oh, right. Sorry, I'm feeling a bit off today," he tried to joke and while the sailors accepted his excuse, Ritsuka still got odd looks.

Soon enough, he exited the deck to the beautiful blue skies and salty sea breeze. In fact, the smell of the ocean was nearly overwhelming to him but Ritsuka powered through it. He needed to find the ship's captain anyway.

Luckily, he didn't need to go through the trouble of figuring out who it was as the captain spotted him first. "Yo! Kazuha! Get up here!"

'Kazuha?' Now that he thought about it, those sailors earlier called him something else too. Regardless, Ritsuka went up the steps leading to the wheel where the captain was.

"Finally up, sleepyhead?" The captain, an older raven-haired woman dressed in red attire with a headband that covered up her left eye, had a jovial left. "You didn't even tie up your hair yet."

"Oh," Ritsuka knew he didn't really need to be embarrassed but his face still turned red anyway. "Uh, yeah. I knew I was forgetting something." So that was what that hairband was for…

"Yet you're still looking as fine as ever," she complimented. For a brief second, Ritsuka thought he heard a certain Ruler's voice in the captain before she continued speaking. "But don't turn too many heads in port. Let's not have a repeat of the last time we docked in Liyue."

"Yeah…" Ritsuka laughed along. "Anyway, I was told you needed to talk to me about something?"

"Oh, yes," the captain nodded and got to business. "A messenger pigeon arrived earlier and it's addressed to you. Here." She produced and gave him a sealed letter. Written on the envelope was "his" full name— Kaedahara Kazuha of the Crux. "It's from the Traveler."

"The Traveler?" Despite having absolutely no clue who that was, a part of Ritsuka still smiled as he took the letter.

"We should be reaching the harbor in a couple of hours. Go do whatever you want in the meantime." The still unnamed captain turned her attention back towards steering the ship towards the landmass coming over the horizon.

Ritsuka thanked her and walked away towards the bow of the ship, thinking that was a good place to think. He passed by several more sailors and those who weren't completely focused on their tasks said good morning to him or some variation. They also all called him Kaedehara, further confirming who he was supposed to be.

Once he reached his destination and sat down, resting his head against the wooden frame, Ritsuka let out a prolonged sigh. 'What is going on…' He mentally asked himself.

He tried to piece together his situation. Firstly, his name was now Kaedehara Kazuha and he was a seafaring samurai… probably. His voice still sounded mostly the same which was slightly odd since everything else about his body was different. At least that helped him keep appearances to everyone.

Next, this ship was most likely called the Crux and he was either living on it or a regular passenger since everyone knew and was friendly to him. The captain also said something happened in port last time, probably some fans of Kaedehara Kazuha causing a stir, so he had to be careful if he wanted to explore the harbor.

Finally, he was friends with someone called the Traveler. Enough so they were sending letters to each other like the one in his pocket. Ritsuka thought of reading its contents but until he figures out whether his mind was in the body of this person or he was simply thrust into and expected to play the role of Kazuha, it'd be an invasion of privacy.

For now, Fujimaru Ritsuka rested and felt the sea breeze blow against his face…

When he woke up, Kazuha knew something was wrong. His bed wasn't swaying, the ceiling was a sterile white instead of the homely brown, and there was a soft mechanic droning filling the air. It was incredibly faint but he could still hear it.

He pushed himself up and glanced around. Just like his room on the Crux, this bedroom was sparsely decorated but still nice to look at. It felt wrong to be here to Kazuha but he appreciated the quaint environment at the very least.

"But where am I?" He mumbled to himself. He noted the uniform hung on a hook near the bed and assumed that was supposed to be his but before he could think about anything further…

*knock knock*

"—enpai? Are y—wake?" Kazuha heard someone talking from the other side of the steel door.

'Who could that be?' The voice sounded similar to the funeral director's but less… eccentric. In any case, Kazuha responded with "Give me a second, please." After making sure he looked presentable enough, he went over to the door and opened it.

"Good morning, senpai!" The young woman with pink hair had a nice smile upon seeing him. "Did you sleep well?"

"I did," Kazuha hummed with a small nod. "And you?"

"Compared to the last few days, it was great," she replied before asking, "Do you want to go to the cafeteria together, senpai?" Hearing the offer of getting food made Kazuha's stomach involuntarily growl. His face flushed as the girl giggled at his obvious hunger. "I'll let you get ready first then we can see what they made today."

"Thank you…" Kazuha bowed to her, confusing the girl slightly, before closing the door. He stood there for a few moments before thinking, 'What in the Archons' name is going on…?' At any rate, he played along for now in other to avoid suspicion. The girl didn't seem to think there was anything wrong so he might as well keep going to figure out his situation.

A/N: ...Okay, I may have a problem of having too many ideas.

This story came about because I recently found out Kazuha and Ritsuka shared the same voice actor, Shimazaki Nobunaga. As such, it was natural for my mind to say "BODY SWAP! BODY SWAP!" and so this is born.

Expect a lot more VA jokes inbound.
