DAY 4, 2000 hours

A young buck from the Dingo Squad walked his usual patrol in the night air of the desert. It was a job not many desired, but he viewed it as a good way to protect his brothers and sisters from the dangers this desert held.

"!" He heard faintly in the distance. He tuned his ears to the noise. "!"

Cautiously, he grabbed his Standard Wispon from its holster on his side and approached the source of the noise. Rounding the corner of a nearby boulder, he saw the cyborg canary, sans her limbs, sitting propped up behind it. An odd sort of makeshift harness was around her body, but he didn't put much thought into it. "!" She said, not truly acknowledging his presence. He grabbed his radio to call it in before a blow to the back of his head knocked him out cold.

"-Did you get him yet?-" Cyber asked, having heard the thud of a body hitting the ground. "Yep. He won't be bothering us for a while." Jack replied, grabbing any supplies he could off of the buck. He tapped the side of the Wispon, and a very weary and scarred White Wisp popped out, clearly frightened. "It's alright, little guy. We don't want to hurt you. We just need your help to find the guys who captured you. Think you can lead us to them?"

The Wisp nodded, and popped back into the Wispon, using its built-in translator to give directions. Jack loaded Cyber onto his back. The removal of her limbs for this task had been her idea, as Jack didn't want to leave her unprotected in the cave. "-You know, SOME couples would actually be into this.-" She had joked when he did it. It had admitably gotten a chuckle out of him, the first one he'd had since they got into this mess. "I don't think his radio is good for anything but short-range communications. They probably have a bigger one in their camp I can use to contact the Restoration, though."

"-Sure. We wouldn't want this to be TOO easy, right?-" Cyber quipped from his back, eliciting another slight chuckle from the wolf as he followed the Wisp's directions into the belly of the beast.

Sneaking past the guards in the base, Jack and Cyber soon located the tent where they were keeping Raccoon and were delighted to see their Burst and Void Wisps in capsules on a table nearby. Freeing the two led to the Burst Wisp melting the chains on one side of Raccoon, while the Void Wisp just chomped his way through the chains on the other side. Jack caught the unconscious Raccoon as he fell, the jostle from the slight fall being enough to wake the bear up. "Hey buddy." Jack whispered. Raccoon just hugged him tightly. Jack hugged him back, not daring to imagine all that he had just been through. "It's okay, buddy. We're here. We're gonna get you out of here." Noticing the remnants of Lady Chao on the ground, he quickly picked it up, stuffed the head into the torso, then zipped it up before handing it to Raccoon. "Think your sniffer still works?"

The bear gave a quick sniff to the air, and then nodded. "Good. Follow my scent, you'll find the cave we've been hiding out in. Get Cyber and the Wisps there and wait for the Restoration to send somebody. If I'm not back within an hour, do NOT come looking for me." Jack ordered, loading Cyber off of his back and handing her to Raccoon.

"-Excuse me? Jack, if you think we're just gonna abandon you...-"

"Cyber, I know it's risky. But I'm the only one who can work the radios right now. You guys sticking around just puts this whole plan at risk." Jack said, before putting a comforting hand on her cheek. "I'll be back. I promise."

Begrudgingly, Cyber nodded in acceptance of this, and Raccoon loaded her onto his back, carrying her off into the night with the Wisps hot on his trail. Jack could only watch as their forms disappeared from his sight, before he put on his yellow face mask to begin his own mission.

Down below, a small scouting drone watched these events closely.
