It was a brand-new day—and the start of a new school year.
Serena:
"Ahhh! I'm going to be late! Mom! Why didn't you wake me up?!" Serena yelled, rushing to get ready for school.
"I did—three times, Serena." Serena's mother sighed. Yet, at the same time, she smiled because she finally devised a plan to get Serena to school on time.
Now, if only she could figure out how to get her to take school and studying more seriously.
"Bye Mom! Thanks for the toast!" Serena yelled, running out of the house with a piece of toast in her mouth.
"Wait! Serena, you forgot your school bag!" Serena's mother called from the door just before Serena got to the end of the sidewalk.
"Thanks, Mom." Serena replied before taking off again.
"That girl." Serena's mother sighed before heading inside.
Amy:
"Have a good day at school, Dear. Tell those friends of yours I say hi." Amy's mother told Amy as she left for work.
"Thank you, Mom. I will." Amy replied, finishing her breakfast before placing her dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
"Oh, I'd better be going before I'm late. I promised Mr. Graves I'd help him write his lesson plan on the board." Amy spoke to herself, noticing the time.
"Bye Amy. Have a good day today." Amy's elderly neighbor told her as she hurried down her steps.
"Thank you, Mrs. Vivian. You have a good day as well." Amy replied with a smile.
'I wonder if Serena and Mina will be on time today. I hope so; we're supposed to meet Michiru, Haruka, Setsuna, Luna, and Artemis after school to go swimming.' Amy thought to herself as she walked down the sidewalk.
Raye:
"Well, here I go." Raye sighed, looking in the mirror at her new school uniform.
"I still don't understand why you would want to quit your private school to go to public school." Raye's grandfather grumbled, watching Raye.
"All my friends go to Juban Public High School. And none of the girls at that private school like me." Raye answered her grandfather, slightly annoyed. She understood her grandfather's point of view. But she wished he would try to see hers.
"She probably just wants to meet boys." Chad teased Raye.
"Shut up, Chad. Why don't you get back to work?" Raye returned, embarrassed.
"Now, now, Raye, be nice. Now, head out before you're late for your first day at public high school." Raye's grandfather instructed, "pouting" a little.
"Yeah, yeah. I have plans for after school, so I'll see you later tonight." Raye informed her grandfather, quickly leaving before he could protest.
Lita:
"I guess I should be headed out." Lita spoke to herself, walking to her kitchen. She picked up five bento boxes for lunch before stopping at an end table.
"I know it's a lot, but knowing the girls, they will most likely forget their lunches today. It's the first day of school—high school. Things are bound be crazy hectic. Amy always forgets her lunches on the first day of school because she's busy coming up with plans to help the teachers. It's Raye's first day at a public school in general, and I know she's been nervously anticipating it; that's been the only thing on her mind for the last two weeks. And with Serena and Mina… Well, they forget their lunch most of the time because they're too busy scrambling to get ready in the mornings in hopes of not being late. Well, I'm going to be home late tonight, so I'll see you later." Lita spoke to the picture of her parents before heading out for the day.
Mina:
"Mina, get your behind out of bed and get dressed! You're going to be late on your first day of high school!" Mina's mother yelled at her.
"Oh, no! Why didn't my alarm go off this morning? I know I set it!" Mina yelled, panicking. She couldn't be late on the first day of high school.
"You were up late again talking on the phone about boys again. You set your alarm for six-thirty at night instead of six-thirty in the morning. No. No makeup; you don't have time." Mina's mom explained after looking at Mina's alarm clock. She then scolded Mina for getting her makeup kit.
"But Mom! It's the first day of high school! It's the most important day of my school life!" Mina complained.
"You should have thought of that last night. It's almost seven-forty, and you have to be at school by seven-fifty to be in class by eight. Next time, don't stay up all night talking about boys with your friends and get to bed instead. It also helps to set your alarm to the right time. Now, go. If you're late to school on your first day, I'm grounding you for a week." Mina's mom retorted.
"You're so not fair!" Mina cried, rushing out of the house to hopefully make it on time.
"And be home right after your swim thing!" Mina's mom yelled after her.
None of the girls realized someone was taking pictures of them from afar—like a private investigator.

Later in the Day:
"Thank you. You may leave now." Male voices spoke to a man dressed in a dark suit; they were shrouded in darkness.
"Yes, of course, young sirs." The man in the suit obeyed before heading out.
"How many girls do you think there are?" One male questioned.
"I don't know, but we'll look through all of them until we find who we're interested in." A second male spoke.
"Let's get to work." A third male spoke.
"Yeah, yeah." Two more males spoke, grabbing pictures.
"Too thin."
"Too fat."
"Too boring."
"Not single."
"Not pretty enough."
"Far too pretty."
"She's a lesbian."
"So is she."
"I think these three are men."
"Not single."
That's how it went for the last two hours. The guys couldn't find one girl they thought was perfect.
To most, they would seem too picky. But to these men, they had to be particularly picky; they had to have the perfect girls.
"God! How hard is to find one stupid perfect girl?!" One of the men snapped, losing his shit.
"Calm down." "Relax." The other four instructed with sighs.
"They're in here somewhere. Sit down." The first male spoke, looking through pictures.
"Here. This one seems like your type." One of the men spoke, handing the man having the outburst a picture of Mina.
"Hmmm… Mina Aino? Amazing at volleyball and gymnastics. A born leader. Has aspirations to be a famous idol. Can be friendly but has a temper. I think she's perfect for me." The guy spoke, looking at Mina's picture.
"I told you." The one guy mocked his fellow member.
"I think I like this Raye Hino. A priestess. Was in private school all through junior high and is now starting private school to be with her friends. Stubborn and determined. Writes music." One of the guys spoke.
"Lita Kino is a freshman in high school. Rumored to be part of a gang—but isn't and has never been. But she is tough. She likes karate, baking, and gardening. Loyal friend. I think I'll pick her." Another guy spoke.
"What about you two?" The guy who chose Mina questioned, watching the two who had yet to pick a girl they liked.
"I don't know yet. There are a few girls I find interesting. But none of them are smart enough to be on my level." One of the two remaining men spoke.
"You want smart. Here. Her name is Amy Anderson, and she's insanely smart. I mean, she's not Albert Einstein smart, but she is up there. Her goal is to be a doctor like her mother. She's a little shy yet is very kind, and very loyal. She seems like your type." The guy who chose Lita handed his buddy a picture of Amy.
"Hmmm… I suppose I'll go with her; she is better than the rest of them in this pile. So, that leaves you." The guy responded, not really interested, before asking the final guy.
"Oh, I have a girl already; I picked her out weeks ago after seeing her in an arcade. Serena Tsukino. Beautiful. Blonde. A little airheaded. Loves to have fun. Loves those closest to her. Big heart. Always willing to help out when she can. Her educational habits are lacking, but that doesn't really matter, now does it?" The final guy answered, showing the guys a picture.
"Her?" The other four questioned, shocked.
"Yes, her. And I will have her." The guy smugly replied.
"Whatever floats your boat, I guess." The guy who picked Raye replied, still stunned.
"Well, let's get to learning more about these girls. We can't just rush in all willy-nilly. We saw how well that worked before." The guy who chose Amy insisted.
"Right." The others agreed before going their separate ways…
