"It's not fair!" Alan sulked bitterly.
"Whatcha pouting about now, little fella?" Scott asked.
"You guys have such awesome costumes for Halloween - and I got diddly squat!"
With the sour look which was on his face, Alan glanced around at his older brothers who had just entered his bedroom. They were all dressed up for Halloween. Scott was wearing a skeleton outfit, Virgil was dressed like a monster while Gordon looked like a vampire. The youngest of the Tracy brothers was utterly jealous that his older siblings looks so cool and scary - while he had nothing to wear for this fun night of the year.
"We'll don't you worry, Alan!" Virgil smiled. "There's no way we'd leave you out!"
"We've got a Halloween costume for you!" Gordon added.
"You have?" Alan exclaimed, raising his eyebrows.
"Yep!" Scott nodded, holding up a rubber mask. "We had this made specially for you, little bro!"
"Oh really?" Alan narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Last time I let you fellas dress me up for Halloween, you put me in a bunny costume! Lady Penelope kept telling me how cute I looked while everybody else laughed!"
"Oh we've got you a scary costume this year!" Scott promised. "We asked Brains to install some extra features on it to look extra creepy!"
"You'll be the scariest of us all, Alan!" Virgil assured him.
"Well…"
Alan pondered for a moment - but he had barely any time to consider trusting his older siblings as they stood over him. The youngest Tracy felt his head being covered up by the rubber mask. Scott, Virgil and Gordon stood back, taking in how their little brother looked in the costume they had given him for this Halloween.
"Magnificent!" Gordon remarked. "You look really scary, Alan!"
"I do?" Alan asked.
"Absolutely!" Virgil agreed. "You can't get any scarier than this!"
Alan tapped the rubber mask which was covering his face. His mood was starting to lift by the comments being passed by his brothers. Maybe they were genuinely trying to help him after all.
"So what am I dressed as?" he asked brightly.
Scott gestured towards the bedroom window. "See for yourself, young fella!"
"F.A.B."
Alan didn't wait to be told twice as he quickly rose to his feet. He couldn't wait to see himself dressed in what sounded like such an awesome Halloween costume. He made his way towards the mirror…
…before freezing in alarm as a startled gasp abruptly escaped him.
Standing before him, present in his bedroom, was a familiar-looking figure. He was gazing intensely towards the blond astronaut. It took no time at all for Alan to recognise him. He knew all too well that oversized bald head, as well as those glowing yellow eyes.
"IT'S THE HOOD!" Alan hollered, stumbling back in fear away from the sworn enemy of International Rescue. "AND HE'S DOING HIS HYPNOSIS TRICK! HIDE, FELLAS - BEFORE HE GETS YOU ALL UNDER HIS SPELL!"
Horrified and full of panic, Alan quickly turned away from the Hood. He darted across the room, racing past his brothers before leaping over the bed. He scrambled into a closet where he intended to protect himself. He slammed the door shut, hiding within the tight dark space - before hearing his siblings burst into loud laughter.
"What did we tell ya, Alan?! You look so scary in your costume!" Gordon roared. "So scary, in fact … you managed to scare yourself!"
"Normally it's the Hood who wears all the different kinds of masks!" Virgil chuckled. "But it was you who was wearing a mask of him tonight, bro!"
"Leave it to Brains to make a perfect likeness of him, right down to his glowing eyes!" Scott snickered. "We just had to put it on you, Alan - so you would freak yourself out this Halloween!"
As he listened to the others revealing how they'd tricked him, Alan emerged from the closet. He pulled off the Hood mask off his head to reveal the unamused glare on his face. He directed it towards his laughing brothers. He would have gladly seen the funny side to their little joke - had it been been played on anyone else other than him. It was times like this when he resented being the youngest in the family, thus making him such a natural target for his siblings' pranks.
"Hmph!" Alan murmured grumpily. "I'll get you fellas back for this - by eating all of your Halloween candy…"
The end.
