(Somewhere in Brazil)
How did I end up here?
One day, I'm a human minding my own business, and the next, I'm an endangered species of bird in the Amazon and loving every minute of it.
I have no idea how I ended up with wings, feathers, and a tail, but it's not that bad. If anything, I prefer it to being human.
Before I became a bird, I generally had a good life, with very few problems aside from my dad dying a few months before I graduated from college, which tore me up inside because he would have been so proud of me. I was able to get over it relatively quickly, but I still think about it from time to time.
One day, I had decided to rewatch this (in my opinion, under-appreciated) animated film known as Rio. Although the story was generic, what really drew me in was the environment and characters, which were so vibrant and colorful that it beckoned me. I wanted to be there, as one of those birds, particularly a Spix Macaw like the protagonists, Blu and Jewel. One reason I wanted to be that kind of bird was because the color of their plumage was my favorite color, blue.
But, it was just a fantasy of mine, something to think about when there was nothing else on my mind. I had seen movies like Brother Bear, The Princess and the Frog, and Spies in Disguise, where characters get turned into animals, and the very idea fascinated me. I thought it might be nice to turn into a bird just like the characters in those movies.
And, lo and behold, here I am.
