HI MY PEOPLE!
It's me, Kadie Everfree and welcome to this one shot of yes, you already know: the Pixar movie: Elemental
And in case you're wondering, no, I'm not on drugs, nor did I smoke it very green... I just drank a lot of vodka this morning but I'm fine(?)
After many days (because this shit took longer than it should have) and suffering, I have finished writing this one-shot and it is ready to be published.
...BUT...
Before I even get on with the story, I think that because of the scope in which this story is being published I should make a few points clear.
As you can see, this one shot has come out a day before the Elemental movie is even released (actually i wrote this one-shot last year days after the first elemental teaser) its until now that i decided to post it here in AO3) and even I admit that the idea of doing it is pretty awkward. (I'm still in denial that I really did it lmao) I understand that many ask how I can make a fanfic of some characters and a movie that we really don't understand 100% and why I don't wait for the full movie to come out to make a fanfic well based on this and its protagonists and other characters.
And well, I have to give 2 answers for this
The first:
This is all thanks to the revealed synopsis and teaser trailer.
guys, the inspiration and motivation to write comes and goes :'x you don't even know how hard it is for me to have this type of ideas to create new stories, when it happens I must write them down as soon as possible, if I wait until the movie comes out I would lose inspiration.
I'm sure that when the movie comes out, I'll have new ideas that are more coherent and according to the movie
The second (and I don't know if I'm going to make you understand bc I'm really bad at explaining):
This one shot is based on what Elemental will be about, but not on the movie as such.
I see this one shot in a conceptual way, I am basing myself exclusively on the synopsis and the teaser trailer, but not on the film in general, see it as an alternative version of what Elemental will be or as something based merely on the concept of what propose the movie and my interpretation of the characters, okay? Okay.
And the last thing I'll say is that... well, I'm SURE this one-shot won't get too close to what the movie will be at the end (in fact, I can already imagine the comments when the original movie comes out lol it will be epic...unless this gets viewed after the movie's release i mean it is a day before-) , this will probably age like milk but what matters is that I enjoy writing it and I go back and repeat, I am basing myself on the Elemental concept mostly.
With nothing more to add, let's start then
Everyone listened to the tragic news of that lost forbidden love celebrating.
Wade listened to it crying.
Elemental City for the first time in a long time, looked gloomy, gloomy and charmless, he didn't walk the streets alone because he used to do it with her company. The atmosphere was not happy at all, it seemed that for the first time in his life, the whole world was transformed according to his destroyed feelings.
He didn't understand how it was possible that for an entire city, seeing the love he once had with Ember die was a reason to celebrate.
What was wrong with water and fire mixing for the first time?
He knew it was impossible, but he felt a lot of pain in his chest, as if his heart burst and fallen into millions of little pieces, it was an indescribable, overwhelming and agonizing pain that grew even bigger when he understood that he would never feel that tender affection that Ember made him felt again. She always gave him that feeling that gave him life every day. What was he going to do now with that love that wouldn't die but that she died?
Oh no, not now, please not now. He had just gotten used to feeling her hands truly, he had welcomed Ember into his heart and symbolically into his arms, he had vowed to be her love and hope that life awaited them. So why now? please not now.
Love came as fast as sadness... but the two unfortunately stayed together. Both emotions, of course.
Ember was fire, literally, but for that water man it was in many versions, she was the fire that burned in his heart, the fire that hypnotized his blue eyes and the fire that illuminated his world in the dark, he didn't want to live life just to live it.
"Be careful." Wade said to his beloved companion, paying attention to her footsteps.
"It's okay, I can do it." Ember indicated safely as she took very careful steps on the stones to fall on the cold sand, she and the moon were the only thing that illuminated the beach that night, when she recovered her posture, she turned to see her lover with a raised eyebrow "I already told you that you don't have to worry so much about me, it's not like I'm going to stumble, roll into the sea and vanish."
"I know, sorry, love." Wade replied embarrassed, lowering his gaze from her.
Ember sighed calmly. "It's Okay, sweetie, just don't worry about it, I'll be fine, I promise…" the fire girl then brought the palm of her hand to her mouth and with it she blew a small kiss towards Wade, who It transformed into a cloud of smoke in the shape of a heart, her way of kissing him "There is nothing to fear"
He accidentally touched her the first time they met inside that subway, he hurted her unintentionally, he knew it was impossible to feel physically for who she was, so Ember found ways to indirectly show her love, her way of kissing him. Wade didn't know how it was possible, but when she did that she felt like she was kissing his very soul.
He sighed in love with her and let her continue on the way, he walked on the wet sand while she walked on the dry sand, from time to time they exchanged loving glances and blushes took over their faces... if only they could... hold their hand.
The curious couple continued walking calmly along the beach, accompanied by the cool wind and the sound of the sea violently hitting the sand, they couldn't even remember what they were talking about during the course or what they talked about when they were together at the end, they had nothing nothing to lose or prove, they just wanted to be alone and be pleased with the love they had for each other, they couldn't physically touch but they weren't going to let that tiny adversity stop them from loving.
"There it is, there it is!"
Wade soon saw that they were arriving at their destination, so followed by a smile, he hurried and guided her. Ember, seeing this, didn't avoid squealing slightly with excitement and was on his heels, they arrived and climbed a fairly wide, large and high rock which was stuck together with other medium rocks which served as a kind of separation or end of the coast of the Sea, Ember didn't take long to follow him and make herself comfortable to finally sit down and next to him to look at the beautiful sea and its relaxing sound , which now lit up just like a galaxy thanks to bioluminescence, the water dude turned to see his beloved and her wonderful look at the world in front of her, her so innocent and pure reactions had so much joy for his heart, he just adored her so much.
"This is... this is very beautiful." The fire girl expressed in amazement, placing her hand on her chest.
"These are things that you can only find in Elemental City." Wade replied. "A trip to the beach is sometimes all I need to get rid of stress, what do you think?"
"...without words" she expressed, looking delighted at the horizon "...we should have brought a poet…"
"I'm glad you liked it," he said, turning to look at her tenderly.
"Wade…all my life I could only see it through photos or videos…but now, I can finally see it happen with my own eyes" Ember expressed with a voice full of surprise and tenderness "my people can't come here so often…I was never lucky enough to see the sea, because it scared me and it was dangerous…" lowered her gaze and hugged herself "besides, the rest of the elements do not usually receive fire people with amiability"
"Have you already tried to come here?" Wade questioned.
"Yes, but the moment I enter the beach they go in to yell at me, they insist that I was just going to destroy everything... some even dedicated themselves to throwing things at me" Ember said, crossing her arms.
"How unpleasant that they treat you that way." Wade raised his eyebrow, certainly annoyed. "They're just idiots. You are a wonderful girl who deserves respect and all the love possible."
—"t's something I've gotten used to...everyone sees me as a monster. But you, Wade, you are the only person who treats me like someone real and makes me feel safe…" she looked again at the night in front of her "and now I can realize everything I was missing on the beach…" she turned around to see him with a loving smile "thank you for bringing me here".
"It was just a trip to the beach…" Wade commented shyly, a bluish blush creeping up her cheeks.
"No, for me it was more than that." Ember expressed lovingly.
That night they left the beach, leaving behind a heart with "EW" written in the sand.
Just her and him in a mess together, just her and him that night, if they went down they went down together
Another memory, one that was only going to stay in his mind.
He missed her warmth and her voice so much, he'd gotten very used to being loved by her in such a way that not having her hurt him a lot.
"I'm Wade"
"I'm Ember"
He still vividly remembered that day they met on the subway when he tried to pick up her headphones, it was fire and water: natural enemies, the eyes of the others didn't take long to look at them judiciously but after many challenges and difficulties, they realized that at Despite being physically incompatible, there was something compatible between them: their feelings.
The Fire People were not treated with gratitude in Elemental City, no one would accept the revelation of their romance , no one in the city would see it as normal, everyone rejected it with hate. So they gambled with everything, they stayed together and decided to start their romance away from the public eye, a long time passed and they didn't know anything about Ember and Wade.
He didn't know how her mind had become so toxic from one moment to the next, so dependent on her love, on that need to be with her, to want to hold her, feel her and kiss her, even if it ended in the worst possible way, just when he had lost her, that was where his need to love her had become so strong.
He hugged himself as pain flooded the moments that lay in his corrupted mind, moments that reminded him of the enormous love he had for his queen of fire, until he couldn't take another step and collapsed against the nearest wall, he slid against the rigid plane until he fell to the ground, letting out a painful cry before bursting into tears, he didn't care if he was heard or if they found him in that state, he didn't care if it meant they would do something to him too , because his reality at that moment hurt more than anything they could do to him.
where was she now? Was it all a fantasy? Was she just imaginary?
The others didn't know about the things they did together, they did not know about their loves, but surely they will only feel jealousy when they see that they didn't have what they felt... but they did something worse to them.
so many memories that he had of her, of her smile and her pretty eyes impregnated with her love for him, but nevertheless he only thought of that cold and hurt look that she gave him before vanishing into his arms. She had become that part of him that he wished he didn't need, how so love was insane but she was the clarity of it anyway?
How he missed her, how she hurt him. He wanted her, he needed her, no longer emotionally, but physically, he wanted her caresses, her kisses painted on his face and vanishing like smoke, her hugs and her "I love you" words.
He could only have two of those things, both of which lasted so little.
Wade ran his hand over his tear-soaked face and sighed in defeat, his mind went blank for a few seconds until he reached into the small pocket of his shirt and slowly pulled out what appeared to be 3 photos.
His sapphire eyes now rested on one of the photos and he felt a deep hollow in his heart when he encountered the content of the photo: lonely and in agony he found himself with Ember in that photo…for the first time, taking his hand.
Ember ran quickly to her boyfriend's house, avoiding contact with the other elements on the street who were still looking at her with contempt and rejection, once she knocked on the door of her house, she was immediately received by him, who let her in without doubt.
"Good afternoon to the birthday girl." Wade received her with a flirtatious voice.
"Thank you, darling." Ember expressed her gratitude to immediately give her another "kiss".
"I've always loved when you do that, you know?" he said.
"I would give everything possible to be able to feel you." Ember indicated smiling as she went further into the room to leave her bag.
Wade watched her go, feeling very emotional.
"And soon you will be able to do it, precious." Wade murmured to immediately follow her.
That afternoon was the 27th birthday of the fire girl, she had been called by Wade, in the call she noticed something strange in his voice since he was excited and restless and insisted that she get to see him as quickly as possible, Being a fan of surprises, she took her things and hurried to reach her destination, not knowing that this afternoon was probably going to be the best one in her entire life.
"So, what is the important thing that you urgently needed to show me?" Ember laughed, already finding herself sitting on the sofa.
Wade sighed once more before sitting down on the couch with her, he looked so calm and happy at that moment.
"Ember, do you remember the first time I met you for the first time?" he questioned.
"Of course, yes." Ember replied curiously. "I dropped my headphones on the subway floor and your hand almost touched mine, it was a nice moment, painful but nice moment."
"I know it's strange for me to say this but…" his eyes focused on the hands of his partner, which rested on the sofa "I managed to see your hands for the first time"
"What does all this have to do with my hands?" Ember arched her eyebrow in amusement.
"...it's just that...your hands have always seemed so thin and delicate to me, they're very beautiful." Wade confessed with a sweet voice. "You said it yourself, I'd give anything to be able to touch and hold them, even for a moment."
Sighing, Ember looked at her boyfriend with a giggly smile, he was so right in every word, they both shared that dream of being able to hold hands like any couple in love could, but they both knew that it would only end in Wade hurting her unintentionally.
"Well... I-I don't want to make this long, so..." Wade's shoulders tensed as did he awkwardly played with his fingers and turned around to grab the gift he had left behind a cushion "...hehe, here it's, it's for you… Happy birthday Ember".
Ember blinked in surprise as she took in her arms what was a small, fairly flat white box and had a small red bow that kept it tied and closed, the fire girl looked up at him, still looking lost, With a small smile on her face she took off the red ribbon and opened the box... and her whole world stopped immediately when she saw its contents, it was such a surprise that she even dropped the box lid to the ground.
Wade felt that all the emotion he felt was about to give him a heart attack when he saw the stunned reaction of his beloved to see her gift, Ember remained intact, paralyzed and unable to process what that beautiful gift meant .
They were a pair of gloves, thin and perfect for slender hands like hers.
"Wade... is this...?" Ember was barely able to say, her eyes shone with intensity at how amazed she felt.
"Try them." Wade insisted gently.
The girl of fire did not take long to take them out of the box and examine them very carefully, they were black and made of a rather peculiar fabric, similar to her dress. Feeling excited and nervous at the same time, Ember arranged them well and awkwardly, covered her right hand with one of the gloves, she noticed that it not only covered her hands, it also covered her entire forearm, she hurried to put on the other glove and so admire how they turned out and how she looked now.
"Aaaaw." Ember blurted out in wonder.
"It took me a while to get them, they're not very common in the city so I had to search even in the darkest store in the alley, when I saw these in their packaging I immediately knew they were for you" Wade explained "and I have to say You look so pretty in them"
"... they fit me perfectly" Ember expressed with a smile and with a slight blush to see her boyfriend again "Thank you, love, it's a very nice birthday present"
"You're welcome, precious." The water boy smiled and got closer to her, he still looked a bit nervous. "But... that's not exactly my gift.
"no?" Ember asked "so…"
"It would be more like a key to be able to give you my gift" he expressed nervously, taking a deep breath "...we've dreamed about this for a long time and...it's finally coming true"
Wade with a noticeable blue blush on his cheeks, extended his right hand towards her, Ember perfectly understood what he meant by that…and it felt like a bucket of cold water on her head.
She could finally take his hand.
It was no longer just a dream.
Her reddish eyes widened and a crimson color accompanied her face, she looked like she was going to suffer the worst heart attack of her life, she felt so excited and so full of joy but she also felt scared, she didn't know how to react or what to say about it and didn't know how to continue, she had the love of her life in front of her waiting to finally feel her touch and she could barely assimilate it. She breathed nervously and it didn't take long to see her gloved hands, which were trembling, she swallowed hard and she prepared to do it.
both hands were approaching cautiously, Ember's fingers brushed against Wade's and that made her move away scared but she regained her courage and allowed herself to run her hand close to his, slowly both palms slid, until they were completely together and tenderly their fingers intertwined, they looked at the detail that their hands were different in size but still fit perfectly.
That was how she was withher other hand, joining slowly until they were also intertwined.
"...I have no idea what I'm doing." Wade expressed with a nervous smile "Am I holding them right? I'm not squeezing too much."
"n-no... don't worry, it feels good like that..." Ember replied sweetly.
After a few seconds, her hands moved away a bit to immediately take another position, now Wade held them in his, caressing the back of them with his thumbs.
"Your hands are so soft... I like them..." Ember confessed, Feeling moved.
"And yours are quite warm..." Wade replied, gently squeezing her hands in his, continuing to caress her. "I love them... I love everything about you, Ember."
The couple fell silent, watching together as their hands were finally together, feeling wonders sweep over their chests and stomachs, feeling their hearts beat against their bodies…feeling love.
"This... this is so cute..." Ember expressed with a broken voice, but happy, small sparks came out of her eyes. "I never thought it would feel this good to hold your hand."
"I know…it feels good…" Wade confessed, wanting to shed tears. "Very good…"
Ember looked at her lover with a giggly smile.
"You're incredible… thank you," she murmured under her breath.
Giving one last smile, Wade kissed her hands.
Tears fell on that photo of her, which he squeezed in his hands without wrinkling it and pressed it against his chest, only then did he feel that he could become attached to the last thing that remained of her essence. He could no longer continue with all that pain, they were wounds so deep that not even makeup could cover them anymore, he could hear the voices celebrating their separation from the one he loved the most.
How could anyone have such a rotten heart to hate Ember? How could no one else apart from him be able to see that she was a beautiful lady with such a pure heart? How could they not realize how much he loved her?
He could still remember that first time that he was able to hold her hand on her birthday, after that day, Ember was able to hold his hand when they walked together or rested, he was lucky that for the following nights he was able to kiss her arms and provide soft caresses, he was able to remember with bitterness all those times that Ember caressed his face until he left him asleep at his side, he still remembered the nights he slept looking at her eyes and woke up meeting them.
the water boy turned his gaze to the sky, feeling how the tears that blurred the sight of him ran down his cheeks.
He could touch her, he could feel her for what he had left of their time together.
Until that day, he kissed her.
"They do not know how special you are. They don't know what you've done to my heart" Wade narrated that letter written by him with an elegant and soft voice, while Ember was sitting in front of him, paying full attention to his beautiful words "they don't know anything about we, only I am a witness of how you are the match that ignites my heart creating an uproar, all this time I was searching and now that I see you every day, I realize that your fire was what was lost"
Ember smiled in wonder when she finished listening to it, feeling a lot of gratitude and tenderness for those beautiful words that her cute boyfriend dedicated to her, with her gloves on she took his hands with affection and thanked him for that show of affection.
He had no memories of what happened after he finished reading her love letter, he only projected that moment where Ember got too close to the written paper turning it into ashes. They exchanged glances, let out an amused laugh, and when they bumped into each other they kept silent, remembering how beautiful they were in each other's eyes. They awkwardly closed the distance, Wade's hand tightening on Ember's and her free hand caressing Wade's cheek, they lost themselves and stood there, unaware of their surroundings for the first time in their lives.
The last thing they knew was that they lost control and as they closed their eyes, their lips finally met in a kiss…their first kiss. Which unfortunately didn't last long, just when Ember was carried away by that act of love, she began to feel how Wade's lips burned her lips.
It started to hurt a lot, to the point that her way of reacting was immediate and followed by a cry of pain, she pushed Wade away and covered her wounded mouth.
Wade anticipated her, looked at her in silence, quite concerned. After a few seconds, he approached, questioning her well-being and asking for a thousand apologies.
But once Ember recovered, she didn't stop smiling and seeing him with a loving look.
"Is that how it feels?...it's wonderful" her words were those and he was automatically glad.
"You kiss so sweetly," she said.
From that, their first kiss, it hurt a lot but before the chemistry did its thing, Wade's lips left soft caresses on Ember's, which became immortal from that moment and it was like seeing birds flying through the sky.
He came across the photos in her hands again, seeing how beautiful she looked in them, as she had always been, and how beautiful they looked together, shining in the sky like diamonds, in those moments when se thought everything would be perfect and that would become his life, his beautiful life, it would always be him and Ember together.
At least in that life, they were sticking together.
He opened his eyes attentively, looking at the photos, remembering his kisses and their last meeting together, before everything came to light, he felt that at any moment he too was going to fade away. His mind, his body, no part of him could with that tremendous melancholy that consumed him, life had suddenly become so miserable and so empty. He simply needed Ember, he needed her majestic presence, her light, he needed to see her, he needed her smile, a reason to get up, but his legs no longer responded, his brain already was not giving orders correctly.
However, while he was just beginning his duel, the voices of strangers echoed in his ears, from the distance he could see the silhouettes of the citizens, their footsteps were heading towards him, Wade stood still, panting with fear, but very attentive to the voices that soon came closer, until finally, he managed to decipher them.
It was about a group of girls with character and a conceited and vain voice: a cloud lady, two water girls who seemed to be a pair of twins and a earth girl who had leaves growing on her arm but who were eaten by a plague of small insects. Wade was going to take the initiative to leave before they ran into him, but upon hearing the laughter and comments of those damned girls, his mind collapsed.
"So,did you gals find out what happened to that Ember gal?" asked the earth girl.
"Of course i did!" one of the water twins commented. "All of Elemental City knows that that fire bitch was killed a few hours ago"
"Until finally the city did something right and put an end to that disgusting romance she had with that water dude." The other twin rolled her eyes as she spoke in a singsong voice. "if they did it with that plague, they could do it with the rest of her people. I don't want to go out on the street and keep seeing fire people messing with us and wanting to make their disgusting romances look like something normal"
"Disgusting bitch..." the earth Lady said. "I don't know what she did to make that guy fall in love with her, but at least they didn't last long"
"I would say that it hurts me for her little boyfriend, but we all know that was an aberration" The cloud girl commented between mocking laughs "Fire only destroys, these types of people are a threat to our city, they went too far from the list taking advantage of the tolerance they have for their type of people".
"Let's just hope we don't have to see something similar for a long time." One of the water girls added mockingly.
"Hey, do you know what's fucked up?" asked the earth girl "that her boyfriend actually loved her"
and followed by that, the group let out a loud laugh.
The water man stood still against the wall, with his desolate and cold gaze focused on point on the ground, the more words those girls released as they approached, the more he pressed those photos of his beloved against his chest, his withering eyes shed tears... and a deep and nefarious feeling of rage, pain and anger shuddered through his entire spine.
How did they have the audacity to say such nasty things about Ember? His Ember. How rotten must their mind be to continue treating her as if she were just any piece of trash?
Ember was beautiful, the most beautiful girl he had ever had in his life in face, in soul and in heart, a lost princess who was unjustly attacked for being who she was: a burning flame of fire that shone with all the glory of she. The one he love and loved, which saw beauty in everything, even in witches like those cruel girls.
they kept getting closer… but when the girls passed through that alley, Wade was no longer there.
the city of snow, one of the spaces furthest away from Elemental City, visited mostly by tourists or citizens who were just looking for a vacation, it was a cold climate and environment, invaded by snow that covered the entire panorama, whoever took a step through There, was welcomed by a gust of cold wind and an almost frozen floor, so they always bundled up... but this time, he didn't.
Wade kept walking inside that place, with his mind still devastated by the loss of the one he loved the most, he only hugged himself while he was invaded by the memories of his first acts of love and his first kiss.
"Ember…" he murmured her name between bitter tears ".. Ember… my princess…"
She died to know if every time they touched they had that kind of connection, if she only knew how he saw her, she would understand why he loved her, after that day, she knew that she no longer had anything that could separate them, it was just them and eternity, no matter what society said when they found out.
"...I-I told you that...I-I told you that I would fight for th-this love...but I couldn't do it...I couldn't protect you when I most needed to..." Wade sentenced under his breath, almost fighting back his tears.
He kissed her for the first time and kept kissing her whenever he got the chance. No one could harm them now, when the morning light came, they would be safe and sound.
well, that was what they believed... until the light of his love was cruelly extinguished by them.
"I should've...done something..." he blamed himself in pain, from afar he could see it, a direct stab to his heart.
Someone had found out, he didn't know exactly who the stranger was but they had mistaken the occasion and found them together... lip to lip at the bottom of the subway. That love was so alienating to the sight of that person that discovered them, so he took photos and soon shared them throughout Elemental City.
The reactions? not friendly at all
Hate, rejection and shame was what was shared among all: a woman of fire and a man of water? it was unacceptable. When that love began to be known by more and more people. The demands to do something became louder and louder.
"I'm sorry…" Wade said softly, taking slow steps through the heavy snowfall.
That afternoon Ember told him that she wanted to go to the snowy area of the city with him, on one more date, Wade had been skeptical at first since it was a pretty cold place for her, but after a bit of insistence and puppy looks, he accepted. For that occasion, Ember dressed in a long gray coat that covered her entire body.
The trip was beautiful, Ember never imagined that something as dangerous as snow would be so incredible for her, Wade explained everything about that place and with the touch of his hand, he formed a heart of ice on the snow pavement for her girlfriend. Everything was perfect, there was nothing more to add, they simply loved each other too much, they were devoted, they had a connection that nothing and no one was going to break.
But that was where the tragedy occurred.
"...Ember…"
a gang of water people interrupted the meeting in a not very pleasant way, together with them two cloud guys served as reinforcements, from the beginning the couple knew that they were only coming to cause them problems. Wade protected a scared Ember protectively, he wasn't going to let them hurt her.
Everything happened so fast.
"forgive me…" Wade panted, falling to his knees, looking at Ember's coat lying on the snow in front of him.
They were separated without warning, the two cloud guys pushed Wade aside and kept him still on the ground, Wade struggled to escape and free himself, shouting Ember's name and kicking into the air, but it didn't work, his sapphire eyes witnessed how that gang of water approached her and began to hit her, leaving her weaker and weaker and with no opportunity to react.
"NO! STAY AWAY FROM HER!" He shouted furious and hurt, without ceasing to fight for his freedom "DON'T YOU DARE PUT A FINGER ON HER!"
Ember gasped and grunted in pain at the attacks she received, she tried to respond with kicks or pushes, but she felt worse. They took her unnoticed from behind, undressing her from her gray coat and leaving her exposed to the cold that began to weaken her even more, she did'tt respond well, she staggered awkwardly and her vision became blurry, so one of the boys didn't wait any longer and took her from His arms and without thinking twice, he lashed her violently against the snow-covered ground, which consumed her in a slow and torturous way, the lady was dragging herself in agony through all the snow in order to escape, but every movement was Stinging her body until the last moment. Her screams of pain and suffering tore at Wade's heart, and he was forced to watch as the love of his life was taken from his life.
"EMBER! NO PLEASE! STOP!" Tears began to flow from his eyes as he screamed desperately.
Excited, he struggled violently to get free, but it didn't work.
Wade remained defenseless, weak, watching as his partner suffered in total agony, he watched as the hot red of her being withered until it turned blue tones, her flames were now weak and she could barely move, she just stayed there. Still on the ground, hugging herself as the only way to calm the pain.
"F-forgive me..."
the gang had left, they only had to wait for the fire girl to disappear completely and end of story for everyone. Wade wasted no time in getting up and running towards the love of his life, who lay dying in the cold snow that little by little consumed her.
"NO, NO, EMBER! MY LOVE, NO, PLEASE NO!" Wade cried out in pain, holding her in arms very carefully, caressing her face."... M-my love... .my love please... no... no …" he sobbed with fear.
"..." Ember breathed low, even feeling very weak, smoke was coming out of her body.
For the first time, he could hold her in her arms without hurting her.
"H-hey, what's wrong?" Wade asked, delicately holding her face, he despaired when he didn't get an answer. "...please say something..."
"Mmm...W-wade..." Ember murmured, narrowing her eyes.
"No... Ember, my princess…" Wade brought her closer to her face "p-please... don't, I need you...you to be okay…"
"...W-wade...for...forgive me..." she sighed in agony. "for... please...forgive me..."
"W-what?" Wade swallowed through tears, feeling his heart break in two "w-why are you asking? There is nothing to forgive…"
"W-wade…" with what was left of strength in her body, Ember extended her hand towards her partner's cheek, feeling tears welling up from it. "... Loving you... was... easy, but forgetting you ... will be ... impossible. I know…that I will never…have another…opportunity to find-bring someone…who has loved me…for me…even knowing that we are incompatible"…
Wade would have preferred to die next to her in the middle of the snow than to have to witness such a cruel scenario, he couldn't believe that she was dying in her arms. Ember was dying, his lover was saying goodbye to him forever, she didn't cross his mind, she had passed through his life like a shooting star, but her brilliance would always live in his heart .
"This world... is so cruel... but I will always love you..." Ember expressed between weak sighs, struggling to stay alive.
"..." the water dude gasped, releasing small tears, placing his hand over Ember's face and it didn't take long for him to approach her and leave a tender little kiss on her now cold lips "I loveyou... I love you... I love you so much, Ember…"
and he did not listen to her again, he only saw how she closed her eyes and disconnected her feet from the ground, she was fading away in his arms until she disappeared and the only thing that remained were the sore cries of her boy who stayed behind with her, holding with her love until the last moment.
He collapsed, his body collapsed into the snow, as he hugged the coat of his deceased lover in his arms as if only in this way could he feel her presence again, that small part of his life which he lived with her was lost. Now it hurt like hell, he didn't understand... he didn't know how it was possible that everything he ever loved, everything that became a small part of his heart, was lost in a single moment, he lived there, he stayed there for her, for a future together, for a forbidden love for which without hesitation he would be willing to fight.
He stood there in the snow, venting all the anger and sadness he'd carried on her shoulders since her ill-fated death, never letting go of that soft, fluffy coat that used to belong to her fiery muse. Nobody knew about Wade, not even his friends knew that he continued after the departure of the one he loved the most.
He had so many happy moments, he had so many days where he woke up to meet her, he had so many afternoons where he held her hands and so many full moons where their lips passionately brushed…but now all was lost…everything had vanished, but at least, Wade stayed in Elemental City, knowing who his heart belonged to.
They separated them by death, but despite everything it was that love that in the end kept them together.
