It was a beautiful day in Green Hill Zone. A bright sunny day, without a single cloud in the sky. Animals and critters alike roam free in the area. Sonic was sitting against a tree with both hands holding his head against the wood. Tails was next to him working on his Miles Electric attempting to finalize an upgrade. Sonic was a little worried about him, he has been doing nothing but that upgrade for a few days now…
"Tails, I don't like to take you away from your work, but you've been working on that upgrade thing for days straight. Can you give it a rest?"
Tails doesn't respond.
"Tails? Buddy? You there?"
"I'm just trying to finalize the upgrade is all…" Tails finally says, still looking at the computer tablet.
"That's what you said 2 days ago! Give it a break, Tails."
Tails didn't want to take a break, not when he is so close. He doesn't respond to Sonic until he thinks he finally finishes it.
"I did it! The Chaos Scanner is fully operational!" Tails screams out loud.
"Chaos Scanner? Wait, that's what you've been working on?"
"Yeah, it should be able to scan more clearly than any other scanner we used before!"
"Nice job, Tails! That's great! But next time, don't push yourself so hard."
"Right…"
Tails then notices something, a shiny silver object peeking out of Sonic's quills. Looking closer at the object revealed that it was some kind of amulet. Sonic sees Tails' expression…
"Whatcha lookin' at, buddy?"
"Sonic, what's that in your quills?" Tails points to the amulet.
Sonic freezes and his smile drops so fast it looked like he just got spooked. He immediately puts his hands on his head feeling for the amulet and tries to hide it again using his speed.
"What's what, buddy? I didn't feel anything… Heh." Sonic laughs nervously.
Just then, Sonic feels something tugging his heart. What came next was the feeling of shock and dread. It surprised both him and Tails when he first reacted.
"Sonic, you ok? What was that?" He asks worriedly.
"I… I don't know…"
Before the two think of it any longer, Tails' device starts to go haywire with a new spike in chaos energy.
"The Chaos Scanner! It picked up a large spike in the forest. Wait, this doesn't look right. The scanner is reading it as powerful as the Master Emerald."
Sonic, who was glad for the change in subject, quickly said.
"Then, let's get going! It might just be a Chaos Emerald!"
Sonic starts to run off and Tails sighs before racing to catch up.
They enter the forest nearby and use the scanner as a guide to find this emerald. They couldn't see anything at first, but the scanner said they were almost on top of it. They looked ahead of them, but there was no sign of an emerald. Instead, there was a Mobian down in the dirt lying there. Tails didn't know who it was but as they were approaching it, Sonic recognized it and stopped.
"Sonic?" Tails asked after stopping from his sudden act.
Sonic was silent with wide eyes before suddenly sped past Tails, nearly breaking the sound barrier in the process. Tails caught up and saw Sonic holding the Mobian close to him, looking all over him.
The Mobian had a green color to his fur, with cuts along his body with dust and debris. He had a weird rough hairstyle with these quills sticking out. He had on a red vest with an orange pack wrapped around his waist. He was barely breathing, but Tails spots something around his neck. Another amulet, similar to Sonic's, but it was a dull dark gray and was nearly broken. Sonic was just staring almost with tears. Tails hears him mumble something, but couldn't quite hear…
"Sonic? Who is this? It looks like he just left a battlefield."
"Th-This can't be…."
Just by the sound of a familiar voice, the Mobian was able to barely open his eyes looking to the source and seeing Sonic.
"S-Sonic…" He barely spoke.
"M-Manic?! What happened to you?!" Sonic yelled.
"R-...Robotnik… He's back…He attacked…Mobo…tropolisssss…" Manic loses consciousness.
Silence fills the area. Sonic is just stunned with his eyes as wide as saucers. Tails was next to him and this hurt Mobian named "Manic," trying to understand what was happening. Who was he? And how does he know Sonic? Tails doesn't know him at all and he has been with Sonic all his life. Tails opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted with a question.
"Tails, Please tell me you have a medical scanner."
"Y-yeah, ok…" Tails uses his bioscanner from a previous upgrade to scan Manic's Bioscan.
"He has multiple lacerations across his body and a few bruises. No broken bones, but he needs help. Let's bring him to the house, we can treat him there."
Sonic doesn't respond and leaves so fast that a sonic boom was created and Tails was left in the dust. Tails tries to catch up, but gets another similar spike on his scanner. It read that it was coming from Angel Island this time, but that could be from the Master Emerald this time. Tails left it up to a certain Echidna to handle it while he raced back home.
Who is this guy? How does he know Sonic and where did he come from? What could've caused him to get hurt so badly and did he use Chaos Control to get here? Tails had so many questions running through his head. He wanted to ask, but when he saw the seriousness in Sonic's expression he decided now is not a good time.
(A/N) Thanks for reading the first chapter! I have been writing stories like these for a while now but none of them ended up being posted. They are just sitting around on my computer because I'm afraid to show. But this one, I am not. When I saw Sonic Underground I was upset there was never an ending to it, sadly confirming that they never found their mother. I say no! I decided to make this story combine the 2 continuities, both Game and TV Show. Hope you like it! By this update their should be a new longer chapter to read. Enjoy!
