The dialogue with Antman was difficult to say the least. Scott was aware five years had passed and what Thanos did but had no idea how much the Avengers had radically changed. It seemed he also hadn't eaten or drunk in his rush to get to the compound, so his speech was erratic and his behaviour was very impulsive. Every few seconds, he would get distracted by Natasha's artificial arm or Steve's extreme change. He would want to ask a question about them but swallowed it to avoid awkwardness. Both Steve and Natasha wished he would just ask to get rid of the awkwardness that formed anyway.
Eventually he blurted out the point he was trying to make.
"Have you ever studied Quantum Physics?"
"Only to make conversation." Natasha sarcastically replied
"Alright. So... five years ago, right before Thanos, I was in a place called the Quantum Realm. The Quantum Realm is like its own microscopic universe. To get in there, you have to be incredibly small. Hope, she's my... She was my..." Scott struggled to get to words out. "She was supposed to pull me out. And then Thanos happened, and I got stuck in there."
"I'm sorry. That must've been a very long five years."
"Yeah, but that's just it. It wasn't. For me, it was five hours."
Steve and Natasha shared a quick bewildered glance. How could someone go through half a decade in the span of a couple of hours?
Scott continued, "See, the rules of the Quantum Realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable. Is that anybody's sandwich? I'm starving."
Before anyone could say anything, he strode over to Natasha's sandwich and took a large bite out of it. Natasha didn't say anything, but Steve swore he could see the arm slowly glowing with electricity. He decided to get Scott to get to the point before it was too late.
"Scott, what are you talking about?"
"What I'm saying is, time works differently in the Quantum Realm. The only problem is right now, we don't have a way to navigate it. But what if we did? I can't stop thinking about it. What if, we could somehow control the chaos, and we could navigate it? What if there was a way to enter the Quantum Realm at a certain point in time but then exit at another point in time? Like... Like before Thanos."
"Wait, are you talking about a time machine?"
"No. No, of course not. No, not a time machine. It's more like a... Yeah, a time machine. I know it's crazy. But I can't stop thinking about it. There's gotta be some way... There's gotta be...some w... it's crazy."
"Scott, I get e-mails from a raccoon, so nothing sounds crazy anymore." Interjected Natasha.
"So who do we talk to about this?"
The unfortunate but obvious answer to that question was an Avenger they hadn't seen in years. The man with one of the biggest living heads in the world. Tony Stark.
