Shin trekked through the mountain pass, which was not as easy to get through as the mysterious cloaked person had made it seem. It was steep and very narrow at times, but she eventually managed to make it to the top. She saw something alarming, the sun. She hadn't been able to see it before, the mountains had been in the way. Now she saw that the sky was stained a brilliant shade of crimson, and while she wasn't quite sure if the sun was rising or setting, she realized she couldn't take any chances. Therefore she hurried down the other side of the mountain, which proved to be a bad idea. She made it only three quarters of the way down, then slipped on a loose rock and fell the rest of the way down. She sat up, dazed, but surprisingly unharmed. Before her now was the river. The water was moving quickly, but not wildly. It did not spray or splash. Still, Shin could not see the other side. There was a blanket of fog preventing her from seeing very far. How was she meant to get across? There was no bridge, not that she could see, and there was no way she was swimming. Then she spotted something, wondering how she hadn't noticed it before. Sticking up out of the water, though just barely above it, was a small stone platform that would be just big enough for her to stand on. There was another not too far away from the first one. Stepping stones? Shin sighed, this just kept getting better and better. But there wasn't any other way foward, so she got to her feet, and lept to the first stone. She lept to the second, then the third. Soon, she was leaping from one to the other with very little fear. The farther she went, the more she could see in front of her, and the riverbank finally came into sight. Only three stepping stones away, she slipped, plunging into the surprisingly icy water. She broke the surface, coughing, then swam towards the shore. The current tried to carry her away, but the water was actually quite shallow and Shin managed to propel herself foward. She eventually hauled herself out of the river, collapsing on the bank soaking wet and freezing. "I have to keep moving," she said, and so she did, walking into the forest.

Baylan removed one of his gloves and felt Shin's forehead, it was warm. A bit too warm. He sighed. Shin would not survive long without water, especially now that she had a fever. She needed to wake up, and soon. "Shin," Baylan said, unsure if she could even hear him, "You must wake up. I know I hurt you, and I am so very sorry. I cannot change what has happened, though I wish I could. But I do promise that I will never abandon you again. Please, please wake up." He had tried to wake her up earlier, to no avail. Baylan took Shin's hand in his, unsure of what else he could do. He felt just as helpless now as he had when the Jedi fell. He could do nothing then, except watch everything he knew burn to the ground. He could do nothing now, except watch his unconscious apprentice, and hope that she would come back to him.
