Dipper rubbed his eyes and let out a morning yawn as he gradually sat up. He cradled his head, realizing that the hangover had completely dissipated, which was surprising given the amount he recalled drinking the night before. Speaking of which... he couldn't recall much of the previous evening. When had he even made it back home?

His gaze settled on the nightstand, where his phone rested. He unlocked it and checked his messages, with Jake's message catching his attention the most.

Jake: Dude, where are you?

Jake: I've been looking 4 u everywhere in the house

Jake: Don't tell me you bailed on me?

Jake: R u OK?

Jake: Dipper?

Jake: Just called ur house, u should've told me u were going home!

Jake: Did you take a cab?

Apparently, he had departed from the party without Jake. Well, he must have been fairly intoxicated. But then...

His eyes abruptly widened as a series of flashes from the previous night raced through his mind, rekindling the memory of his peculiar encounter. He leaped out of bed, his realization that he was wearing only his boxers dawning upon him. Rushing to the bathroom, he intended to examine himself in the mirror, but it suddenly struck him: if he were a vampire, he wouldn't have a reflection.

"Wait a second..." Dipper muttered as he scrutinized his reflection in the mirror. He could clearly see his own image—something that should have reassured him that it was all just a dream. Yet, he also couldn't ignore that he didn't look quite like his usual self. His complexion appeared slightly paler, and he had a nagging suspicion it would become even more so. Stepping back to gain a better view of his body, he couldn't help but exhale in astonishment. He appeared more muscular and noticeably fitter than before, sporting well-defined muscles. Though still on the slender side, it wasn't overly so. His facial features seemed sharper, highlighted by high cheekbones that framed his crimson eyes, which exuded an inner intensity.

"Okay, maybe not a dream. The mirror thing must be some kind of stereotype, I guess?" he mumbled, his voice filled with uncertainty. "This doesn't look too bad... Ah! I-I'm a vampire!" he suddenly exclaimed, clapping his hands over his mouth in alarm as he realized that anyone within earshot might have heard him.

No, no, no! It wasn't a dream! He really became a vampire! What was he supposed to do now? How would he even explain his body change? Or better yet, how could he possibly explain the red eyes!? He glanced at his phone again, noting that it was 10 AM; his parents were likely already awake, as was Mabel. At least, if he was appearing in mirrors, it might mean there would be no issues with photographs either, right? With a sense of trepidation, he used his phone to take a selfie, and to his relief, he did appear in the picture.

That was one less thing he had to worry about and explain. Concealing this secret indefinitely wasn't feasible. He decided he'd wait until he reached Gravity Falls, ensuring no malevolent vampires were trailing him, and then he'd confide in someone. Ideally, Grunkle Ford would be the one he'd turn to. If anyone knew about a cure for vampirism, it would be him.

He'd need to come up with a believable explanation for his eyes, but if he dressed strategically, his parents and Mabel might not notice his newfound muscularity. After a few weeks, he could easily pass off his transformation by casually mentioning he'd been hitting the gym more frequently. Besides, he was planning to depart for Gravity Falls soon, where his sister would be the only one he'd need to be concerned about. She'd likely be one of the first persons he'd confide in once he was certain it was safe to do so.

He quickly put on some pants, then opened his closet to find a shirt.

"How do you like your new appearance? Feel any stronger?" Someone snapped him out of his thoughts, making Dipper release a scream and fall against the wall. "You sure love screaming, don't you?"

A man was sitting on his window, one leg on the window frame while the other was hanging inside Dipper's room. His eyes were red, signifying he was likely a vampire. The young-looking man was unnaturally pale. His features were sharp and angular, giving his face a striking, otherworldly beauty. His hair, jet black and impeccably styled, cascaded down to his shoulders in a glossy, obsidian curtain. Was it an obligation for vampires to have hair like that? He personally preferred to keep his hair the way they were.

He wore a black leather jacket with numerous patches and studs adorning its surface, giving off a rebellious, punk-rock vibe. Underneath the jacket, he sported a faded, band-logo t-shirt. A band that was not familiar to Dipper. His jeans were ripped and distressed and his boots were scuffed and well-worn.

"What are you doing in my room?!" Dipper asked as he rose to his feet.

"Not even asking for who I am?" The other vampire retorted with a toothy grin, showing off his sharp fangs. That actually reminded Dipper that he had sharp teeth, too, now.

"Well, I figured you are a vampire," Dipper responded, still weary.

"I'm Max. And you're the newbie, Mason, right? I was there when the boss talked to you," Max said as he entered the room, his hands in his pockets.

"Dipper,"

"Huh?" Max arched an eyebrow in confusion.

"Everyone calls me Dipper, never Mason," Dipper clarified as Max chuckled.

"Okay, Dipper," He said as he pulled out a small book of his jacket, and threw it at Dipper. The brown-haired boy easily caught, which surprised even him since his reflexes weren't so good usually. "That's a little guide on vampire biology and culture. Read it when you have enough time unless you don't care about being careless and dying. I'm here to tell you about your responsibilities to our clan. I hope you didn't forget," Max explained as Dipper slowly nodded.

"Yeah, I didn't," He muttered. "So what are they exactly? Am I supposed to make offerings to Satan, pray to him or something?" Dipper inquired as Max raised an eyebrow, then laughed.

"Why would we pray to Satan? Nah, it's nothing religious. It's responsibilities concerning our clan. The one you're part of now, you know? The first and most important thing is to know how to introduce yourself to other vampires so that they know you're not a stray. You're Mason Pines Lune, or Dipper Pines Lune, whatever, got it?" He replied.

"That's the most important thing?" Dipper asked in disbelief. Joseph must have had a huge ego.

"Of course. The boss is responsible for our actions and will sometimes feel the repercussions of stupid mistakes you may make. Like what Troy did yesterday," Max explained.

"Troy? That's the one who…" Dipper began hesitantly.

"Who turned you? Yeah. Stupid bastard had it coming though. It wasn't his first mistake. Just so you know, like our boss said, you are only allowed to turn someone into a vampire if they are your slave or a part of your harem. Considering you are a lesser vampire, you probably won't have either of those. Doubt you can even turn someone," Max finished.

Based on what he had gleaned, it appeared that lesser vampires lacked the power to turn others, and possessing slaves or a harem was likely a privilege reserved for higher-ranking vampires. He didn't have any interest in pursuing either of those options. His sole focus was on finding a cure.

"What if he turned me by mistake?" Dipper questioned, making Max shake his head.

"Nope! To turn someone, you have to bite them and share your blood with them. You don't do that by accident. Moving on, another of your responsibilities is to hide the existence of vampires. And believe me, even strays and rabid vampires are smart enough to know that. Unless you plan to turn the person, which you can't, you don't tell them a thing. If you do, well… You know," Max snickered as he ran his finger across his neck.

"Yeah, I got it," Dipper whispered in faint annoyance.

"If the boss calls you, wherever you are, then you must come. You drop everything you were doing, and you come to the location he sends you. Even if you're on the other side of the world. He can give us a mission or two sometimes. Either take out or intimidate stray vampires who wander in places they shouldn't. Or you could even have to silence some traitors. That means you must prove your worth,"

"How?" Dipper asked incredulously. The fact alone that he had to obey Joseph like he was some sort of henchman was making him nervous. Their clan may have been larger than he thought, and that would mean it would be harder to fight them off. Even with the help of his friends. However, they did defeat Bill, and vampires should be nothing compared to that.

"By becoming at least a regular vampire, dumbass. A Full Fledged Vampire. That's the correct rank, which you gain by drinking enough blood from humans. One of your responsibilities can also be to bring prey to the clan and provide them with blood, but for now, someone else is in charge of that," Max continued to explain. The mention of drinking blood instantly made Dipper sick.

"Drink blood?! No! Ew! There's no way I'm bringing any prey!" Dipper snapped in disgust as Max rolled his eyes. Since Max was also less intimidating than Joseph, he was brave enough to speak up.

"As I said, you're not the blood collector… Yet. That means it's not your responsibility yet. And did you already forget you're a vampire, dude? You must drink blood at one point or another, otherwise, you'll starve. Luckily for you, you can also drink animal blood. But you'll stay a lesser vampire that way," Max snickered as Dipper slowly shook his head.

"I'm gonna starve? But what about regular food?" Dipper questioned in disbelief. It was as if everything he thought he knew about vampires from watching movies or shows was stripped away from his brain ever since he actually became one!

"I mean, you can eat it! But it'll be tasteless, and won't fill you up," Max replied with a shrug. "You also have to learn everything in the book I gave you. Train your abilities if you want to be useful. If we ever get a new member, it'll be your job to inform them or educate them like I'm doing with you, right now,"

Dipper doubted he would be a good teacher, especially to a vampire. Not that he even wanted to try.

"Does that mean you were the newest before I was turned?" He asked, picking up on what the other vampire said.

"Eh," Max waved his hand. "I've been turned in the 80s, but considering vampires can live an eternity… I guess you can say that," He explained while ruffling his hair. "Anyway, where was I… Oh, right. You also gotta respect your seniors and higher-ranking vampires in the clan. Considering you're a newbie… You're basically everyone's punching bag," He laughed, earning a glare from the brown-haired boy. "If you find a vampire hunter, especially in our territory, it's your duty to report them. If you're called for a ceremony, then you have no choice but to come. And…" Max tapped his chin while looking up. "Yeah, I guess that's it for the responsibilities,"

"That's… A lot to take in…" Dipper muttered while holding his head. Oh, God, why did the Pines always have to attract weirdness and anomalies wherever they went?

"If you don't have any questions, I'll leave," Max notified as he turned around to get out through the window, only to pause. Suddenly, he turned around and flashed a grin in Dipper's direction. "Oh, right. Before I go… Don't even think about betraying us, got it?" He warned as he pushed Dipper against the wall. "Newbies often tend to think they're smarter than they are…"

"What? No! I wasn't even thinking about that!" Dipper retorted with a scowl. Okay, yes, he was thinking about betraying them and curing his condition, but they didn't need to know that, right?

"Dipping sauce! You awake there, bro?! I'll eat your pancakes too if you don't hurry!" Mabel shouted from behind his bedroom door, making Dipper sweat nervously. The brown-haired boy glanced at the vampire, who simply nodded in silence.

"Y-Yeah! I'm awake! Coming in a couple of minutes!" Dipper loudly replied, only to hear Mabel giggle.

"Sounds like you feel better than yesterday! No hangover?" Mabel questioned.

"Uhm, no! Don't worry, I'm fine!" Dipper replied, sweat rolling down his cheek.

"Alright! Don't take too long!" She remarked as the sound of footsteps going down the stairs was the last they heard of her.

"Your sister, I guess?" Max asked before sniffing the air. "She smells nice," He commented, showing a toothy grin with his fangs in full display.

"Don't you dare touch her!" Dipper warned him, suddenly getting braver as he slapped Max's hand away. The vampire narrowed his eyes, looked at his hand, then grinned.

"Looks like you care for her. I hope you can protect her and your family, Dipping sauce," He snickered in amusement as he turned into black smoke and exited Dipper's room through the window.

Dipper exhaled a sigh of relief as he gradually slid down the wall, settling on the floor. He knew his sanity wouldn't endure if they continued to threaten him every time they crossed paths. Furthermore, the likelihood of making a mistake loomed over him. He wasn't the same young boy he had been years ago, and he had no intention of tolerating their "bullying" indefinitely. There would come a point when he'd retaliate. However, he harbored doubts about his chances of prevailing. After all, he remained uncertain about his abilities as a vampire.

Unfortunately, he couldn't read the book Max gave him since his parents and sister were likely waiting for him downstairs. He quickly picked a hoodie from his closet and then got out of his room.

"Finally awake, champ?" His father, Alex, asked while eating a toast as he noticed Dipper walking down the stairs. Alex's smile swiftly dropped once he noticed Dipper's eyes. "What's up with the eyes?" He pointed at them, attracting Mabel and his mother's attention to them.

Alex Pines was a slim man with short brown hair and an unshaven beard. Considering he was working for a computer company and never hit the gym, he wasn't fit.

"Oh, they're contact lenses. Thought they were cool," Dipper shrugged, trying to sound casual.

"Woah! They are! Can I have a pair, too? With glitter!" Mabel exclaimed in awe. Yes, she still didn't get over her glitter phase, and probably never would.

"No, you can't, and I don't remember saying you could have contact lenses, Mason," His mother, Ariel, crossed her arms with a scolding look.

Uh, oh. She used his real name, and that only meant trouble.

While Dipper looked like his father, Ariel looked like an older version of Mabel. She had long wavy brown hair that flowed down her back like a cascade of rich, dark chocolate. She was of average height (a head shorter than Alex), with a slender and well-proportioned figure. Her eyes were a deep shade of hazel.

"What did you do yesterday? Jake called at three in the morning asking where you were because he couldn't find you! Do you know how worried sick I was?" Ariel questioned as Dipper rubbed the back of his head nervously.

"I just got tired and wanted to go home. I couldn't find him, so I just took a cab without saying anything. I forgot to send a text," Dipper explained, lying through his teeth.

"And I think know why you forgot. From what Mabel told me, you weren't exactly in the right state of mind when you came home. What did I say about drinking?" Ariel put her hands on her hips as Dipper looked away in embarrassment.

Meanwhile, Mabel, totally ignoring their conversation narrowed her eyes as she stared at Dipper's face.

"Come on, dear… He's 17! He's having fun at parties! I think he can have a drink or two," Their father argued as Ariel immediately sent a glare his way, making him raise his hands. "I'm just saying… He's at that age. You know how teens are at parties, you can't blame him for trying to fit in," He chuckled nervously as Ariel simply sighed in response.

"You're always too soft on them! Then I look like I'm the bad guy for lecturing them," Ariel rubbed her forehead in surrender. "Alright, just sit down and eat your pancakes. But promise me you won't get drunk again, please," She added as Dipper breathed out in relief.

"I promise," He assured her. He doubted vampires could even get drunk. Suddenly, someone seized his face. Recognizing it was Mabel, he didn't resist as she turned his head from side to side. "Uhm… Mabel? What are you doing?"

"You look… Different…" She muttered while humming in thought, sending shivers down Dipper's spine. Did she notice something? "Did you get more handsome or something? Overnight? Don't tell me…" Mabel gasped, stepping back in shock. Dipper gulped, sweating nervously but didn't say anything yet. She couldn't have discovered it already! "Did you hit it off with a girl, Bro-bro?!" She asked excitedly.

"Huh, what?" Her brother inquired incredulously as their parents smiled.

"That's my boy!" Alex laughed.

"What does it have to do with being handsome?" Dipper asked with a blush as Mabel playfully punched his shoulder.

"Confidence, Dipper! I told you confidence makes people prettier! When you were all over Wendy, remember? I bet you met a girl who was into you and gave you a nice boost!" She replied as she winked at him a few times.

"Yeah. Yeah, I remember. You were right," Her brother responded. That was a better outcome than them finding out he was a vampire now. Mabel snickered proudly before going back to her seat and eating her pancakes.

Dipper was also disappointed to see for himself that normal food was now tasteless. He couldn't even enjoy his mother's pancakes! At least, it wasn't disgusting… It still wasn't too pleasant to eat, though.

After that, Dipper tuned the others out to think about his next action plan. Since today was Saturday, there was no school to go to. His father would leave for work, and that would mean that only he, Mabel, and their mother would be home. Even if Mabel left to hang out with friends, his mother would still be home. It would be too dangerous to train his powers here.

Of course, he wasn't simply going to study that book about vampires, he would train to improve, too. Max wasn't exactly subtle with his threats when he warned him he would have to prove his worth. Moreover, that way, he would also be prepared to face any potential danger that may arise, and not just vampires either! Although Gravity Falls wouldn't face any threats as large as Bill Cipher, they could still potentially meet monsters too dangerous for regular humans. Of course, he wouldn't do anything crazy until he revealed his new nature to the others. He needed to be stronger to do that.

He would need to go somewhere else for some training, but finding the right place would be difficult. He didn't have a driver's license, so he couldn't use his mother's car either. He doubted she would have let him borrow it anyway.

Thankfully, except for his face, none of them noticed any other differences about him. After Mabel said she was going to see some friends, as he predicted, Dipper put his empty plate in the dishwasher and then left for his room. The first thing he did when he went in was take his phone and send a quick message to Jake.

Me: Sorry I didn't warn you. I was tired

After that was done, he checked the book Max had given him. It was red and the cover was nothing special since it literally had no title. Having nothing better to do, he began reading it.

As expected, vampire society was separated into different clans. They were numerous, and some clans only had a few members while the largest ones could have a thousand vampires. Each of these clans was led by a Vampire Lord since any weaker-ranking vampire would be quickly dethroned. Because of that, vampires didn't have one single leader that ruled over all of them.

Dipper narrowed his eyes as he noticed something interesting. While they had no leader currently, there had been a Vampire King in the past, the most powerful vampire of all. He was killed around two thousand years ago, at the birth of Christianity. Since then, no vampire was strong enough to try and reclaim that title.

What interested him was the various ranks, and most of all, the vampire lords. What he had in his hands could be his greatest weapon against vampires, after all! Indeed, since he was planning to get a cure, such a book would be quite useful in his and Ford's hands to fight Joseph and his clan.

He turned a few pages, looking for a list of ranks. There! As expected, once someone was turned, they started as a Lesser Vampire. Lesser vampires were also harder to find because their aura wasn't as strong and noticeable.

Lesser Vampire

(Vampire) Full Fledged Vampire

Blooded Vampire

Nightmaster Vampire

Vampire Lord

The more a vampire fed on humans, the closer they would get to evolving to the next rank. However, it also depended on the individual's natural qualities. Someone could drink human blood their entire life and they wouldn't go beyond the rank of Blooded Vampire. The rarest were the vampire lords, and only very few vampires could ever hope to reach that rank. They were like chosen ones. The higher the rank, the less affected they were by their weaknesses.

Speaking of those weaknesses, it seemed garlic had actually no effect on vampires. The sun did make them weaker and hurt their skin, but it wasn't deadly unless they were exposed for too long. Cutting off the head or impaling the heart was also a sure way to kill a vampire, but wasn't that everyone's weakness?

Fire also inhibited a vampire's regeneration. Since they could regenerate, it meant Dipper wouldn't have to fear getting hurt anymore.

Holy weapons were the biggest danger for vampires, though. They couldn't enter a church without burning alive. Blooded Vampires and the higher ranks wouldn't burn, but they would still feel agonizing pain. Crosses would burn them, too; Although to a lesser extent, especially if they're small crosses. Blessed chains would keep them from using their powers, and religious people who had enough faith would have a sort of barrier around them. They wouldn't keep vampires away, but they would get burns af if they touched a cross.

Huh. Did that confirm the existence of God? Dipper couldn't help but wonder. Were vampires affected by those things because a higher power actually existed… Or was it because of something else?

Figuring it was better to leave these thoughts for another day, he checked the page about the vampires' powers.

All of the vampires' physical abilities were greater than humans'. They were stronger, faster, and had better reaction time. Unexpectedly, they were much better than humans. And the difference between the two species only increased the higher the rank. As a lesser vampire, he wasn't that strong.

The standard powers were simple. Immortality, turn into black mist, turn other people into vampires, turn into a bat…

They also had the ability to instantly hypnotize other creatures with their eyes, but they needed to overpower the opponent's will with theirs. That power was more efficient with a higher rank, of course. He could train himself to turn into a mist or a bat, but he wasn't sure about this one. Not only because he didn't know who to use as a training dummy, but also because he didn't want to hypnotize people.

Vampires could also fly. Apparently, some of them flew instead of turning into a bat or mist because they moved faster this way and were stronger in solid form. Some vampires were strong enough to control the natural elements. It was ironic since fire was also one of their weaknesses.

Most of these were accessible to Full Fledged Vampires with enough training. However, controlling the elements was something only Blooded or higher-ranking vampires could do. Blooded Vampires could also drain life energy. Obviously, they couldn't do it as fast as if they would drink someone's blood… Unless they were a Nightmaster or a Lord.

As for Nightmaster Vampires… The only power a vampire unlocked by evolving into that rank was… Having babies?! Dipper facepalmed. Since when was that power? Wait, actually, it made sense. Most fiction depicted vampires as being unable to have children because they were technically undead. While Nightmasters weren't that fertile apparently, they could still have children on rare occasions.

As for Vampire Lords… They could cause illnesses or plagues, but… It was something only the most powerful ones could do. Unfortunately, Vampire Lords apparently had more powers, but the others were confidential.

Dipper scratched the top of his head as closed the book and sighed. All this book did was describe powers, some of which will never be accessible to them, but not how to learn them. He would have to do it all on his own! How was he supposed to even use those powers against these vampires when he just became one? Especially since he would never be anything better than a Full Fledged Vampire?

As he initially thought, he would need Mabel, Ford, Stan, Wendy, and everyone else if he ever hoped to defeat the Lune clan… And be cured. They would leave for Gravity Falls in two weeks… That was already too long of a wait.

He didn't want to feed on someone. He wanted to delay that as long as he could. Unfortunately… starving vampires would go crazy until they find prey and… empty it of its blood. The only other option would be animal blood, but the closest animal was Waddles… As he looked through the book, he searched for how long it took without feeding for a vampire to starve. His already cold hands shivered as he dropped the book.

Two weeks.
