Hi there quacklrbear,

I've in fact gone through a similar experience to what you are facing right now twice. She was my first child from my late husband and we have 3 kids in total, although only two are living now. I was 19 when I found out I was accidentally pregnant from my husband, my then boyfriend at the time, when we had gotten both so drunk from a mutual friend's party. I was so scared to tell him that I eventually made the decision to soon abort the baby without his consent, thinking he'll leave me or not support me once he knew, but I was wrong. When he found the pregnancy test, he told me that he will support me throughout, he did work himself off to save money for our upcoming baby, he was so happy. Not until I've gone into premature labor, all went downhill as we witnessed our daughter slowly die, and she eventually left this world, us. The guilt of even thinking of getting rid of her before still haunts me to this day, and I am already 37 years old now.

All went pretty well with our 2nd daughter, but when my husband died and I found out I was carrying our third child and only son, I was so depressed, thinking I can't handle to be a pregnant single mother, but with the help of some friends, I managed and have given birth to my son who's very healthy, only problem is...I don't see him anymore, he was forced to be taken away from me for personal reasons which I can't share here due to privacy, and it bothers me everyday if he is in good hands or not. So all I can advise you as a fellow woman is that children are the most beautiful and special thing that can ever happen to us, and that you won't realize their value until they're gone from your life. But it is still completely up to you if you want to give up on a chance to feel what a mother's love truly means since we pretty much are still two different people.

Truly yours,

mwintears

"Hey.", she flinches as she hears her brother's voice, she was so focused on reading the top liked comment on her post, yes...she had in fact logged in a day earlier than what she planned to do, she was just too curious to let it go on for another day and doesn't regret it, this was the first story she's read and it is already inspiring and heartfelt at the same time, she closed her phone puts it inside her jacket's pocket, zipping it up after, "You ready? the doctor is calling you in.", Chris stood in front of her, while she was seated on a waiting bench just outside the OB/GYN's clinic, her brother then unexpectedly giggled, pulling the small hairs of his beard while his arms crossed.

Claire raised her left eyebrow confused on what he's smirking about, "Why are you suddenly laughing like that?", she asked him and he shakes his head, "Uhh- nothing, you just reminded me of someone, getting lost in your own world, you're actually sitting in the one she did right now.", he explained, talking about a woman who he helped the family of months ago, "Anyways, you should go inside now.", he brushed off the topic and gestures his head towards the door.

Claire stands up nodding her head as she fixes her loose shirt and jacket, her brother steps aside as she walks to the door, grabbing the doorknob, she looks back at him, "Aren't you going to come with me?", Chris shakes his head, "I think you should be on your own to focus, I'll just be right here.", she nods her head again, "Fine.", she remarks to her brother before turning the knob and pushing the door.

As she is welcomed by a cold gust of wind from the air conditioning unit of the room, she sees the female doctor waiting on her desk, as soon as she noticed Claire, she spoke up, "You must be Claire Redfield, please take a seat.", Claire carefully steps into the clinic and closes the door behind her, walking towards the doctor's table and takes a seat as she is told, "It's nice to meet you, I'm Dr. Emma Scott and I will be your obstetrician gynecologist throughout your pregnancy.", she reaches her hand out to her patient and she shakes hands with Claire, "It's great to finally see Christopher's sister in person, he always tells me he's lucky to have a sister like you.", this is not new to Chris, she thought, he is always proud of her.

Claire smiles at the compliment still, "Thank you, and a disclaimer, my brother is just exaggerating what he might've told you about me.", the doctor giggles a bit before looking down at the paper she has in hand, "I bet he's very excited to be an uncle."

"Well- he's more excited than I am.", she states as a matter of factly. The doctor glances at the paper her patient filled up again before standing up and going around the table to start the check-up and Claire watches her every move, she sits on the chair across her and explains, "Your first baby, you're in the second trimester, and this is your first appointment, which is a bit delayed but your brother already explained your situation to me...so don't bother."

"Let's start off by checking your heart, lungs, and blood pressure, then we can move on to the ultrasound.", Claire nods without saying a word as the doctor takes the stethoscope off her neck and places it in her ears and starts listening to the different spots of Claire's chest, once in a while instructing her to inhale or exhale. A few minutes and she was done, returning the equipment to dangle on her neck, Dr. Scott reaches for the blood pressure monitor and knowing what to do, Claire extends her left arm to the obstetrician and she wraps the apparatus around the pregnant woman's bicep.

Moments later and all is done, Dr. Scott had gone back to her main chair to announce, "All appears to be normal from the tests, average heart rate, clear breathing, and blood pressure, we can proceed to the ultrasound now.", Claire doesn't know what to feel about this part, she's about to see her baby for the first time ever, she doesn't know if she's excited or nervous. The obstetrician leads her to the ultrasound machine, located on the right side of the clinic, surrounded by those typical blue disposable curtains around it, the doctor sets it aside to make a way, she instructs her patient to remove her red jacket and hang it on a nearby hook before she lays down on the uncomfortable hospital bed. Once Claire had laid flat against the bed, Dr. Emma then noticed her belly which she didn't before due to her loose shirt.

"You seem pretty big for a 14th week pregnancy, I bet that we could possibly be dealing with multiple babies here...or your baby is just big for the average- which I highly doubt.", she explains, and Claire was taken aback, "Wait...multiple?", she can't have one baby, let alone 2 or more. "Completely possible, but we'll find out soon so please pull your shirt up.", she was still shocked but obeyed, the obstetrician, puts gel on the sonography transducer, "This may feel cold, so prepare yourself Ms. Redfield.", she notifies as she finally rubs the transducer on Claire's bump and her doctor was right about the sensation as she rubs the equipment on her abdomen to find the fetus. She leans her head up to see where the doctor is looking at, it was the monitor and there she saw the oddest looking things she's ever seen, she can't make out a single thing that the monitor is showing, while the doctor looked joyful.

Glancing at Claire, displaying a confused look on her face, the doctor decides to explain and reveal, "Looks like it's indeed multiples...triplets to be exact.", she says, pointing out to each baby, and right then and there, "There's baby A down there, baby B in the middle, and baby C on top."

"This is very...unexpected-triplets.", Claire remarks, while she also silently cursing to herself, but deep inside, there's still this feeling of joy and surprise overpowering the negativity, triplets are not a common occurrence in someone's life, but it got the chance to happen to her of all people. As she looks at those little ones wiggling a bit in their position, she observed that two were very active...except one who barely moved, she became worried due to this, but then again, she's no expert in these type of things so she asks, "Why is the one on the far top not that- active?", she had to admit that she is concerned for the small being, after all, it is her baby.

"I think that the little one is just sleeping, and if not- one pretty inactive fetus is fairly common in multiples. But we will continue to monitor him whenever we can.", Claire sighed of relief after hearing one of her baby's is okay- but him, the doctor's word just ringed in her head for a second before she realized what she meant, "Him?", as she speaks this, the obstetrician looked at her confused before she recalled, "Oh my, I must've accidentally revealed the gender, but yes, due to the fetus being somehow still and you in your 14th week which the earliest we can tell, I could already tell he's a boy. But the other two, I can't really see that clearly yet due to them wiggling, so we can say that baby C is an early developer despite being the behaved one.", the doctor smiles at her, "But I hope this didn't spoil a gender reveal party, if ever you're going to have one."

Claire was still stunned by everything going all so fast for her usual preferred pace, but she shakes her head, "Uhh no, it didn't- don't worry, I'm not that type of person to throw big parties, I'd much rather keep it as simple as just tell people.", she defuses, it is true that she is that ordinary kind of woman, but it is not bad to live your life every once in a while by spending money, but right now, her earnings is just the right amount. Dr. Scott nods as if she can relate, "Anyways, to finish up this session, all we need to do now is listen to their heartbeats, and maybe try to see if baby A and B will also be still enough to reveal their genders just like their brother. Unless you don't want to find out yet."

"No, it's fine, I don't mind knowing.", getting the go signal, the doctor focuses on the display again and starts measuring the babies in a way that Claire couldn't understand before announcing a few minutes later, "It looks like, Baby A is another boy, if I'm not mistaken, and baby B is an only girl.", it's two boys and a girl, Claire thought.

"Not 100% accurate yet but we can double check on your next appointment. For the heartbeat, let's turn up that volume, shall we?", hearing her babies' gender is something she didn't expect to know on her first...and probably last appointment, understanding that they have pronouns beside being called it or they all the time was normal, but he or she sounded more humane to her and it made her even more guilty on what she had already planned to do to her children. But once she heard the heartbeats of the fetuses one by one and all together, she just knew she couldn't do it, the warmth she felt...she had already fallen in love with them, and that slowly but surely- she felt like her decision had completely changed.
