Quick A/N: Thank you for the reviews for the previous chapters' you guys. I didn't even notice that I had a spelling mistake in Chap 2 so thanks for pointing it out and I also only just realised that I did do the math wrong in the Pegasus duel so thanks. I'll try and be more mindful of that. For anyone that re-reads this book from ages ago I'm sorry for not updating for so long but I'm back now.

Enjoy!

Last Time...

"Be warned, Euliya. I will not hold back at all." He said with a gloomy and serious face, which surprised her but didn't deter her at all.

"That's all I want, Evan-san."

"Very well. Be ready then. Oh, and don't blink." He said ominously before he walked to the other side, with Euliya going to the other side.

"Let's duel!" Both teenagers said at the same time as their duel disks activated, as they stared at each other from across the field.

.

EVAN - WINNER

"What did I say, Euliya? Don't blink." He chuckled at his own joke before walking over to his blazer and picked it up before he left the arena.

.

"Well, that was quite rude, my boy... Oh well!" Pegasus shrugged his shoulders, twirling the wine glass he had in his hands. "I didn't even get to tell him that I was coming to the island to see him. Well, I guess it can just be a surprise for now..." He said as he stared out of the window at the rapidly setting sun. He smiled as he thought about the boy.

'Let's see how well you can do, my boy. Your results are what matters for us anyway. Let's just hope that he doesn't get too attached for now at least...'

Two days have passed by for the students of Duel Academy. As the time passes, they are slowly getting into a routine. One student was starting to get bored out of his mind. This student was Evan Richards, who has had nothing on his mind, except for the duel he had with Euliya, whom he is thinking about right now in the middle of classes.

'To be honest, it didn't even really register that she was playing Amazoness cards... They're a killer deck if you know how to play your cards right. I'm sure she'll get better in the future. Future... Future... What's the point of the future...?' These kinds of thoughts have been on Evan's mind ever since he started the most mundane and useless classes possibly ever.

The classroom itself was a massive room with over fifty seats stretching to the back and a massive teachers podium right at the front. Currently standing on it is the ugliest cross-dresser that Evan has possibly ever seen.

"Alright class let's get started, shall we?" The man/woman Dr. Crowler was speaking to the class, whom Evan had already forgotten about in his mind. "I know for some of you, this is your first time meeting me and I'm plenty sure that it won't be the last. For those who haven't I will only say this once. My name is Dr. Vellian Crowler and I'm here to teach you about the different types of cards and how to use them. Now can anyone explain the three types of cards? How about you Miss Rhodes?" He pointed to the beautiful girl that has only crossed Evan's mind once these past few days.

"Duel Monster cards can be grouped into Normal, Fusion, Ritual, Effect, with Trap cards and Spell cards as well. Trap cards can be divided into Normal traps, Counter traps and Continuous traps. Spell cards can be divided into Normal spells. Continuous spells, Equip spells, Quick-Play spells, Ritual spells and Field spells." She answered before she sat back down. As she did, she didn't notice the Slifer Red dorm staring at her like she grew a second.

'Perfect answer. So, she can study books, but can she play cards just as well?' Evan thought in silence as he stared at Alexis from the corner of his eye, not noticing Euliya saw him staring at her friend and was pouting at him.

"Perfect answer! Well done, Alexis! Of course, I wouldn't expect any less from one of my Obelisk Blues!" Dr. Crowler sounded proud from that answer.

"Yes Dr. Crowler."

"How about we go down a dorm? You! Please describe the different classes of monster cards." He/She pointed at a random Ra Yellow student who also looked bored out of his mind.

He stood up with that same expression on his face. "Normal monster cards have no special effects that affect the game state. Effect monsters have abilities or effects either one or both players benefit from while Ritual and Fusion cards can only be summoned by a special effect of either a Spell card or another Monster card." He sat back down before putting his head on the desk, making Evan look at him in intrigue.

"Hmm, well that is another perfect explanation, though I could do with that tone you have, Boy."

"Yessir..." He drawled out lazily.

"Hm, better go down another dorm. You, please explain to the class what a Field spell is."

He/she pointed this time to a student from Slifer Red with wild cyan hair and circular glasses. He was short too. "A Field spell? Oh... Uh, a Field spell, affects the uh... Field..."

"Come on, even pre-schoolers know this one!" Another boy from Obelisk Blue that was sat in the row below Evan called out, making Evan narrow his eyes at him.

"Come on Syrus, you got this!" That kid named Jaden Yuki encouraged from beside the boy now named Syrus.

"I think not, take your seat." Syrus did so without much complaint but had a depressed look on his face. "Now can anyone give me the correct answer, preferably not someone from a dorm of slackers?" He/she said which made Evan narrow his eyes again.

'Blatant dorm racism, huh? Well, that's one thing to check off the list.'

'You know Crowler, you really shouldn't be making fun of us Slifers. I mean, I beat you, so aren't you just making fun of yourself?" Jaden laughed and made fun of Crowler which made everyone else laugh as well while Crowler bit his handkerchief in rage.

Only one person wasn't smiling though, and that was Evan, who was looking at Jaden with a shocked look on his face. 'This kid beat Dr. Crowler? I wonder what kind of deck he has. I'd like to duel him one day.'

After the class finished, Evan was still sitting down while everyone was leaving. He was staring at his phone with a blank look on his face. He suddenly heard footsteps behind him, so he put his phone down onto the desk and looked behind him to see the familiar head of pink hair that he'd become so familiar with these past few days.

"Hey Evan-san! What you doing looking so intense like that?" She asked with a curious look on her face.

He just stared at her with a blank look on his face for a few moments before his eyes shifted to his phone that was laying face-down on his desk. "Nothing really…"

"Hmm…" She didn't look like she believed it, but she just shrugged it off, thinking it was really nothing. "What are you doing this afternoon, Evan-san?" She leaned close to his face, which he didn't really give a reaction to.

"I was gonna stop by the card shop for a bit to see if there's any cards that I can put in any of my decks. Wanna come with?" He questioned, which made her smile.

"Sure! Is it alright if I bring a few friends of mine?"

"Rhodes-san?" He asked, which she nodded to.

"Yep! And two more… If that's okay of course?" She gained a pouty look on her face, which made Evan gain a sweat-drop.

"No, it's fine… Shall we get going now?" He asked, grabbing his bag and standing up, reminding Euliya just how tall he truly is.

"Of course! Alexis, Jasmine, Mindy! Over here!" She waved to three girls who looked familiar to Evan but none that he truly recognized, except Alexis.

The three girls walked over to the two, which gave Evan a better look at them. After they reached them, he had finally recognized them.

One of the two girls he hadn't met yet was a girl with straight black hair that spiked out at the end along with golden brown eyes. She wore the standard Obelisk Girl's uniform but even Evan had to say that she filled it out quite nicely. She looked very attractive to him, not that it showed on his face. This was Mindy Hamaguchi, named the third hottest girl in the school, but from what he's heard, not a very good duelist.

The other was a girl with brown hair styled in a weird straight but spiked hairstyle paired with grey eyes. From what Evan could see, she wasn't quite as curvy or attractive from the other girls around him, but he had to say… Nice thighs. This was Jasmine Makurada, an okay duelist from what he's heard, and apparently uses an Amazoness deck just like Euliya.

"Hey sexy~! Woah, you're so tall! Hey, why don't we hang out sometime, just the two of us?" Mindy flirted as soon as she got close, which made Evan and Alexis sweat drop while Euliya gained a pout on her face.

"Mindy, you can't just flirt with every hot guy you see! You don't even know what he's like." Jasmine scolded Mindy, who gained a teasing look on her face.

"So, you admit he's hot too?" Jasmine blushed a crimson red as she stuttered.

"I-I didn't say that!"

"Yes, you did. Just admit it." Mindy sighed as she teased her.

"Shut up!"

Evan turned to Alexis, who was now standing beside him laughing lightly. "Are they always like this, Alexis-san?"

She gained a sweat-drop. "Unfortunately, yes."

He sighed before turning to Mindy again while standing at his full height. "Mindy-san, was it?" That got her attention away from Jasmine, who was still blushing madly. "Thank you for the offer. I might just take you up on it." She blushed as he said that and gained a flirty look on her face.

"Really~? How about we exchange numbers then and we can hang out in your room later~?" She got close to him, which made him smile at her attempt to be flirty.

"Sure, why not? But before that, is it okay with you ladies if we go to the card shop for a bit? I'd like to see if there's any cards that I can add to my deck." Euliya's eyebrow twitched as she heard that, but she quickly agreed.

"That's fine with me."
"Sure."
"Why not, cutie~?"

As they left the classroom while talking, none of them noticed a girl that was standing at the bottom of the classroom glaring at Euliya as they walked out.

They finally reached the card shop after a short walk with Mindy and Evan standing at the front while the rest of the girls walked behind them, with Euliya having a blank look on her face.

"So how tall are you, Evan?" Mindy asked as she leaned forward, showing Evan a bit of her cleavage from his perspective, which he didn't look at for too long, but she noticed anyway.

"Hmm… Last time I checked 203 cm? It might be more now though… It's tough being so tall, so that's why I slouch all the time, so I don't hit any doorways." He explained to her, which made her smile and stand up straight.

"Really...? You look so much taller than I thought you'd be… Is there anything else about you that's tall as well?" She gained another flirty look on her face, which made Evan smile and pretend to look away in thought.

"I guess so… You'd to see for yourself though." She blushed at that, and just stopped talking while she was ahead. The two didn't even notice the girls behind them all gain tick-marks on their heads.

'These two are ignoring us…'

"Anyway! We're here, so why don't we look around, yeah?" Euliya suddenly stood between them and exclaimed as they walked through the doors to the card store.

"Sure. I'm gonna go buy some packs if any of you wanna come with." Evan said as he walked straight to the counter while waving over his shoulder.

"I don't have anything else to do, I'll come with you." Alexis said as she walked to stand beside Evan as they walked together.

As the two left the other three behind, Mindy had a dreamy look on her face while staring at Evan's back, while Jasmine had a worried as she stared at her friend. The two didn't notice Euliya walk away without saying a word as she went towards the counter, and they didn't say anything either.

As they went to go and sit down at one of the tables in the store, they were in silence. Once they sat down, Jasmine broke the ice.

"Soooo… Mindy, are you serious about that guy or what? Didn't he seem kinda too flirty or was that just me?" She questioned her friend, who was still looking at Evan while he walked and talked with Alexis.

"I don't know, maybe? He's just so dreamy… I wonder if I have a shot though."

"I feel like you do, but he seems like the kind of guy who only cares about your dueling skills…"

"Maybe…" She looked lost in thought for a second before she gained a blush on her face. "Fuck… He makes me horny for some reason."

'What the absolute fuck...?'

"Master, I can feel another Duel Spirit within one of the packs over there." Arcana Knight Joker said from behind him, which surprised Evan.

'Hm, I can feel it too, although it's faint… Where's Morningstar and Triumph? Are they still asleep?' Evan asked Joker in his thoughts, which were connected to the spirit.

"Of course not. Do you think of us as so lazy?" A man with pale skin and hair appeared behind him. The man was wearing black and grey armour and had a bright red halo above his head. Followed behind him was six jet black feathered wings that were curled comfortably. This was Darklord Morningstar, his ace monster within his main deck. "Triumph maybe, but you never know with her."

'Fair enough. It's good to see you, Lucifer. How have you been?' Evan asked sincerely, as he felt he had a bond with the Spirit.

"Fairly well, my lord. My search for the spirits of the Condemned and the Indulged ones have not been fruitful. They are quite sneaky, my lord. I would like to give that Condemned one a piece of my mind though. Bitch." He cursed under his breath, which made Evan sigh as he's heard about this grudge his spirit has with this so-called, Condemned one.

Unfortunately, the two girls with him noticed him sigh which made Euliya worried for him. "Are you okay, Evan-san? You look spaced out." She asked curiously, as Evan looked at her with a blank look.

"I'm fine. I just want some new cards already so I can sleep." He sighed as they got closer to the counter. "Oh, by the way, Alexis-san. Whenever you could, would you be able to give me Jaden Yuki's number?"

She raised an eyebrow at his question. "Why if you don't mind me asking?"

"I heard he beat Dr. Crowler today, so I wanted to duel him and see how well he plays those HERO cards of his." He said blankly before looking at Joker and Morningstar from the corner of his eye.

'I know you guys used to be friends, Joker, so I won't destroy them, but remember that they might not even have Duel Spirits, okay?' Evan communicated before Morningstar disappeared back into his card.

"Of course, my lord."

"Hi there! Are you looking for some new cards today?" A cute girl suddenly opened the door that was behind the counter and greeted them cheerfully.

"Yes, I am actually." He looked around at the different card packs he could see through the display case before he saw Joker's transparent finger point at a box at the bottom of the case, which was hard for Evan to reach. "Excuse me, could I please have a look at these packs down here?"

The girl smiled and grabbed a key before opening the display case and grabbing the box that he pointed to and placed it upon the counter for him to look at. "Here you go! Each pack is five dollars or 100 Duel Points, so pick whichever one you want!" She said before he gained a sweat-drop on his head.

"Duel Points?" He asked curiously, which made her falter a bit.

"Um, were you not explained this in your new PDA that the new students got?" She questioned, which made him blanche as he never remembered getting a PDA.

"It was that package that was in your room when you settled into the dorm on the first day, Evan-san." Euliya explained from behind him, as he reached into his memory.

"Oh! That box on my bed that I stored away? Damn, I should've thought that was important." He sighed, angry with himself, while all three girls sweat-dropped. "Never mind then, I'll just pay with my money…"

"O-Okay...!"

After paying for a single card park with his phone, the three of them went to go sit at the table that was inhabited by Mindy and Jasmine, who were chatting comfortably. As they walked, Euliya and Alexis were chatting in front of him while he walked slower, looking at the singular pack in his hand.

He was feeling the dim energy of a duel spirit within the pack. With no spirit behind him and the two girls in front distracted, he opened the pack quickly and discarded every other card into his pocket except one. He held the card in his hand for a moment before he felt one of his spirits appear behind him.

"The Chaos Kingdom's Sorcerer, huh? I think Triumph and Joker's original king was good friends with the Chaos Kingdom. What a coincidence that they would meet again here." As he stared at the card in his hand, Chaos Sorcerer with a blank face. "It's going to be a while before he wakes up master. Want me to tell Triumph and Joker that he's the one you found?"

'No, they can meet him themselves when they decide to come out. Meanwhile, I want you and Asmodeus to continue searching for spirits from within the Spirit Realm that would be willing to help me in my journey. If it's anyone that can do it, it's you two. I'm counting on you.' He communicated with Morningstar calmly as he opened the case for his Knights deck and pocketed the card quickly. As he did so, Morningstar quietly dissipated with a smile as he pulled out the other cards that he pulled. 'Trash… Oh… Maybe not this one.' He pocketed the three cards he doesn't like back into his pocket before he opened the case for his Darklord case and pocketed the other card which he felt he might need later.

Little did he know, Euliya was staring at him from the corner of her eye with a frown on her face. 'I wonder what he's thinking about so intensely… And just what cards did he pull?'

"Evan, what card did you pull?" Alexis cut into Evan and Euliya's thoughts with a question.

"Hm… Chaos Sorcerer…" He said calmly as they continued walking.

Alexis gained a shocked look on her face. "Chaos Sorcerer?! That card is super rare, and to think you got that from this card shop of all places…" She wondered just what kind of luck this boy has.

"Whatever… I just wanna sleep…" He sighed as he walked ahead of the two girls, while one had a concerned look on her face.

'Evan-san…' Euliya was concerned as she stared at his back, but disregarded her thoughts as she walked faster to catch up to him.

It was late at night on the island for Duel Academy. In the Obelisk Blue male's dorm, there was a boy simply lying in bed with his eyes closed. He wasn't asleep though.

'I can't sleep.'

This was Evan Richards. Evan was currently in a predicament. It's been a couple of hours since he obtained the Chaos Sorcerer card and has been wanting to see how it would fair in a duel.

'No-one wanted to duel me. This blows…'

He just didn't want to ask anyone.

A beep from his phone alerted him and woke him up from his bored state. He quickly sat up before grabbing his phone off his drawer from the side of his bed. He saw that it was a message from Euliya, which surprised him. He opened his phone and looked at the text for a few minutes before rapidly replying. In the blink of an eye, he jumped out of bed and quickly changed into a large hoodie before opening his balcony window and jumping out of it. Luckily, his room was on the second floor, so he didn't falter much when he landed before he started to run quickly.

As he was running, Arcana Triumph Joker appeared beside him, also running. "My Lord, why are you running so fast for? Is it because of that message you got?"

'Yes Joker. I finally have a chance to get some excitement. You also get a chance to see if those HERO cards Jaden has are duel spirits or not.' Evan communicated to Joker through his thoughts.

Joker looked temporarily shocked before he grew a stern face. "Very well." He said before disappearing into his card, allowing Evan to continue running, although he had now adopted a terrifying grin that would scar any person he came across.

After a few minutes, he finally arrived at his destination. He looked over at the old shack - that was called a dorm – in disgust, before looking around. He decided to rest a bit as he waited for his target to arrive. He sat down on the stairs that led to the second story of the Slifer Red dorm and sighed.

'Let's hope he arrives soon. I can't hold my excitement any longer…'

As he thought this, he heard some voices from the distance. From what he could hear, one of the voices was laughing at the other, who was yelling at him. Finally, the source of those voices finally came into view, making him smile as he saw them.

One of them was a tall boy who wore the standard Slifer uniform, although it was unbuttoned and showed a black shirt underneath. He had distinct brown eyes and brown hair that resembled Kuriboh. He had his hands interlocked behind his head as he laughed at his much shorter friend. That was obviously Jaden Yuki, the current target for Evan's excitement.

The one next to him he also recognized. He was much shorter than Jaden also with the standard Slifer uniform. He wore glass that covered grey coloured eyes and light blue hair that expanded out wildly. This was the boy Syrus, who failed to answer Dr. Crowler's question in class.

Evan failed to pay him much mind, as he simply stared at Jaden with intrigue. The boy looked so carefree that was slightly jealous. As they walked closer, he leaned his head into his palm that was resting on his knee.

After a few moments, Syrus seemed to notice him as he stopped walking, making Jaden stop as well, noticing Syrus' sudden look of recognition.

"Hey Sy, what's up?" Evan heard Jaden ask before he also looked ahead of him and saw the boy.

Evan had his hair in a lazily done ponytail along with plain black hoodie and grey sweatpants. Unknown to the two boys, they shared their thoughts perfectly.

'Shady.'
'Shady.'

As they stopped walking, Evan noticed they had no intention of coming towards him anymore, so he stood up and started to walk towards them, either not noticing - or caring – Syrus's face getting more nervous at every step he took. He finally stopped a few feet in front of the two boys, one nervous, the other blank.

"Are you Jaden Yuki?" He asked, although he already knew. The way excitement sprung into Jaden's eyes made Evan smile inwardly. He was like a kid.

"That's right! Bro, you're so tall! What have they been feeding you?" Jaden laughed half-heartedly, his nervousness about Evan's shadiness gone. "Wait, who are you anyway?"

"My name is Evan Richards. I'm in Obelisk Blue. I heard about your duel with Alexis earlier…" He stated, making Jaden smile sheepishly.

"Oh yeah~! Haha! Guess I'm getting pretty popular, right Sy?" Jaden asked, turning to Syrus, who looked nervous at the sight of how much taller Evan is compared to him.

"I have a request, Yuki-san." Evan said, cutting off Syrus as he was about to speak. Jaden's eyes turned curious, making Evan smile. "I would like the honour to duel you. Since you defeated Alexis-san, I'm sure you're good. But I want to see how good you are with those HERO cards of yours." He explained, making Jaden smile widely.

"Of course, dude! I'm up for a duel at any time!" Jaden exclaimed with a thumbs-up, making Evan smile.

"Right." He said with a chuckle as he stepped back a few feet to put some space between the two of them. "Shall we begin then, Yuki-san?" He asked, turning his duel disk on.

"Uh, Jaden, I don't think this is- "

"It's alright Sy. I'll be fine. Also, you can drop the Yuki and the san dude. You can just call me Jaden!" He said with a smile while also giving a thumbs to Syrus – who looked nervous about the situation – before he also turned his duel disk on.

"Very well then. Let's start, shall we Jaden?" He question with a smile as he entered his deck into the slot.

"Yeah man! Get your game on!"

DUEL

EVAN – 4000
JADEN – 4000

"You can start, Jaden. I asked you for this anyway." Evan said as he drew five cards, scanning over them briefly before looking at Jaden, who just drew his sixth card.

JADEN – 6 CARDS

"Sure! I'll get started hot then! First, I activate Polymerization to fuse my Avian and Burstinatrix together to create Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!" He said as a monster made of mostly green appeared on the field fiercely.

Elemental HERO Flame Wingman – (LV6) – WARRIOR – WIND – (2100/1200)

"Next, I'll summon my Elemental Hero Clayman in defence mode!" He exclaimed as he slammed another card onto his disk. A large monster appeared who was made from hardened clay and was kneeling with its arms crossed.

Elemental HERO Clayman – (LV4) – WARRIOR – EARTH – (800/2000)

"I'll place one card face down and end my turn! Not a bad start, huh?" Jaden asked with a grin, while Evan was drawing his sixth card.

EVAN – 6 CARDS

"Of course not. Possibly the best start you could've had… Although, it's not better than me of course! First, I'll play the spell card Pot of Greed to draw two cards." He drew two cards quickly before smiling. "Next I'll summon my first monster, Marauding Captain, who has an interesting effect." He placed the card on his desk, making a knight with blonde hair and two swords appear.

Marauding Captain – (LV3) – WARRIOR – EARTH – (1200/400)

"Really?" Jaden asks as he tilts his head. "What does he do?"

"How about I show you? When he's summoned to the field, I can special summon any level four or lower monster from my hand. And I'll choose this one! Queen's Knight in attack mode!" A woman wearing red armour equipped with a sword and shield appeared after he slammed the card down.

Queen's Knight – (LV4) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (1500/1600)

"Woah! That's a cool effect man! Maybe I should also add that card to my deck?" Jaden asked curiously.

"Maybe, but it might ruin the theme you got." Evan said with a smile, making Jaden grin.

"You're right! Hahaha." Jaden simply laughed while scratching the back of his head, making Syrus sigh.

"Next, I'll play the spell card Double Summon which allows me to get another normal summon. With that, I summon King's Knight in attack mode." Evan said before a large man with blonde hair and orange coloured armour appeared, also equipped with a sword and shield.

King's Knight – (LV4) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (1600/1400)

"King's Knight, when summoned when Queen's Knight is on the field, has another interesting effect. This one allows me to call on the other one of the trio of knights, Jack's Knight from anywhere within my deck!" A man with blonde hair and blue armour appeared in-between King's Knight and Queen's Knight.

Jack's Knight – (LV5) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (1900/1000)

"Now that the Three Musketeers of Face Cards are on my field, I would be able to do more, but I don't have the necessary cards right now. What I can do is equip my Jack's Knight with the spell card Axe of Despair. This increases my Jack's Knight's attack by one thousand!"

Jack's Knight – (LV5) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (2900/1000)

"Now, Jack's Knight, attack Flame Wingman!" He pointed at the green monster before the knight clad in blue quickly appeared before the HERO monster and slashed it efficiently, reducing it to particles and making gusts of wind appear around Jaden as he took damage.

EVAN – 4000
JADEN – 3200

"Wow man, you're pretty good!" Jaden complimented, which made Evan smile.

"Hm… Even when outplayed, you compliment me… Thank you Jaden. There might still be hope for this academy if there are more like you." He said that last bit quietly to himself before placing one card into his duel disk. "I set one card facedown and end my turn. Your move Jaden."

"What did he mean by that...?" Syrus asked to himself as he listened in on their duel.

"Woah, this is a pretty intense duel." A voice said from behind Syrus. A very female voice. A very real female voice.

Syrus' head turned around unnaturally slow as he gazed upon a girl with long pink coloured hair. His face gained a shocked look as he pointed at her. "Y-Y-You're E-Euliya-s-san! W-Why are you here?!" He questioned with a blush on his face as he gazed upon the very real and very pretty girl in front of him.

"Hm? Oh, Syrus, right? Who do you think told Evan-san that Jaden had duelled against Alexis? He told me he wanted to duel Jaden, so I thought this the perfect opportunity, but I didn't expect for him to show up here…" She explained with a sweat drop. "Anyway, what were you talking to yourself about?"

He gained another heavier blush on his face. "O-Oh! Nothing really… Evan just said earlier that he doesn't have the necessary cards to do more with his three knights, but I don't really know what he means… Do you?"

She gained a curious expression on her face. "Hm… Maybe. It could be Polymerization."

Syrus looked confused. "What do you mean? Those three cards can't fuse, can they?" He questioned, weirded out by the fact that he didn't know anything.

"They can… But no-one has ever been able to secure the fusion card for it. The only other person I've heard that has it being Yugi Moto himself." She explained, making him shocked once again.

"R-Really?! Do you think he has it?"

"Maybe. Who knows?"

"True. I guess we'll have to find out."

"I draw!"

JADEN – 2 CARDS

'I can't really do much right now except bring Wingman back just to get destroyed again, but my life-points will take a big hit if I don't do anything. I need to do something…'

"I summon Elemental HERO Sparkman in attack mode!" He slams a card down onto his disk, making a man clad in yellow and blue while giving sparks of lightning.

Elemental HERO Sparkman – (LV4) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (1600/1400)

"And since I don't really know what you're planning with those three, I'll have my Sparkman attack your Queen's Knight!" He said as he pointed at the knight which made the HERO push his hand out, sending a lightning bolt at the knight, who didn't look concerned at all.

Jaden was shocked though when Marauding Captain suddenly leapt out in front of Queen's Knight and took the hit instead, causing Evan's life-points to drop even more than it would have.

EVAN – 3600
JADEN – 3200

"Woah, why'd he jump out in front of her like that?" Jaden asked curiously to Evan, who smiled.

"I didn't fully explain his effect, did I? Sorry." He shrugged his shoulders, making Jaden confused. "If Marauding Captain is on the field with another Warrior monster, then my opponent can't target anyone else for attacks except him. I figured that was what you might do, which is why I attacked your Wingman first." Evan explained, making Jaden and Syrus shocked.

"Woah, talk about a loyal knight, man…" Jaden said with a sweat drop as he put a card face down onto the field.

"You have no idea…" Evan said mysteriously as he drew a card, knowing that Jaden's turn was finished.

EVAN – 2 CARD

He looked at the card for a few moments before smiling. "Look at my luck today. I play the card I just drew, Pot of Greed once more!" He drew two new cards and smiled when he saw them. "I play the spell card Foolish Burial which allows me to send any card I like into my graveyard for no cost."

"But why though?"

Evan ignored him and found the card he was looking for and grinned. He put the card into his graveyard before shuffling his deck and returning it. He looked at the cards in his hand once more before looking at Jaden with a smile.

"Jaden. How long have you been playing this game?"

This confused everyone, except Euliya, who's seen this before.

"I don't know, since I was a kid? Why ask?"

"Cause I'm going to show you some cards that you've probably never seen before in your life." This confused everyone, even Euliya. "The next card I play is another Foolish Burial of mine!" This time, the card that was face down on Evan's side flipped up and showed the spell, which shocked Euliya but confused Jaden. "And now I've met the requirements. Those two uses of Foolish Burial were for this one monster! By banishing the Cyber Jar and another copy of Jack's Knight I have in my graveyard, I can special summon from my hand my newly acquainted Chaos Sorcerer!" He slammed the card down before a gust of wind appeared on the field.

A portal made of darkness and light showed up on the field and opened, revealing a grey-skinned man in a black outfit with gold linings. He had his hands behind his back and held a calm smile on his face. The sorcerer looked at Evan briefly before telepathically talking to him.

"It's been quite a while since I've awoken. Thank you, human, for letting me walk around on this earth once again." He said with a grateful voice.

Evan nodded with a smile that was unseen by everybody. 'It's no problem at all. That is my duty after all.'

"W-What is that card?!" Syrus yelled out as he fell backwards from shock.

Euliya stood there with a grim look on her face. "That's the card Evan got just earlier from the card shop; and I think we're about to see why it's so rare."

..

"What does it do?" Jaden asked with an unnaturally serious tone in his voice, getting an uneasy feeling from just looking at the sorcerer.

"You're about to find out! But before that, I must show you another card that you've probably never seen before! I use the spell card Polymerization! With this spell card I can fuse my Three Musketeers of Face cards together and bring forth one of the ace monsters from my deck!"

"There it is! I never thought he'd have that card in his deck!" Euliya exclaimed in shock, which confused Syrus.

"Just what is this card, Euliya-san?" Syrus questioned, nervous, while Euliya also gained a nervous look on her face.

"One of Yugi Moto's strongest cards beside the three Egyptian God cards, his strongest fusion. The name of the card is—"

"Come forth and answer your king's call! Arcana Knight Joker!" The three monsters on the field jumped into the sky and turned into balls of light before merging into a large ball that suddenly descended towards the ground. What came out of the light was a man a bit taller than Evan with multi-coloured clothes with large, armoured shoulder pads. He held a large great sword half the size of him with a shield almost as large. He had long black hair with purple highlights.

Arcana Knight Joker – (LV9) – WARRIOR – LIGHT – (3800/2500)

"I'm glad to be back in battle once again, My King. It is good to see you again, Sorcerer of Chaos Kingdom." Joker greeted the Chaos Sorcerer, who smiled.

"It is good to see you too, old friend."

Evan smiled at the two before turning his gaze to Jaden, who was covering his eyes from the gusts of wind that appeared from Joker's arrival. "Before I end this duel, Jaden, I need to prepare the stage. I first use Chaos Sorcerer's effect! Once per turn, I can target one of your monsters and banish it with the cost of his inability to attack the same turn, and I choose your Elemental HERO Sparkman!"

Chaos Sorcerer lifted both hands towards the man covered in lightning and from one hand, a cloud of darkness appeared. From the other, a flash of light. Both were shot towards Sparkman, which was instantly disintegrated upon coming into contact.

"Sparkman!" Jaden yelled out, seeing his monster destroyed so easily. He looked towards the other side of the field without fear, which surprised Evan.

"Now for one of the final acts! Arcana Knight Joker, destroy Clayman!" Joker nodded and jumped into the air, disappearing and reappearing in front of the man of clay, and swung his sword down before anybody could react. The monster was about be cut in half, but suddenly stopped, which confused Evan.

"Not so fast! I activate my trap card Mirror Gate!" The card face-down on his field revealed itself. "This card allows me to switch monsters we control when you attack an Elemental HERO monster, so now that Joker is mine!" Jaden exclaimed, making Evan gain an irk mark on his forehead as he watched mirrors appear before the two monsters before they suddenly switched sides.

Arcana Knight Joker then swiftly cut Clayman in half, sending the monster back to Jaden's graveyard, before he settled in front of Jaden. Joker looked at Evan sympathetically.

"I'm sorry, My King. I have no choice."

'It's alright, Joker. I know.'

"Fine, if you want it that way. I'll end my turn, so I have nothing to do now." Evan said as he sighed, letting Jaden draw his card, Joker standing in front of him menacingly.

JADEN – 2 CARDS

'I still have nothing else to do… Bringing Wingman back might be the best play I can do right now. Although it's good to see you again, buddy!' Jaden thought with glee as he saw the Winged Kuriboh in his hand wink at him.

"First, I'll play the spell card, Monster Reborn to bring back my Elemental HERO Flame Wingman!" Wingman floated onto the field through a portal that had appeared in the ground.

Even in front of the two monsters, Evan showed no fear. He knew that there was nothing that he could do right now, since he had no countermeasures for the attack that Jaden would eventually bring.

"Now, I think you know what I'll be doing, Evan! Arcana Knight Joker attack Evan's Chaos Sorcerer!" The knight quickly appeared in front of the sorcerer, looking apologetic, not noticing the look of content on the mage's face. He slashed him in half, making a gust of wind appearing around Evan, who held a sweat-drop on his face.

'This is the first loss I've had in years… I never would've thought I'd lose to a first year at this academy. Although, I can tell that the card he has in his hand is a duel spirit, but which one?'

EVAN – 2100
JADEN – 3200

"Now, I'll attack you with Elemental HERO Flame Wingman directly! Skydive Scorcher!" The HERO monster jumped high into the air, staying for a few moments before he started to descend, spinning rapidly, making fire appear around him. "And that's game!"

The monster finally descended onto Evan, kicking up a crater of dust around the boy.

EVAN – 0000
JADEN – 3200

JADEN – WINNER

When the dust finally settled, Evan was kneeling on one leg and was looking down with his eyes shadowed by his hair. The holograms of the monsters faded away, leaving an empty field with the two boys.

Evan stood up to his full height, and started to walk towards Jaden, who started to look nervous. His nerves faded as Evan walked in front of him and stretched his arm out with a smile on his face.

"That was my first loss in years, Jaden. Congratulations, Jaden Yuki. You are good enough to go into the pro league after that." Jaden reached his arm out and shook Evan's enthusiastically with a smile on his face.

"Thanks man! That was a great duel! Wait what do you mean by that?" Jaden asked curiously before Evan bent down towards him and spoke in a whisper.

"I've duelled in the Pro League before, and I haven't met anyone as good as you are before." Evan explained, making Jaden shocked before Evan pulled his arm back and spoke normally once again. "I'm sure you'll only get better with time, but just so you know… That wasn't the deck I normally use, but still… Congratulations." Evan pocketed his deck, showing to Jaden he had another card pack on his belt, which meant he was telling the truth.

"Thanks man! Hey, let's duel again sometime, yeah? I wanna see what that other deck of yours is like!" Jaden grinned as Evan started to walk away. He waved behind his shoulder as he walked up to Syrus and Euliya, giving Syrus a smile.

"Learn from your friend, kid. You might learn something if you stay with him long enough. Just pay attention to him closely for me." Evan said to the bespectacled kid before walking away, with Euliya giving a quick bow towards him before catching up with the tall boy.

"Man, that was a sick duel, huh Sy? Shame that he wasn't going all out though…" Jaden looked disheartened, which confused Syrus.

"Wait, what do you mean by that?"

"He said that wasn't the deck he normally uses, so that means he's got a whole other deck that might be stronger than that one."

"Woah."

"Yeah."

"Why didn't you go all out for Yuki-san, Evan-san?" Euliya asked curiously as they made their way towards the Obelisk girl's dorm.

Evan stayed silent for a few moments. "You don't use a cannon to get rid of what you thought was an ant, Euliya. I wouldn't have ever thought that he might be able to use those HERO cards that well, but that's all I needed to see…" He explained, as Euliya fell behind slightly, a confused look on her face, before he caught up to him.

"So, is your excitement sated now, Evan-san?" Euliya asked curiously as she stared at Evan's face in curiosity.

"…No, not yet. There's still more I must see from him. But it does look like this will be an exciting year, won't it?" He stayed silent for the rest of their journey, which didn't bother Euliya in the slightest, although she didn't know that he was talking with his spirits from within his head.

"It was good to finally be on the battlefield once again. But I'm sorry that I failed to serve you adequately, Young Master." Chaos Sorcerer said in an apologetic tone, which Evan waved off in his mind.

'It's fine, Sorcerer. To be honest, that was more a test for the boy than anything else, and you performed adequately. It was my fault that I misplayed, anyway.'

"How did you misplay, My Lord? From my perspective, you played perfectly well with your recourses that you had at the time." Joker asked in curiosity.

'I just didn't plan for the force that was Jaden Yuki.'

'This really is going to be a fun year, huh?'

A hand swirled a glass filled with wine around in his hand as he looked at his phone settled on the table. The phone showed a message saying that Duel Academy's Exams start soon, and it said that he was to be invited as a special guest for all the students.

Maximillion Pegasus smiled in content as he stared at the message before grabbing his phone and going to the home screen, showing a wallpaper that consisted of him and Evan Richards standing side-by-side smiling. He smiled fondly at the picture before going back to his messages and replying to the man.

'I will see you soon, Evan-boy. I wish to see just how much you've improved without me by your side.' He thought before taking a sip of his wine. Staring out into the starry night sky that seemed endless.

Endless, he thought, just like that boy's potential.

A/N: To be honest, I haven't had motivation to write anything for almost two years, which is too long but after releasing this ff and seeing the reviews I realised that people actually read my stories, which I was grateful for. So I'm going to try and update as much as I can. I can't guarantee that it'd be weekly like I want it to but I'll try.

Thank you for reading.
