Chapter 6

The Death of Caleb.

Evelyn heard Caleb cough and felt. Flapjack land on her shoulder.

"Flapjack I thought I asked. You to protect Caleb." scolded Evelyn

The cardinal chirped and Evelyn felt. Something drip onto her shoulder. She looked at Flapjack and saw that he's bleeding. Worried Evelyn asked "Flapjack what happened to you? And what happened here?" Flapjack chirped telling what had happened. Angry Evelyn took off running. Soon she could see Philip and drew a magic circle. Then she yelled "Philip Wittebane I curse you! I curse to know nothing but! Pain and misery until your dieing day!" Then she stopped and ran back to Caleb. She knelt down next to him and. There is a lot of blood. And Caleb's breathing is shallow and jagged. Flapjack chirped and Evelyn said "I can't just leave him here."

Caleb can hear Evelyn and can feel the hot fire around him. So he summoned enough strength to talk to Evelyn.

"Listen to.. Flapjack...My Love.. Get out..of here...before you... become trapped.. by the...fire..I want... you and...our baby...to live.. I..I...Love..you..Evelyn." coaxed Caleb

With tears in her eyes Evelyn said "I love you too Caleb." She watched as Caleb took two last breaths. Then he stopped breathing. Evelyn stood and ran toward her parent's house and pounded on the door. Inside Lillian is first to wake up. She heard the pounding and woke Luke. Lillian got out of bed, ran to the door, and opened it. She and Luke see Evelyn. Evenly is in tears and has blood on her dress. They can see blood dripping from Flapjack.

"Evelyn what's wrong where is Caleb?" asked Lillian

"Philip found us Caleb had me run. Then I saw a fire so I ran back. Philip hurt Caleb and Flapjack and there is a fire. Caleb is dead Mamma Caleb's dead." cried Evelyn

Just then Evelyn grabbed her pregnant belly and groan. Lillian wrapped her arms around Evelyn. Then she said "Calm down dear calm down. It's not good for you or the baby." As Lillian lead Evelyn into the house. She said "Luke go see if you can put out the fire. Please find Caleb's body and bring it to the house." Luke nodded and left the house. Lillian took Evelyn to her old bedroom. She helped her changed into some night clothes. Then she and Evelyn got conformable on the bed. With one hand Lillian stroked Evelyn's head. Trying to help her calm down. And with her other hand she. Used her magic to heal Flapjack's wound.

Two hours later Evelyn had finally calmed down. And she had fallen asleep. Lillian and Flapjack have stayed with Evelyn. And they are starting to fall asleep. Just then Lillian heard someone come into the room. She looked and saw that it's Luke.

"Did you put out the fire? And did you find Caleb's body?" asked Lillian

"Yes the fire is out and looks like. Evelyn's house is a total loss. And I found Caleb's body and I put it in the storage shed." replied Luke

"Evelyn can stay with us. And we'll lay Caleb to rest tomorrow." assured Lillian

Luke nodded and said "Agreed I'm going back to bed." I was't until well after the sun rose the next day. When Luke woke up and got up. He got dressed and went to the kitchen. Luke made enough breakfast for everyone. After eating he went outside to build a coffin. Not long after Luke went outside Lillian, Evelyn, and Flapjack woke up. Evelyn and Lillian got and got dressed. Then they went into the kitchen. Once in the kitchen they saw. That Luke had left them breakfast. Lillian put a plate in front of Evelyn. Then she sat down and started eating. So far all Evelyn is doing is staring at her plate. Lillian noticed and said "You need to eat." Evelyn nodded and started picking at her plate.

Outside Luke is almost done with the coffin. When he heard a male voice say "Hello Father I got your note. Is Caleb really dead?" Luke nodded and replied "Yes son he's dead. And your sister is bedside herself." Lillian and Luke have two children. The oldest being Issac who had red hair and blue eyes. He has a female blue jay palisman named Waffles. Issac is three years older than Evelyn. And of course there is Luke and Lillian's youngest Evelyn. Evelyn has auburn hair, green eyes, and her plaisman is Flapjack. Issac saw that Luke is working on a coffin. He grabbed come wood and a hammer. And helped his father finish.

After they finished the coffin. Luke and Issac picked up. Caleb's body and put it in the coffin. Then they nailed the lid to the coffin. Issac went into the to house to wash up. After washing up he went looking for his sister. He found Evelyn and his mother in the kitchen. Issac went up to Evelyn and said "I got a note from Father. I am so sorry for you loss." Evelyn happy to see her brother. She stood and wrapped her arms around him. He returned the hug and hugged her tight. Issac kissed his sister's forehead and said "If i ever see Philip again. I will kill him." Evelyn shook her head and replied "No leave him alone. I cursed him and. I want him to live with that curse Until the day he dies."

Issac didn't want to argue so he. Didn't say anything more. An hour later Luke and Issac carried. The coffin to the Clawthorne family cemetery. They dug a hole for the coffin. Then using their magic they lowered the coffin into the hole. Issac and Luke then filled the hole with dirt. Then Evelyn, Lillian, Luke, and Issac paid their respects. After paying their respects. Luke said "Don't worry Evelyn Issac and I will make a headstone for Caleb's grave." Evelyn nodded and said "Thank you Father." Then she looked at Flapjack who is on her shoulder.

"I'm so sorry that I scolded you Flapjack. From what you told me. You did try to protect Caleb. And you got hurt in the process." sighed Evelyn sadly

Then they all went home. Issac stayed a couple of days. And helped Luke make a headstone. When they finished they placed it at the head of Caleb's grave. After that was done Issac said his goodbyes and went home.
