Ch 15
The next mission was to attack a train carrying Zola.
"We only got about a 10-second window." Cap warned. "You miss that window, we're bugs on a windshield."
"Better get moving, bugs!" Dugan said. The soldiers chuckled at that, then took a zip-line down onto the train. A Hydra trooper with two large cannons came in and fired but Cap blocked the blue energy beams with her shield.
Bucky shot down the Hydra trooper he was fighting but two more entered. Cap blocked another pair of beams from the trooper she was fighting and knocked him out with a shield-throw.
Bucky shot down one of the two troopers but had to take cover since the other one fired. Bucky tried to shoot back but his gun jammed and Steve ran in, tossing Bucky his pistol. Bucky grabbed it and shot down the trooper.
"I had him on the ropes." Bucky said.
"I know." Cap replied.
Another trooper fired and Cap protected both of them with her shield but a hole was blown in the side of the train. Then the trooper fired again and Bucky was blasted out but grabbed onto the side. Cap ducked another shot, then knocked out the trooper with a shield-throw and ran over to Bucky.
"Grab my hand!" Cap said, reaching desperately. Bucky was barely holding onto the side and his hand started slipping.
Finally, Bucky reached out but then the bar broke and Bucky plummeted to the snowy ground.
"NO!" Stephanie screamed. The sudden shock hit her like a bullet and she knelt down. She tried to close her eyes and she wished she could wake up from this horrible nightmare.
She still couldn't believe it.
Her best friend was gone. And there was nothing she could do about it.
