How are you all doing?! Good, I hope! So, here's the next chapter of this story! A bit short, but I hope you all enjoy it! Still haven't thought of a good name for the team that Naruto is forming, but I love the idea of Naruto just throwing random names out there and Annie just shooting them all down lol. Just to make things interesting between the two!
Anyways, enjoy!
"Well, what have we here now?" Naruto muttered as he crouched down on top of the roof of an old derelict building by the docks. Tracking the two men who had taken Translucent had led the Shadow Clone to what seemed like a rundown dock complex. And that leads him to see a French man pointing a gun at the bearded man, what was his name?
"Ah, Butcher was it?" The Shadow Clone questioned itself before the two men calmed the French man down before the trio took off. Discreetly, the Shadow Clone followed the trio, unnoticed by all as it jumped from roof-top to roof-top. He had his orders from the original and he'd follow them to the letter.
With the Original:
Naruto frowned as he listened to Deep's report about the mayor of Baltimore's jet crashing into the river and he didn't trust one word coming out of that fish-man's mouth.
"He's lying," Naruto commented as Annie looked at him with a raised eyebrow. The two were currently in his apartment, much to Annie's disappointment. She thought that she'd be out there, saving lives every day with the Fox, but it seemed like Fox had deemed other matters to be more important.
"Does that surprise you? The bastard tried to have me…never mind." She almost gagged at the thought of that sicko and his request. As the old saying goes, never meet your heroes, because they will always disappoint you.
"Baltimore's major jet goes down. And yet no mayday calls went out, the Black Box was nowhere to be found, and engine failure? Please. As if aircraft aren't built to be flown on one engine in cases of emergency." Naruto spoke, his eyes narrowed as he listed off the inconsistencies with the report that Deep was providing.
"Wow, I never thought you'd know so much about aviation and the likes." She spoke but Naruto kept his serious face.
"Think about it, you really think that the mayor's jet wouldn't be checked thoroughly before take-off? Impossible. Not to mention that aircraft accidents are very rare these days. Most of the ones that have happened are mostly due to human error or being shot down by anti-air in unfortunate accidents or deliberate acts." Naruto explained further. Shadow Clones were a powerful ability that he knew full well how to exploit. There were few people in his world who could utilize it to such an extent that he could.
"You think there was foul play?" Annie questioned as Naruto nodded. The mayor had met with Vought a few hours earlier, and his plane goes down as he's heading back from the said meeting. Not to mention that Vought was all over this.
"Naturally. I'll have a Shadow Clone inspect the plane's wreckage myself." Naruto responded before he blinked and grinned slightly. Ah, the Shadow Clone he had sent to tail those two had finally dispelled. He stood up unexpectedly, taking Annie by surprise. He turned to look at her with a grin that caused her to sigh.
"Is this going to be one of your 'fun patrols'?" She questioned him as Naruto chucked and did a hand sign and instantly his gear martialized all around him.
"Better keep up." He stated as he leaped out of the window much to Annie's annoyance. She was glad that she was already wearing her outfit.
"But that's still badass." She muttered to herself. Naruto had many abilities, and being able to materialize your gear out of thin air? It was so practical! Maybe she could get him to teach her that?
With Butcher, Hughie, and Frenchie:
Translucent stayed quiet as he heard the trio of men trying to figure out how to kill him, rather, two of them while the other one was trying to be the voice of reason or rather hyperventilating at the turn of events.
"Fuck, Fuck, Fuck…" Translucent kept thinking to himself as he gulped at the turn of events. The trio were the least of his concern when now he was on Fox's radar. Translucent was a prideful man. He feared little because he considered himself invincible, unkillable even! But he feared one thing; Homelander.
Homelander was a sadistic man, despite his demeanor, the man enjoyed inflicting pain and putting people in their place, and if Homelander wanted to, he could easily beat him down with little effort. But now that someone more powerful than Homelander, someone who could actually hurt Homelander, with such casual ease no less, had him on his radar? He grew fearful.
"I-I…I gotta get out of here!" He shouted to himself mentally. He feared one thing, and that was death. So sure of his invincibility, he thought himself to be unkillable by all but Homelander.
"Well, hello there." He jumped slightly as his eyes widened in fear as he saw the very source of fear. Looking to his right he saw Fox, squatting outside the electric cage he was locked in his usual getup.
"W-What do you want!" He shouted in fear as the Fox's mask looked back at him as he stood up and began to slowly walk around the cage.
"What do I want? Well, I suppose I want to have a little chat with you before those fine gentlemen outside this room…dispose of you." Naruto spoke rather coldly. He didn't trust Vought; he trusted their heroes even less.
"W-What do you want to know?" Translucent questioned him as Naruto stopped in front of the cage and looked down at the man.
"I know you Vought heroes are knee-deep in some kind of shit. So, tell me, the girl that A-Train killed a while back, the one he ran right through. What was he doing that day?" Naruto questioned him, his voice devoid of emotions as Translucent cowered under the gaze.
"L-Listen, I-I don't know anything, ok!" Translucent stated but Naruto didn't buy it. Translucent all of a sudden felt a wave of oppression around him, his heart rate began to increase as sweat began to form around his forehead.
"What…WHAT IS THIS!?" Translucent shouted as Naruto crouched one more and got to eye level.
"One more chance; what do you know?" Naruto questioned. A-Train and Translucent were good buddies, and no way would he not know anything. The story about that girl getting killed was tragic, but the excuse A-Train gave was a blunt lie. No robberies were happening at the time, and the CCTV footage he managed to recover showed A-Train to be more panicked than anything. And Vought as always was quick to cover it up, rather too quickly.
"L-Listen all I know is that he was heading to Popclaw! Alright?! That's all I know! I swear!" Translucent started as Naruto hummed at that. He knew Popclaw, a minor Vought Hero, a D-Lister really. But he didn't know that she and A-Train were in a relationship. If that were the case, then she would know significantly more than Translucent. After all, people talk, and they talk a lot to their significant others.
"P-Please, don't kill me!" Translucent shouted in fear as Naruto raised an eyebrow. He didn't get a chance to say anything before the door burst open.
"Oi! Get out of here you bright light cu –" Butcher was stopped from swearing as a Kunai flew past him and impaled itself in the wall behind him. Hughie and Frenchie gulped as they saw Fox, while Annie huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest, slightly pissed at Fox.
"I'd rather you not swear at my friend," Naruto warned him as Annie slightly blushed at him calling her a friend.
"W-Wait! What the hell Butcher! What the hell is the Renarde (Fox in French) doing here!" Frenchie shouted in slight anger as the job was becoming more and more complicated. First Translucent now Starlight and the Fox?!
"How the fuck should I know? He buggered off after we bagged Translucent." Butcher huffed at the Frenchmen. Between the two, Hughie was the only one who seemed to remain calm surprisingly.
"So, did you get what you wanted?" Annie questioned Naruto, who nodded before he turned to look at Translucent.
"As for killing you, why shouldn't I? You're a sexual deviant. How many innocent people have you killed? How many women have you had your way with against their will?" The Fox questioned as Translucent eyes widened. How did he know that?!
"The invisible shit is a sicko. Loves to fuck around women who don't like him." Butcher added as Annie looked at Translucent in disgust. Frenchie didn't such any surprise, after all, he had expected as much from a Supe. However, Hughie seemed the most shocked by such revelations. His perception of Vought had severely been diminished.
"I…I have a kid! Please don't kill me!" Translucent begged as Naruto sighed at that. That was true, the man did have a kid, but Translucent crimes were far too great for any sort of redemption. The man had many chances to turn a new leaf. And turning him over to the law would do no good, Vought would have him out by the hour, and he'd be back to his usual business.
"I have known many people throughout my life that I have given second chances to, but you know the difference between them and you? They were the victims of their circumstances. The environment they grew up in. The world around them made them who they were. They were never shown a different life and each of them held regret and remorse in the end." Naruto began as everyone listened to him. Very little was known of Fox and his past, even Annie knew little.
"But you? You had everything. You lacked nothing in your life that could have made you a stable man, instead, you became this." He gestured at him as Translucent flinched as if he was being handed down judgment, well, he was.
For Naruto's part, he had learned from his past experiences and realized that some people were beyond saving. People like Translucent were given the best hand life could give and they squandered it.
"Are you really going to…kill him?" Annie questioned him with a frown on her face. Translucent was an utter asshole and scum, but she had never taken a life. She had always believed in the rule of law and saw it as her duty to bring in the criminals to the law.
"Annie, what you need to understand is that some people are beyond saving. No matter how many chances you give them, they will always revert back to their nature." Naruto advised as he pointed towards Translucent.
"And he is incapable of changing. He isn't your average criminal. He's a Supe who has the backing of one of the most powerful and wealthy companies in the world. Put him in jail and he'll be out for dinner." He finished as Annie sighed but silently agreed. She didn't like it but understood his reasoning.
"Wait just a minute here. Why don't you and your little blond girlfriend piss off. Translucent our deal with." Butcher intervened much to Annie's embarrassment at how Butcher referred to her as Naruto's girlfriend.
"Please, can you even kill him?" Naruto questioned him as Butcher grumbled.
"We'll figure it out, not like we haven't killed Supes before," Butcher argued as Naruto scoffed.
"I can kill him with a flick of my wrist. Can you do that?" Naruto questioned. Translucent began to lose hope at that. It seems either way he'd be a dead man by the day's end.
"No disrespect Mr. Fox, but Butcher is right. We have killed Supes before. I'm sure we can figure out a way to kill him. And besides, I think Hughi here has some questions for the pervers (pervert)." Frenchie stated while Hughi nodded. He needed to know why A-Train killed his girlfriend. And Translucent is the only one that might know. Naruto looked at the two. He already knew the answer to their questions but opted to say nothing, as his ears slightly perked up.
"Well, he's all yours in that case," Naruto said as he turned to look at Translucent and the man visibly flinched.
"I personally would have made your death as painless as possible. But they will not because they will need to find a way to kill you and who knows what they will try." Naruto stated as he turned and began to leave with Starlight giving the trio a glance before throwing a glare at Translucent before she turned and followed Naruto. Catching up to him, she slowed her pace to be just slightly behind him to his right.
"We're just going to let them have him?" She questioned him as Naruto nodded as they exited the rundown restaurant.
"Yes. Translucent is but a small finish in the sea of the cease pool that is Vought. Besides, Homelander is looking for him." Naruto answered as she tensed and began to look around, already on alert.
"Don't worry, he won't find him. He's currently in upper Manhattan." Naruto eased her worries as she looked at him in surprise.
"You can hear him from that far away?" She questioned him causing him to shrug.
"Homelander has an ego. He thinks that nothing in this world can challenge him and his attitude and the way he carries himself reflect that ego. His flying is unrestricted. He's always breaking the sound barrier as if to feed his own ego." Naruto explained as she blinked at him. He was proving to be more insightful by the day.
"You're a lot smarter than you let on, you know that?" She pointed out as Naruto glanced back at her. Her eyebrow twitched slightly. She couldn't see it, and she couldn't prove it, but somehow she got the feeling that he was giving her his patented grin.
"Ahhh! I knew you liked me, Annie-Chan!" He sang out with a chuckle as she sighed.
"And you are back to being an idiot." She said with a flat face as Naruto clutched his heart and fell to his knees.
"Urgh! You wound me, Annie-Chan!" He cried out in faked pain as she shook her head before she brought her hands up and stared at them. Now that he had brought up flight in their conversation, she was brought back to her own possibilities and what he had told her. Unknowingly, she began to absorb the electricity around her, causing some of the electrical poles to spark.
"Annie?" Naruto questioned with a tilted head as he watched her concentrate as she looked up at him and brought her hand down, concentrating all her power into the palms of her hands.
"Uh, Annie, you might not wanna –" Naruto was cut off as she unleashed her power downwards from her hands, blasting her off into the sky. Naruto followed the blond going up and up and up.
"Well, that's one way to fly." He muttered as he saw her. For Annie however, the speed she had just blasted off was unreal, nothing like she had experienced before! But, it wasn't properly controlled, but she saw the world down below begin to grow smaller and smaller as she marveled at what she just managed to do.
"I…I…I can fly!" She shouted in excitement. How had she not thought of this before?! Brimming with excitement, she began attempting to gather more electricity to stabilize her flight and gain some form of control. But she found herself too far up high to be able to pull in any electricity.
"Oh crap." She muttered to herself as she peaked and began to feel the effect of gravity take hold of her as she began to descend. At first, it was slow, but her speed began to pick up and she began to panic.
"Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap!" She shouted as she tried to do something, anything! She wanted to fly, not fall! As she watched the world grow closer and closer, she closed her eyes. She knew that she was durable, but she didn't know if she could survive a fall like this! As she waited for the impending contact with the ground, she closed her eyes, not wanting to look at it any longer. Hopefully, her bones wouldn't be so broken. As the wind rushed past her, she waited to feel the harsh concrete to greet her body.
"You know, I think that idea was to fly, not to jump really high." She heard Naruto's voice as she slowly opened her eyes and blinked. A pair of strong arms was holding her securely as she looked up at Naruto's mask.
"Uh…I…what…huh?" She tried to speak but couldn't form words as she looked away from him and down and saw that he was floating in midair as he held her.
"You know, you should really try to walk before running. You're focusing on the wrong thing. Rather than trying to fly by pulling electricity via major sources, try to learn how to pull it from the atmosphere itself." He advised her as she dumbly nodded.
"B-but how?" She questioned him as he chuckled lightly as he slowly began to descend, landing atop a building as he gently let her down.
"That, my dear, is for you to figure out. When you learn how to do that, only then do you truly become powerful." Naruto stated as she sucked in a deep breath and took in his proclamation. If she could do that…then…her powers wouldn't be restricted to electrical sources. She was broken out of her thoughts as her phone began to ring. Pulling it out she looked at the caller ID and sighed.
"Someone important?" Naruto questioned her as she nodded slightly.
"My mother." She responded.
"Oh." Was Naruto's intelligent response. Truth be told, he hadn't even considered her family up until now and he was sure that her mother would not be pleased by the fact that she had not joined the Seven and instead became a vigilante.
"So, how about we call ourselves the Super Amazing Blond Dou?" Naruto questioned her as she sweat dropped. She was about to take her mother's call and he was throwing ideas for their team. What kind of dumb name was that?!
"Where the hell did he gain his trait for bad names?" She mentally thought to herself.
Meanwhile, a much older blond in the pure lands sneezed.
"Oh, someone must be thinking about you!" A redhead questioned him as he chuckled at that.
"Well, I am the fourth Hokage who made the legendary Nimbus Jiraiya Twin Whorl Sphere!" He bragged as the redhead sweat dropped. She hoped that their son didn't inherit her husband's bad name ideas.
And that's it for now! So, Annie tried to fly…which was just a glorified attempt at a massive jump lol. Now, next chapter Annie will have to face her mother and the choice she has made. Translucent is pretty much dead man.
Now Naruto's character is a bit less forgiving compared to his canon counterpart. My logic is why wouldn't he be? He is a Shinobi. And while he has fought people that he has forgiven, he also knows that some people are beyond saving. Translucent is a perfect example of this fact because, unlike the many people that Naruto has faced, Translucent never had to suffer, had everything in life, and still chose to be who he chose to be.
And let's be honest, no way will Naruto ever give someone like Translucent a second chance knowing what the man does and has done. Well, anyways, see you all next time!
