Urie wandered aimlessly through the deserted alleys of the first ward. Involuntary shivers ripped through him as he clutched at his thin dress shirt. Cursing profusely in his head at his own stupidity. After walking for the best part of an hour he felt himself start to calm.

This whole situation was a shit show and he could not believe that he was stuck in the middle. First revelation that their previous mentor was born a completely normal human being that was twisted against his will into a monster. And then even worse Mutsuki was missing. And to conclude, there was nothing he could do. He was still weak and pathetic.

He felt hot tears prickle his eyes. He growled and scrubbed at them. Feeling his anger and self-loathing rise to greet him again. It was easier to be angry. Angry at Saiko, at Shirazu, at Sasaki, at CCG and at himself. He wanted to scream and rush into the headquarters and punch the reaper in his face. Wanted to scream that everything that happened was his fault. If it was not for him, they would've been trained properly and Shirazu would still be annoying. He felt weak. It was a daunting realization. He was weak and He knew nothing of the world he held so dear. He always knew there was some kind of corruption in the CCG. What major government entity wasn't. However, he excepted cruelty to ghouls (not that those monsters deserved any leniency).

He was naive, thinking that an organization would never go so far to actively use ghouls to hunt other ghouls. No not ghouls; they were using humans. The very people they swear to protect. Because no matter how much Urie loathed Sasaki he could not help but felt pity for him. He also knew that himself and the other Quinx were used in a similar fashion. The Quinx project was always presented as a volunteer project to help the CCG combat ghouls on a level playing field. At the start Urie truly thought this was the best way to get stronger. Now he is not so sure, feeling more like a lab rat then a human being. A memory flashes across his mind of Sasaki warning him of opening his frames. In the past he was pissed at Sasaki trying to hold him back. But now he isn't so sure, his frames made him stronger than before but he still was unable to protect Shirazu .

Urie knew more dreams were surly to come. A drop of rain landed on his nose bringing him out of his thoughts. He glanced up at the darkened sky as the rain came pelting down with vigor. So deep in his inner turmoil he forgot about the worsening weather. He groaned as he felt the rain drip underneath the collar of his white shirt. He clutched the shirt around himself and turned a corner to a less open path trying to find shelter from the rain. As he tuned, he caught a whiff of something in the air.

He stopped dead in his tracks. Berating himself for not being more aware of his surroundings. He began to cautiously walk forwards trying to seem nonchalant as he strained his other senses to gain information about a potential threat. He was quickly beginning to realize that he was not in the most optimum part of the first ward for a fight. The alleyway he was currently walking down was narrow. Too narrow to use a weapon comfortably. Although with his Quinque being nestled safely in the chateau it makes no difference. Apart from his kagune he was defenceless. He noted two exits at either end of the alley. The rooftops gave him a disadvantage. They were low and sloping with ledges at waist height. Giving a great view of the alley whilst also giving a potential assailant cover.

He picked up the pace and strained his ears. The subtle sound of rubber slapping on cement came above him. Without a second's hesitation he grabbed a broken wooden bar that was rotten away on the ground. Flinging it in the direction the sound had come from with cat like reflexes that his Quinx status gave him. A blur darted from its hiding place and jumped to the other building across the way. No doubt about it, he was being followed. He broke into a sprint, hoping that the exit will provide him more room to fight if needs be. Red crystal-like shards rained down in front of him like bullets. He jumped backwards out of the way, letting his eye start to bleed red and black. Ignoring the tearing pain from his shoulder as his kagune burst from his skin and wrapped around his arm. It is familiar weight doing little to slow his pulse roaring in his ears. A figure dropped from the roof top in front of him. It is pulsating red ukaku in the shape of a large wing caught his eye first.

The ghoul straightened up from its crouch but made no move to further attack. The two stared at each other.

"What do you want Rabbit?" Urie asked calmly seizing up the smaller ghoul in front of him, "Stupid to attack a member of the CCG in this ward."

Rabbit's eyes narrowed behind his mask but did not answer. The clouds rumbled above them, the rain plastering Urie's hair to his face. He took a moment to assess the situation. Rabbit was slightly shorter than himself with dark blue hair framing his signature Black Rabbit mask. From what he knew of this ghoul he was much faster than himself. Being a high-ranking member of the Aogiri tree; Black Rabbit is battle experienced with a SS ranking. In combat Urie knew he probably had the advantage with Ukaku types having lower stamina. If Urie could defend himself properly with his kagune shield and wear down Rabbit; He should be able to win this battle. Even with the size of the alley working against him. Idiot should have stayed on the roof if he is planning on killing him, Urie thought to himself. The silence stretched on, neither one moving. Urie was getting more on edge as time ticked on.

"Are you deaf?" He barked, his patience running thin "what do you want?" .

"I'm looking for that little shit with the eyepatch" Rabbit answered, a sneer present in his voice.

Urie felt his heart stutter. Does this ghoul know something about his missing comrade. Throwing all caution to the wind he ran to attack. Aiming to pin the ghoul using his kagune. Trying to use the element of surprise to get around Rabbit'a advantage of speed. If this ghoul has information on Mutsuki then he needed to take him down and get answers before it's too late. The Rabbit growled in annoyance and twisted out of reach of Urie's kagune. Landing a solid kick to Urie's shield forcing him to stagger backwards.

"Shitty dove, you're lucky I haven't already killed you." Rabbit barked down to him as the two exchanged blows. Urie using his Kagune to block what seemed to be half hearted shards of Rabbit's wing as Rabbit widened the distance between them. "Listen just tell the black reaper to meet me near Re: cafe tomorrow at midnight, if he shows up with anyone else, I'll fucking kill his entire team." With catlike agility, Rabbit jumped back to the rooftop and disappeared in a blink.

Urie made to follow in pursuit when his vision went blurry forcing him to stop. Visions of two children came in and out of focus as he staggered to the end of the alley. Forcing himself to ignore them he tried using his sense of smell to locate where Rabbit had escaped too knowing this was his only chance to catch him. The visions came over him again as he lost all sense of direction.

The children were a boy and a girl with blue hair. The girl chasing the boy with worms in her hands. The boy squealing in fear as the girl's laughter followed him.

"Touka stop!" The boy squealed "I'll tell dad!".

The girl stopped still laughing and threw the worms in the direction of the boy said "I thought you were supposed to be a man?" . She stuck her tongue out at him as he gave her a scowl.

Urie's vision came back to normal. Ringing noise continued in his ears as he tried to stay focused on finding Rabbit. But it was already too late. The rain impacting his already poor sense of smell made it impossible to give chase. He made his way home, rubbing his temples and trying to stamp down his returning anger. He did not know what to think about that altercation. Obviously, Rabbit was trying to get into contact with his previous mentor but why did he mention eyepatch? What does this have to do with Mutsuki? But why would an aogiri tree member want to get in touch with a dove. Maybe Sasaki knows a lot more about what happened to Mutsuki then he lets on Urie thought darkly to himself. He is still a ghoul after all no matter what the circumstances were for how he became one. Was he working with Aogiri tree? Had he been lying to them all this time? He gritted his teeth as he opened the front door of the chateau.

Not sparing a single glance in Saiko's direction as she lay peacefully sleeping on the couch. He could not deal with her now. Anger pulsed its way through his veins matching the thumping in his head. He knew if he tried to talk to Saiko at this moment he would explode. The kiss can wait. A potential traitor may be among them and Urie is going to get answers one way or another. He stormed into his bedroom and quickly got changed into dry clothes. Shimmying on his white CCG coat and grabbing his Quinque. He headed in the direction of headquarters. He took out his phone and texted someone he despised.

' We need to talk now'- 23:50

'Meet me at headquarters in 5 minutes'- 23:50

As he walked in through the front doors of headquarters, he ignored the surprised look on the security guards face. He felt the buzz of his phone in his pocket. He continued to his destination with murder on his mind. The visions he saw being quickly forgotten.
