Lonesome Street Chap 10a

New course?

IN THE LOFT

Lana and Clark sit on the couch. It has been a day neither of them could ever have anticipated.

"Wow!" Clark blows out a breath.

"You can say that again," Lana admits. "Where do we go from here? Does this change anything, babe?"

"I think it has to change some things," Clark proposes.

"What?" Lana is puzzled.

"Well for one thing, one of my 2 weaknesses is magic. I assume that you can protect me from magic if you are with me or close by."

"OK. We will have to work on that; I'm just a rookie you know. And your other weakness?"

"Kryptonite, the green meteor rocks. They make me sick, weaken me, and can kill me with long enough exposure. If someone exposes me, you can remove the rocks from around me."

"Green meteor rocks? Like my necklace? You never said anything!"

"I didn't figure it out until you gave it to Whitney to take when he was deployed. And then I could be close to you physically, and not be a spaz! What a relief that was."

"Wow, and for me too! I thought you were just acting up to get my attention, and it was a real turn off."

"Yeah, I can see how it would be. But we are past that now, way past." He gathered her into his arms and kissed her.

"Ah Clark, I'm thinking that this is changing my mind about living together. Let me explain, please?"

"Go ahead, I'll listen."

"After you explained your abilities and your origin – your secret – I realized how much you needed friends, close friends, to support you. Even though you are close to invulnerable, you need the same things we all do; a close companion for emotional support. A shoulder to lean on so to speak. And then it struck me . . . I want to be that person by your side, the one you can depend on for support. Emotional and otherwise." She pauses, giving him a chance to respond.

"Really?" This was everything he was hoping for!

"Yes, really." She drops her head, somewhat embarrassed.

He lifts her head with a finger under her chin, "Lana, I love you; I've loved you for a long time. Nothing would make me happier than to have you by my side, working together and supporting each other."

"So?" She tentatively asks.

"Are you ok with us finding an apartment to share, as we start this next school year?"

"Yes, as long as we are clear on our expectations for each other."

"Expectations? Oh, you mean SEX."

"Yes, farmer John," she smirks. "I don't mean to sound prudish, but I don't feel ready for that. But when I am ready, I want it to be with you. Can you respect that?" She is hopeful that she didn't ruin things, that she didn't read him wrong. She doesn't think that she did.

"I can absolutely respect that. You are totally worth waiting for!"

"Thank you, and I love you too!"

"So, what's next?" Clark asks.

"Well, I need to research magic, finding out the various ways to cast spells and such; finding ou what powers I have and how to use them. Will you help me with that?"

"Of course I will. Then we need to go apartment hunting."

"I like the sound of that!" Lana is excited.

"Is your dorm room still available this summer?"

"For what?"

"For us to stay in or a few nights, while we visit the Met U library & hunt for an apartment."

"Well, not really. But, can't we stay here and take the CK
express back and forth?"

"Yeah, I wasn't thinking there. You see how much I need you?" Clark freely admits.

"I do. Don't ever forget that, sweetheart!" She pulls him into a long and deep kiss.

"It's late, I better get you home, the CK express is still running! I will come get you in the morning for breakfast. I think we should tell my parents what we plan on doing."

"You sure?"

"Yes, keeping this a secret will cause major problems. We need to be up front and deal with the fallout right away. Just follow my lead."

"Ok, I trust you."

Clark super speeds her home.

They embrace and kiss goodnight.

"Good night Clark, my love."

"Good night Lana, my sweetheart."
