Meanwhile, at the living room at Haiku's house, the founding members of Ynovation-Polly Pain, Giggles, Tabby, and Haiku herself-sat down and watched TV together while trying to figure out what to do next.
"Hey, remember when we used to hang out with Lincoln and had adventures with him?" Polly Pain asked. "I miss those times; why don't we hang out with him again?"
"There are way too many moving pieces to just go back to hanging out like casual friends again," Haiku sighed. "Lincoln's daughter from the future, the Index System gaining new security measures, there's even news about a new Head of Termination being selected after the previous one was missing. And of course, there's that woman with Tabby saw when she tried to travel back in time by sleeping..."
Tabby briefly winced at being reminded of the woman she saw during her mental time travel, but she quickly regained her composure and turned back to the TV, just in time for a certain True Succubus to walk down and notice the upset quartet.
"Hi?" Maggie greeted. "Why do you look sad? Or in Haiku's case, sadder than usual?"
Haiku pouted and stared at Maggie in disapproval, while Polly explained, "We're trying to figure out what are we supposed to do now that things keep popping up that makes Ynovation just one of many cogs in a wheel. We used to be Lincoln's go-to friend group outside of his four friends, but now, he barely hangs out with us, and so... we're not sure what to do."
"You don't really need Lincoln in order to move forward," Maggie pointed out. "One of you can travel through time, right? Why don't you use that to figure out something in the past that can help everyone with their problems?"
"We can't," Haiku sighed. "Last time it was attempted, Tabby was startled by a woman somehow being able to see her, and she's been apprehensive about doing anything like that again in fear that the woman will appear again."
Maggie eyed Tabby, who avoided eye contact while looking visibly concerned. Seeing this, Maggie got an idea.
"Then why don't you use a crystal ball as a bridge?"
The Ynovative Four immediately had their attention piqued. "What do you mean?"
"Well, think of it like this," Maggie walked to the group and sat down next to them. "Fortune tellers use crystal balls in order to see potential timelines to read people their fortune, correct? Haiku can use crystal balls like they were spells, and one of you can travel through time. So, why not use one of Haiku's crystal balls and apply the time traveling aspect to it so that instead of only showing up to the traveler, it shows up in the crystal ball as well?"
Hearing those words caused the Ynovative Four to exchange looks and think about Maggie's words carefully...
"That... might be worth a try, actually..."
Without hesitation, Haiku created a crystal ball and placed it on the table, with Tabby sitting by her side and motioning her hands over the crystal ball as the rest of the girls watched at the sidelines. Tabby closed her eyes and attempted to tap onto her Cliche without accidentally sending herself on another deep sleep, with Haiku glancing between her and the crystal ball in case something happened.
And something did eventually happen: inside the crystal ball appeared a shaky image of what looked like the living room of the house, with the image changing as Tabby began to look around the environment, moving her head to the sides at the same time as the image changed. This made the other girls smile with relief, especially Haiku, who looked back at Tabby with a smile as the time traveler opened her eyes again, causing the image to dissipate while she rubbed her head.
"Ugh, my head," Tabby groaned. "So, tell me, did something happen with the crystal ball?"
"Yeah, an image that looked exactly like the living room showed up inside it, and it moved when you moved your head, too!" Giggles chirped. "I think what happened is that you projected what you saw when traveling back in time and it showed up on the ball!"
"Which means that if we're able to repeat this while in another location," Haiku argued. "Then we can find out what happened in that location without leaving you alone to see the weird woman again! And we'll be kept in the loop as well!"
"Well, color me surprised," Polly put a hand on Maggie's shoulder. "I guess you're not just a pretty face, after all!"
Maggie stared at Polly before shooting an angry glare at Haiku, who winced and shook her head as if to say "it wasn't me this time". However, the group's attention was caught by something else soon after: Tabby groaning while rubbing her forehead in pain.
"Tabby, what's wrong?" Haiku asked, putting a hand on Tabby's shoulder. "Is something the matter? Do you feel sick?"
"No, I... just feel a little dizzy..." Tabby replied. "I guess attempting to project time travel to someone other than myself took a little more out of me than I expected, hehe."
"Well, that's good to know at least," Giggles remarked. "I mean, imagine if we had found out about that after doing something like checking the past for a while-"
"Or better yet, don't," Haiku stated as she helped Tabby get to the couch. "For now, let Tabby rest, and watch over her while I talk with Maggie about something."
The True Succubus winced, and while the Magical Clown and faux Monkey King checked over the time traveler of Ynovation, Haiku stood up and brought Maggie with her to the kitchen, just far away enough from the trio to be able to talk by themselves without their interruptions.
"So, uh, that was a pretty good idea you gave us there. The time travel and crystal ball mix thing," Haiku told her sister while she grabbed a glass of water. "Thank you for the suggestion, you might've just given us an idea on how to stay relevant with all these moving pieces."
"It's okay, Haiku, what are sisters for?" Maggie sighed before giving Haiku some water. "To be honest, I'm kinda surprised you didn't reach that conclusion on your own. After all, you're the one with the brains, and I'm just a pretty face."
Haiku nervouly sipped her water while Maggie drank her own glass of water, with an awkward silence developing between the sisters as Haiku tried to think of something else to discuss...
"You seemed to be heading somewhere before you noticed us. Were you planning to go somewhere in particular today?"
"I was heading to the Loud House," Maggie answered with a shrug. "One of Lincoln's sisters said she figured out something with her little sister-"
"Which one?"
"Doesn't matter; what matters is that they found out something that they think could be useful if shown to other people," Maggie continued. "Cristina, one of Lincoln's friends, confirmed what they said and suggested all three of them teach me about it..."
Maggie hummed. "And in fact, I think it might be able to help you and your friends with Tabby's headache!"
"Really? That would definitely help," Haiku scratched her chin. "What is this
Maggie smiled...
...
The door to the Loud House was knocked on three times, and on the fourth knock, Luan opened the door to find Maggie standing outside.
"Maggie, hi! I was just waiting for you!" Luan chirped. "So tell me, are you ready to learn what we found out about fusion?"
"Mhm, just one thing before coming in," Maggie shrugged. "I hope you don't mind that I brought a plus one."
Luan raised an eyebrow, but she soon understood what Maggie meant when she stepped aside to reveal Haiku standing behind her, rubbing her arm and waving her hand shyly. Seeing this, Luan glanced at the sisters before smiling and chirping:
"The more, the merrier! Come right in!"
