Chapter 22: Beautiful

It was the next day, and we see Rose standing outside of a changing room at the mall. She was in her usual civilian clothes, but this time, their hair didn't cover her eye-patch anymore. She was trying to get more comfortable with people seeing it.

Moments later, Bryan walked out, now wearing a dark blue shirt, black leather jacket and black pants. He wore a glove over his metallic hand, and sunglasses to hide his cybernetic eye. He looked kinda like the terminator, only less Austrian.

Bryan said, "thanks for taking me out to get some normal clothes Rose."

Rose said, "oh, it was no trouble."

Bryan asked, "so, you wanna get something to eat?"

Rose said, "uh, sure."

And with that, the two walked off towards the food court.

….

Jack was currently swimming outside the tower, cooling off in some blue swim trunks.

As Jack stepped out of the water and onto the beach for a moment, he heard someone walking towards him on the beach.

Jack looked up, and nearly fainted from the sight.

Raven was in a black one piece swimsuit that hugged her figure remarkably well.

Raven said, "hey Jack. Mind if I join you?"

Jack said, "gulp, sure."

Raven smiled softly as she made her way into the water, shivering slightly until she was waist deep in the water.

Jack and Raven swam in the water together.

Jack kept blushing as he saw Raven dive down and then come back up, pulling her hair back and squeezing the water out of it.

When Jack turned away for a moment, Raven took a glance at his muscled body and started blushing herself.

….

A few minutes later….

Jack and Raven made their way over to the shore, and sat down on two rocks.

Raven said, "that water feels really nice."

Jack said, "yeah it does. Hey, you want me to dry us both off?"

Raven said, "sure."

Jack grabbed his staff and blew air all around them, making their hair stand up for a moment before they both brushed them down.

Raven asked, "so, how exactly do your powers work?"

Jack said, "huh, all this time together and I haven't really explained them in detail, have I?"

Raven said, "I don't think so."

Jack said, "well, I guess I was born with these powers. To control the elements. But I never knew until I found the staff. It basically helped me discover my powers. Helps me harness them. I'm still trying to figure out how to control them on my own, without the staff. That way, if I ever lose it in battle, I can actually fight. I'm still working on that though."

Raven said, "I'm sure it'll come to you one day. Now, how about we head inside and make lunch?"

Jack said, "sure thing."

And so, Jack and Raven made their way back to the tower.

….

Rose and Bryan were in the food court of the mall.

Rose was eating a chicken sandwich and fries, while Bryan was eating a great big cheese burger, fries and chicken nuggets.

Rose said, "jeez, you think you have enough to eat?"

Bryan said, "all Slade ever fed me as his minion was a food paste of some kind. And staying in hiding didn't give me time to eat out. I wanna savor this food as much as I can."

Rose looked down with a sad expression.

Bryan asked, "something wrong?"

Rose said, "… My dad basically tortured you. Kept you as a slave. And yet you're eating lunch with me like we've known each other since grade school."

Bryan said, "I don't hold what your dad did against you. You didn't even know I was under his control when you joined the Titans. It's alright Rose. I think both of us suffered at his hands."

Rose felt her eye patch.

Rose said, "yeah…. I guess we have."

And who was walking up to their table?

Cash and Sammy!

They clearly didn't know to stay away from the Titans.

Rose muttered, "ugh, not these idiots again."

Bryan asked, "who are they?"

Rose said, "these are the guys who stole Victor's car, and then Gizmo stole it from them, and then Overload stole it from them."

Bryan groaned, "oof."

Cash said, "hey there cutie."

Rose groaned, "do I know you?"

Sammy said, "you were with that crazy cyborg dude."

Rosegrowled, "oh, you mean my friend?"

Cash said, "yeah. That guy."

Bryansaid, "I don't think she likes you guys."

Sammy asked, "who the flying Grayson are you?"

Bryan said, "I'm Bryan."

Sammy asked, "what are you? Her boyfriend?"

Bryan tried to say, "well-"

Rose quickly said, "YES! Er, yes. He's my boyfriend."

Bryan held a surprised look as Rose blushed with an angry expression directed to Cash and Sammy.

Cash said, "oh, honey, you can do so much better."

Rose said, "oh? Then why are you idiots here?"

Bryan snickered as Cash and Sammy grew angry faces.

Cash growled, "ugh, forget it. Why would I be interested in a one eyed freak?"

Rose looked down as she blocked her eye-patch.

Cash growled, "come on Sammy. Le-"

Cash was lifted into the air by Bryan with one hand, (the robotic one), who was glaring at Cash as Sammy took a step back in fear.

Bryan took his glasses off, revealing his cybernetic eye was glowing red.

Bryan growled, "if you ever insult her again, I'll give you guys the smack down of a lifetime."

Bryan threw Cash into Sammy, and the two punks ran off as fast as they could.

Bryan turned to Rose, his cybernetic eye turning to normal.

Bryan asked, "can we talk somewhere?"

Rose nodded as they finished their meals in silence.

….

Sarah and Vic were at the arcade, and the latter was currently kicking his butt at Galaga, quickly beating his high score.

Vic asked, "how did you get so good at this game?"

Sarah said, "practice, my dear Victor. Lots of practice."

Vic could only chuckle as Sarah kept racking up higher points.

….

Bryan and Rose were sitting on the top of the mall together with bags of the stuff they bought.

Rose said, "Bryan…. About what happened in the food court…."

Bryan asked, "which one?"

Rose said, "uh, let's go with me calling you my boyfriend first."

Bryan said, "oh, that…."

Rose said, "look, uh, about that-"

Bryan asked, "you don't actually like me do you?"

Rose asked, "what? No, of course I do!"

Bryan said, "then…. Did you really mean it? Do you wanna be my girlfriend?"

Rose said, "well, yeah…. Do you wanna be…. My boyfriend."

Bryan took Rose's hand in his and said, "yes. Yes I do."

Rose smiled, but it faded as she asked, "even with…. This?"

She meant her missing eye.

Bryan looked down for a moment before he looked at Rose and said, "show me."

Rose asked, "what?"

Bryan said, "show me, and I'll give you my answer."

Rose seemed unsure, but slowly pulled the patch off, revealing the empty socket she kept hidden behind the patch and her hair.

Rose asked, "well?"

Rose was startled for a moment when Bryan leaned forward, and kissed around her eye.

Bryan pulled back and said, "yes. Even with one eye, I wanna be with you."

Rose gave a wide smile with tears of joy in her eye before she kissed Bryan on the lips! The boy was startled for a moment before he melted into the kiss, and the two sat there in their kiss for a solid twenty seconds, before they broke for air.

The two of them spent the next few minutes sitting together in a comfortable silence, before deciding to head home, holding each other's hands.

….

Back at the tower, we see Blackfire and BB playing video games together with Percy napping nearby.

And…. That's pretty much it.

They were just playing games as Jack was making dinner. He was cooking some hamburgers on the stove, and some fries in the oven.

He was making sure to have some tofu on standby for BB.

Meanwhile, Sarah and Vic were back as well. Sarah was looking over some papers from her class, while Raven was, what else?

Reading a book.

Vic was talking to his dad on the phone. He was calling to see how Fixit was doing.

Yeah, I bet you thought we forgot about him, hmm? But nope! Fixit was making good progress, getting better at using his new body. His body was all white, and was built around Fixit's main core, ie: his head, torso and arms. The way it was all built, it was like repairing the broken parts of a car and adding a new coat of paint.

Soon, Dick and Starfire walked in, with Bryan and Rose soon arriving behind them.

Jack asked, "so, how did your guys' day go?"

Bryan said, "great. And we've got some news!"

Rose said, "we uh…. We're a couple now."

Everyone was surprised, before Starfire yelled in joy and flew to them and hugged them.

Starfire said, "oh, most joyous! I am so happy for you both! Let us have a most glorious feast tonight!"

Jack said, "lucky for you guys, I'm almost done with dinner."

Once Jack finished, everyone sat down for a nice meal together.

It was quite a nice time, a warm and friendly atmosphere over the entire area.

….

Meanwhile, as H.I.V.E, we see Jinx laying on her bed, reading a book as she said to herself, "I hope the others are having a nice night together…."

….

We see Slade sitting at a secret safe house. He's repairing his mask; nearing completion as he fills the cracks of the black and orange face.

We catch a glimpse of their face in the light, white hair being illuminated in the light of the welding torch he was using. One of the eyes was covered by an eye-patch.

He spoke to himself saying, "soon, I will make the Titans pay. Especially three. My former apprentices, and my traitorous daughter. Soon…."

….

After dinner, everyone went to their beds for the night.

Vic went ahead and drove Sarah home.

Jack carried Raven to her room. When he tried to place her down, she held onto him like he was a giant teddy bear. Jack was pulled down next to her, and resigned himself to his fate, dozing off with his girlfriend.

The same happened with Bryan and Rose, except, it was Bryan who pulled Rose next to him.

….

Miles away from the city, we see a blonde girl, the same age as our heroes, standing atop a cliff, staring out at Jump City.

She was wearing a gray shirt, blue shorts, and some gloves.

The girl smiled as she said, "maybe this'll be a good place to start over…. Make some friends… Who knows?"

And with that, she began making her way towards the city….
