Chapter 2
It's been two weeks since Naruto met Ty Lee and he couldn't lie, he missed her bubbly personality and her smile. He was told what his group was up to when they were in Omashu and by the end of it he was laughing his ass off and rolling around on the floor.
In the last two weeks, they'd made stops at different villages when they'd need to get supplies. On the way to their destination to the North Pole, Naruto told them about who would be perfect as his EarthBending teacher and when he asked who it was, he merely said he'd have to wait and see which made him pout, but it was all fun for everyone. Right now they were heading to Gaoling City to get supplies, as they were running low. He also had something more in mind that he wanted to show them.
"Come on Naruto, you said there was something that you wanted us to see, so what is it?" Aang whined, wanting to see what the blonde had in mind for them.
"Keep your pants on kid, you'll find out in just a second… Aha, there we are." He said, when he spotted who he was looking for. "Hey kid, I need to ask you something about Earth Rumble Six." He told the kid who looked at him.
"What do you want to know about it?" The teenager asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Is "she" going to be there tonight? You know the champ?" He questioned the teen who gave him a knowing look and smirked with a nod.
"Yeah she is. "The teen answered as he walked away with Naruto heading back towards the group.
"Alright guys, tonight there's an event called Earth Rumble Six where you'll get to see some Earth Benders. This'll be good for Aang to see some Earthbending in action along with your future teacher." He grinned in excitement.
"Are you sure? I'm not entirely sure about this." Katara said, unsure about the whole thing.
"I'm positive, trust me on this one, you'll want to be there." Naruto said with them nodding and continued to explore the town. They split up with Aang and Sokka looking around at different shops while Naruto, Suki, and Katara were shopping for food and other supplies that they'll need. Now that Katara had her jacket off, he could get a good look at her figure and he had to say, he liked what he saw. She had a slim waist, a round ass, and low D-cup breasts.
"So Naruto, what can you tell us about your home village? What's it like?" Katara asked, wanting to learn more about her friend's home.
"Well let's see, my home village is called Konoha or Village Hidden in the Leaves. It's one of the major villages out of five that make up my world. My father is the leader of the village with my mother being a teacher for students. My home along with the other villages are militarized with different ranks starting at Genin when you first graduate the academy, than Chunin is next which allows Genins to take certain exams to move up to the next rank or even higher, Special Jonin, Jonin, and Elite Jonin are the next ranks that are achievable as well, but require more to become than a Chunin. Than we have the special black ops known as Anbu which take the most difficult and dangerous missions given by the Hokage or Fire Shadow when no one else can handle them." He explained, getting awed and intrigued looks from them.
"Your father is the leader of the village with your mother being a Jonin right?" Suki asked, wanting to make sure she got that right.
"Yes they are. I don't think he'll be much longer considering he's been in the position for years already." He said.
"Do you have any siblings or any girlfriends waiting for you?" Katara asked, looking innocent, but got a look from Suki who was nodding at her head.
"I have a little sister who should be eight years old. And no, I don't have a girlfriend or anything of the sort. Why do you ask?" He asked, raising his eyebrow in curiosity.
"Just curious." Katara answered nonchalantly, but in her mind a chibi version was pumping her fist in the air with a wide smile on her face. Unknown to them, Suki was of a similar mind.
"What's she like?" Suki asked, but saw him smile and then he paled making them look at him questioningly.
"What is it?" Katara asked him worriedly.
"Nothing. She's a lot like my mom and also a prankster." He shivered at the memory of her pranks she'd pull not only on him, but others. "She has red hair like her, but blue eyes like dad." He smiled as he pulled out a picture of his family and showed it to them.
"Awe. She's adorable. How old were you at the time?" Katara asked, cooing at the picture of the little girl, while trying not to blush at him.
"I was 10 at the time and she was 2. She's a little firecracker, but is such a sweetheart." He smiled sadly as he looked at his family.
Suki and Katara saw the sad smile and each held a hand to comfort him which he appreciated.
"You'll see them again. You'll find a way to get back home." Suki smiled at him, kissed his cheek and blushed with Naruto blushing from the gesture. Katara glared at her, not wanting to be out done, kissed his other cheek which made his face get redder. The two girls glared at each other.
"Kit, you're one lucky guy to get two girls like that who are wanting you." Kurama said, trying not to laugh at his situation, but was also approving of the two girls.
"Oi! It's not like that you bastard fox! I don't like them that way" He yelled at the biju in his mind denying the claim.
"Who do you take us for? You're only lying to yourself." Kurama said with a grin.
"If you're not wanting to have any feelings for them, then why do you stay with them?" Isobu chimed in.
"Because it's the right thing to do and I'll get to the North Pole faster this way." He said with a claim, but they weren't taking it.
"Bah you could've gotten there already on your own and the right thing? That may be somewhat true, but deep down you care for the girls greatly." Kurama said, making Naruto frown.
"I'm done talking about this. I know that I'm right." He told them, ending the conversation as the biju just looked at Naruto sadly.
Earth Rumble Arena
Naruto had led everyone to where Earth Rumble Six would be taking place. They went down to many staircases surrounding the ring, looking for a good spot to watch from. Naruto could safely say that he was looking forward to their reactions to what his friend could do.
"Hey front row seats!" Aang declared to the others as he looked at the seats. "I wonder why no one else is sitting here?" He asked out loud as they sat down. Not long after he said those words, a giant boulder crashed into the seats right next to Sokka.
"I guess that's why!" Sokka cried out as he leapt away from the seat. It was way too close for comfort for him.
They turned to face the ring as a man walked onto the middle of the ring. He bent the earth beneath him as a pillar rose him up where he was standing and sent it back down into the ring, showing he was not bad at Earthbending.
"Welcome to Earth Rumble VI and I am your host Xin Fu!" He declared loudly for everyone to hear which got everyone to cheer and clap in excitement.
"Well this should be interesting." Naruto said, then looking at the Airbender. "Watch how these guys do Aang, you might learn something, but I'm telling you to really pay attention." He said with a grin confusing everyone since Naruto seemed to be really excited about something.
Katara and Suki both looked at him before sighing. "This is just going to be a bunch of guys chucking rocks at each other won't it?
"That's what I paid for." Sokka cheered with the rest of the crowd.
"Idiot." Suki mumbled to herself as Naruto chuckled.
"The rules are simple!" the host continued. "Just knock the other guy out of the ring and you win." He leapt up to a ledge as a bell went off. Standing in the ring was now a big, heavily muscled man with a badger-mole tattoo on his back and a really big man who was missing his front teeth (both top and bottom).
"Round 1: The Boulder vs. the Big Bad Hippo!" Xin Fu announced to the cheers of the audience.
"Listen up, Hippo," the Boulder called out as he pointed to his opponent. "You may be big but you ain't bad. The Boulder's going to win this in a landslide!"
"Hippo mad!" was the Hippo's reply, stomping a foot into the ground and causing a crack.
The Boulder quickly bent a chunk of the ring at the Hippo. It slammed into the Hippo, creating a bit of a dust screen. It cleared away, showing the Hippo looking no worse for wear and with a big rock in his mouth. He proceeded to bite down on the rock, shattering it and began to chew on the piece that was in his mouth. He spat it out and began to jump up and down, causing the ring to act like a seesaw. "Unbelievable, ladies and gentlemen!" announced Xin Fu. The Hippo is rocking the boat!"
The Boulder staggered back across the ring and almost fell off. To save himself, he bent a flat piece of rock out of the side of the ring to balance himself. Grabbing hold of the piece, he whipped his body forward and hurled the piece of rock at the Hippo. The Hippo turned to glare at the Boulder, who jumped away from the edge. The Boulder got into a stance and slowly but surely, bent the ground beneath the Hippo upwards. It caught the Hippo by surprise and the Boulder used that to hurl the rock, with the Hippo on it, out of the ring.
"The Boulder wins!" Xin Fu announced. The Boulder drank in the applause of the crowd, proud to have won.
"They're not bad, but not impressive." Kurama commented, boredom in his voice.
"I agree. She's much better than them. How do you think they'll react to seeing her?" Naruto asked his tenants.
"They'll be in for a surprise, but she'll be good for the Airbender. After all, he's pretty weak and needs an ass kicking to toughen up." Isobu said with the two nodding in agreement.
"Well that was… something." It was all Naruto could say with the others agreeing minus Sokka who was cheering and yelling like a madman, loved how the match went.
"I don't know," Aang replied, feeling uneasy about the Earthbender. "Bumi said I need a teacher who listens to the earth. He's just listening to his big muscles." He looked over at Sokka. "What do you think, Sokka?"
"Woohoo! Oh yeah! He's bringing on the pain!" Sokka shouted as he did some gestures, making everyone look at him odd.
"Well, we'll just have to continue to watch the rest of the matches. I'm sure there's someone here otherwise Naruto wouldn't have brought us here."Suki said as everyone agreed, minus Sokka who was too into the matches.
Naruto was staring at the boulder who was flexing his muscles and the gloating was starting to piss him off. He wasn't that impressive. His Earth Ninjutsu was a thousand times better than his bending could ever be.
Katara and Suki noticed he was getting upset for some reason and became worried. So, they grabbed a hand each, giving him a small squeeze which snapped him out of it and looked at the two before nodding in thanks and he relaxed a bit. They leaned on his shoulders making him go stiff for a brief moment, but they didn't notice. Aang saw this and grumbled, giving him a small glare before he looked back at the arena. He'd need to do something about that since he liked Katara.
They watched the matches go by and nothing really stood out to them that would ge their attention, but they'd see Naruto smirking the whole time as if he was waiting for something or someone. As the final match was about to be announced, the lights died down, leaving only a spotlight on Xin Fu.
"Now, the moment you've all been waiting for," Xin Fu said to the quiet audience. "The Boulder versus, your champion…the Blind Bandit!" A light shined down upon a girl that was two years younger than Naruto, but was beautiful in a green shirt and pants with a white tunic over them and a studded belt around her waist. She had a nice round butt with low C-Cup breasts. She also wore dark green bands around her waists and her ankles. She wore a headband in her hair that was green and yellow with a white puffball attached to it just above each ear. She held up the championship belt above her head as the crowd cheered her on.
"She can't really be blind. It's just part of her character, right?" Katara asked. The girl's eyes were a light green color but were also unfocused, like she was just looking straight ahead.
"I think she is," Aang answered, looking at her.
"She is blind, but you'll be surprised with how good she is. Just watch. It won't take long for it to end." Naruto said, looking back at the arena.
"The boulder is conflicted in attacking a blind girl." The boulder said in slight concern which didn't last long.
"What's the matter, scared boulder? Muahaha." She laughed as the audience "oh'd" at the man with Naruto laughing his ass off.
"The boulder is over with his conflicted feeling and now he's going crush you in a rock-alanche." The boulder said.
She pointed at him with a grin. "Whenever you're ready the pebble." She grinned cheekily, further angering the man.
"It's on!" the Boulder announced. They had a bit of a stare off (which was redundant when one of them is blind). He made the first move by stepping forward. He brought his right foot down and brought the other foot up. The girl went into her stance and waited. When the Boulder began to bring his left foot down, she just simply kicked the ground, sending a line of rocks towards the Boulder, but not directly at him. As the Boulder brought his foot down, it landed on the rock-line which then curved to the left. The result was the Boulder doing the splits (which, apparently, he couldn't do). "OOOOOOOOOOOH!" cried out the Boulder in pain. The girl quickly followed up with a hand chopping motion, causing three rock columns to jut out of the ring behind the Boulder, hitting him hard and sending him out of the ring.
"Your winner and still the champion, the Blind Bandit!" announced Xin Fu. The girl smiled and raised a fist as the crowd cheered.
"How did she do that?" Katara asked. She had never seen anything like that before.
"She's gotten better." Naruto grinned, as everyone was looking at him.
"You knew she'd win didn't you? How do you know her?" Suki asked him with curiosity.
"Two years ago, I was in Gaoling for supplies before I would make my way towards some camps that I had heard that held Earthbenders as prisoners. When I was leaving, I came across Toph being kidnapped from her home by some bandits, but before they could get anyway, I intercepted them and easily dispatched them. When I returned her to her parents, I was offered a job to act as her bodyguard for a few months while they would search for more permanent guards. I was there for a few months and I got close to the family, especially Toph.
"How close are we talking here?" Katara asked, her eye twitching, something that Aang noticed, making him wonder what's got her so annoyed.
"I'd say we're pretty close. At first she wanted nothing to do with me, but we'll save that story for another time. Looks like Xin is up to something." Naruto said, as they looked back at the arena.
Xin Fu leapt back into the ring. "To make things a little more interesting, I'm offering up this sack of gold pieces to anyone who can defeat the Blind Bandit!" The entire cave was dead silent. "What, no one dares to face her!?" Xin Fu demanded. He wasn't surprised. No one really wanted to fight her. She was the champion, after all.
"I'll take a shot at her." Naruto raised his hand with a smirk.
Toph had been having a good day, Her parents had been less strict with her and giving her more freedom the last couple of years. Of course it's been slow, but they're making progress. They even got to see how good she was at Earthbending despite being blind. And it was all thanks to her best friend who saved her two years ago even if she didn't need his help. He was able to talk to her parents to see that she wasn't the helpless girl that they believed which led to them getting closer as a family. He was able to help with her Earthbending a bit. Sure he couldn't bend, but he was tough and could use Earth for Ninjutsu, although she doesn't know everything about him, she knows enough to trust him.
She was bored though as she "watched" the matches and she wasn't impressed with the competitors, so when she saw who her opponent was, she was smirking knowing it would be easy for her, but had some hope he would make things interesting. She was disappointed in the match, having lasted two seconds and was now waiting for someone to challenge her, but when no one said anything she was about to walk away, but heard a familiar voice she hadn't heard in a long while since he left. Her cheeks gained a pink hue knowing exactly who it was.
Back to Naruto and the others, he had just volunteered to fight her, surprising the group.
"What? Are you serious about this?" Sokka asked in surprise.
"Of course I am. Hehe. This will be a lot of fun." He smirked, but wasn't prepared for two smacks to his head and when he turned to them, he saw Katara and Suki looking at him dangerously. Not wanting to deal with their anger, he jumped down to the arena where a smirking Toph was waiting.
"It's been a long time sensei. I hope you're ready for a smackdown!" Toph said with a grin eager to fight her former bodyguard and teacher.
"We'll see then won't we?" He smirked, getting into a stance following with her own stance.
"Begin!" Xin declared, jumping away from them.
Toph immediately made the first move by sending a giant boulder at him and bringing her hand forward.
Naruto jumped to the side avoiding the boulder, before going through hand signs.
"Earth Release: Rock Gun Technique!"
A small amount of bullet size bits of rock was spat out of his mouth heading towards the blind girl, but she brought her arms up side by side as a large earth wall appeared in front of her taking the impact of the attack.
What she wasn't prepared for was Naruto appearing next to her finishing with a hand sign when a large hammer made of rock appeared ready to knock her out of the ring.
What happened next surprised him completely as she covered both hands in rock taking the impact, taking off most of the rock, but enough for her to punch him in the stomach pushing him back towards the edge.
She quickly stomped her foot before spikes of earth appeared approaching him forcing him to go through another set of hand signs before slamming his hand on the ground.
A wall of earth appeared in front of him which took the impact, but it cracked until it shattered, surprising him, but he channeled chakra into his hand and punched the rest of the spikes that went through.
Toph immediately sent multiple rocks at him, forcing him to roll to the side to avoid them, but had to immediately bring his hands up in a X manner, when a boulder was in front of him before it crashed into him.
"Naruto!" Katara yelled in worry seeing her friend take a hit like that. Suki wasn't faring much better as she was also worried about him.
"Wow. This battle is crazy!" Sokka screamed out at the fight he was seeing.
"This. is. AWESOME! They're both so good. I didn't know that Naruto was an Earthbender, but?" Aang asked, confused.
"But what?" Suki asked.
"I could've sworn I saw Naruto firebend back on Kyoshi while he fought someone?" Aang asked, with confusion on his face.
"How's that possible? I thought only the Avatar could bend more than one element?" Sokka was confused now hearing this.
"I'm not sure. I'm sure he'll tell us if we asked him about it. I doubt he was hiding it or anything." Suki said, with Katara nodding much to Sokka's confusion grew even more since he's always known how much she hated the firebenders, but she didn't even seem bothered by this news.
"I agree with her, I'm sure if we ask him about it, he'll tell us as I don't think he'd lie to us or work with the Fire Nation." Aang said, making him nod slowly, but narrowed his eyes at where Naruto was.
The dust settled and they could see Naruto standing there unharmed, but what everyone saw was he was holding the giant rock with one hand like nothing. He brought it up and threw it back at where Toph was, but punched it with an infused chakra punch. It shattered it and with the fragments, flew at her causing her to create a dome of earth to protect her.
She brought the dome down to finish things, but he was gone. The next thing she knew was her arm was grabbed and threw her out of the arena with a thud she landed outside of the ring.
It was quiet for a moment until they started cheering and shouting for an amazing match with Naruto grinning in embarrassment. He looked down to where Toph was and saw her tsk, but she had a small smile on her face. Naruto quickly took the belt and gold and went down to meet with her.
"That was a great match, Toph. You've improved so much and almost had me at times. You're hand to hand has gotten better with that one punch alone told me you hadn't slacked off on that aspect" He said with pride in his voice, but he missed the small blush appear on her cheeks.
"W-whatever. What brings you back to Gaoling though?" Toph asked as they walked out of the arena.
"I'm with a group and one of them could use your help. He's the Avatar and I want you to be his Earthbending teacher." He told her, getting her to look at him with wide eyes.
"Really? You want me to train the Avatar? As much as I would love that since I would travel a lot, we should talk to my parents about it." She said, getting a nod from him.
"True. Let's go meet up with my friends and we can head over to your home." He said with a grin.
Naruto and Toph made their way towards the group who were waiting just outside the cave.
"Yo. Hope you guys enjoyed the show." He said as they nodded slowly while they were looking at them in awe and surprise, Suki and Katara less, but still had the expression.
"That was awesome man! You were firing off attack after attack with he doing the same non-stop! What was with the strange hand movements though?" Sokka asked.
"Also how were you able to bend earth when you used fire to fight Azula, I don't get it?" Aang asked with confusion, getting looks from Sokka who had no idea he could bend two elements.
"I'm one of a kind." Naruto simply said with a smug tone, but got two smacks in the back of the head courtesy of Katara and Suki.
"Way to be humble Naruto." Katara deadpanned with Suki shaking her head.
"So rude." He grumbled making them laugh.
"So everyone this is Toph Beifong, the girl I used to act as a "bodyguard" for a few months two years ago. Toph these are my friends." Naruto introduced, as they greeted and introduced themselves.
"What now?" Aang asked curiously.
"We're going to be heading to my house and talk to my parents about me not only teaching you Earthbending, but also traveling with you guys." Toph grinned in excitement, hoping that her parents would let her go.
They nodded and left and headed towards Toph's home and they got to know each other, but found out that Katara and Toph were completely different with Katara being more polite and kind whereas Toph was abrasive, didn't care what others thought, and blunt. Suki was a mixture of both which would be good as she could be the mediator between the two since Naruto wouldn't want to get in the middle of those arguments or fights.
They made it to the compound and they were amazed at the place. It had a large front yard with open grass that had walls surrounding the area to protect the grounds.
"Let's go and you sir." Toph punched Naruto's shoulder. "Need to say hi to my parents since it's been awhile and they'd love to see you." She said, making him nod slowly.
They made it to the entrance as they greeted the guards with them nodding, but not before greeting them with Lady Toph and Lord Naruto, despite him having told them in the past not to call him that, he saw the mirth in their eyes knowing it would bother him.
"Mom, dad I'm back and we have some visitors!" Toph called out as they saw her parents walk in with smiles on their faces at seeing their daughter.
"Who is it Toph?" Her mother asked, looking at the group until she got to Naruto and gasped with a wide smile. "Naruto!" She shouted and hugged him like a mother would her son making him blush in embarrassment, much to the amusement of the others.
"Hello Lady Beifong. It's good to see you again. You as well Lord Beifong." He greeted politely, getting looks from the two parents.
"You don't need to be so formal with us my boy. You're like family to us and will always be treated as such." Lao said with a smile, than he turned to the others. "And who are the rest of you if I may ask?" He asked.
"It's a pleasure to meet you sir. I'm Aang and i'm the Avatar and these are our friends." He introduced himself, getting surprised looks from the two as Toph was already told.
"I'm Katara and this is my brother Sokka." Katara introduced, bowing at them.
"My name is Suki, a Kyoshi Warrior." She introduced like Katara bowed to them.
"Come and sit down. We have much to discuss and to catch up on during dinner. I want to hear what you've been doing ever since you left and what you and your friends are doing here." Poppy said as they led the group to the dining room.
As they spent the next two hours while they ate dinner and talking to catch up along with learning that Naruto had been freeing Earth villages and the destroying the Fire Nation camps that held Earthbenders prisoner. He was a hero to the people and now he was with the Avatar helping him along with who Poppy said were two beautiful women, claiming that they along with Toph would look cute together with him, making all four blush.
When dinner finished they moved their conversation to the living room to discuss what they had come to Gaoling knowing that they had something to ask them.
"So what brings you back to Gaoling?" Lao asked curiously.
"It involves Aang actually." Naruto said, gesturing to the bald kid who got a nod from the blonde.
"I'm needing an Earthbending teacher and after hearing and seeing Toph in Earth Rumble Six I'd like to have her teach me Earthbending." Aang explained getting shocked looks from the parents who looked unsure about it.
"I don't know. Are you sure there aren't any others that could teach you?" Lao asked, unsure about it.
"I'm not the most keen on the idea either, but I think this could be good for her and it's not like she'd be alone. Naruto would be with her after all and he's always kept her safe." Poppy said with a smile making her husband relax a little, but was still not entirely sure about letting his daughter go.
"And it's not like she'd be gone forever. We'll be back that I can promise you." Naruto said with a smile..
"Will you always protect her and keep her safe?" Lao asked, narrowing his eyes at Naruto who gave him a nod resolutely, promising to protect not just her, but all of his friends.
"I promise and I've never been one to break them and I don't plan on starting now." Naruot said with the others smiling knowing how true that was.
Lao looked over at his wife and then at Toph, then back at Poppy who squeezed his hand gently and gave a gentle nod of encouragement.
*Sigh* "Alright. I'll let her go and help train the Avatar." Lao said with a small smile.
The group started celebrating having a new member of the group with Aang having a new teacher.
"But I have a couple of conditions that I want to happen before she goes with you all." Lao said seriously, making everyone stop celebrating and looking over at Toph's father. "One, that you make sure to write to us so we know you're safe." He said getting nods from him and Toph. "Two, to enjoy yourself my daughter and make us proud." He smiled at them.
"And don't forget about getting us some grandbabies to spoil." Poppy commented with a giggle seeing them blush red.
"Mom!" Toph shouted in embarrassment making the parents chuckle, but they noticed Katara and Suki giving glares at her making Poppy's grin grow even more. 'Oh looks like he's got more than one interested in him. Hehe. Oh this will be fun.' Poppy thought to herself as she giggled behind her hand.
Her husband saw the look and shook his head knowing what his wife was thinking about, but wouldn't be against Naruto marrying Toph since they're close friends already, but she could also see the other two girls had an interest in him too which made things more amusing.
Toph got out of her blush and embarrassment, before she hugged them with a grin on her face. Naruto saw the group hug, smiled sadly thinking about his family and wondered how they were doing. If they were doing okay. Katara saw the look and became worried at what he was thinking about.
"Thank you mom and dad! I'll make sure to make you both proud!" Toph yelled as they chuckled, but nodded knowing she would.
"And you, my boy make sure she stays safe and out of trouble." Poppy giggled when Toph pouted at the jab, but still had a smile on.
"I will. This'll be good for her." Naruto said as they nodded and Toph left to go pack her stuff.
Twenty minutes later Toph came back with two bags who looked ready to go as she gave her parents one more hug before leaving with everyone doing the same. Lao and Poppy watched them go and Poppy was tearing up a little seeing her little girl leave onto an adventure.
"She'll be alright dear. I trust Naruto to keep her safe even if she can look after herself." Lao said, seeing the tears on her face.
"I know, but she's my little girl."Poppy said, getting a nod from him.
They made it back to where Appa was and got settled before they took off leaving the place getting smaller and smaller from view.
"I look forward to learning from you Toph. I know you'll be an amazing teacher." Aang said with a grin.
"Thanks. I can't wait to get started." Toph said, when they saw her grin become wider almost to a sadistic degree, scaring all of them except for Naruto who was shaking his head amused.
"Let's go guys." Sokka said, as Naruto picked Toph up bridal style making her blush and tense for a moment before she snuggled into his chest.
"I don't like her already." Katara muttered under breath, but only Suki heard and nodded with a jealous glare.
"Oh shut up Sugar Queen, you gotta lighten up." She grinned at the water tribe girl.
"Sugar Queen?" Naruto asked, trying not to chuckle.
"It's a nickname thing I people. Naruto here is whiskers." She said, making him slump his shoulders as everyone laughed.
"What about me?" Aang asked about himself.
"...Twinkle Toes." She said after some thinking.
Everyone laughed as Aang sputtered at the nickname, looking embarrassed at what he was called.
"What would my nickname be?" Sokka asked curiously.
"Boomerang man." Toph said with a smirk, making him grumble at not having a cool name.
"And me?" Suki asked slowly, hoping that she's not given a weird nickname.
"Fan girl." She simply said.
"Not bad." Suki said, nodding at the nickname.
"Could be worse." Katara agreed, still a little miffed at her nickname.
"Oh come on guys. For now, it's getting late, so I suggest you all get some sleep. I'll take the reins." Naruto offered as they nodded except for Katara who stared at him.
Twenty minutes later everyone was asleep except for Naruto who was driving and Katara who was laying down, but had a lot on her mind, mainly what was going on with Naruto earlier. She got up and saw Naruto holding the reins making sure Appa stayed on the right path.
Naruto had been thinking about his family the last hour or so ever since he saw the family and couldn't help, but think about his own back in his dimension. Were they alright? Were they safe? He didn't know, but it hurt not knowing anything regarding them. Especially his little sister Mito who was about six when he came to this world, so all he could do was try to figure out a way to get back. He was cut off from his thinking when he felt someone grab his arm gently, he looked to see Katara looking at him with concern when she saw some small tears in his eyes. He realized he'd been shedding some and quickly wiped them away before smiling at her.
"What's wrong?" She asked him, who looked at her confused.
"What do you mean? Nothing is wrong." He denied with a forced smile.
She put a hand on her hips giving him a knowing look.
"You don't need to lie or try to hide anything from me, you know that right?" She asked quietly, Her beautiful blue eyes staring into his own ones which made his heart flutter a bit, but he shook his head mentally, trying to ignore the feelings that was going through his head.
"I don't know what you me-" He was cut off by her.
"Please don't do this Naruto." She pleaded, making him sigh before nodding.
"I was thinking about home. My family. I wonder how they're doing." He said, making her look at him sadly.
"You miss them don't you?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yeah I do. I always wonder how they're doing, but tonight seeing Toph and her parents hugging and interacting made me think back about them." He smiled at the thought.
"What were they like?" She asked, seeing his questioning look, she elaborated. "You've never talked about them before, so I'd like to know more about them.
"Sure. As long as you tell me about your parents. Deal?" He asked, making her smile and nod.
"Deal." She said, sitting down next to him and laying her head on his shoulder as he wrapped a hand around her shoulder as they told stories about each other and their families. They would spend the next couple hours switching stories, what neither realized was how close they were scooting towards each other as the night went on until Naruto switch with Sokka who didn't like Katara being up so late.
Konoha
Things had been different since Naruto disappeared and not a good different with how people had reacted to it.
Starting with his friends, they worried about him, mainly Kakashi Hatake, Kurenai Yuhi, Anko Miterashi, Genma, Shizune Kato, Itachi Uchiha, Izumi Uchiha, Shisui Uchiha, and Asuma Sarutobi. Whenever they'd be out on missions they would look for him when there were any leads regarding him, but nothing ever panned out. After the first six months of searching, they had started giving up not having any luck at finding him.
His family was a whole different matter in regards to him. Minato had sent out multiple Anbu teams to look for him, but nothing ever panned out. He missed his oldest and hoped that he'd come home someday.
His wife Kushina spent several days in his room crying herself to sleep, having missed him the most out of everyone aside from Mito, his younger sister. It took Mikoto, Tsume, and Tsunade to get out of her depression, but she would linger on whenever she'd pass his room. She started training again extensively to get back in shape and would look for him whenever she could or heard any news about him.
Tsunade and Jiraiya had started drinking more when they found out that Naruto had disappeared thinking that he was dead until he was told by the toads and slugs that Naruto's name was still both contracts. Jiraiya had used every source available to find his Godson, but every lead he got was a deadend. Tsunade after finding out that his name was off the contract started training like his mother had to expand her skills to help with searching for her Godson. She'd vow to find him someday and when she did, she'd never let him go again.
Lastly his sister Mito had taken it hard like Kushina as she cried for several days when she found out he was gone. When she got out of her depression, she put it into her training so she could be strong enough to find her big brother. She missed him and nothing was going to stop her from finding him.
Nothing had changed the last two years for them as they had been trying to find their missing family member. Minato was in his office doing paperwork when the door opened with Kushina and Mito walking, appear to be holding a basket.
"There are my girls. Are you doing okay today?" He asked the two who nodded solemnly at him.
"Yeah dad. It's just today's big brother's birthday." Mito sighed sadly thinking about him.
Minato and Kushina also held sad expressions knowing it was true. They missed their son dearly, but they didn't have any leads to him and it's been two years now.
"I miss him too, princess, but we haven't heard anything in months. All I can do is keep my ears open if I hear anything. For now though, let's go enjoy this day. Naruto would want us to celebrate and be happy, so we'll do this for him." Minato said as the girls nodded and left the office with Minato leaving four shadow clones to finish the paperwork.
"I want my little Naru back. I miss him so much, but you're right. We'll celebrate his birthday as if he was here in memory. I do wonder how he is and wherever he's at if he's safe." Kushina said when Mito got an idea to cheer them up.
"What if wherever Naruto is at, he's got himself a girlfriend." She giggled when she saw the look his parents had.
Minato held a smirk, hoping it was true and he'd be proud of his son. Kushina however was well…. She suddenly giggled to herself before laughing loudly almost madly. The reason being is because she was thinking of the grandbabies she'd get to spoil and meet the girl or girls as she'd want many grandchildren.
"Whoever my son gets with will be a lucky girl. There aren't many people out there like him." Minato said in pride for him with Mito nodding as Kushina was still giggling madly making him sweatdrop.
"I just want to have a sister-in-law and wonder if he's found anyone to be with." Mito wondered with a smile.
It was at that moment, all three heard something and when they looked up, they could see a small tear in the sky. It was enough for them to see several people though. Two of them had dark skin with blue eyes, one being a teenager around Naruto's age, a girl maybe a year or two years younger than him. A brown haired girl with her hair reaching her shoulders and had brown eyes, and a teen the youngest out of the group who was bald with a blue arrow on his head. It was the blonde that got their attention though, he had blue eyes and three whisker marks on his cheeks. What they were seeing was everyone on Appa's saddle. Naruto was with Katara as they talked while they were close and heads on each other in comfort with everyone else asleep.
"N-Naruto? Is that my Naruto?!" Kushina asked with wide eyes almost pleadingly as tears threatened to fall.
"But where is he and who's he with?" Mito was the same as her mother.
Minato was looking at the image trying to discern where the group was, so he could maybe figure out where they were, but nothing came to mind. He did notice how close he was to the girl and was smirking at his son.
"That's my boy!" Minato cheered with a grin, making Kushina look at him for a moment, before looking back and noticing the girl with him.
"NARU! WHO'S THAT GIRL YOU'RE WITH AND WHERE ARE YOU, SO MOMMY CAN COME GET YOU?!" She shouted as everyone was glad that others were seeing the same thing otherwise they'd be embarrassed even if they were a little.
"Oh don't be like that Kushi, she seems to care for him." Minato said, but shrunk away from her glare making him step back a bit.
"That's my son you bokka. I will worry about him." Kushina said with narrowed eyes.
"I wonder what they're talking about." Mito said, getting her parent's attention, but before they could listen the tear closed up, leaving the family to wonder about him as they headed to the family estate.
