Virtue and Venom: Chapter 27
In Konoha: Hokage tower
"Damn finally we're done" Anko said stretching her back "that mission was a pain in the ass; I can't wait to get some time off" she said and Kakashi who was walking next to her chuckled.
"I wouldn't mind that either" Kakashi said leaning in close "I mean you and me haven't really- "he began until they were stopped.
"Kakashi, Anko; you're back" Shizune shouted running up "go to lady Tsunade; something aweful has happened' she shouted. Anko and Kakashi were now on full alert and both rushed over to the hokage office; they threw open the door and Tsunade stood up and marched over.
"About damn time you got back; I need you to track down Inoichi and the retrieval team" Tsunade said.
"What happened" Kakashi asked.
"Sasuke and Mamushi were kidnapped most likely by Orochimaru; Inoichi took Naruto, Ino, Gaara, Lee, Neji, Kiba and Shikamaru as his team" Tsunade said making both jonin pale "they left 8 hours ago; they went North by Northwest now go" she shouted. "I also sent an emergency team 4 hours ago to go help but those 3 might not make it in time" she said.
Without saying another word Kakashi and Anko began to rush out of the tower and to the front gate; Kakashi bit his thumb and began to go through hand signs. He tapped the ground and summoned out Pakkun his dog summons "Yo Kakashi what's the hurry" Pakkun said.
Kakashi reached into his pocket and pulled out 3 pieces of cloth one orange, one purple and one dark blue "Pakkun these belong to Naruto, Ino and Sasuke; track their scents, they're in trouble" he said and Pakkun sniffed.
"I can smell the girl but not the boys; I can lead you to her" Pakkun said.
"Damn it; I forgot Sasuke uses scent killing soap and Naruto's scent probably changed since Ino buys him laundry detergent" Kakashi said "who knew Ino buying groceries for Naruto so much would come back and bite us in the ass" he said frustrated.
"We have Ino's scent and that's a good start" Anko said as she pulled out a small bracelet; Mamushi made her a friendship bracelet while she was in the hospital "how about this for scent for Mamushi" Anko said and Pakkun sniffed.
"Yeah, I got a scent too; if we follow Ino's scent I can pick up Mamushi's when we get near an area she was at" Pakkun said and both jonin nodded as they followed the small dog outside the village.
"Son of a bitch" Anko cursed "when I find who took Mamushi I'm going to rip them to shreds" she said.
"Anko calm down" Kakashi said "focus on finding Ino; when we get to her, we can work our way to finding Naruto and then Sasuke and Mamaushi" he said and Anko nodded.
Both jonin rushed forward going as fast as they could to reach their students.
With Naruto, Gaara, Shikamaru and Neji
Naruto and several of his clones were clashing with Kimmimaru; Naruto and his clones were using their trench knives to fight Kimmimaru who in turn was swatting them away with little difficulty.
Naruto slashed at Kimmimaru who brought up his bone sword to parry the knife to the side; Kimmimaru was about to stab Naruto but Naruto dodged narrowly as he was cut across the chest ripping his jacket.
Naruto rolled out of the way as his 3 remaining clones closed in to kill Kimmimaru; all the clones jumped up to pounce of Kimmimaru who just stood there. As the clones came down Kimmimaru began to grow bone spikes all over his body piercing the clones and dispelling them; Kimmimaru was then forced to dodge a wave of sand as Gaara launched attacks at Kimmimaru.
Gaara was using his sand to keep Kimmimaru off balance and keep him from re-engaging Naruto; Kimmimaru was hopping around in a effort to now get crushed by the roving sand. As he landed he felt his body freeze in place; Shikamaru who was standing a good distance away was finally able to use his shadow possession jutsu to snare Kimmimaru.
"Neji now" Shikamaru shouted; Neji was coming up behind Kimmimaru with his hands alive with chakra.
"Eight trigrams; 2 palms" Neji said as he struck Kimmimaru twice in the back "4 p- ahh" Neji shouted as his left hand was ran threw with a bone from Kimmimaru's back; Neji pulled his hand free seeing his ring and pinky finger hanging off his hand barely attached.
Kimmimaru's curse mark began to spread as it covered half his body; Kimmimaru began to turn resisting Shikamaru's technique "Neji gets back" Shikamaru shouted. Kimmimaru now free spun around to decapitate Neji.
Neji spun around creating a dome of chakra around him "Rotation" Neji shouted; the bone sword contacted the dome and was bounced back. Neji now slowing down jumped away and landed next to Shikamru; Neji took out a roll of bandages and began to wrap his hand to keep his fingers from falling off.
"How's the hand" Shikamaru said getting up and taking out a kunai.
"My fingers were nearly taken off" Neji growled out "I'm glad I'm right-handed" he said as he glared at the bone wielder. "He is quite the adversary" Neji said and Shikamaru nodded.
"I can't possess him, you can't touch him, Naruto can't cut him and Gaara can't catch him" Shikamaru said "what a drag" Shikamaru said.
Kimmimaru looked at the 4 boys who were trying to formulate a plan while he grabbed another bone sword to duel wield; as he did ne noticed the 2 coffins now smoking violently 'almost time' Kimmimaru thought. 'Just a little longer' he thought as he got into his fighting stance.
With Ino and Inoichi
Inoichi slashed at Kabuto with his kunai and Kabuto ducked out of the way; Kabuto slashed at Inoichi with his chakra scalpels aiming first for Inoichi's stomach. Inoichi moved as the blade narrowly missed him but Kabito followed up by slicing Inoichi on his leg.
Inoichi stumbled from the slash and was about to be hit again until Kabuto had to dodge a hail of kunai; Ino who was standing on a tree threw another volley at Kabuto before hopping from tree to three following him and keeping him moving.
When Kabuto was a decent distance away Ino jumped down and landed next to her father "Daddy are you ok" Ino asked and Inoichi nodded.
"Yeah" Inoichi said holding onto his leg wound "little shit missed the artery and the bleeding isn't too bad; I should be fine" he said. Ino looked over to the smirking Kabuto and spoke.
"You gonna pay for that dick head" Ino shouted and Kabuto chuckled.
"And what is a useless Kunoichi like you going to do" Kabuto mocked; Ino proceeded to make a hand sign and create 2 shadow clones.
"Kick that smirk off your fucking face" Ino shouted as she ran up before Inoichi could stop her; Ino and her clones spread out and began to go through hand signs "Water style: Water bullets" Ino and her clones began to shoot out water bullets from their mouth and Kabuto dodged the attacks.
Ino began to get closer when Kabuto got into a stance 'foolish girl' Kabuto thought; Kabuto slashed at Ino but his hand went right through her 'what' he thought. Kabuto was then hit in the back by 3 shuriken making him lose his balance; Kabuto turned around and say Ino coming down from a tree above.
"Surprise" Ino shouted; Ino kicked Kabuto across the face sending him to the ground. Ino brought up her foot again to stomp on Kabuto but Kabuto jumped away; Kabuto landed and took off his now shattered glasses and glared at Ino.
Ino smirked that her plan worked; while she was in the tree's she made a shadow clone that hid. Her real clone made a clone of itself and a academy clone which was just a mirage; when Kabuto was distracted she launched an attack catching him off guard.
Inoichi looked on in surprise as he did not expect Ino to come up with such a plan 'Ino; how much have you grown' he thought.
"You'll pay for that" Kabuto said standing back up "how about I kill your daddy here and I take you back to Oto; I've never experimented on a Yamanaka before" he said.
"Bring it bitch" Ino said as she and her father got ready to fight once more.
With Naruto and his group
Naruto ducked under Kimmimaru's sword as it passed over his head; Naruto slashed Kimmimaru across the stomach drawing out a little blood before hitting bone. Kimmimaru threw a kick at Naruto bringing out his toe bones to use as a knife; Kimmimaru kicked Naruto in the stomach stabbing him and sending him skidding across the dirt.
"Gah, you dick" Naruto shouted as he held his wound that was already healing; Naruto sat up to see Gaara trying to once again catch Kimmimaru who was avoiding his sand 'this guy is a serious pain in the ass' Naruto thought.
Suddenly he and everyone else it the clearing began to hear banging; everyone turned and saw it was both of the coffins.
'Finally,' Kimmimaru thought; he picked up both coffins throwing Sasuke's off to the right and Mamushi's off to the left. As they hit the ground both exploded in a cloud of purple smoke; Sasuke was standing as everyone saw his hair receding and he looked completely normal while Mamushi was kneeling before getting back up.
"Sasuke, Mamushi" Naruto shouted; Sasuke turned around and looked at Naruto.
"Naruto; you're here" Sasuke said; Sasuke turned to Mamushi "Mamushi; we're out, lets go" he said. Mamushi slowly turned to him and Sasuke saw something that made his heart stop; Mamushi was crying.
"I'm sorry Sasuke" Mamushi said in a whimper; she began to run off to the North "I'm so sorry; leave me alone" Mamushi shouted.
"Mamushi! Get back here" Sasuke shouted as he ran off after her.
"Goddamnit" Naruto shouted; Shikamaru looked at Naruto.
"Naruto; you and Gaara go and get them, me and Neji will stay here and hold this guy off" Shikamaru said; Naruto was about to protest until he saw Kimmimaru rush towards him.
"You will not pass" Kimmimaru stated; as he neared Kimmimaru was hit by a powerful wind jutsu and everyone looked in surprise.
"What are you 2 doing here" Gaara said; Temari wielding her fan and Kankuro wielding his puppet stood ready for battle.
"This is our parole hearing" Temari said; she and Kankuro were a lot skinnier than the last time he saw them "the hokage sent us to help; it was either this or jail" she said.
"Besides it's not like we can run away with these damn seals on out neck" Kankuro said showing an exploding seal "if we leave the country or veered off course it goes boom" he said as he readied his puppet.
"Now go already" Temari said and Naruto nodded.
"Gaara let book it" Naruto said as he and Gaara chased after Sasuke and Mamushi.
"So, what's the deal with this freak" Kankuro asked.
"He uses his bones as weapons" Shikamaru said "we need you 2 to hit him from long and midrange; while me and Neji hit him from up close" he said.
"Very well then" Temari said as she got ready 'please be safe' Temari thought.
With Ino and Inoichi
Both Yamanaka's were fighting Kabuto and were being held off; Kabuto was about to cut Ino but was stopped when Inoichi pushed her out of the way. Inoichi was hit instead when he got hit in the arm and then again in the ribs falling to the ground.
"Now die" Kabuto shouted as he was about to finish Inoichi off; Ino looked on in horror as her father was about to be killed. Before anything could happen, Ino heard a flute playing.
Kabuto neared Inoichi but was suddenly hit from the side by a club being wielded by an doki; Kabuto smacked into a tree and when he hit the ground, he heard a familiar flute melody 'wait is that- 'he thought when he head feet hit the ground.
"Hey there fuck face" Tayuya shouted as she rallied her 3 doki "you dickholes left me behind; so fuck you, fuck Orochimaru and fuck your stupid fucking face" she shouted as she walked up while playing her flute and controlling her doki.
Kabuto had to dodge as the claw wielding doki slashed at him hitting the tree he flew into; Kabuto began to run as the doki with the bound hands and walking backwards opened its mouth and released a multi-mouthed worm like creature.
Kabuto began to dodge the creature as it continued its assault; Kabuto ran up a tree only to see the club wielding doki above him. Kabuto jumped over the doki's club as he did a back flip off the tree; however, when doing so he saw Ino rushing up to meet him.
Ino punched Kabuto sending him to the forest floor; Kabuto tried to get up but was grabbed By Tayuya who was now in her final cure mark phase "sup' bitch" she said before kneeing Kabuto in the gut and hitting him with her flute.
Tayuya tried to hit him again but Kabuto grabbed her arm and punched her in the stomach; Kabuto tried to make another chakra scalpel but was stabbed in the back by Ino. Kabuto elbowed Ino in the face before jumping back and landing a few yards away.
'No good; I used up too much chakra' Kabuto thought as he saw a pissed Tayuya, an angry Ino and 3 doki ready for battle 'crap; I must withdraw' he thought. Kabuto went through hand signs and used the blood from his wound to hit the ground "later" he said before reverse summoning himself.
"Get back here you gutless shit" Tayuya shouted "Fuck… you good blondie" Tayuya said and Ino nodded.
"Daddy" Ino said in fear as she ran over to Inoichi "Daddy are you ok" she asked and Inoichi groaned.
"I've been better" Inoichi said.
"Hey blondie; continue with the mission" Tayuya said walking up "I'll take him back to tits in the village" she said referring to Tsunade.
"Wait how are you out of jail" Ino asked.
"Old man hokage and tits said if we help you assholes, we'll get parole" Tayuya said "it was either that or 10 years in jail; and frankly I prefer parole" Tayuya said. "Now go and help your team" Tayuya said and Ino nodded.
"Bye daddy" Ino said giving her father a kiss before running off 'Got to find Naruto' she thought running from tree to tree.
"Let's go buddy" Tayuya said picking up Inoichi 'babe you better be careful' she thought as she began her journey back to Konoha.
With Shikamaru, Neji, Temari and Kankuro
"Wind scythe jutsu" Temari shouted as she swung her fan at Kimmimaru; Kimmimaru in response put up his arms to cover his face and grew more bones out of his body. The wind jutsu hit Kimmimaru, the blades of wind cutting his skin and flesh but not cutting through his bone; Kimmimaru put his arms down and immediately had to dodge to the side as Kankuro's puppet descended on him.
Kimmimaru jumped to the side as the puppet began to chase him; Kankuro twisted his arms and moved his fingers strategically to activate his weapons. Blades came out of the puppets arms and the puppet began to spin around; Kimmimaru used his bone sword to stab the puppet stopping it from coming any closer.
Kankuro smirked at this as he activated another weapon; the puppet opened its mouth and let out a poison smoke bomb right in Kimmimaru's face. Kimmimaru jumped out of the cloud of poison smoke and began to gag and choke 'my lungs' he thought as he began to cough up blood 'I have to keep going' he thought as his curse mark began to go over his whole body.
Shikamaru looked on in horror as Kimmimaru transformed into a monstrous figure with his skin becoming darker and him growing a tail; to make it even worse Kimmimaru reached behind him and proceeded to pull out his spinal cord to use as a spear.
'Now his spine; what else can this freak do' Shikamaru thought; "Neji lets go" Shikamaru shouted as he and Neji both ran side by side at Kimmimaru. Both Shikamaru and Neji pulled out kunai with explosive tags on them and flanked Kimmimaru on either side; Shikamaru jumped up and threw 3 kunai at Kimmimaru.
Kimmimaru used his spine to hit the kunai causing them to veer off course ad land a few feet away before going off; however, Kimmimaru was hit from behind by 2 kunai from Neji. Kimmimaru turned around swiftly and swung his spine at Neji like a whip; Neji narrowly dodged it as it grazed the side of his head knocking off his head band and leaving a cut above his left eye.
Kimmimaru gained some distance and began to cough up blood as his vision began to become blurry 'it's nearly time' Kimmimaru thought 'I will not go down alone' he thought.
Kimmimaru knew his time was coming to an end so he decided to go out with one last attack; Kimmimaru slammed his hands into the ground and pillars of bones began to appear out of the ground. Everyone seeing the bones coming out of the ground all began trying to avoid the attack; when the bones approached Neji, he began to spin using the 'rotation' to shield himself from the bones.
Temari used her fan to sweep herself and Kankuro off the ground and into the air; Kankuro meanwhile used his chakra strings to lift Shikamaru off the ground. Shikamaru was hanging in the air from Kankuro's chakra strings as he looked down to the destruction down below.
The large field of grass was now a forest of bones; Temari looked around for Neji to see if he was still alive. "Hey look" Temari shouted pointing down to the ground; Neji was standing in an 8-foot circle not affected by the bones.
"Take us down" Shikamaru said and Temari nodded; Temari landed herself, Kankuro and Shikamaru down where Neji was standing "you ok" Shikamaru said looking at Neji.
"Yeah, I'm fine just tired" Neji said while huffing.
"Do you see that guy anywhere" Temari asked as she looked around 'he could- "Temari began.
Behind Temari, Kimmimaru was appearing out of one of the bone pillars with a drill like lance coming out of his arm aiming it towards Temari's back; Shikamaru saw this and acted on instinct as he lunged forward.
Shikamaru pushed Temari out of the way of the attack just in time to save her; Kimmimaru plunged his lance into Shikamaru's chest piercing him through to the other side. Shikamaru coughed up blood as he grabbed onto the lance holding Kimmimaru in place.
"N-Neji" Shikamaru shouted as Neji rushed forward with his palm alive with chakra; Neji rushed forward and before Kimmimaru could react hit him in the dead center of the forehead. Kimmimaru's brain hemorrhaged as he began to bleed out his eyes, ears, mouth and nose all at once; a few seconds, he slumped forwards dead.
Shikamaru let go of the lance in his chest and fell backwards onto the ground; clutching his wound.
Shikamaru POV
Shikamaru was looking up at the sky as his chest began to feel cold and his eyes became heavy 'I-I guess this is it' Shikamaru thought as the clouds floated above him 'at least I saved that girl' he thought.
"Hey Shika" came a voice he hasn't heard in a long while; Choji who was standing above him was looking down with a smile "whatcha doing; staring at clouds again" he said.
Shikamaru seeing his friend again smiled with blood leaking out the side of his mouth "Yeah; it's… great" he said weakly.
"Mind if I join you" Choji asked and Shikamaru nodded.
"Of course, buddy" Shikamaru said and Choji laid down next to him; Shikamaru continued to look up into the sky as his eyelids grew heavy 'I-I think I'll rest for a little bit' he thought.
With Neji, Temari and Kankuro
"Damn it no" Temari shouted as she pressed a bandage against Shikamaru's wound "why did you do that; why the hell did you take the hit" Temari shouted at Shikamaru. Shikamaru had his eyes closed with a small smile on his face "CPR, we gotta to do CPR" Temari shouted as she began to do chest compressions on Shikamaru.
"Temari" Kankuro said trying to stop his sister.
"We got to get his heart started again, we got to get him breathing, we- "Temari began until Kankuro grabbed her and held her.
"Damn it he doesn't have a heart left" Kankuro shouted to his sister; Kankuro's face became solemn "he's dead Temari" he said and Temari began to cry.
"Why would he do that; he didn't even know me" Temari sobbed out as Kankuro held her as she cried into his shoulder.
Neji looked down at his dead comrade with a face devoid of emotion 'sacrificing your life to save another; a fitting end for an exceptional shinobi' Neji thought; Neji bent over and threw Shikamaru's dead body over his shoulder "lets head back to Konoha; so, we can put him to rest" Neji thought.
Kankuro and a still crying Temari nodded as they left the forest of bones with Neji to take Shikamaru's body home.
With Naruto and Gaara
Naruto and Gaara were running through the forest still on the trail of Sasuke and Mamushi; as they continued running Gaara saw a break in the tree line.
"Up ahead" Gaara said and Naruto nodded; as they broke through the tree line, they arrived in a valley with a river running in between. There were 2 statues on either side of the water fall where the river began and on the first statue there was Sasuke trying to calm down Mamushi.
"Mamushi please calm down; we can help you" Sasuke said trying to calm her; Mamushi was walking around in circles fidgeting.
"No, no ,no ,no; you all hate me now" Mamushi said as she grabbed her head; Naruto and Gaara both ran up and Naruto spoke.
"Mamushi it wasn't you who did those things to Sakura and the others" Naruto said as Gaara and Sasuke both looked at him in surprise "we only want to help you" he said. "Please we are all worried about you, lets go home" he said; Mamushi stopped for a quick second and twitched.
"Do…do you mean that" Mamushi said turning around.
"Yeah" Sasuke said slowly walking forward to Mamushi with his hand outstretched "Mamushi please" he said as he got closer. Mamushi reached out her hand to grab Sasuke's; only for her hand to be hit by a kunai and it go through her palm.
Gaara used one of Naruto's kunai to hit Mamushi's hand to stop her; Mamushi's expression changed as she looked at Gaara.
"How did you know" Mamushi said towards Gaara.
"Mamushi's eyes don't look that cold" Gaara said and Mamushi began to chuckle as Sasuke backed up.
"She was being annoying so I put her in time out" Mamushi said and Sasuke looked at Naruto.
"What is this" Sasuke said.
"Orochimaru implanted this personality inside of Mamushi" Naruto said "this person is responsible for murdering Sakura and a few other people in the village; she's a parasite" Naruto said shocking Sasuke.
Mamushi chuckled as she heard the explanation "I'm what she always could've been; a perfect shinobi, no morals, no mercy and no attachments" Mamushi said "it sickened me to see everything she did from behind her cowardly eyes; her living with you, her friendship with that girl… and her falling in love" she said as she looked over to Sasuke who was scowling. "We don't need you and we don't need saving" Mamushi said with an angry expression.
Naruto took out his trench knives and got into a stance "we're bringing Mamushi back with us no matter what" Naruto said.
Sasuke activated his sharingan and glared at Mamushi "I will save her; I won't lose anyone else" Sasuke said as he got into his taijutsu stance.
Gaara brought out his sand "you will not hurt my comrade" he said.
Mamushi chuckled as her curse mark ran across her body and her snake tattoos began to dance across her skin "what a bunch of delusional fools" she said "I will enjoy hearing her scream in agony as I rip apart 3 of the people she cherishes" she said with a smirk. Mamushi got into a fighting stance as her snake tattoo's detached and acted like tendrils "lets dance shall we" she said.
