I'm excited to announce the collaboration of one of my favorite Pokémon movies. I will tell you right now that we are talking about Troy's journey. It's not as easy as you think. We've got to sort some things about a few of the characters. I am collaborating with the writer who adopted my OCs: LEGAL-EAGLE53/QUEENSPELLER67.

We've agreed to do a character guide and we're not listing the movie characters because that's obvious. Also, because the rewrite of the anime (featuring Troy) is in the works (and I haven't forgotten that. I just finished my Digimon story, Free As A Bird), the attire hasn't changed for the characters. Not in the Orange Islands, anyway. We have the characters and their ages.

Queen/Legal: Troy's journey (the one he goes on before he meets Ash) will be on my profile. The anime rewrite (at least the Kanto episodes) will be on MDL96's profile.

MDL96: I will be bringing back the Kanto journey story that I had deleted before. I had a little trouble figuring out the appropriate way to continue on with it but me and Queen will work together on that.

Character guide:

Ash Ketchum (age: 11)

Misty Waterflower (age: 11)

Troy Black (age: 19)

Tracey Sketchit (age: 15)

Expect some major changes as we rewrite each of the movies up until the Sinnoh saga. For now, enjoy our retelling of the Power of One.

Deep in the heart of the Orange Archipelago, surrounding the island of Shamouti, are the three legendary islands that are home to the three great birds: Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. The three islands, named after the type that is associated with each bird, were said to be the meeting place of the world's ocean currents. Each legendary bird acted as a counteraction to the other, maintaining harmony and balance in the world.

But should that harmony be disturbed, the results would be catastrophic for the entire world.

Disturb not the harmony of fire, ice, or lightning

Lest these titans reek destruction upon the world in which they clash

Though the water's great guardian will arise to quell the fighting, alone its song will fail

Thus the earth shall turn to ash.

O Chosen One, into thine hands bring together all three

Their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea.

"Now it begins," a male voice muttered.

The face of the man belonging to the voice curved his mouth in an amused smile, like he would enjoy what was about to happen.

The man's name was Lawrence. Lawrence III, after his father and grandfather. Lawrence was a man of quality and taste, having devoted his entire life's work to capturing and collecting rare Pokémon. Due to this obsession, he had amassed a great deal of wealth and was currently standing in his ship over the Orange Islands, on his way to the Shamouti area.

From first glance, Lawrence was like a charming, articulate man with an easy smile, soft eyes, and dark blonde hair that looked almost green and an earring lying in each ear. Beneath this charming demeanor, however, was a ruthless, driven man who would stop at nothing to achieve whatever goal was in front of him. Ever since he collected his first Pokémon card of a Mew, Lawrence made it his mission to collect as many rare Pokémon as he could. While he certainly had quite a collection, he felt as though it would be incomplete without the titans of fire, ice, and lightning, but especially the beast of the sea. That was the prize he sought most of all.

As he read the tablet underneath the glass case in front of him with the famed Chosen One prophecy, an alarm went off. He snapped out of his thoughts in curiosity, wondering what could have caused the alarm to go off.

"Analysis indicates that the titan of fire referred to in the ancient inscription is the legendary Pokémon Moltres, believed to have originated in a remote region of the Orange Islands," a female computer voice said. Holograms of the three birds were shown as it described them. "The titan of lightning is the Pokémon, Zapdos, and Articuno is the titan of ice. Historical documents confirm that the three legendary Pokémon are unique species found in the vicinity of Shamouti Island."

Lawrence swiftly moved towards the chair in the center of the room and sat down. A map of the Shamouti Island area was displayed on the computer screen in front of him, highlighting the three surrounding islands in the respective color of the legendary Pokémon associated with the island. Fire Island was red, Lightning Island, yellow, and Ice Island was blue. Either of the three birds would make a fine addition to his collection but he had bigger fish to fry.

He moved a switch on the armrest upward, causing the chair to rise up into the ceiling, painted like the Sistine Chapel, and into the observation area of his ship.

"Which one is nearest?" he asked his computer.

"The fire Pokémon, Moltres," it replied.

Looking out the grand windows, he could see the clear blue skies, sunshine, the miles and miles of ocean, and especially the islands that housed his targets. A chessboard was now displayed on the computer screen this time, showing Moltres where the king would usually be in a real game of chess.

Lawrence chuckled. "The chase is on."

At the bottom of the ship, shots were fired from the guns. The shots immediately froze upon impact on the ground, making the island start to look like an iceberg. Underneath all of the ice, a flash of red made its presence known. Flame burst out of a cave and a flash of cream and red flew out of it. It is Moltres, the legendary fire Pokémon whose flame was used to light the Pokémon League torch.

Lawrence smiled as the Pokémon flew towards the ship. He continued firing blasts to occupy Moltres. It dodged many blasts but was hit by a couple of them as well.

Once he felt Moltres was weakened, Lawrence flipped a switch that opened the underbelly of the ship. Dark rings flew out of it towards the legendary Pokémon. The bird dodged the initial wave, but was unable to dodge them all and was quickly captured. With their mission accomplished, the rings returned to the underbelly of the ship.

Lawrence smiled in accomplishment. Moltres now belonged to him. On the digital chessboard, the representation of Moltres disappeared. Representations of Zapdos and Articuno then popped up on the board.

"Bring together all three," he said to himself as a black piece came up. His smile grew even more. "Their treasures combined tame the beast of the sea…Lugia."

On a bright, clear day, our heroes were navigating the Orange Islands by boat on their journey through the archipelago. Pikachu sat out on the metal railing of the bow, looking out at the miles of ocean that stretched as far as the eye could see. Behind him, a Lucario was meditating on the floor. Lucario breathed quietly as the balmy breezes blew against it and the ocean waves crashed against the side of the boat.

In front of the galley window sat Pokémon watcher, and new member of Ash's travel team, Tracey Sketchit. Tracey was sketching something in a notebook, possibly Pikachu and Lucario. As a Pokémon watcher, Tracey observed Pokémon and even sketches them in their natural environment. He was a quiet and reserved young man of fifteen, long dark green hair with a red sweatband around his forehead, a shirt of an equal shade of green, red cargo pants, and blue shoes. His eyes were a light brown and emit the quiet kindness that suited his personality.

At the back of the boat was the rest of Team Ketchum. The fiery, red-haired former gym leader of Cerulean City, Misty, who was looking out at the sea with a Togepi in her arms. Beside her was the leader of the group himself, Ash Ketchum, aspiring Pokémon Master. He also stared at the open sea after having woke up from a short nap a short time ago. He stretched his arms as he let out a yawn.

"It's a nice day," he said.

"It sure is beautiful," replied Misty as she turns to the Pokémon in her arms. "Right, Togepi?"

Togepi replied back happily.

Light snoring could be heard from behind them. Ash turned to see the other member of their group, his mentor and former Kanto champion, Troy Black, still sleeping. Troy's long dark brown hair was sprawled across a makeshift pillow made from a pile of rope. His muscled, fully tattooed arms were on full display in the sunlight due to the black tank top he wore. He also had tan capris and grey Vans sneakers on. A necklace with a symbol wrapped around his neck and he had a silver wristwatch on his left wrist.

Ash gently kicked Troy's shoe to try and wake him up.

"Troy, wake up," he said.

"Five more minutes, Mom," Troy moaned as he moved to his other side.

He ended up falling off the rope and hitting his head on the hard ground of the boat. He let out an "Ow" in pain before sitting up and opening his eyes, which were a forest green. He gave Ash a dirty look that said "How dare you interrupt my nap" while Misty giggled at his misfortune.

"Are we at the next island already?" he asked, clearly thinking that was the reason why he was awoken. Troy shook his head free of the metaphorical cobwebs in his head from the long nap as he sat up.

"Not quite," Ash replied, shaking his head. "We will be soon though so I wanted to wake you up."

Upon hearing that explanation, Troy laid his head back down on the rope.

"Then I'm going back to sleep," he grumbled, turning away from them and closing his eyes.

Ash looked at Misty with a mischievous smirk. She nodded and took out her Staryu's Poké Ball, releasing the starfish Pokémon quietly.

"Staryu, use Water Gun on Troy," she whispered, giggling slightly.

Ash also cracked a grin, knowing that this was going to be funny. And Troy always got on him for not being ready to go at a moment's notice.

Staryu did as commanded and blasted the stream of water towards Troy. He woke up almost immediately and cried for Misty to stop the attack as he was drenched with water.

"Alright, I'm up! I'm up!" he cried. "Stop!"

Misty laughed out loud, as did Ash. That worked every time.

"Okay, Staryu. That's enough." Misty returned Staryu it to its Poké Ball.

Troy stood up and glared at the two of them, water dripping from his hair and creating a dark spot on his clothing that looked like he had jumped into the water – which would have most likely been plan B if Troy had slept through Staryu's Water Gun. For a second, Ash was worried he would do just that to him instead.

Instead, the oldest member of the group put his arms down on the side railing of the boat and looked out at the ocean with them. The scowl never left his face, but Ash was happy he wouldn't face any retribution. For now, he would take whatever peace he could get.

Troy chuckled. "I'm getting old, kids. I need my naps otherwise I get cranky."

"Oh stop it," Misty chuckled, laying a hand on his broad shoulder. "You're only nineteen. You're not old."

"I'm older than you kids are." Even through his annoyance, a smile worked its way onto his handsome face. The three of them looked to see Tracey join them.

"Hey, Ash," he said. "Do you think we have enough time to give the Pokémon some fresh air?"

"Sure, Tracey," a female voice above them replied before Ash could say anything.

They all turned to look at Maren, the boat's navigator. She was a beautiful young woman with green hair that stuck out the front of her black backwards hat. She wore an orange and blue jacket, pants and a red t-shirt underneath.

"It'll take about an hour to get to the next island," she explained. "There's plenty of time."

Hearing this, Ash immediately plucked a Poké Ball off of his belt and enlarged it with enthusiasm.

"Well, what are we waiting for?" he exclaimed before throwing it into the air.

Soon after, all the other Pokémon were either on the boat or in the sea. Ash wanted to bring out Charizard and Snorlax, but they were too heavy for the boat so they had to be called back.

All four trainers sat back and relaxed as they and their Pokémon enjoyed the sun. Ash looked around to watch some of the activity going on.

Troy's Gengar was brought out and immediately started doing everything to disrupt Lucario's meditation, including trying to scare it and poke it in the side. Lucario did everything in its power not to strangle the ghost Pokémon, even with a nerve bulging in its temple. Ash could see its anger was quickly rising. His Squirtle even got in on the action by lightly "squirting" Lucario's face.

Lucario growled at the offending turtle before settling back into meditation.

Gengar's natural mischievous grin widened at Squirtle, nodding approvingly for the turtle to keep doing it. Squirtle flashed a thumbs up and this time let loose a full-fledged Water Gun at Lucario. They both doubled over in laughter at their handiwork, ending up on their backs. Tears flowed freely out of their eyes. Even Ash had to admit it was funny.

A growl interrupted their laughter. Ash saw Lucario's face was now completely red, despite the jackal's black and blue face. Its red eyes were almost blood red now and its paws were clenched in fists. Lucario's sharp canine teeth were bared now as well.

Gengar cried out in fear as it and Squirtle ran to the back of the ship with Lucario tailing right behind them. The ghost disappeared to try and escape Lucario's wrath. Squirtle looked around helplessly, realizing that it was alone now. Lucario rounded the corner and moved in for the kill.

Just as Ash was about to call the turtle back to its Poké Ball, Troy came to Squirtle's rescue by stepping in front of Lucario.

"Lucario, that's enough," he said sternly. "Go back and meditate. They're just having fun."

Lucario said something, but Ash couldn't quite make out what it was. Luckily, Troy seemed to understand as his stern expression didn't change.

"I don't want to hear it, Lucario. Meditate, now."

Cursing under his breath, Lucario went back to the bow of the ship so it could sit down and meditate again. It moved past Tracey's Marill, Venonat, and Scyther, who were enjoying the nice weather too. Tracey had gone back to sit there as well.

Ash turned to Troy with a smile. "Thanks for that," he said.

The older male shrugged. "We've got to find a way to keep Gengar and Squirtle apart. Those two are a bad influence on each other, I'm telling you."

Ash nodded. "I agree."

Troy opened his mouth to say something else when a violent jerk rocked the entire ship. Ash put his hands out against the railing to stop him from going overboard. Troy did as well. That was so unexpected. Before Ash could recover his footing, another wave crashed against the ship with the force of a truck.

"What the heck is going on?" he shouted, calling back his sea Pokémon.

"Everyone grab onto something!" Maren cried from above them. "It's going to be rough."

Ash resumed his place bracing himself against the railing. Seconds felt like hours as the sea rocked the boat back and forth like a bath toy. The sky had turned dark now, making Ash worry that it might rain as well. As if they needed something else to – Whoa! He shouldn't finish that thought. If he did, that would give the gods all the fuel they needed to make something go bad.

Ash looked out and saw that the boat was being pushed away from the island where they were supposed to be heading towards. Great, now they were going to be stranded out in the middle of the ocean. They had gotten lost so many times on this journey through the Orange Islands that he was worried he'd run out of time to qualify for the Orange League.

Wait, that's what he was prioritizing right now? That thought quickly went away from his mind as he focused on riding out this rough weather.

After a few more agonizing and tense minutes, the sea finally calmed down. Ash slid down to a seating position on the floor, taking several deep breaths to calm himself. The sound of someone throwing up reached his ears. He looked up and saw Troy bent over the railing looking a little green around the gills.

"I hate boats," Troy moaned, seemingly done expelling the contents of his stomach.

As things settled down, Ash wondered where they were now. Were they headed to open sea now? He looked up at Maren to ask her, but it seemed she read his mind.

"We're way off course," she said.

"What do you mean we're off course?" Troy asked.

Maren pointed somewhere up ahead. Ash followed her finger and saw a large island emerge from the mist like something out of a movie. He sighed in relief. Safety was just a little while away.

"That's Shamouti," Maren explained. "We're right in the middle of the Orange Islands."

Guided by a large school of Magikarp, the boat made its way into the bay of Shamouti Island, where adventure seemed to be calling them.
