I thought about doing this for a long time since someone brought it up in one of the reviews from one of my earlier stories. I do love the overall concept and characters in RWY, then did thought what kind of OC would fit in the world of Remnant. After thinking about the characters for a while, I found that these four stuck out the most for me.
Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY or its characters, which rightfully belong to Monty Oum of Rooster Teeth Productions who gave us this wondering series. All that I own are the OCs that appear.
Prologue
Here in the world of Remnant, there existed several stories and legends that spread across time, which are still told to the current generation to inspire them to craft their own stories. It is most notable among the current group of applicants who seeks to enroll in the Huntsman Academies and fulfill their desires.
Riding down the dirt road through a forest was a simple blue truck with wooden railings that has multiple produce packed into cardboard boxes or wooden crates. In the front seat was a couple, both of them middle-aged but still in their physical prime and Faunus. Both were the easiest to distinguish had animal ears, the man having horse ears and the woman having sheep ears. The couple relished the peace as the wind pleasantly blew in their direction.
"How're you doing back there, Daniel," the man questioned in a lighthearted tone.
"I feel great thanks for the apples and water," Daniel replied sounding refreshed after eating the ripe apple inside his hands enjoying the taste. "I ran out of the food that I packed and didn't think that I'd arrive at Argus on time."
Sitting in the back of the back was a black-haired seventeen-year-old whose fringe covered parts of his forehead and silver eyes that seemed to shine in the sunlight. His clothes consist of a dark blue shirt that seemed to fit his build, black pants, a belt that has a buckle with had an emblem depicting three stylized linked triangles, including a pouch attached to the left side on his belt; holstered on the right side was a unique custom-made pistol.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that. We take a great deal of pride in our fresh produce."
The woman declared in a pride-filled tone as Daniel tossed the eaten apple inside of the forested area before he drank from the canteen filled with fresh water.
"I hope that I'm not imposing by taking some of your produce."
He sounded concerned knowing some people experience some financial difficulties in some areas, which meant that selling food like this would be something of a lifeline for them. But, his concerns were waved off by the man sitting in the driver's seat.
"That's fine, we tend to have too much produce near the end of the day either way," he added appreciatively. "We were forced to delay making deliveries to Argus due to all the reports about bandits and Grimm that roamed around the area. I can handle myself fine alone, but I didn't want to put Rachel in any danger. If it wasn't for you then I might've lost my wife due to those bandits."
Daniel recalled his initial encounter with them and found the man fighting against the bandits, but was blindsided as one of them held his wife hostage. Despite being starving, he could at least sneak up behind the bandit to knock him out before he could harm Rachel. After that, the man could handle himself fine against the others, but all the bandits retreated with their allies.
"And Joseph here isn't that same active huntsman anymore."
"I'm not that old yet."
Rachel laughed lightly at the face that Joseph was making as he paid attention to the road in front of him while groaning as Daniel joined in.
"So, Daniel have you been to Argus before?"
"Yea, once or twice for some personal business there."
Daniel replied as he stared forward toward the road in front of them and could see their destination before them.
It was an enormous thick stone wall measuring several stories high, which bordered Argus with Atlesian soldiers armed and posted on the wall. As the blue truck road toward the entrance, Daniel could hear a commotion inside of Argus but it sounded almost like cheers instead of panicked screams.
"I wonder what's going on inside there?"
Before long, the truck stop in front of the entrance where a Mistral Huntsman stopped the truck before stepping in front of the driver's seat. Instead of asking for the reason he was there, the huntsman instead smiled at him as if he instantly realized who the truck belonged to.
"Mister Kheiron. It has been a long time since I last saw you here."
"I apologize for that. I didn't have the chance to drive here due to the certain obstacles leading toward Argus."
"No matter, it's good to see you're still in great health," the Mistral Huntsman said before he noticed Daniel sitting in the back. "Who's this?"
"Oh, this is Daniel, one of the candidates heading off to Beacon. He helped us on the way here after running into a group of bandits."
After noticing that name for a moment, the huntsman reached into his pocket and pulled out a handheld device that displayed a list of people before going to one of them.
"Ah, that's why that name seemed familiar. Alright, you're clear to enter Argus," the huntsman said before shaking his head. "Some other students who attended Sanctum heading off to attend Beacon instead of Haven including our little Golden Girl."
"Is that so?"
Hearing mention of this 'Golden Girl', Joseph seemed almost proud for some reason for being allowed to drive off into Argus by the huntsman who moved aside. Their blue truck soon drove into Argus, revealing the cobblestone streets and multiple brick houses including a lot of streetcars. However, the first thing that Daniel had noticed was the large crowd of people that seemed to be gathered someplace.
"Is there a festival or something?"
"No, if I had to guess then I believe that people are celebrating Pyrrha's departure to Beacon Academy?"
"Pyrrha," Daniel thought as he recalled hearing that name once. "I think I've heard that name before?"
"I'm sure that almost everyone in Mistral knows her," Joseph said sounding prideful. "Before I retired from being a huntsman, I was also a teacher at Sanctum during the time she started her first year. Pyrrha was the definition of a genius able to excel at anything that we taught her. More than anything, she was the kindest person that you'd ever meet. I was proud to watch the matches that she fought in during the Mistral Region Tournament."
Hearing that explanation from Joseph had stirred Daniel's interest in meeting Pyrrha in person.
"It was rare seeing someone her age being that generous," Rachel said laughing. "I recall Joseph cheering like a helicopter parent as he watched the match almost like she was his daughter."
In response to being teased by his wife again, Joseph sighed again before stopping the car near a sidewalk then turned toward the back.
"Daniel, I think that it might be best if we part ways here," Rachael had informed Daniel. "Our destination is in the opposite direction."
"I understand, thanks for the ride."
Daniel had jumped from off the back of the blue truck landed on his feet before stretching his arms and legs after the long ride leading to Argus. Joseph rolled down the window as he glanced toward the black-haired young man who had hitched a ride and sent him a smile.
"I wish you well during the initiation into Beacon."
"Thanks," Daniel replied as he reached his hand at the back of the truck grabbing onto something while adorning a confident smirk. "I didn't spend the last couple of years living and training with Remnant's worst foster father to not do anything but pass."
The moment those words left his mouth, Daniel pulled out what seemed to be a tailored black coat, which has several blue outlines running across it and the same emblem, which depict the same three-linked triangle on the back. After seeing that he was finished with his preparations, he had turned back to the generous couple who gave him a free ride and food.
"I hope to see you guys again."
"Same here. And if you end up meeting Pyrrha tell her that her old teacher said hello," Joseph said as he laughed a little. "She'll be the friendly and quirky redhead."
Those were the last words that he heard from Joseph as both he and his wife drove off in the opposite direction with Daniel waving his hand. Through, in response to those words, Daniel had a wry expression on his face.
"Well, that's an odd description to give someone you called your best student."
Daniel muttered as he started heading in the direction of the departing Sanctum students as he could see a red-haired girl waving her hand toward the people before entering the airship.
It was difficult for him to weave through the numerous crowd of cheering people gathered around him, but Daniel managed to make it through them ignoring some comments from some complaining men. Having made it in front of the mistral airships, an airship that more resembled a boat made using wood and metal, in addition to wings, a spar, sailing mast, and propeller; with the Mistral emblem on the mast.
"Well, this is the first step that leads to Vale."
Daniel mumbled as he joined the departing students, wondering if the people would notice that he wasn't one of their Sanctum students. But, he managed to step onto the mistral airship without issues where there was, in fact, a small number of students aboard; meaning that all the others chose to attend Haven. Although, for the students who were onboard the airship a lot of them stared toward Daniel.
'Uh, who is this?'
'I don't know. Was he a student at Sanctum?'
'He should be…or else, they wouldn't have allowed him on board.'
Those were some of the comments that he heard from the students, which he could understand.
"Of course, the students here would realize that my being here was odd."
He soon noted as the airship started to ascend into the air meaning that all of them would be making their way towards Vale. Having noticed that the airship was taking off, Daniel had leaned against the wall staring out as the airship was ascending higher and higher into the air. Soon enough, the cheers from the citizens of Argus started to become fainter and fainter by the moment.
"Hello~"
As Daniel continued to stare out at the clouds, a cheerful voice called out to him catching his attention.
He turned his head to see a red-haired girl his age whose ponytail reached her waist, green eyes with light-green eyeshadow around the corners of them; she was rather tall with a muscular build compared to most girls that he had ever met before.
Her clothes consisted of a brown overbust with a light brown vertical center, an elastic black A-line miniskirt, a red ankle-length sash around her waist, brown opera length gloves; a small bronze plate on her right hip with a spear across a shield on it, a brown circlet underneath her hair with a pair of small tear-shaped emerald on thin chains, a bronze gorget, a bracelet around her upper left arm, and a bracer under it; elaborate cuisses placed at her mid-thigh, greaves, and boots. A bronze shield and spear seemed to be on her back as well.
Daniel stared at the redhead who stared back at him with kindness and cheerfulness radiating from her, which caused him to feel a little complicated.
"Hi."
He replied a little nervous not knowing how else to respond as he didn't expect such a positive greeting at all from someone aboard the ship.
"I'm sorry if I'm bothering you, but I don't believe that I recall seeing you at Sanctum."
"Ah, that's because I didn't attend Sanctum," Daniel answered her confusion as he glanced to the side. "I haven't attended a combat school and trained with my foster father instead."
"I see," she said interested after hearing that and directed her hand toward him. "Well, my name is Pyrrha Nikos."
"My name is Daniel Norden," Daniel replied extending his hand out and shaking her hand. "I heard about you from a Faunus named Joseph Kheiron."
Having heard that name Pyrrha paused for a moment before she smiled widened and her eyes seem to sparkle.
"Ah, you met Mister Kheiron?! How has he been?!"
Daniel laughed a little bit about the sudden rise in cheerfulness from the redhead in front of him, then he started to explain about his encounter with Joseph and Rachel.
"I'm glad to hear that they're both doing alright. I recall all of the times that Mister Kheiron would lecture the first-year students of all the dangers of becoming Huntsmen before starting training. There were times when he brought a lot of the fruits that Mrs. Kheiron grew. I was sad when he decided to retire from being a teacher and a huntsman, but I could understand that he couldn't continue going on forever."
"Well, the entire description of Pyrrha was correct," Daniel thought wearing a slight smile on his face. "I could see why Joseph would be proud to call her one of his students."
"Wait, I need to introduce you to someone else who was also a student of his," Pyrrha said as she looked toward one of the students who was sitting down on the ground. "Hunter, could you come here for a second?"
In response to hearing their name, the person stood up then walked toward them appearing a little nervous about meeting someone else.
In front of them was a seventeen-year-old curly brown-haired male around the same height as Daniel with forest green eyes; the most notable features were the deer antlers representing his status as a Faunus. His clothes had consisted of a green high-collared tunic which also has a mix of light green and gold, white pants, brown combat boots, darker archer's gloves on his right arm; a dark green armored chest guard with a gold stag emblem, and also a pair of green and gold bracers and greaves. On his back was what seemed to be a collapsed mechanized dark green bow with gold accents, in addition to a quiver.
Though instead of talking, Hunter did a bunch of signs using his hands, which Daniel did find weird for a second, but soon realized what it meant.
"This is Daniel Norden," Pyrrha read the signs he made introducing Daniel. "Daniel's hitching a ride with all of us to Beacon. And guess what, he met our old teacher."
Seeming happy after hearing that, Hunter performing a different set of signs, which Daniel could tell expressed joy just by the motions of his hands.
"Yes, he's doing well. Though, I wished that we could've seen him before leaving," Pyrrha stated sound a little sad after those words left her mouth. "Oh, where are my manners. Daniel this is Hunter Upson, a good friend of mine since we started taking classes together back at Sanctum."
"Hey, Hunter. Well, I'm sure you heard this already, but my name is Daniel."
Daniel introduced himself to Hunter officially, which caused the deer Faunus to perform a bunch of signs using his hands that Pyrrha interpreted.
"Hunter said, 'Hello, Daniel. I wish you well during the initiation at Beacon'."
"Thanks, same here."
Daniel smiled, but Hunter seemed to have become a little nervous then began going back to where he was sitting at first before being called over. After seeing that, Pyrrha laughed lightly before turning back to Daniel.
"I'm sorry about that," Pyrrha said. "Hunter can sometimes get a little nervous around newer people and he's a bit self-conscious about…."
"Not being able to talk," he surmised causing Pyrrha to nod her head in agreement. "Is he a mute?"
"Well, yes, but it's a past that I don't feel comfortable talking about without his consent first."
Daniel could see how Pyrrha was nervous and even became a little sad about mentioning it, which caused him to drop the entire thing altogether. Instead, both of them just took a seat knowing how long that it would take for them to arrive at Vale, and patiently waited for the airship to land.
From the moment that the students on the mistral airship departed from Argus to the time that it took, the sun had already set turning into dusk. As soon as the mistralian airship landed and all the Sanctum students + Daniel had landed in the coastal metropolis of the same name stretching their limbs due to the long trip. Having landed, all of them were then escorted toward a hotel where they would remain until tomorrow.
"Ngh, well that was longer than sitting at the back of a truck."
"By the way, Daniel will you be fine?"
"What're you talking about?"
"Well, since the arriving students who come from other schools wouldn't be provided rooms until their entries into Beacon. All of the schools would make arrangements so that the students could remain in a hotel until then," Pyrrha informed him sounding a little concerned. "But, since you're not a student at Sanctum."
Daniel was once again surprised about the concern that the redhead was showing toward someone that she had just met a couple of hours ago.
"You don't have to be worried about that. My aunt thought about that beforehand and made some prior arrangements in advance before when I started heading toward Argus."
Hearing that caused him relief from Pyrrha and a slight smirk from Daniel who continued to stretch out his arms, before turning toward her.
"Joseph did mention that you were a little bit quirky," Daniel joked causing Pyrrha to become a little abashed after imagining one of her favorite teachers thinking that about her. "But, that's no off-putting for anything. But, I do find it a little weird that you're being this nice to someone you just met."
"Why shouldn't I be? You don't give off the impression that you're anything but a good person."
Pyrrha honestly said wearing an equally honest smile on her face, which caused Daniel to smile in response.
"Well, I'd like some other people to think that too."
Daniel muttered as he started going off in another direction, causing Pyrrha to glance toward him confused about his sudden departure.
"Daniel, where are you going?"
"I thought that it would be a good idea to walk around for a little while, then go and find someplace to eat," Daniel replied. "I'm not all that into eating hotel food, but I'll be back before it gets too late. Don't want to be late for tomorrow, right?"
"Alright."
Once he said those words, Pyrrha went off with the other Sanctum students inside the hotel, while Daniel went in another direction for a walk. After being far enough from the hotel, he reached into his pockets pulling out a small slip of paper that seemed to have an address on it.
"Alright, let's get this first business over with before anything else gets started."
Following the directions written on the slip of paper, he found himself walking inside the Industrial District of Vale, where Daniel found an old-looking brick building with arched windows but the windows appeared newly replaced. But, he ignored that and continued forward until he ran into a large sliding door that opened in front of him, which revealed the inside of what appeared to be a club. But—
"Wow, it almost looks like some kind of fight occurred here."
Daniel scoped the entire place, noticing that the workers were repairing the entire floor, but he could tell a fight of some kind occurred in the center; several windows were broken but were being placed, and six pillars that seemed to be made from some kind of crystal was being replaced. He first believed that it was caused due to a small fight, but Daniel started to reevaluate his initial thought.
"Scratch that, it looked almost as if a bomb was dropped here."
"Hey, what're you doing here?!"
Before long, he noticed that there were some henchmen dressed in black business suits and red sunglasses with some oddly designed eyebrows. In some of their hands were red axes and firearms prepared to attack if required to attack, but Daniel remained calm.
"I'm here to see your boss," Daniel replied nonchalantly. "A guy named Hei Xiong or Junior. I wasn't able to confirm anything about the whole Junior thing before I came here."
"The boss doesn't have time to deal with another teenager waltzing in the club."
"So, what happened here? It looks almost as if there was a party that got too wild."
"Are you ignoring me?! I said leave!"
To make his point, one of the henchmen armed with a rifle stepped forward pointing it at his forehead, but Daniel maintained his composure unfazed. Realizing that there was no chance of talking them down, he turned his attention toward the rifle-wielding henchman. He moved to the side and hit the rifle in another direction at the same time before grabbing onto the barrel; pushing it forward hitting the henchmen in his face using the end causing him the grunt and snatch the rifle out of his hand.
"Argh!"
The henchmen let out a pained grunt as he moved backward, then another one wielding an axe stepped forward preparing to swing his axe before Daniel pulled out a white and silver pistol pointing it at him. Holding both rifles and the pistol at them, he looked toward the henchmen.
"I'm not trying to be rude since it is my first official trip to Vale, but I don't like weapons being pointed at me unless it's during training or an actual fight," Daniel said not sounding scared or panicked. "If you do want a fight, then I could introduce you to this little child in my hands since the oldest one isn't here at the moment."
Not backing down at all, the henchmen appeared prepared for the assault, most of them already preparing to pull the triggers on their weapons. Daniel noticed that neither of them had any intentions of backing down themselves had his fingers inching on the trigger prepared to fire at any moment.
"What's going on here?!"
A sudden loud voice came from behind the henchmen.
It was a tall man with short black hair and gray eyes including a matching beard and mustache; in addition to being dressed in a black vest over a white dress shirt, red tie, black gloves, and black dress pants. By the reaction from the henchmen, then he must be Hei Xiong, both a bar owner and an information broker. His expression was by no means a pleasant one after noticing that there was more trouble in his establishment.
Standing next to him were twin sisters who seemed younger or a bit older than him, he couldn't be certain either including who was the oldest.
One was a black-haired young woman with long hair with a straight fringe, which covered her eyebrows, pale green eyes with cyan eyeshadow; dressed in a white strapless dress that has a small bow in the top center part of the dress leading to a cyan skirt layered with feathered tulle, long white gloves that reaches her forearms with cyan details with a silver vambrace on her left forearm; the most notable thing was the white thigh-high boots that have blades fitted on the rear linked to their heels, both silver chains and armored pieces linked in the front.
The second was a black-haired young woman who had a short bob cut styled hair with short fringes and pale green eyes which had red eyeshadow; dressed in a red strapless dress that has an off-centered black belt tied in a bow, leading to a black and red layered tulle, red thigh-high boots with black heels and white lace-up detail, two silver chains that run around from the back linked to layered armor plates in the front; black fingerless forearm length gloves with red linings around the fingertips; the most notable were the red gauntlets, which has long red-black claws.
"This schoolboy entered the club during our repairs! And we were telling him to leave!"
The henchmen informed him about what happened, while still having their weapons trained on him as Daniel still had his pistol and a borrowed rifle pointed at them. Junior grunted after recalling what occurred the last time a teen entered his club and all the damages that were done to the building and his men. Both the twins standing next to him crossed their arms, while still seeming professional.
"I'm not technically a schoolboy. Since I was more or less homeschooled for a time."
"Look, we don't have the time to deal with this," Junior said as he glanced toward Daniel. "I don't feel like making repairs to the place that's still undergoing repairs from the last time someone wanted something. So, just tell me what do you want a kid?"
"Isaac Warin."
Daniel answered giving a single name causing a sudden reaction from Junior who sighed after hearing that name from the unwelcomed patron. He placed his hand on top of his forehead before glancing toward his henchmen.
"Alright, everyone gets back to business. I'll deal with this kid."
Hearing that order from their boss, the men holstered their weapons before going off to their old business despite all of them seeming confused about the order. The man who had his rifle snatched from Daniel remained standing near him as if waiting for him to give it back.
"And you," Junior pointed toward Daniel, who in response nonchalantly pointed toward himself causing the man to roll his eyes. "Get over here to the bar. We'll talk about business over there."
Seeing that he was given permission, Daniel handed back the rifle to the henchmen he took it from before he followed Junior and the twins toward the bar, then holstered his weapon.
After Daniel arrived at the bar, he took a seat in-between the twins who seemed prepared if he tried anything and Junior stood behind the bar where all the alcohol was kept at. There was a moment of silence between the four of them as one of them was waiting to see who'd make the first move.
"So, how are you related to that bastard Isaac," Junior had questioned as he examined Daniel. "Are you his kid or something? But, you don't look much like him."
"No, but who knows, he likely does have at least a kid somewhere considering all the woman I've seen him with," he stated leaning against the bar. "He's more of a family friend, my foster father, and I guess that you could even call him my instructor. So, what happened here exactly? First, I thought that a fight broke out, but it does look like a bomb was dropped here."
"That's an understatement sometime ago, a blonde-haired schoolgirl your age came looking for information about someone," after mentioning that event, Junior looked a little uncomfortable and even the twins scowled. "I had no idea who she was looking forward to, then everything just went sideways and she began fighting everyone inside of here and wreck the entire place."
"I've would've started a fight if you didn't tell your guys to drop their weapons."
"What the hell is wrong with all of these school kids nowadays doing this kind of mess? Those kinds of huntsmen are the worst to deal with in this kind of business," he sighed as he scratched his head before looking at Daniel, glad that he arrived on time before another fight had broken out during the repairs. "Enough with the chitchat, what did Isaac send you here for?"
In response to hearing that, Daniel reached inside his coat pocket causing the twins sitting next to him to prepare for a surprise attack. But, the twins settled down after noticing that it was just an envelope which he handed off to Junior. Opening it, he found a couple of varied colored lien and a letter; the former made him happier, but the latter made him worried about his contents.
"What did that guy send me," Junior mumbled as he pulled out the letter then started reading all the lines without missing a single thing, but the moment he finished, a groan escaped from his mouth. "I can't believe this bastard expects me to go along with another one of his idiotic requests and didn't even pay me all the lien he owed me. I shouldn't expect anything less, this is what I get for asking that bastard for a favor."
Junior grumbled as he crumbled up the letter and threw it into a trashcan that was near him before letting a long sigh escape from his mouth.
"Well, that was all that I had to do for tonight," Daniel said standing up from his seat before turning toward Junior. "Unless this club also happens to serve food here too."
"This is a club, not a restaurant," Junior scratched his head before glancing toward him. "There's a place nearby if you continue going down the street and don't come back unless you need actual information."
"Alright, thanks for the info. Also, I didn't catch your names."
Daniel noted as he turned towards the twins before leaving, causing the one in white to roll her eyes thinking that he was attempting to flirt with them; the one in red, on the other hand, remained silent. After seeing that he hadn't made the slightest attempt to move from his spot, both of them relented and replied.
"The names Melanie Malachite."
"Miltia Malachite."
"Daniel Norden," he introduced himself causing the twins to wonder what he was going to say next. "I'll see both of you and Junior the next time that I decide to come around here."
"What that was it?"
Melanie questioned as she stared at him almost surprised as he turned around to leave.
"It would've been rude if I didn't ask your names before leaving."
"Hmph, whatever."
Daniel laughed a little after hearing those words from Melanie as Militia seemed to share the same opinion as her twin sister turned around to the exit before waving toward the people in the club. Once he walked outside of the club, he followed the directions provided to him by Junior, which led him to a restaurant where he eagerly ate to his heart's (and stomach's) content.
Once Daniel finished paying for his dinner at the restaurant, keeping his promise with Pyrrha, he returned to the hotel before getting too late. Although, he found something placed in front of the hotel entrance that he wasn't expecting to even see at all. It was different luggage, most of them being white, which was being wheeled inside the hotel by men dressed as butlers. Though, what caught his attention most was the emblem depicting a stylized snowflake.
Daniel almost stood in front of the hotel nearly standing there paused due to just how unexpected that it was.
"Well, this is a surprise," he sounded surprised. "I never thought that I'd ever meet her here in Vale of all places."
Despite walking inside of the hotel's lobby, he didn't see a certain white-haired girl but instead noticed that all of the men were pushing the luggage inside of an elevator, which closed behind them. This could mean that she had already gone inside her hotel room. Seeing no other reason to remain standing there, Daniel instead walked toward the front desk where there was a male receptionist who stood behind working on the computer.
"Excuse me, I have a reservation here under the name Daniel Norden."
"Alright, sir, just give me a moment to pull up and verify your reservation," the receptionist typed on his computer as he pulled up the information on Daniel's reservation. "Hello, Mister Norden, I'll like to welcome you to Vale."
"Thanks."
Daniel replied feeling awkward having someone older than him refer to him as "Mister", but shook it off after noticing a key being pointed at him.
"Your luggage has also been delivered to your hotel room."
"Thanks for letting me know."
"I'm having a hard time believing it," Daniel stopped after hearing the receptionist speaking. "I never thought that Weiss Schnee, the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company would come to Vale instead of remaining in Atlas."
"Yea, I was surprised too. Well, I'll be going to my room."
Daniel waved goodbye to the male receptionist as he entered the elevator, which soon closed behind him letting him lean against the wall of the elevator. A slight sigh escaped from his mouth as he thought about the surprise in front of the hotel.
"I seriously never thought that I'd run into Weiss Schnee here of all places," he said as Daniel reached his hand towards the silver pendant on his necklace, which has various runic symbols on it. "Though, I guess that I don't take a genius to come up with a reason why."
It didn't take long for his elevator to reach the floor his room was on, then he exited it and started walking towards his reserved room. After arriving in front of his hotel room, he unlocked it using the key given to him; at the same time, the room next to him revealed a conversation between a woman and another man.
"Ms. Schnee, your father is just worried about yours. You're the heiress of the Schnee Family, if something were to happen, then we wouldn't be able to respond if something happened. There's still time, so would you reconsider returning to Atlas to attempt school there?"
"How many times must I repeat myself," Daniel recognized the voice causing him to inch inside of his hotel room due to not expecting this early encounter and thought that it wasn't the right time for a sudden encounter. "I plan on attending Beacon Academy for four years to become a Huntress and that's the choice that I made for myself. I also believe that I've upheld the conditions that my father placed for me coming to Vale to prove that I was prepared to be far from home."
Daniel didn't move an inch careful not to move the still opened door since making a single sound would alert the two of them that he was there hearing them. And that would turn into an awkward situation. He couldn't tell who the man was but believed that he was someone who worked for the matriarch of the Schnee Family and among the many people, he could describe as being worse than his foster father.
"Is there anything else that father wanted you to tell me before you depart back to Atlas?"
Weiss questioned sounding a little annoyed.
"Yes, this was an optional request from your father that he hopes that you would consider. "Your father requested that you would avoid the 'mongrel'."
Hearing that sparked something within Daniel, who appeared annoying knowing what the phrase 'mongrel' meant and it irritated him.
"I realize that you two were acquaintances once, but wherever he goes troubles behind him. So, your father…."
There was a short pause in their conversation, but he could hear that a slight sigh escaped from Weiss' mouth as she started speaking again over him before he could finish.
"Will that be all? I would like to get some sleep before leaving for Beacon tomorrow morning. Or would father like me to fail due to me being unable to get proper sleep?"
It was the kind of snark that one would expect from a true princess and heiress, which caused Daniel to laugh a little bit. But, he couldn't see the man's reaction.
"Of course. I'll be returning to Atlas, Ms. Schnee."
Daniel heard the man walking down the halls towards the elevator, which made a notable sound after opening. There was a slight desire for him to reveal himself but didn't as Weiss mumbled something to herself before leaving inside of her hotel room. This gave him the chance to close and lock his hotel room door without letting anyone know that he heard their conversation. Daniel recalled the words from the man before departing causing a slightly annoyed sigh to escape from his mouth.
"A mongrel, huh?"
He mumbled to himself, recalling his desire to shoot out of his room to punch that guy in the face. But, he pushed all those thoughts to the back of his head and decided to think about something else.
"Seriously, auntie, how did you even arrange for mine and Weiss' rooms to be next to one another? I doubt that this kind of information wasn't something easy to get."
That was a question that he didn't want to be answered since most would know that the women in his family could pull off almost anything they put their minds to. He soon glanced around his hotel room, noticing that his belongings were all inside ranging from his duffel bag to other cases, which were sent from Mistral to Vale first. Though what had caught his attention most was the large case placed on his bed with his emblem on the front.
"I couldn't bring this along with me during my trip to Argus," Daniel stated in a solemn tone as he placed his hand on the case. "'Travel to Argus without wielding your beloved child, and I'll consider it a final lesson,' he says. But, I have to admit that it was a little difficult fighting against the Grimm and bandits without using my beloved partner. Though, I think that we're both going to rock the initiation when it finally comes around. Before all that, I think that I need to take a shower before heading off to bed."
Daniel didn't smell all that bad, but since he was traveling on foot for a couple of days already and hadn't been able to take a proper shower, there was a certain noticeable unappealing scent on him. After picking out his sleepwear from inside of a duffle bag, he went inside of the shower looking forward to tomorrow.
A/N: Well, this was the first chapter of RWBY – Team DUSK, there is are some things that I wanted to first go over. I thought about doing a story that wasn't High School DxD and RWBY was the closest thing that came to mind. Like other characters in RWBY, the members of Team DUSK and some others introduced will allude to characters from other stories and legends who I thought would fit.
There will be more introduction about Daniel's character in future chapters including his weapon and later on semblance, which I thought a lot about beforehand including his future teammates. But, the character he alludes to will be a little difficult for someone to guess at first. Although, his surname means North, and his emblem is referred to as a Valknut.
Joseph Kheiron alludes to Chiron, the centaur who trained Achilles who Pyrrha alludes, and another hero to who her friend, Hunter alludes. I'm positive if someone looked up Chiron's students, I'm sure that someone will figure it out.
As for pairings, I'll leave that for the next chapter.
