Luke slowly pulled away from Din wiping his eyes. Din watched him carefully.
I'm sorry. Luke whispered.
It's fine. Din assured him touching his shoulder. Luke glanced at Din's hand. Luke sighed running a hand down his face.
I, I need to go. Luke said standing up. Din stood up as well. I'll train Grogu after lunch. Luke said his eyes darting around the room. Din nodded. Luke nodded back then left.
Din sighed. He turned to Grogu. You okay kid? He asked. Grogu tilted his head. Din smiled picking him up.
After lunch Luke returned.
Is Grogu ready? Luke asked walking into the house.
Yes. Din replied. He noticed Luke looked exhausted.
Come on young one. Luke said holding out his hand. Grogu toddler over to him. Luke started to walk then paused. My sister's coming tomorrow.
Din Tilted his head. Do you need me to leave?
No... it's fine but I was wondering if you would mind if we used your space?
No, not at all. Din replied.
Good. Luke said nodding. Luke glanced down at Grogu. We should do training. Luke said sounding like he was talking to himself.
Did you eat? Din suddenly asked.
Luke looked up sharply. What?
Did you eat? Din asked.
No... but I'm fine. Din watched Luke closely but nodded. Come on Grogu. Luke said walking for the doorway. I will bring him back for dinner. Luke said.
Alright. Din replied. Luke nodded then left. Din sighed. He sat down thinking about all that was happening.
Luke watched Grogu dodge the blasters. You're doing well. Luke said. Luke's thoughts wandered back to his training with Obi wan. Luke cringed remembering obi wan had also died that day.
Luke took a shaky breath. That's enough Grogu. Luke said deactivating the ball. It is time to meditate. Grogu huffed grumply. I know, Luke said starting to walk. But it must be done.
After a while of walking Luke sat down Grogu sat next to him. Just focus on the force. Luke said closing his eyes. Luke gasped softly as visions of that fateful day played in his mind, his burnt home, his aunt and uncle. Luke's eyes snapped opening he took in a panicked breath rubbing violently at his wrist.
Luke stumbled to his feet clutching his hair his breathing panicked. He barely registered the noises of concern coming from Grogu. Their dead, their dead! Luke mumbled to himself. Luke suddenly felt hands on his shoulders.
Hey, breathe. Deep breath. Luke tried to take one. That's it, take another one, you're okay.
After a few minutes Lukes managed to slow his breathing down. As his vision cleared he saw Din standing in front of him. Luke's eyes widened slightly. How did you get here? Luke asked moving away from Din.
Grogu came for me...he seemed like something was wrong so I followed him. Din replied.
Oh. Luke replied glancing down at Grogu. Thank you young one. Luke said. Gogu squeaked holding up his hands. Luke picked him up. Um...I'm sorry you saw that. Luke said awkwardly. You keep seeing all these things, I am sorry. Luke said.
It's fine Luke. Din replied gently touching Luke's wrist. Luke glanced down at Din's hand.
Would you...stay for the dinner tomorrow with my sister? Luke asked his voice barely above a whisper.
Din paused. Yes. He finally replied.
Are you sure? Luke asked looking up at Din.
I'm sure.
Thank you. Luke said.
Din nodded. I'll let you get back to training. Din then said.
Yes, Grogu we still need to meditate. Luke said setting Grogu back down. Din smiled slightly then walked away. Luke sighed sitting next to Grogu. He took a deep breath trying to focus on the force.
A while past. Alright Grogu. Luke said. It is time to return to your father. Grogu squeaked excitedly. Luke chuckled softly following grogu back to the house.
Hello. Luke said entering the house. Din glanced up.
How was he? Din asked picking Grogu up.
He is doing well. Luke said going into the kitchen.
You really don't have to cook. Din said.
No, it's fine. Luke replied. Sometimes it helps with everything...but not as much as flying does. Luke said.
You're a pilot? Din asked.
Mhm. Luke hummed. I flew in the rebellion, I was in rouge squadron.
Any good? Din asked.
Luke shrugged. I like to think I am. He replied smiling slightly. Han likes to say I'd never be able to handle the falcon. Din laughed slightly. Luke smiled a genuine smile.
So you flew an X-wing? Din asked.
Yes. Luke replied. I still have it. Luke said bringing food to the table. I'll have to show you sometime. Din nodded.
Well, I'll be going now. Luke said heading for the door.
Wait, why don't you eat here first? Din asked. Luke hesitated.
No, I have some things I need to do.
Din nodded.
I'll see you tomorrow. Luke said.
Alright, goodnight Luke. Din said.
Goodnight. Luke replied then he left.
Luke headed to the spot he found that always had the best view of the sunset. Luke let out a shaky breath sitting down. He watched the sunset sadness washing over him. A tear slipped down Luke's cheek, he didn't bother to wipe it away. More tears fell. But for the first time in a while, He didn't feel quite so alone.
