Hey, hey!
So, in this chapter Naruto and Sasuke are back. It is a lengthy reunion chapter. So enjoy.
"Hey Naruto, slow down! We can barely keep up. You're practically running." Jiraiya yelled at Naruto, who was power walking as they got close to the gates of Konoha. "Jeez. Calm yourself down kid. All of this over your 'lady friend'."
Naruto turned and looked at Jiraiya, "Blow me." That was all he said as the three of them started to advance to the gates of Konoha. Naruto knew Jiraiya was just picking at him about Hinata. He's been picking the whole journey back.
Naruto immediately paused when he heard a twig snap along the walking path. Someone was hiding in the trees. "Hey! Don't hide from us. That's rude. Show yourself." Naruto turned to the direction of the sound, which was the right of him. A figure popped out, upside down from the trees in an Anbu mask as they looked at Naruto.
"Credentials please."
Naruto looked at the Anbu-nin like he was crazy before pulling out the requested info, "Jeez all you had to do was ask." The Anbu took Naruto and Sasuke's credentials and was about to take Jiraiya's before a figure emerged. This person snuck up on the Anbu-nin even though Jiraiya, Naruto and Sasuke sensed the other Anbu-nin coming.
"Why are you hanging upside down?"
Naruto watched the Anbu-nin freeze in their spot. He could tell the Anbu-nin had gotten pale and froze in fear. "Oh…umm. Phoenix, I umm. Sir, I was just-"
"This is the legendary sannin Jiraiya and you are in a relaxed, disrespectful position like this. Not only that, if these people decided they wanted to take your head off, it wouldn't be hard to do so. Now would it?" The Anbu-nin hanging from the tree was silent. He slowly crawled out the tree and hung his head down as he looked at his captain.
"I will…go to the locker room." The senior Anbu crossed his arms over his chest and looked at the rookie. "I think that's a good idea. Clean the locker out too."
Naruto watched awkwardly as the Anbu gave the senior Anbu their credentials and walked off. Once the rookie was gone from sight, the Phoenix Anbu shook his head and casually gave Naruto and Sasuke back their credentials. "Took you long enough to get back. Follow me. I will escort you to the Hokage."
Naruto tilted his head. Phoenix? Holy shit this was Neji! He just watched Neji fire someone! "Holy crap!" Neji held a hand up before Naruto got too excited. "I'm on duty. Save it for later. Let's get you guys checked in. Welcome back by the way."
Once they were all checked in and Jiraiya had finally agreed to stick around and report back to Tsunade later. They all followed Neji to their main point of interest. Neji was silent as he looked at his watch and walked through the village. He stopped walking for a moment before he let out a sigh of relief. "It's eight in the morning. My midnight shift is over." Neji stretched his back and casually slid his mask off his face. Doing duty around the village was so annoying. It was pointless to wear your mask. Everyone knew who you were.
He was trying so hard to get rid of that stupid policy.
Neji turned to look at Naruto and Sasuke. Years ago they were much shorter than him. Now they were all the same height. "Hinata was on midnight shift as well. So she is now officially off duty. However, Anko-sama has pulled her into a meeting. So she's not heading home yet. Follow me."
Neji lead the two through the village. Sasuke received SEVERAL lovestruck stares from the ladies that hadn't seen him in a while. All attention was unwanted and ignored from Sasuke. Naruto grinned and rolled his eyes at this. All this attention was going to go to Sasuke's head again.
Sasuke noticed that Neji was taking them to a local dive bar that even Sasuke remembered a lot of ninja's frequented around. Why in the hell would Hinata be here?
Sure enough Hinata was there. Standing outside and across the way from the bar.
Hinata was standing beside an older Hyuga. Who Naruto and Sasuke quickly identified as her father, Hiashi. Her arms were behind her back and so were Hiashi's. They both leaned into one another as they spoke to each other.
"I never thought I'd see the day this would happen." Jiraiya looked at the scene. Hiashi speaking to his daughter in a close, relaxed encounter about who knows what. Hinata listening intently without looking fearful. "Aside from the hair color. They look like twins."
Naruto and Sasuke gave Jiraiya a pointed look, who laughed before leaving the three young men. Really? How dare he compare Hinata to that monster. They continued to look at her in silence and noticed Hiashi leaned into Hinata again and whispered something to her. An arrogant grin on Hiashi's face. Who knows what he was telling her. Probably criticizing someone.
Whatever it was. Hinata mimicked the grin and the two Hyuga's turned to look at Anko as she yelled for Hinata to meet her at the outdoor table of the dive bar.
Hiashi immediately frowned and looked annoyed at Anko. He grumbled something to Hinata and she giggled at him. It was not a bubbly giggle. Naruto could tell Hinata's happy go lucky, sunshine giggles. This was a giggle that he would imagine Neji would make if he was a female.
Yikes.
Both Hinata and Hiashi still had their hands behind their backs. People around them avoided the two respectfully. Hinata receiving the same amount of respect as Hiashi. The same amount of nervous stares and smiles. People respected her like they did her father. Something Hinata always wanted.
Naruto tilted his head as he looked at her. He wondered what Hinata had to do to finally get the recognition. Surely nothing she was willing to share in their letters.
Something he'd bring up later. In private.
Hinata respectively bowed to her father to leave to speak with Anko. Hiashi actually dismissed her politeness and chuckled. Deeming it unnecessary.
Sasuke blinked at the scene. Years ago Hiashi would have demanded this from Hinata and would leave her with a cold stare. Now they had respect for one another. Which only meant Hinata was everything Hiashi wanted her to be.
That was not what Sasuke wanted for Hinata, but he'd have to see for himself. See how much Hinata had really changed.
Now Hinata was at a standing table with Anko and had her hands behind her back respectfully as Anko spoke to her. Anko had a very detailed scroll on the table as she pointed at certain spots on the scroll and spoke to Hinata. Anko had a cocktail on the table and it looked to be her third one. While Hinata wasn't drinking anything. She was probably too exhausted to even drink water.
Neji frowned as he looked at Anko. "She's trying to coax Hinata to agree to a mission. I just know it. We had one a week ago. We're due for one more week break because it was a A-ranked mission."
Like she could sense Neji around, Anko looked up and grinned at Neji. He refused to pay her any attention earlier, so she went to Hinata because Hinata was much too polite to say no. Plus she really needed this mission done right. "I'll send you the extra details later Hinata. Again thanks for the favor!"
Anko turned around and stuck her tongue out at Neji. Who growled at the childish behavior. "She truly works on my nerves."
Hinata turned to see who Anko was teasing this time just to see Neji…along with two people she was very, very happy to see. "Oh my." Neji rolled his eyes at seeing how stuck Hinata had gotten.
Of course, not wasting any time. Naruto had made his way in record time to Hinata and swooped her up in a big hug. He smiled even bigger when Hinata reciprocated the hug and wrapped her legs around him. "I missed you Princess!"
Hinata buried her face in the crook of Naruto's neck and held him closer, "I missed you too Naruto-kun." Hinata pulled away and looked at Sasuke who was beside her. He gave her a gentle smile and she leaned over to him. The two pressed their foreheads together and both of them let out a content sigh.
Naruto finally put Hinata down, but wouldn't stop holding her. Hinata looked up at him and Naruto could see how happy she was to see them. Her face was clear for the most part. As perfect as ever, but Naruto did notice a slight bruise on her cheek.
Naruto smiled and ignored the markings. He'd ask her about it later. Hinata leaned into his touch as he cupped her cheeks and leaned down to kiss her nose. "I really missed you Hinata."
She looked up at Naruto and gave him a bright smile. She missed his big bright blue eyes and how when he grew emotional they darkened. Naruto's hair was still as wild as ever. She knew that because of the pictures they would send her. His hair was wild and if Hinata were to look in the history books, Naruto looked just like his dad.
Just like old times, Sasuke snuck up and approached Hinata from the back. He was closer against her than usual. Invading her personal space as he leaned down and whispered in her ear. Not one to be as loud and vocal as Naruto. Sasuke had whispered to her his feelings about how much he missed her.
Neji crossed his arms over his chest as Hinata became beet red. "Alright. We're in public you know."
Hinata immediately straightened up and cleared her throat. Even though Naruto and Sasuke were still held up close against her and had soft smiles on their face. Neji wanted to roll his eyes so badly. "Well. I assume you will accompany Naruto and Sasuke back to their apartment. You need some sleep as well Hinata, so come back home. Plus you have to debrief me on what that nuisance Anko wants. Honestly, tell her no sometimes Hinata."
Hinata poked her fingers together bashfully. "It's so hard to tell her no." Neji rolled his eyes finally as he turned away from Hinata to go home and rest. "Don't play coy. It's not hard for you to tell people no." He paused and turned to look back at Hinata. A mischievous glimmer in his eyes, "Remember when you told me no. Wasn't too long ago."
Hinata puffed her cheeks out and watched Neji walk off. He could be so mean sometimes. Sasuke looked at Hinata, he reached down and locked his index finger with Hinata's pinky. Hinata felt Sasuke gently and nonchalantly pull her closer to him. He just had to have her near him. He had to be touching her.
"Umm. I will take you to your apartment. So you can drop off your belongings and freshen up." Hinata looked up at Naruto. He still had his arms wrapped around her waist. She could feel his fingers slide up and down her spine as he looked down at her and smiled. Naruto and Sasuke were so much taller now. About two heads taller than Hinata.
"Okay. Let's go Princess."
The walk to Sasuke's old apartment was everything they envisioned it would be. Hand holding. Unlimited smiles. Whispers. Sneaking tender touches. Enough to make them implode with need for each other.
Sasuke opened the door to his apartment. He took in the appearance of how clean it was and up to date. "You've really done a good job taking care of this place. Thank you. Did you change the bed?"
A few weeks ago Sasuke had asked Hinata to change over his bed to a bigger size. Something she liked and found comfortable. He sent her the money, even though Hinata told him it wasn't necessary, and Hinata found a larger bed.
She looked at Sasuke and devotedly nodded her head at him. Sasuke smiled at her as he placed his bags down. Naruto followed suit and closed the front door behind him. It was just the three of them now. Naruto leaned against the front door and stared at Hinata. Taking in her appearance now that they weren't out in public.
Naruto tilted his head as he looked at Hinata. He wasn't going to do anything. He wanted to. He wanted to do a lot right now, but he wanted to see what Hinata really was ready for. Naruto watched Sasuke as he approached Hinata. Sasuke stared deep into her eyes and ran his hands through her inky hair. Hinata closed her eyes at the contact and leaned into him.
"You've been up all night on duty. We've been traveling all night. Why don't you go home, shower and sleep? We'll do the same and meet you tonight at your house." Hinata opened her eyes and looked at Sasuke with a small pout. "I don't want to be away from you or Naruto-kun."
Naruto walked up behind Hinata and wrapped his arms around her waist. "I love you." He buried his face in the crook of Hinata's neck and squeezed her against his body. Hinata smiled at the feeling. "I love you Naruto-kun. I love Sasuke-kun too…I don't…want to be alone again."
Sasuke had less restraint than Naruto. He turned Hinata to face him and pulled her into a kiss. Hinata immediately wrapped her arms around him. It had been so long since Hinata had kissed. Putting her lips on someone now felt so foreign. She felt like an amateur all over again. Sasuke was the one to teach her how to kiss, so she wasn't surprised that he was still able to take her breath away.
'I don't blame you. I'd be excited too. Over three years is a long time to wait. Have you thought about how you're gonna spend the night with Naruto and Sasuke? Are you going to make them suffer, and wait a little more or are you gonna jump their bones?'
Hinata thought about Ino's words. The day she gave Hinata a bag full of goodies. The bag that she had placed underneath Sasuke's bed. She certainly was not planning on losing her virginity at her home, where Neji could possibly overhear.
Now that Hinata thought about it. It would be eventful to wait a little. To lead a little before being taken over.
Hinata felt Sasuke's tongue touch her lips and pulled away. She noticed his breathing had picked up and he looked at her with unreserved lust. "I…think I will go home to freshen up. Sleep in. Only if you promise to be at my home at six tonight for dinner. Promise?"
She had bit her bottom lip nervously. Having never played the lead role when it came to Naruto and Sasuke. She hoped they were okay with it. That they didn't think she was toying with them and being overly promiscuous.
Sasuke had scrunched his eyebrows together in confusion for a second before a small grin graced his face. He remembered in Hinata's letters that she wanted to explore certain things sexually. So, she wanted to set the mood. She wanted things to go a certain way and he was liking this side of her. "Okay."
Naruto turned Hinata's head towards him and gave her a big, full kiss. Hinata had turned around and wrapped her arms around his waist, but before she could get into it like she did with Sasuke, Naruto had pulled away, but not before biting her bottom lip. "Alright Princess. Tonight then."
He pulled Hinata into a hug and Sasuke came on the other side to complete it. Making Hinata the middle of their sandwich again. Her boys were back again.
Neji opened the front door to his home. Hinata had told him that she gave Naruto and Sasuke directions to their home and that they would be there at six this evening. Which was fine. Hinata had gotten home around 9:30 in the morning, so she slept about seven hours after getting settled.
Neji looked at Naruto and Sasuke and immediately stepped to the side to let them in. He was dressed in his casual attire. His cream colored, open chest robe and slacks. While his hair was in a loose ponytail. He still kept the lower sides shaved on both sides. Tenten liked the look.
Naruto smiled at Neji and walked in. He wasn't in his Jonin attire anymore. Naruto was a more modern person and wore a black hoodie with a white shirt underneath. It was warm outside, so he had on a loose pair of burnt orange shorts that stopped a little below his knees and a pair of black sandals. Without his forehead protector, Naruto's bangs fell in his face and it was almost playing 'peekaboo' with his piercing blue eyes.
Naruto didn't have the long bangs on the side like his father. He opted to try to be different in some shape. His hair was long, just minus the side bangs. Naruto had his ears pierced. Small hoop earrings. They were dark purple-colored earrings. Hinata and Sasuke's favorite color that Naruto liked to see them in was purple.
Sasuke was more traditional. Really him and Naruto were night and day. Sasuke was the perfect man a women would want to bring to her father, image wise. Naruto was better in terms of personality and respectfulness.
Sasuke wore a two-piece robe similar to Neji's. His was a dark navy-blue color. It went really well with Sasuke's skin complexion. Sasuke liked his hair how he had always had it. Trimmed in the back and long in the front. His bangs were longer than they were when they were younger. Falling well below his chin.
Sasuke had his ears pierced as well. The color the same as Naruto's. Sasuke from time to time when he wore civilian clothing did like to wear purple as well. Naruto often complimented how Sasuke and Hinata could pull purple off so well.
Naruto looked at Neji and smiled. "Thanks Neji!" Neji gave Naruto a blunt look. The blonde was still as loud as ever. Now that he saw how loud the Hokage was, Neji honestly thought it was a blonde thing. Ino was loud too if Shikamaru rowdy her up enough.
"Hinata's in the kitchen cooking." Sasuke nodded his head after hearing Neji and walked down the hall to the kitchen. For their age range, for Neji and Hinata to have a home this big, flat out paid for was insane. Hinata had wrote a letter explaining about Neji's inheritance, but still. That was one big fucking inheritance.
Walking into the kitchen, Naruto and Sasuke saw a very pregnant Tenten walking to have a seat. She was giving Neji an annoyed look. "I was going to get the door Neji." Said person sat beside Tenten at the giant island in the kitchen and ignored Tenten's tantrum. Between Hinata, Hanabi and Tenten, Neji was a professional at ignoring female behaviors.
"You moved too slow. There was no need for you to get up anyways. Rest yourself." Neji was sipping on his tea and avoided the heated stare down Tenten was giving him. "I'm pregnant not handicapped."
Neji didn't miss a beat. "Pregnancy can be identified as a temporary handicap." He almost spilled his tea dodging the hand that came flying to smack him in the back of his head. Neji was grinning as he looked over at Tenten. Clearly amused that she was getting so flustered.
Tenten was red in the face as she looked at Neji. "Hinata. Get your brother. He's being so unreasonable." Hinata turned to look at Tenten. She had an apron on, but she was wearing a dark brown kimono that stopped mid-thigh. A cream colored obi tied in a nice big bow in the back. Her long hair was pulled back into a similar sloppy bun as Neji's and she had a cream colored bandana on.
Hinata was lowering the food on the stove to simmer as she walked over to Tenten and hugged her side. She could never get enough of touching Tenten during her pregnancy. Anything to be close to the soon to be Hyuga heir.
Hinata made the decision if Neji didn't want the title now, his child would have the honors of having it.
Naruto smiled as he saw Hinata hold Tenten lovingly. So carefree. Right now Tenten was also smiling at the affection. "Honestly Hinata. Neji has people trying to carry my groceries home when he's not around. He has Hyuga's checking on me while he's out on a mission. He treats me like I'm made of glass."
Naruto watched as Hinata rested her chin on Tenten's shoulder. She was looking at Neji in an amused manner, both Hyuga's made eye contact and smiled. "Tenten. It's not Neji that does that. It's me."
Neji chuckled at this and Tenten turned to look at Hinata completely shocked. Tenten looked between Hinata and Neji multiple times flabbergasted. Both Hyuga's completely fixated on her. Both giving her hypnotizing stares. "You two are so controlling I SWEAR."
This caught Sasuke's attention. He was walking around looking at the house. Looking at pictures and decorations. When he heard Tenten say that, he paused and looked over at Hinata.
Controlling? Hinata? Well, well, well.
Maybe it was him and Naruto with the blinders on. Maybe she was more like the rest of her family than they were willing to believe. Maybe Hinata played her part and created the innocent card so she could steal their hearts before she showed her true colors.
Sasuke watched how Hinata held Tenten adoringly. How Neji watched the two with a calm, family man smile on his face. Both Neji and Hinata were looking at Tenten protectively. Sasuke wouldn't be surprised if they planned Tenten's daily schedule out without her knowing.
Hinata was still structured, just like when they were younger, but now she had the power within her clan to move how she wanted.
Sasuke liked what he was seeing so far.
Hinata smiled at Tenten and hugged her again. "Please don't be angry. You are pregnant. This is the first boy in the main family in a very long time. He'll be the first, not to be sealed so far that is a boy. He will be clan heir in the future when I grant him the title. It is important to smother him with love even before he is born."
Neji arched a brow as he leaned back in his chair and looked at Hinata and Tenten. A playful grin on his face. "Love? You mean spoil him. He'll come out the womb entitled like Hanabi."
Hinata gave Neji a pointed look. Neji challenged the look with a smirk, holding in his laughter. "Am I lying Hinata?"
Hinata couldn't hold it in. She could feel Tenten start to giggle and soon Hinata cracked a smile as well. "You are terrible brother. That is your little sister. You're her guardian."
Neji sat up and rested his elbow on the counter. "Yes. Reason why I can admit Hanabi is as spoiled as they get. Me and you could never get away with all she's gotten away with. Plus, she doesn't know how to talk to people. Her diplomatic skills are not desirable at all. She thinks flirting means you're trained to communicate with foreigners. To top it off, no matter how hard you or me knock her on her rear end during training, she swears she is the better of the three of us."
Hinata held in a smile as Neji complained. Teenage Hanabi annoyed Neji greatly.
"She has pride in herself Neji. She only shows her kindness within our clan. Something she has to break out of. We all do. Plus, I enjoy Hanabi's spunkiness." Neji rolled his eyes at Hinata's words. She was always making excuses for Hanabi. "Okay. Well you can be the one to bail our little sister out next time her words gets her into trouble."
Hinata gave a nervous laugh at this and scratched the back of her head. Indicating she wasn't ready to take on whatever problems Hanabi would bring her. She had enough on her plate. Hinata and Neji split duties 50/50. Hanabi taking up about 60% of Neji's duties. "I will umm. Talk to her about it Neji. Please, don't worry."
Naruto smiled at watching the relaxed exchange between Neji and Hinata. It was nice to see them communicate so wholesome between one another.
Tenten yawned as she looked at Neji. "You invited Ino and Shikamaru for dinner. Yeah?" Neji nodded his head as he heard a knock on the front door. That should be them.
He watched Hinata for a second as she went to answer the door before looking back at Tenten. "Yes. Shikamaru asked me a few days ago when would be the next time Hinata cooked and I told him it would most likely be tonight. He didn't want to miss out on it and neither did Ino."
Tenten stretched as she listened. "Hmm. Kiba and Sakura too?" Neji wanted to make a joke, but it may be too soon. "No. Not this time around. Are you feeling tired?" Tenten nodded her head and looked at Neji sleepily. "I'll eat my plate after I wake up. Me and baby Neji are tired."
A light blush dusted Neji's cheeks when Tenten said this. This was common. Tenten always got tired around this time. Reason why they had started to have dinner earlier, but with Neji and Hinata on the midnight schedule the last month it hasn't been the easiest to have family dinners. "Okay. I'll go lay with you."
Tenten shook her head. "Guest are here you grinch. Plus you still have to talk about Hinata's meeting with Anko. Hinata said you two won't have work tonight, so obviously that means she accepted whatever mission Anko dangled in her face. It better be worth it Neji Hyuga."
Neji didn't miss the light threat. Great, now Hinata had gotten him in the dog house. "Don't worry Tenten." Said person was now frowning at Neji. Things were getting more and more hectic. It was hard not to worry. However, that was something they could conversate later. Neji's participation with Hinata's escapades would soon have to slow down.
Tenten turned and looked at Naruto and Sasuke. "Welcome back! I'm glad you two made it back safely." With that Tenten stood up to go to bed for a few hours.
Hinata came back with Ino and Shikamaru. Soon everyone was in the room closed off from the house. The same entertainment room they used to do extracurricular activities like meditate or lounge around to smoke Hookah. Food was being passed around and everyone was eating. Hinata had made Tenten's plate and placed it in the microwave for her.
Neji was sitting beside Shikamaru, who was sitting beside Ino. Hinata was on the other side of the table in the middle of Naruto and Sasuke. She ate a little before her curiosity of earlier got the best of her. "Is Tenten upset with me?"
Neji looked at Hinata and shrugged his shoulders. He ate and was now enjoying another cup of tea. "Tenten is upset with everyone, all the time now. Being in her third trimester is not something she is enjoying." Hinata frowned as she looked at Neji. He was being modest.
Neji leaned back on the cushion he was sitting on. "Honestly Hinata. Did you think she would be okay with us going on another mission so soon? We just came back from one. At this point she feels like we're the lackey's for the intel squadron, to send us on risky reconnaissance missions. Half the time they end up being an assassination mission."
This did not seem to faze Hinata. If anything, she seemed to grow less concerned with Tenten's mood. "Oh. This is our work though. Does she want you to quit Anbu?" Neji tilted his head and looked at Hinata, amusement danced across his relaxed face. Neji didn't know if Naruto and Sasuke knew yet, but Hinata was picking.
They knew. Both Naruto and Sasuke were giving Hinata the side eye. Wondering why she was picking with Neji, who was notorious for giving her a tongue lashing that resulted in tears.
Hinata adored Tenten and loved her. She loved the fact she was about to be an Aunt to the first male in their family for a while. However, Neji knew Hinata had goals and ambitions. Hinata wouldn't let Tenten stop her from reaching her goals. She's vocalized this to Tenten before and that is why Tenten did not speak this in front of Hinata.
Neji had to be a mediator about that issue for a few days in the past. "Now, why would I do that Hinata? Why would I leave you, in Anbu by yourself. Just so you can go savage again?"
Hinata just stared at Neji. She could feel that they both were about to engage into a miniature argument. "Because I can handle myself Neji. I'm not a child. I do not need to be watched over." Neji grinned now. He arched a brow and looked at Hinata. "Oh really?"
Naruto internally rolled his eyes. Hinata and Neji never changed from plucking one another nerves. It's good to see Hinata has only grown a back bone and handles Neji's attitude better.
Ino looked over at Neji. Those two. Neji and Hinata were always being 'nice-nasty' to one another. A habit that Neji could never drop from when they were younger and a habit Hinata had started to pick up. Being around Neji far too long, she was starting to be just as cold as Neji and her father could be. "Oh, come on you two. Don't start."
Shikamaru grunted as he focused on his food, "Too late."
Neji continued to look at Hinata mischievously. "Well, since you're so grown you can tell these two what happened to your face. I'm sure you didn't already."
Hinata's mouth dropped open as she looked at Neji. "I was going to today. Privately. You did not have to do that Neji Hyuga." Said person shrugged his shoulders, "You were already with them in private, yet they still don't know."
Naruto frowned at this. He took back his generous words from earlier. Neji was still a prick.
Hinata cleared her throat to explain, "I went to find and talk to Danzo." Neji looked entertained at this point. "Talk to? Find him? Or do you mean sneak up on him? Plus there was little to no talking done."
Hinata at this point was burning holes through Neji as she shot him a look before turning back to Naruto and then Sasuke. "Me and Neji, like I have told you in letters, we have been going through the list we received from the councilmen's home. One by one we have been pushing councilmen that were once Danzo's allies to be ours. They still feared Danzo, I…just wanted to show them that they should be scared of other people as well."
Sasuke looked at Hinata. He wasn't happy she brought this up now, but he believed she was going to tell them tonight. This probably just happened recently and she'd rather have told them in person.
Earlier they were preoccupied with other things, so Sasuke understood the delay. Neji was just being Neji, finding enjoyment getting under Hinata's skin. Sasuke ignored the sibling tension and looked at Hinata. "So, you went to his home?"
Neji was busying himself as he was setting up the Hookah. Orange cream-sickle tonight. "In the middle of the night at that."
Shikamaru elbowed Neji and gave him a look. If Neji kept teasing, Hinata would surely get him back when he least expected it. Hinata's revenge was much more sinister.
Hinata nodded her head and side eyed Neji. "Yes. In the middle of the night. I've been scouting Danzo for a few months, so I was able to find his home. His sleep schedule, places that he frequented. His control in the ROOT organization. Many things. I knew he was dangerous. I knew I couldn't single handedly over power him, but I knew I had to go alone. I did not want Neji to go with me."
Neji clearly was still angry about the situation. Especially because Hinata never apologized. He was staring at Hinata with anger in his eyes now. It had been years since he was worried like that. The only time he worried that badly for Hinata was when the Akatsuki kidnapped them. "You told me not to go. Not told me. ORDERED me."
Hinata ignored Neji's heated stare. She held her head up high and squared her jaw. She closed her eyes because she didn't want to look at Neji's disappointed face. Still not willing to apologize. "You know why I did it. There has to be at least one of us left."
Naruto looked between Neji and Hinata. So, Neji wasn't being a dick, he was just hurt. Naruto has felt this many times when they were younger with Hinata. Her willingness to sacrifice herself like her life meant nothing still angered Naruto. So he could imagine how Neji felt.
"Okay. So you went to Danzo's home. Alone. Middle of the night and I'm guessing he was waiting for you Hinata. You two fought and then what happened?"
Hinata looked at Naruto, "He's a very strong man. He could use perfectly many elements. Like wood release and wind. He…he has a Sharingan like Kakashi-sensei. He has them all along his arms as well. His body is very deformed from all of the modifications he's done."
Sasuke looked at her with a blank expression for a moment. This man had Sharingan's. Then the scroll that Hinata sent him before was starting to make sense. "He took those eyes. From the massacre that he authorized and pushed for. He wanted it to happen for his own gain." Sasuke reached over and lightly touched Hinata's chin to turn her to look at him as he examined her face.
"What happened?"
Hinata looked into his eyes and smiled sadly at him. "I was able to land an immediate shot with my arrow, but he is a very strong man. He gave me a beating that I haven't experienced in a long time. It makes me feel like all that hard training with my father was meant for monsters like that. I came prepared for the unknown threat of Danzo though. My arrows were coated with a sedative and after about five minutes it kicked in."
Naruto closed his eyes. Clearly a bit frustrated and angry from the conversation. "So, you just had to take a beating until the sedative kicked in. Please tell me you killed this bastard."
Shikamaru and Ino looked at Naruto. Shock clear on their face. This was the last thing they thought would come from Naruto. Oh how times have changed.
It also let them know that Hinata did tell them a lot that has been going on. The fact that Naruto and Sasuke didn't look surprised by somethings and were very supportive and understanding showed they were okay with what Hinata was doing.
Sasuke looked at her expectantly, "Did you?"
Hinata eyes glossed over as she thought about that night. "I wanted to. I would have."
Neji chimed in at this moment. "Kakashi stopped her. I asked him to follow her since she was so bent on me not going. Thank your stars that Kakashi stopped you in time. Danzo cannot die right now. Everything would have been pointed to you Hinata. He has to be rightfully convicted of his crimes. You cannot be a vigilante."
Hinata turned her chin from Sasuke and looked at Neji. "I am prepared of the consequence brother. It would have fallen on me and me alone."
Neji shook his head and looked at Hinata with an annoyed smile. "Do you honestly think your father would let you sink by yourself? He says he would, but let's be real here. Do you honestly think me, or Hanabi or even all the connections you made would let that happen? The Hyuga clan would give this village hell and you should be able to see that by now Hinata. This isn't your fight anymore. Control yourself better."
Shikamaru nodded his head. "I'd hate to say it but he's right. Look at it like this. If Danzo killed you. He'd start a war. Hyuga's, Nara's, Yamanaka's, Akimichi's, Uchiha, Uzumaki. You name it. They're all coming for this dudes head and would twist the village upside down if they protected him. If you killed Danzo, it would be the same outcome because the Hokage would have to imprison you Hinata and again, allies wouldn't let that happen so easily."
Ino gave Hinata a saddened look. "The times that we are in Hinata. It's a time of a lot of battles, bloodshed and war. Konoha doesn't need any internal conflict. We need to join together and pretend we like each other enough to defeat the Akatsuki. Also…Orochimaru. Remember?"
Hinata's cheeks puffed out slightly before she looked up at Neji bashfully. Her hands were buried in her lap and she felt awfully foolish. "I'm sorry Neji. I'm not sorry for asking you to not participate, because soon you will be a father. Tenten needs you, but I am sorry for not listening to your warning. You were right."
Neji and Hinata stared at one another in silence for a moment. Neji rolled his eyes and sat up to drink more of his tea, "I'm already a father. You act enough like my child Hinata. You're going to give me grey hairs before my own child. However, that's what advisors are for. Right?"
Hinata smiled at Neji's way of accepting her apology. She was a leader that was learning as she went on. She had to see the bigger picture of things, she had to understand that she was a leader first, than a ninja. Which was hard because all she knew growing up was being a ninja first.
Hinata made an 'o' sound as she remembered the mission. "Anko-sama. About the mission, it is to assist Kakashi-sensei with investigating the intel of Orochimaru's location. He's near Konoha according to the intel squadron and Anko-sama wanted us to be there. Umm…Ino, if you could. Can you elaborate?"
Neji gave Ino an annoyed look. "I should have known it came from the intel squadron. You guys don't let Anbu rest. Everything is an urgent matter with you guys. Nothing goes through the proper protocol of reaching the Hokage's desk first."
Ino gave a nervous laugh and waved her hands innocently. "Hey now. Anko-sama is the one to take the information and run with it. I submitted the proper paperwork. She thought it was taking too long and jumped protocol. Still, I know you say we always say this…but this is really important Neji."
Neji gave Ino a pointed look before looking at Shikamaru, who nodded his head agreeing with Ino. "It is important. Locating Orochimaru is easy really. All his victims with curse marks, the pain acts up when he is near. Anko has been feeling some pain and agitation. Her connection and reliance on the marking is a bit heavier than Sasuke's. However, that doesn't mean he still can't track you Sasuke. Only reason he is near is because you're near. We all know what he wants and based off our last encounter we know what he is willing to do to get to you."
Hinata looked at Ino slightly confused, "I thought he had acquired a new body."
Ino nodded her head but shrugged her shoulders, "Yeahhhh, but it was meant to be temporary. That's what we're gathering from the intel squadron. He just used it until he got ahold of Sasuke. Thank goodness Sasuke went with Jiraiya-sama on that long training mission. Seriously it's good Naruto and Sasuke didn't stay. Way too many threats were looming around trying to find them."
Naruto looked at Neji. The situation earlier with the rookie Anbu came to his mind. "Is that why you snapped on that rookie like that? Is the village on high alert right now or something?"
Neji slowly nodded his head. "It was important that we knew the time and date you two were coming. Nice that I just so happen to be related to your love interest, we get a lot of specific, useful information. Of course after Hinata asks the two of you if it's okay. She's very picky about that, but they're not lying. You two are the prized possession of a lot of evil, twisted people."
Neji looked back at Hinata. "You deal with the intel and interrogation squadron a lot more than I do Hinata. I deal more with Nara on battlefield strategy and mission operations. So tell me, since I'm sure Shikamaru and Ino don't pillow talk with this kind of stuff. What's the prime goal of getting Orochimaru? Out of a terrorist organization threatening to crush this village and world. Danzo on some psychotic genocide rampage of dōjutsu users. Why is Orochimaru so important while he is in a weakened state right now?"
Hinata looked at Ino. Not sure if it was okay to share. Ino cleared her throat and looked at Neji, "I need to probe his head Neji. It's come to our attention that Orochimaru was in Akatsuki before. He disbanded after his failed attempt of getting Itachi's Sharingan. Apparently Danzo and Orochimaru failed at taking Itachi's Sharingan. So, they both go for the next best thing. Which is Sasuke. Orochimaru's head, shares a lot of intel. We could do wonders with what's stored in there."
Shikamaru looked at Ino. Not liking what he was hearing. "That man's head is twisted. It could end up damaging you Ino. Your dad gave the okay for this?"
Ino let out a sigh, "We understand that this project, if we get the opportunity, is going to be really hard. So, me and him will be working together. This is an all-hands-on deck opportunity Shikamaru. We can't pass it up. We have a lot of people helping us with this. A lot of people in the squadron have a dislike for Danzo as well, but he has his own goonies in our squadron that give him intel. Orochimaru has worked with Danzo as well, we can get a good case against Danzo if we probe Orochimaru. However to make sure there is no leakage of that information, we're just focused on the Akatsuki and 'protecting' Sasuke on paper."
Naruto listened to Ino and turned to look at Hinata, "You two have been working on this together all along. That's why you took the mission. Ino already told you about the mission, you didn't even need to be briefed or persuaded by Anko."
Naruto grinned at Hinata after connecting the dots. Hinata wanted to ensure Sasuke was okay, plus like she told them a while ago. She has an alliance with Itachi. "You're sneaky."
Neji gave a small smile at how Naruto and Hinata immediately clicked after being away for so long. He looked at Shikamaru with an arched brow, "So. If Naruto and Sasuke go on the mission with Kakashi, what are the chances you'll need me to go with Hinata?"
Shikamaru shrugged his shoulders, "Eh. Since I'll be making the formation and summarizing the mission. I'd say you're not needed. I can tell you're trying to get out of it anyways."
Shikamaru chuckled with Neji. He could easily tell Neji was trying to get out the dog house with Tenten and get out the mission. Neji shrugged his shoulders, not caring at being caught. "Okay. Good. If Naruto and Sasuke go, I'll see my way out of this mission. Team seven will be fine without me."
Hinata looked at Neji and blinked. It was rare she would go on an Anbu mission without Neji. Even though she says all the time she could do it without him.
Neji smiled at Hinata. An encouraging smile. "You'll be fine Hinata. Just make sure you separate the two. You'll be going as Anbu, not as a member of team seven. It'll be easier that way. That's how I separated it when I used to be put on a team with Lee, Guy-sensei or Tenten. I had to separate it."
Sasuke looked at Hinata as she nodded her head obediently at Neji. She still relied heavily on Neji, and Sasuke could tell Neji relied heavily on Hinata. Neji wouldn't have gotten so upset with Hinata leaving to confront Danzo if he didn't rely on her.
Soon the room relaxed again. Conversations that needed to be had was discussed and the Hookah smoke was filling up the room.
Naruto looked at Hinata amused as she handed him the Hookah pipe she was smoking from. "Me?" Hinata nodded her head excitedly, "I know you like popsicles Naruto-kun."
Naruto smiled at this and took the stick and inhaled. He had only did this once with Sasuke before and it was a nasty flavor. It was supposed to be caramel, but it came out wrong. This one tasted way better. "This is a nice one!"
Hinata eyes lit up as she looked at Naruto. She watched as he took another intake before he slowly placed it against her lips. Naruto bit his bottom lip as he watched Hinata latch on as she looked at him and took a breath. Naruto leaned over to kiss the corner of Hinata's lips as she let out the delicious smoke.
Sasuke watched the two of them. He inched closer to Hinata and let out a content sigh when he felt her lean her head on his shoulder. Naruto still in her personal space seductively smiling at her. In the past it was annoying to see Hinata always submit to Naruto's charm. Now to Sasuke it was alluring to watch them. It set the mood.
Hinata looked at Naruto with hooded eyes as he licked the corner of her mouth. She watched as he bit his bottom lip because he was tempted to turn the whole situation into something more personal. Naruto did look at Sasuke and the heated stare even made Sasuke a bit flustered. Naruto leaned over and whispered in Hinata's ear.
"I'm a man now Princess. There are a lot of things I want to show you. Can I show them to you?"
Naruto took another intake from the Hookah and let the smoke come out his nostrils as he watched Hinata nod her head as she looked at him in a daze. "Y-Yes." Naruto grinned at this and whispered in her ear again. "Don't be so obvious Princess. They don't need to know I'm talking about giving you pleasure."
His fingers played with Hinata's under the table. Hinata could feel Sasuke's hand rub the lower part of her back. Lightly griping her kimono from the back showing that he was becoming impatient and wanted to further things.
Hinata took the Hookah from Naruto and offered it to Sasuke. He looked at her with the same heated stare as Naruto before accepting it and inhaling. Hinata smiled at this and couldn't help but feel the shift in Naruto and Sasuke's personality.
Gone were the patient, light hearted and teasing boys she knew when they left Konoha. They were different now. Naruto lightly cupped Hinata's cheek and pulled her close to him as he continued to whisper in her ear. "Me and Sasuke don't have to hide what we want anymore. You said you were ready for us. Everything we have to offer."
Their love. Their demons. Their hate. Everything about them.
Hinata turned to look at Naruto and he kissed her. She immediately melted in the kiss and blocked out everyone in the room except Naruto and Sasuke.
Such power came from Naruto. Such dominance. He stole her breath away.
"Let's go Hinata. I can't wait anymore." Hinata looked at Naruto as he whispered this in her ear. She leaned her forehead against his and nodded her head with a joyful smile. Naruto returned the smile and pressed against her forehead.
"Yeah? You promise?" Hinata giggled at Naruto's silliness, but excitedly nodded her head yes.
It was going to be a fun night.
Neji watched as Sasuke stood up and took Hinata's hand gracefully to help her stand up. Hinata, stuck in whatever trance she was in, looked at Sasuke and left the room with him. Neji barely heard Hinata whisper for everyone to have a good night.
Naruto grinned at his dark-haired lovers before he looked at Neji, Shikamaru and Ino. "I hope you don't mind that we leave a little early. If you want I can leave a few clones behind to help you clean."
Neji smiled at Naruto because that was actually a nice gesture. "I'll take you up on that offer. You two be good to Hinata. You'll never meet a more caring person than Hinata. She holds you and Uchiha on a pedestal for some reason."
Naruto smiled as he stood up. "Hinata's my Princess for a reason Neji. She just doesn't know how much I'll do for her just yet." His smile turned back to a sinister grin as he stared at them.
Realistically. Naruto was listening to everything being said. He took multiple mental notes. Their first night back wouldn't touch the hard topics. It would be spent reconnecting, but Naruto wasn't letting any of this slide.
That monster Danzo hit Hinata in the face. Naruto wasn't letting that go at ALL.
"Let's not forget. Hinata's enemies are my enemies. Trust me when I say Hinata will never be hit in the face EVER again." With that Naruto left. Ino blinked and actually shook from a chill Naruto gave off when he left. Shikamaru looked at Naruto's retreating form before he looked at Neji.
"I see Naruto has decided to show his true colors. I guess Sasuke and Hinata are actually the nice ones."
