Maria's POV
Maria was in her room when Marta & Gretl barged in and said "Father's taking us out!"
Maria asked "And where might you be going?"
Gretl said "I don't know, he said we're going into town! We never go into town".
Maria said "Have fun".
Marta asked "Do you want to come fraulien?"
Maria said "Hmm no thanks".
Gretl asked "Why?"
Maria said "I've got a little headache".
Marta said "Maybe we should stay here and take care of you?"
Maria said "No I'll be fine go have fun with your father okay?"
Gretl said "Okay".
Marta asked "Would you like us to bring you back something?"
Maria said "No I'm alright now go have some fun".
The 2 youngest Von Trapps ran out the room.
The rest of the von Trapps came to say bye and left.

Maria said "Oh Max you startled me. Was I singing too loud?"
Max said "Loud is not the word I would use and that song is just perfect for you to sing and those note perfect... but right now we've got more important things to do".
Maria asked "What's wrong?"
Frederich, Marta and Gretl walked in. Marta and Gretl's eyes were puffy like they've been crying.
Gretl said "Father's dead".
Maria said "What?" Maria never thought she'd experience a heartbreak.
Frederich said "He's not dead he's hurt".
Max said "Now lets go!"
Maria, Max, Frederich, Marta and Gretl left.
Brigitta's POV
Marta & Gretl came back downstairs looking sad.
Gretl said "Fraulien doesn't wanna come with us this time".
Father had a disappointed look on his face and asked "Why?"
Marta said "Her head hurts".
Gretl asked "Can we bring her back something?"
Father said "Okay" and we left.
When we got in the car, Gretl asked "Where are we going?"
Father said "You'll see".
Brigitta said "I hope Fraulien's feeling better when we get back".
Gretl asked "Father why does Fraulien Maria have a headache?"
Father said "Not sure".
Father seemed like he was thinking about something serious.
Liesl said Father. Father! Father!"
Liesl continued yelling father louder each time, until he finally heard.
Father said "Huh?"
Liesl said "We're going in circles, we passed Sophia's café three times already".
Father mumbled "Sorry".
Gretl said "I wish fraulien Maria were here".
Father said "I just hope Max isn't doing exactly what I think he's doing".
Kurt asked "What?"
Liesl and Brigitta said "Talking her into singing in the festival".
Marta said "fraulien would be really great".
Brigitta said "And we'll all be cheering from the crowd".
Gretl asked "Father if fraulien sings in the festival will you come?"
Father said "It'll depend if she wants us there or not or hopefully she won't do it".
Marta asked "Why? Don't you think fraulien can sing?"
Father said "Heavens yes amazingly well".
Liesl and Brigitta exchanged look. Brigitta was happy she agreed to let Marta and Gretl help set up fraulien Maria with their father, is was less suspicious.
Father said "Okay we're here".
We stopped in front of a store. Father said "Well don't just stand there go in and pick out what you like".
Liesl squealed, by the time the rest of them got in the store Liesl had 5 different materials in her hands.
Brigitta started looking for material when she heard Liesl say something to their father.
Liesl said "Father wouldn't this look beautiful on fraulien?"
Father said "Ask your sister".
Liesl asked "Wouldn't this look beautiful on fraulien?"
Brigitta said "Oh beautiful indeed, what do you think father?"
Father said "Well I- it doesn't matter what I think. I'm going to check on the little ones" and walked away.
Liesl whispered "It's something. He stumbled over his words".
Louisa said "It doesn't matter the baroness will be back today".
Liesl said "It doesn't matter. All we have to do is get them alone before the baroness shows up".
"Get who alone before the baroness?"
Brigitta hoped their father didn't hear what they were discussing.
Marty said "You and me father".
Father said "Well of course... That's nice material".
Brigitta winked at Marta. Marta said "Its not for me father. Its for fraulien Maria to help your headache".
Father walked away again to check on everyone else.
Liesl sang "Love".
Louisa said "We know that already. What we don't know-"
Kurt whispered "Stop talking about that here".
Marta asked "Why?"
Kurt said "Because he stopped me to ask what you guys were up to and asked me if I knew anything about getting him alone with somebody".
Louisa said "Marta said it was her".
Kurt said "He didn't seem to convinced when he stopped me. So keep it quiet".
"Don't ask me anything about fraulien Maria".
Brigitta, Liesl, Marta, Kurt and Louisa looked up at their fathers' voice and saw Frederich.
Brigitta whispered "Maybe we're annoying him with questions about fraulien".
"Time to go".
Kurt asked "Can we go to Sophia's Café for lunch?"
Father asked "That's okay with everyone?"
All the children nodded and left.
After lunch Marta & Gretl asked father if we could bring something for fraulien Maria and we left.
While we were waiting to cross, father stopped Gretl from crossing "Rule number one about crossing the street!"
Gretl giggled "Look both ways".
Father said "That's right" and started walking backwards into the street, a car came and hit father as father rolled across the top landing in the street.
The children screamed "Father!"
A woman came out of the car "I'm so sorry. I didn't see him". The woman was beyond pannicked.
Liesl turned father on his back "Friederich take Marta and Gretl home, and send Uncle Max with the car, Brigitta, Louisa go to the hospital and get a doctor and have them meet us at the villa, Kurt call home let Uncle Max or fraulien know Friederich's on his way".
Brigitta and Louisa left a note for the best doctor in town Dr. Aigner. Uncle Max and Fraulien helped get father in the car safely, fathers' head was in fraulien's lap the whole way.
Louisa said "I wonder how the Baroness will react when she sees father like this".
Brigitta said "Surprised for sure".
Louisa said "She'll probably blame us because if father didn't take us out this wouldn't have happened".
Fraulien said "You don't know that Louisa". They finally arrived at the villa.
Maria's POV
When they got home, Maria was still in shock at the captains' condition. Max and Maria were holding the captain up when frau Schmidt came downstairs "Dr. Haas is upstairs in the master bedroom".
Maria and Max helped the captain upstairs and gently placed him on the bed.
"I'm Dr. Jana Jaas. How long ago was he injured?"
Max said "I don't know only the kids were with him, Liesl, the eldest called me about 20, 30 minutes ago".
Dr. Haas said "Now I'm not trying to give you any doubts or worries but with the side of this head wound on the back of his head it's a miracle he isn't dead. He probably would be if his head wasn't resting on your leg. (pointing at the skirt of Maria's dress that had a blood stain) A lot more blood would have came out".
Max said "Looks like you're a hero Maria".
Dr. Haas said "Well based on these charts, he's got a broken leg, and a major head wound, it's a miracle that's all that happened. And because of his head wound he'll need 24/7 attention but it'll cost extra, or I could just tell you what to do Baroness Von Trapp?"
Maria thought she thinks I'm the captain's wife, why? I look nothing like the Baroness or any Baroness.
Maria said "Oh I-".
Max said "Oh I'm sure she'll love to help".
Dr. Haas said "Well he might have a slight concussion so, it'll be wise to keep him awake for 24 hours, a pain killer every 4 hours and his bandages once a day, and he should stay off his leg for a couple of days or until the swelling goes down".
Max said "Thank you Dr. Haas. I'll mail you a check". Dr. Haas nodded and left.
Maria asked "How am I gonna take care of the captain?! I've got the children to worry about".
Max said "Easy. I'll watch over the children, while you and frau Schmidt take care of him until he's better besides frau Schmidt would prefer you over me as a medical assistant".
"Fraulien can we come in".
Maria said "Yeah but you can't stay long".
7 children walked through the door, the youngest two had puffy eyes.
Gretl sadly asked "Fraulien did I kill father?"
Maria said "No. Why would you think that that?"
Gretl sadly said "Because Kurt said that if I wasn't trying to cross and got hit and that it's my fault".
Maria said "It's no ones fault because none of you knew that would happen. Kurt apologize to Gretl right away".
Kurt said "I'm sorry Gretl, I was angry and it was wrong to blame you".
Louisa asked "How is he?"
Maria said "He's going to be fine. Frau Schmidt and I are going to take care of him".
Marta asked "Who's gonna take care of us?"
Max said "I will. Now out out out while frau Schmidt and fraulien take care of him".
The children walked out with Max. Frau Schmidt said "Fraulien, I can take the first shift if you'd like?"
Maria said "No, I'm alright. I'm just thinking of the children, they loss their mother and the captain just started reconnecting with them".
Frau Schmidt said "I know. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end".
Maria said "I hope so, I'll take this shift".
Frau Schmidt said "I'll have dinner up in a few hours and take my shift".
