"Why did they call so many times?" Wonders Ace.
"I don't know, I am going to call one of them back." Ace stands up for a second, picks up her wine and realizes it is no longer cold. Taking a few sips she leaves the room as Graham calls Ryan.
"What's wrong?"
"Yaz saw the Doctor, not the Doctor, Doctor, but a holographic version of her."
"Is she ok?"
"No, she is holding up on the couch trying not to cry."
"The Doc, did the same thing to Tegan and Ace, want me to see if they have had some similar experiences?"
"I think it should be the three of us tonight."
"It will be, but I will not lie to Ace why I am leaving."
"Ok, just please hurry."
"I will." Graham sighs as he gets up to find Ace. "Honey."
"What's wrong?" Ace meets Graham halfway through the kitchen seeing he is slightly distressed.
"Yaz's Doctor hologram activated for some reason and she isn't handling it well."
"Want me to come with you?"
"As much as I want you to, Ryan thinks right now it should just be the three of us. I told him that I wouldn't lie to you about why I was leaving."
"Thank you, I appreciate that."
"Most of this day wasn't that great."
"Most?" Ace says with one raised eyebrow.
Graham leans to her and gives her a small kiss, "that was the best part of the day."
"I agree," Ace grabs his hand, "you should leave."
"I know, call me if you need anything."
"I will," they walk to the door Graham grabs the handle, "Graham?"
"Yes?" Ace brings him to her and gives him a deep kiss.
"I just needed this."
"So did I, I will shoot you a message when I get there."
"You better." On the way back home Graham thinks about the make out session he just had with Ace.
'I hope you are ok with this Grace, I know you would want me to be happy and these past few months of getting to know Ace a part of me feels alive again.' Graham continues on his drive, his mind going to Yaz for the last stretch of it. As soon as he pulls up to the flats he shoots a text to Ace telling her that he arrived safely.
Graham walks into the flat that he and Ryan live in and his phone goes off; he knows Ace is thankful that he got home safe. "Yaz?"
"I saw her."
"I heard."
"I didn't think that would happen so quickly."
"According to everyone at the meetings you never know when you are going to see the Time Lord again."
"Not all of them had the Doctor implant them with something."
"No, but there are two others who had the implant."
"Did they feel the same way I did about the Doctor?"
"No, from what I can gather, Tegan had feelings for Nyssa, and Ace she looked at the Doctor like her best friend and parental figure or teacher."
"It's not the same then."
"No it's not." Graham sits next to her knowing what it feels like to be seeing someone you loved, but lost. "I haven't talked a lot about this, but until about 2 years ago I would think I saw Grace in many different places. The last time was when Ryan was learning how to ride his bike."
"Did it ever get easier?"
"I still have my days, though since I started getting to know Ace, they are fewer in between."
"She makes you happy?"
"She does," Graham looks to Ryan so he understands that Grace will always be in his heart.
"This was the first time I have ever felt like this for someone."
"It may have taken me years to find your Grace, but you Yaz are amazing and will find someone to love who loves you just as much."
"I was about ready to move on and then I rubbed my shoulder as I got a pain in it, and bam, she showed up."
"Yaz," Ryan sits down on her other side, "the Doctor would want you to move on."
"He's right," says a female voice, they all look up to see their Doctor standing in front of them.
Graham stands up, "you need to go Doc, can't you see that seeing you again is hurting Yaz."
"I see that, I only want her to be happy like you are with Ace."
"How do you know about that?"
"This chip in the three of you," the Doctor looks at Yaz, "is slightly connected and I can feel the happiness in all of you, well two of you." Graham hopes that the Doctor isn't checking up on Ace at certain times, like right before he left. Ryan looks over at Graham and sees the blush growing on his face.
"Just how happy are you making her?"
"Ryan, he wasn't paying attention to his phone, what would be the one reason he wasn't paying attention to it." The Doctor pops out again as she sees Yaz perking up at the chance to tease the two.
Across town Ace is getting ready for bed realizing that her shoulder is sore, she rubs said shoulder. "Ace."
"What?"
"Hello."
"Professor, what are you doing here?"
"You pressed your shoulder."
"So it is a little sore, when I was laying down earlier and changing before, and I just wanted to rub it."
"What was there to distract you?"
"Graham," Ace smiles.
"I am glad you are happy with him."
"I am happy."
"You are happier than I have ever seen you Ace. Just be careful where his hand goes."
"PROFESSOR!"
"When the two of you are alone, please make sure it doesn't touch your right shoulder."
"Professor, do you only have this conversation with me, or Tegan, the one who is married that has probably more than kissed someone in the past month."
"Ace, your clothes are askew, you two more than kissed."
"We only made out and we are not kids anymore. You never even knew Graham when he was one. You may have known me as a teenager, but you should know I wasn't even a virgin by the time I got swept up in the time storm."
"Please don't say that."
"You don't like that Professor, you probably won't like the fact I spent a healthy portion of a half hour making out with Graham and I got to feel his hands on my skin as they went under my shirt."
The Doctor disappears groaning as Ace laughs and heads to bed having pleasant dreams of her and Graham.
