Chapter 3: Queen Lumera's Test
As Lumera, Alear, and Kiran stepped inside the Ring Vault, their eyes widened in awe at the sight before them. The room was adorned with magnificent statues of the Heroes that Kiran had summoned back in Zenith. It was a truly breathtaking sight.
Kiran couldn't help but look around, his gaze lingering on each statue. "These are the Heroes I summoned," he murmured, a mix of pride and nostalgia in his voice. The realization of the impact he had made in bringing these legendary figures to life filled him with a sense of purpose.
Lumera, the wise guardian of the Ring Vault, spoke up, her voice resonating with reverence. "Welcome to the Ring Vault. Here, the Emblem Rings are enshrined," she explained, her tone filled with a deep respect for the sacred artifacts that rested within these walls.
She continued, listing the names of the revered rings. "The Rings of the Holy Night, of the Sage Lord, and of the Azure twins rest here, along with the Ring of the Princess Exalt and, finally, the Ring of the Instructor," Lumera explained, each name carrying a weight of significance.
Kiran's eyes widened with recognition. "I've heard of some of these titles," he said, his voice filled with excitement. The stories and legends associated with these rings had reached his ears during his time as a Summoner.
Alear, ever observant, turned to Kiran, a curious expression on her face. "You recognize these titles because you summoned their true forms as Heroes, didn't you?" she asked, seeking confirmation of her suspicion.
Kiran nodded, a smile playing on his lips. "Yes, Alear, you're right. I did summon them as Heroes," he replied, pride and gratitude evident in his voice. It was a testament to the bonds he had formed with these legendary beings.
Lumera interjected, her voice carrying a note of solemnity. "Within Lythos, there are six Emblem Rings in total," she explained. "The Ring of the Hero-King, which you possess, Alear, and the remaining six were entrusted to the other nations of Elyos as a precautionary measure."
Alear's grip tightened around the Ring of the Hero-King, a sense of responsibility settling upon her shoulders. She understood the significance of her possession and the role she played in safeguarding the legacy of the Emblem Rings.
Alear furrowed her brow, her curiosity getting the better of her. "Lumera, why did you entrust the remaining Emblem Rings to other nations in Elyos?" she asked, her voice tinged with both confusion and a hint of concern.
Lumera's eyes softened as she regarded Alear, understanding the weight of her question. "The Emblem Rings hold incredible power," Lumera began, her voice filled with caution. "When all 12 of them are brought together, the one who holds them gains unimaginable strength."
Alear's eyes widened, realization dawning upon her. "So, by scattering the Emblem Rings across Elyos, you prevent any one person from obtaining all of them and wielding such power," she surmised with her tone a mix of awe and understanding.
Kiran, always quick to contribute, chimed in, his voice thoughtful. "That makes a lot of sense. It would be dangerous to have all 12 Emblem Rings in one place," he commented, his words carrying a sense of logic.
Lumera nodded approvingly. "Indeed, Kiran. The allure of the Emblem Rings is immense, and many would seek to use them for nefarious purposes. By dispersing them, we minimize the risk of such power falling into the wrong hands," she explained, her voice filled with a sense of responsibility.
Kiran's eyes glinted with a newfound appreciation for Lumera's wisdom. "That's a wise precaution," he acknowledged, his voice reflecting his admiration for Lumera's foresight.
Lumera's gaze shifted to Kiran, a gentle smile on her lips. "Your understanding is correct, Kiran. However, it is important to note that the Emblem Rings only offer their power once every 1000 years," she added, her voice tinged with a hint of solemnity.
Kiran's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Once every 1000 years? That's quite a long interval," he remarked, his voice laced with curiosity.
Lumera nodded, her expression grave. "Yes, Kiran. It is during that time that the Divine Dragon travels across Elyos, collecting the Emblem Rings from each nation's ruler," she explained, her words carrying a weight of ancient tradition.
Alear's eyes widened in realization. "So, since 1000 years have passed, you were planning to carry out this ritual yourself," she surmised, her voice filled with a mix of awe and concern.
Lumera's gaze met Alear's, a flicker of sadness in her eyes. "Indeed, Alear. However, with the appearance of the Fell Dragon Sombron, the situation has changed. If Sombron is after the Emblem Rings, there is a possibility that the Emblems may be summoned before I can arrive," she admitted, her voice tinged with a sense of urgency.
As the weight of Lumera's words settled upon them, the trio exchanged concerned glances. The fate of the Emblem Rings and the world they held dear hung in the balance, their mission now more crucial than ever.
Alear's mind raced as she considered the connection between Emblems and Heroes. "It's fascinating," she mused, her voice laced with wonder. "Both Emblems and Heroes can be summoned using mystical items like the Emblem Rings and the Breidablik, right?"
Lumera nodded, a knowing smile on her lips. "Indeed, Alear," she confirmed, her voice filled with wisdom. "Just as Kiran summons Heroes from his Breidablik, you have the power to call forth an Emblem from your Ring, just as you did earlier with Emblem Marth."
Alear's eyes widened in surprise, her mind struggling to grasp the magnitude of what Lumera was saying. "Wait, so you mean I can summon Emblems?" she blurted out, her voice a mix of excitement and disbelief.
Lumera's gaze met Alear's, her expression serene. "Yes, my dear Alear," she replied, her voice filled with a sense of certainty. "Only those with royal dragon blood, like you and me, possess the ability to call forth Emblems from their Rings."
Alear's heart raced, her thoughts swirling with newfound possibilities. "But... how?" she stammered, her voice filled with a mix of curiosity and anticipation.
Lumera leaned forward, her eyes sparkling with ancient knowledge. "Do you recall the phrase you uttered when you called forth Emblem Marth?" she asked, her voice soft yet commanding.
Alear's brows furrowed in concentration as she struggled to remember. And then, a flicker of recollection sparked within her. "I... I said, 'Shine on, Emblem of Beginnings!'" she exclaimed, her voice filled with realization.
Lumera's smile widened, her voice filled with affirmation. "Yes, Alear. That phrase, 'Shine on, Emblem of Beginnings,' is indeed an invocation. It is the key to awakening and calling forth the power of the Emblems," she explained, her words carrying a weight of ancient magic.
Alear's mind raced with excitement, her heart pounding in her chest. The realization that she held the power to summon Emblems ignited a fire within her. "This... this changes everything," she whispered, her voice filled with a mix of awe and determination.
Lumera's voice resonated with certainty as she addressed Alear and Kiran. "The words you spoke, Alear, to call forth Emblem Marth were indeed an invocation," she confirmed, her tone filled with ancient wisdom.
Alear's eyes widened in awe, her mind grappling with the significance of her discovery. "So, it was an invocation?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.
Lumera nodded, her gaze steady and unwavering. "Yes, my dear Alear. Through your words, you tapped into the power of the Emblems and summoned their strength to aid you," she explained, her voice carrying a weight of profound knowledge.
Curiosity sparked within Alear as Lumera's words sank in. "But... why did I speak those words? What was my intention?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of introspection.
Lumera regarded Alear with a knowing smile, her eyes filled with compassion. "Tell me, Alear, what were your intentions when you invoked Emblem Marth?" she inquired, her voice gentle yet probing.
Alear's mind drifted back to the moment when she had called forth the Emblem, her thoughts filled with the urgency to protect her friends. "I... I wanted to help Clanne, Framme, and Kiran," she replied, her voice laced with determination. "They were fighting against the Corrupted, and I didn't want to lose them. I wanted to protect them."
Lumera's smile deepened, her voice filled with warmth. "Your focus was on helping others, Alear," she remarked, her words carrying a profound truth. "That is a noble intention, one that should guide you whenever you call forth the Emblems."
Alear nodded, a sense of purpose settling within her. "I understand, Lumera," she replied, her voice steady with newfound resolve. "I will remember my intention to help others whenever I summon the power of the Emblems. I won't use their strength selfishly."
Lumera's eyes glimmered with pride as she listened to Alear's words. "That is the path of the Divine Dragon," she said, her voice filled with admiration. "Remember, Alear, the Emblems are not a tool for personal gain, but a force to protect and uplift those around you. Let that intention guide you, and you will wield their power with honor and compassion."
Alear's heart swelled with gratitude for Lumera's guidance. She knew that her journey was just beginning, and with Lumera's wisdom, she would strive to be a beacon of light in a world plagued by darkness. The power of the Emblems was now hers to wield, and she would do so with unwavering dedication to her purpose.
Lumera's gaze shifted towards Kiran, her expression filled with concern. "Kiran, your ability to summon Heroes is akin to how Alear and I call forth the Emblems," she began, her voice tinged with urgency. "It is almost certain that Fell Dragon Sombron and his forces will seek you and your Breidablik."
Kiran's eyes widened at the mention of Sombron's name, his mind racing with the implications. "You mean Sombron would come after me if he learns about the Emblem Rings?" he asked, his voice laced with a mix of fear and determination.
Lumera nodded solemnly, her voice filled with caution. "Yes, Kiran. Once Sombron learns of your ability to summon Heroes, you become a target," she explained, her tone carrying the weight of experience.
Kiran's grip on his Breidablik tightened, his resolve hardening. "There have been multiple attempts to kidnap me and harness my ability to summon Heroes, but with the help of the Order of Heroes, I have managed to thwart them." he declared, his voice firm with determination.
Alear, unable to stay silent any longer, spoke up. "Kiran, I swear upon my Stewards and everything I hold dear, we will do everything in our power to safeguard you from Fell Dragon Sombron," she vowed, her voice brimming with loyalty and conviction.
Kiran turned his gaze towards Alear, gratitude shining in his eyes. "Thank you, Alear. Your words mean a lot to me," he said, his voice filled with heartfelt appreciation.
Lumera interjected, her voice filled with a hint of excitement. "Perhaps, to assess your abilities, we should have a practice battle in Lythos Castle," she suggested, her eyes glimmering with curiosity. "And Kiran, I am also eager to witness your ability to summon Heroes firsthand."
Kiran's face lit up with a mix of anticipation and determination. "I agree, Queen Lumera," he replied, his voice tinged with newfound confidence.
"Yes, I can't wait to have both Emblems and Heroes side by side in battle once again," Alear smiled.
As the trio made their way towards Lythos Castle, a sense of purpose and unity settled within them. They were prepared to face whatever challenges lay ahead, to protect their friends, and to ensure that the power they wielded remained a force for good. Little did they know that their journey would not only test their abilities but also forge unbreakable bonds and reveal hidden truths that would reshape the fate of their world.
Meanwhile in Zenith, specifically within the grand Kingdom of Askr, a peculiar phenomenon unfolded. A new Outrealm Gate materialized just a few miles outside the towering walls of Askr Castle.
As word spread of the Outrealm Gate's spontaneous existence, the Order of Heroes swiftly gathered to investigate this unexpected occurrence. Among their ranks stood Alfonse, Sharena, Commander Anna, Marth, and even the resilient Nifl Princess Fjorm.
As the Order of Heroes stood near the aforementioned Outrealm Gate, Commander Anna turned her attention to Marth, the Altean Prince, as she saw Marth's expression grow with concern.
Anna, ever the inquisitive leader, broke the silence. "Marth, does the energy emanating from this Outrealm Gate remind you of when you were summoned to Elyos by Kiran?" she queried, her eyes filled with curiosity.
Marth nodded, his gaze fixed upon the mysterious gate. "Yes, Commander Anna, the energies are undoubtedly reminiscent of the ones I felt during my summoning," he confirmed, his voice carrying a tinge of nostalgia.
Fjorm, her presence as regal as ever, added her insight. "There is no doubt, this Outrealm Gate leads to the world of Elyos. I hope Kiran is doing well in Elyos," She stated, her voice steady and resolute.
Alfonse, always the observant strategist, interjected, his brow furrowed in thought. "However," he began, his tone cautious, "the flow of energy within the gate appears too feeble for us to enter safely."
Anna sighed, her voice tinged with disappointment. "It seems we will require more time before we can travel to Elyos and lend aid to our Summoner, Kiran," she lamented, her shoulders slumping ever so slightly.
Sharena, the embodiment of unwavering optimism, couldn't bear to see her comrades disheartened. With a bright smile, she chimed in, her voice filled with determination. "Come on, everyone! We shouldn't lose hope. We must believe in Kiran, in ourselves, and our abilities. Everything will turn out fine," She cheered as her words were a beacon of hope in the face of uncertainty.
Her words breathed new life into the weary heroes. As they stood before the enigmatic Outrealm Gate, a renewed sense of purpose surged within them. They knew that their journey to Elyos to rescue or even assist Kiran would be fraught with challenges, but their unwavering faith in Kiran, coupled with their unbreakable bond as the Order of Heroes, would guide them through the trials ahead.
Little did they know that their path would be filled with unexpected alliances, formidable adversaries, and the unraveling of ancient prophecies that would forever shape the fate of both Zenith and Elyos.
Back at Elyos, the doors of the Ring Vault swung open, and Lumera, Alear, and Kiran emerged, accompanied by Vander, Clanne, and Framme. Together, they made their way to the sunlit courtyard of Lythos Castle, their footsteps echoing against the stone floors.
Lumera, her regal presence commanding attention, broke the silence. "Alear, Kiran, I propose a mock battle within the castle courtyard. Your opponent will be... me," Dhe declared, her voice carrying an air of determination. "Alear and Kiran, you two must strengthen your bodies and minds to better handle your Emblems and Heroes."
Alear, her eyes glinting with excitement, nodded in agreement. "Yes, Lumera, that sounds like an excellent idea," She affirmed, her voice brimming with anticipation.
Kiran, ever the tactician, couldn't help but smile at the prospect. "A mock battle will undoubtedly sharpen our skills and test our strategies," He chimed in, his voice steady and analytical.
Lumera turned to Vander, her gaze unwavering. "Vander, Clanne, and Framme, I will allow you to aid Alear and Kiran in this mock battle... against me," She stated, her words carrying a sense of authority.
Vander reined in his horse as he hesitated, his brow furrowed. "But...drawing my weapon against you, Queen Lumera... I am hesitant," he confessed, his loyalty evident in his voice.
Lumera met Vander's gaze, her expression firm. "As Alear's Steward, you, along with Clanne and Framme, must give your all in this mock battle," she replied, her voice laced with conviction. "It is for the betterment of Alear and the kingdom."
With a sigh, Vander relented, his shoulders slumping. "Very well, Queen Lumera. I will comply with your request," he conceded, his voice tinged with resignation.
Clanne, unable to contain his excitement, interjected, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. "A mock battle, you say? This will be a thrilling experience!" he exclaimed, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
Framme, ever composed, spoke up, her voice filled with unwavering dedication. "If this is what Queen Lumera desires, then I shall do my part as the Divine One's Steward," she affirmed, her words a testament to her unwavering loyalty.
Lumera stood at the center of the courtyard, her eyes closed in deep concentration. As her hands clasped together in prayer, a surge of energy rippled through the air. In a dazzling flash of light, two figures materialized before Alear, her three Stewards, and Kiran.
The soldiers, one male, and one female, stood tall and proud in their white armor. Their hair and eyes shimmered with a striking shade of blue, mirroring the serene waters of a tranquil lake. Alear's breath caught in her throat as she gazed upon them, her eyes wide with awe.
"Lumera," Alear whispered, her voice filled with both wonder and concern. "Are these two soldiers... Corrupted?"
Lumera opened her eyes, her gaze filled with compassion. "No, Alear," she reassured, her voice gentle yet resolute. "These soldiers are not Corrupted. They are Fabrications, artificial constructs created from plants and rocks. However, their fighting prowess is equal to that of the Corrupted."
Kiran, ever perceptive, aimed the Breidablik at the two Fabrications in case there's any four magic lingering in their bodies. As the tip of the Breidablik glowed in a soft, white light, confirming Kiran's suspicions.
As he holstered his Breidablik, Kiran then spoke up, his voice calm and measured. "I sense no trace of foul magic in these Fabrications," He affirmed, his eyes scanning their forms. "They are free from corruption."
A sense of relief washed over Alear's features, her tense shoulders relaxing. "That's a relief," she admitted, her voice tinged with gratitude. "Knowing that they are not Corrupted makes it easier to accept them as opponents in our mock battle."
The two Fabrications stood silently, their presence imposing yet strangely serene. Their blue eyes gazed ahead, unwavering in their purpose, as if they were ready to uphold their duty and face any challenge that lay before them.
Lumera, her voice filled with determination, addressed the group. "These Fabrications will test your skills," She proclaimed, her words echoing through the courtyard. "They will push you to your limits and help you grow stronger. Embrace this opportunity and face them with all your might."
Alear nodded, a newfound resolve shining in her eyes. "We will not hold back," she declared, her voice filled with determination. "We will face them head-on and emerge victorious."
Clanne, always direct and unyielding, spoke up first. "I'll use my Body Arts to smack any enemy that stands in our way," she declared, her voice filled with confidence. "They won't know what hit them."
Framme, the healer of the group, nodded in agreement. "And I'll be right behind you, Clanne," he chimed in, his voice calm and reassuring. "I'll patch up any wounds and keep us going strong."
Vander, the stoic and reserved Steward, let out a huff of frustration. "I'm reluctant to draw my weapon against Queen Lumera," he admitted, his voice laced with conflict. "But I suppose it's fortunate that this is only a mock battle. I won't hold back."
Kiran, the Summoner from the World of Zenith, spoke up, his words filled with quiet confidence. "If push comes to shove, Alear, we can always summon our Emblems and Heroes," he suggested, his eyes glimmering with determination. "That will even the odds."
Alear felt a swell of gratitude and admiration for her loyal companions. They had proven time and again that they would stand by her side, no matter the odds. She turned to them, her voice filled with emotion.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. "Thank you, Clanne, for your unwavering strength. Framme, for your healing touch. Vander, for your reluctant courage. And Kiran, for your unwavering support and guidance."
The room fell silent for a moment, the weight of their shared purpose settling upon them. Alear closed her eyes as she appreciated the support that her 3 Stewards. Then, she glanced at Kiran, the Summoner for the Order of Heroes, who was smiling at her, with his eyes gleaming in determination.
Alear swore that once peace was established in Elyos once again, she would do anything in her power to be summoned by the Breidablik as a Hero and to be inducted into the Order of Heroes. Alear swore internally that she would make good on that promise.
Alear took a deep breath, her resolve solidifying. "Let's give it our all," she declared, her voice steady and determined. "We'll face this mock battle with everything we have. Together, we will emerge victorious."
Lumera observed the camaraderie between Alear, her three Stewards, and Kiran, a mixture of pride and anticipation filling her heart. She knew that this mock battle would test their skills and resilience like never before. With a commanding presence, she addressed the group.
"The time for talk is over," Lumera announced, her voice carrying authority. "The mock battle begins now."
Alear and her Stewards wasted no time, their weapons at the ready, fully prepared to face the challenge ahead. Kiran unholstered his Breidablik, a powerful tool in his possession, as they positioned themselves to confront Lumera and her two Fabrications.
As the mock battle commenced, Vander charged forward on his horse, his Iron Lance gleaming in the sunlight. The male Fabrication, quick to respond, drew a Sword, meeting Vander's attack head-on. The clash of metal reverberated through the training grounds.
Meanwhile, Framme dashed towards the female Fabrication, her fists clenched tight, ready to unleash her formidable strength. The air crackled with energy as she closed the distance between them.
Amidst the chaos of battle, Clanne's voice rang out, directing her words to Alear. "We have to confront Queen Lumera," she declared with determination, her eyes fixed on their formidable opponent.
Kiran, always calm and composed, responded to Clanne's words. "Thank you, Clanne, Vander, and Framme," he acknowledged, gratitude lacing his voice. "You have opened the way for us to face Queen Lumera."
Alear, fully aware of the stakes, spoke up, her voice filled with concern for her comrades. "Clanne, if Vander and Framme are injured, you must heal them," she instructed, emphasizing the importance of their well-being.
Clanne nodded in agreement, her resolve unwavering. "I will tend to them," she affirmed, her voice laced with determination. "No matter what, we will support each other."
With their plans set and their determination ignited, Alear and Kiran exchanged a brief glance before sprinting towards Queen Lumera, their weapons drawn and ready for battle. The weight of their responsibility settled upon them, but they stood tall, united in their purpose.
As they closed in on Lumera, the clash of weapons, the shouts, and the cries of battle filled the air. Lumera's smile widened as she watched Alear and Kiran charge towards her, their weapons gleaming in the sunlight. The anticipation of battle coursed through her veins, fueling her every move. She addressed both of them, her voice laced with confidence.
"There's no need to hold back against me," Lumera declared, her eyes shining with determination. "Prepare yourselves."
With a swift motion, she drew her blade, the legendary Libération, from its sheath. The weapon hummed with power, mirroring the intensity of the upcoming clash.
Lumera wasted no time, dashing towards Alear with a lightning speed that belied her regal stature. Her blade slashed through the air, aimed at Alear's defenses. She struck twice, each attack executed with precision and intent.
But Alear, a skilled warrior in her own right, was not easily bested. With a swift movement of her weapon, she parried both of Lumera's strikes, her blade meeting Libération with a resounding clash. Alear's riposte followed, which was a calculated move that caught Lumera off guard.
The force of Alear's counterattack sent Lumera stumbling back, her feet slipping on the ground as she tried to regain her balance. A flicker of surprise crossed her features before she regained her composure.
Impressed by Alear's skill, Lumera smiled, a glimmer of admiration in her eyes. "Well done, Alear," she acknowledged, her voice tinged with respect. "You have a formidable defense."
"Thank you... mother," Alear huffed as she steadied her Iron Sword, knowing firsthand that Queen Lumera hits quite hard.
With a quick turn, Lumera shifted her attention towards Kiran, her gaze sharp and piercing. She posed a question, challenging him to prove his mettle.
"And what about you, Kiran?" Lumera asked, her voice laced with a hint of anticipation. "Can you withstand my assault?"
Kiran's eyes met Lumera's, his own determination shining through. "I will give it my all," he replied, his voice steady and unwavering. "I will not falter."
As Lumera lunged towards him, Kiran's mind raced with possibilities. He weighed his options, contemplating whether to use the Breidablik's default "Dire" form or something more unconventional. And then, in an instant, an idea sparked in his mind.
As Lumera swung her mighty sword, Libération, towards Kiran, he swiftly sidestepped her attack. In one fluid motion, he raised his arm and unleashed a blast from his Breidablik, aiming it directly at Lumera. The energy surged forward, hurtling towards its target.
But Lumera was no ordinary warrior. With lightning-fast reflexes, she reacted, using Libération to block the incoming blast. The clash of power sent sparks flying, but Lumera's defense held strong.
Undeterred, Lumera pressed on, attempting to strike Kiran once again. However, Kiran had anticipated her move. In a dazzling display of power, his Breidablik glowed with an intense burst of light, transforming into the Sword Breidablik.
With the Sword Breidablik firmly in his grasp, Kiran met Lumera's second slash head-on. Their blades collided with a resounding clash, each force pushing against the other. But Kiran was not content with just defending.
Seizing the opportunity, Kiran swiftly countered with a riposte attack, mirroring his earlier move with Alear. The force behind his strike caught Lumera off guard, sending her flying several feet away. The impact reverberated through the air, leaving a momentary silence in its wake.
Lumera quickly regained her footing, her eyes blazing with renewed determination. She smiled, a mix of excitement and respect for her opponent was evident in her expression.
As Lumera rose to her feet, a smile spread across her face. She extended a hand towards Kiran, congratulating him on his resilience. "Well done, Kiran. You've withstood my attacks admirably," she commended.
Kiran accepted her hand, a sense of pride swelling within him. "Thank you, Lumera. Your strength is truly formidable," he replied, returning the compliment.
Curiosity piqued, Lumera couldn't help but wonder aloud. "I must admit, I'm intrigued. How is it that your Breidablik can transform into a sword?"
Alear, who had been observing the battle closely, chimed in. "I'm just as surprised as you, Lumera. I had no idea the Breidablik had such capabilities."
Kiran took a moment to collect his thoughts before addressing both Lumera and Alear. "The default form of the Breidablik is known as the Dire Breidablik," he explained. "But it has the ability to assume at least six other forms, one of which is the Sword Breidablik."
Lumera's gaze flickered towards the three Stewards, Vander and Framme, who had already vanquished their Fabricated opponents. She admired their efficiency before turning her attention back to Kiran. With a smile, she acknowledged the power of Kiran and his Breidablik. "You and your weapon are indeed a formidable combination, Kiran," Lumera admitted.
Kiran's confidence grew, fueled by Lumera's recognition. "Thank you, Lumera. It's an honor to face you in battle," he replied, his voice filled with determination.
Lumera's smile widened as she spoke, her eyes shimmering with excitement. "The second phase of our mock battle is about to begin," she announced. "Let's push each other to our limits and see who emerges victorious."
Kiran's heart raced with anticipation. The prospect of facing Lumera in the next phase exhilarated him. He knew that this battle would test his skills and push him beyond his limits.
As the three Stewards regrouped with Alear and Kiran, the atmosphere crackled with electricity. The mock battle was far from over, and the true test of their abilities was about to begin.
Meanwhile, in the outskirts of the Kingdom of Askr, Fjorm led the group of four Heroes from the World of Jugdral, their steps determined as they approached the Elyos Outrealm Gate. Sigurd, ever the inquisitive one, turned to Fjorm and posed a question.
"Princess Fjorm, is this the fabled Outrealm Gate that appeared in Askr a few hours ago?" Sigurd asked, his voice tinged with curiosity.
Fjorm nodded, her expression serious yet filled with a hint of awe. "Yes, Sigurd. This is indeed the very gate that has captured the attention of Askr," She confirmed, her voice carrying a weight of responsibility.
Deirdre, Sigurd's wife, interjected softly. Her ethereal presence radiated tranquility as she spoke. "I sense no malignant energy emanating from the Elyos Outrealm Gate," she offered, her words soothing the growing unease within the group.
Ethlyn, Sigurd's sister, couldn't help but voice her concerns. Worry etched across her face as she spoke. "I hope Kiran, our Summoner, is doing alright in Elyos," she said, her voice tinged with fear for their leader's well-being.
Quan, Ethlyn's husband, wrapped a comforting arm around her, his voice filled with reassurance.
"We must have faith in Kiran, Ethlyn. Just as Kiran believes in us, we should believe in him," Quan said, his words a balm to the worried hearts of their group.
Fjorm's eyes glimmered with determination as she addressed the Heroes from Jugdral. "Our goal to rescue and assist Kiran himself carries many great risks, but we must press on," she declared, her voice resolute. "As Heroes, it is our duty to face the challenges that lie ahead and protect the realms we hold dear."
Sigurd, his gaze fixed on the Elyos Outrealm Gate, nodded in agreement. "You're right, Princess Fjorm. We cannot let fear deter us. With our combined strength and the support of our Summoner, we will prevail," he asserted, his voice brimming with unwavering conviction.
As the group stared at the Elyos Outrealm Gate, their determination grew stronger. The fate of both Zenith and Elyos hung in the balance, and each of them silently hope that Kiran, the Summoner that each of them held near and dear, was doing alright in Elyos.
Lumera gracefully leaped towards the center of the Lythos Castle courtyard, her movements fluid and filled with purpose. As she regained her balance and stood tall, she addressed the group assembled before her - Alear, Kiran, Vander, Clanne, and Framme. Her voice carried a sense of anticipation as she announced the beginning of the second phase of the mock battle.
"The time has come," Lumera declared, her eyes shining with excitement. "The second phase of the mock battle is upon us."
Curiosity sparked in the eyes of her comrades as they turned their attention to her. Lumera held up a ring, its intricate design catching the light. "Behold," she said, her voice filled with a mix of pride and reverence. "I will be utilizing this Emblem Ring for the battle."
Alear, ever perceptive, recognized the ring instantly. Her voice held a note of surprise as she spoke. "Lumera, is that... the Ring of the Holy Knight?"
A smile tugged at Lumera's lips as she confirmed Alear's question. "Indeed, Alear. You have a keen eye," she replied, her voice tinged with admiration. "This is the very Ring of the Holy Knight that has been passed down through generations."
Excitement rippled through the group as they exchanged glances. The anticipation of witnessing the summoning of Emblem Sigurd, a legendary hero, was palpable in the air. Lumera, her eyes shining with determination, addressed them all.
"With the power of this Emblem Ring, I will summon Emblem Sigurd for our mock battle," Lumera declared, her voice filled with unwavering confidence. "He will aid us in our training and push us to new heights."
Kiran, the group's strategist, nodded approvingly. "A wise choice, Lumera," He said, his voice calm yet filled with appreciation. "Emblem Sigurd's presence will undoubtedly elevate our training and help us become even stronger."
Vander, his muscles flexing with anticipation, cracked a smile. "So, Queen Lumera is about to bring forth Emblem Sigurd," He muttered, excitement lacing his voice.
Clanne, the group's healer, offered a reassuring smile. "We will learn from his strength and become better warriors ourselves," He said, her voice filled with determination.
Framme, known for her energetic demeanor, nodded in agreement. "Together, we will face any challenge that comes our way," She said, his words carrying a quiet resolve.
As Lumera slipped the Emblem Ring onto her finger, the courtyard seemed to buzz with energy. The air crackled with anticipation, and each member of the group prepared themselves for the arrival of Emblem Sigurd. Lumera stood at the center of the courtyard, the Ring of the Holy Knight adorning her right hand. With a sense of reverence, she clasped her hands together, her eyes closed in deep concentration. The air crackled with anticipation as the ring emitted a pulsating blue energy, illuminating the surroundings.
Before the eyes of Alear, her three Stewards, and Kiran himself, a blinding flash of light erupted from the ring. As the light faded, Emblem Sigurd materialized, seated atop a magnificent white horse. The legendary hero's presence was awe-inspiring, his armor gleaming in the sunlight.
Emblem Sigurd spoke with a voice that resonated with power and authority. "I am Emblem Sigurd," he proclaimed, his voice carrying a sense of confidence. "If strength and swiftness are what you seek, I am more than willing to assist."
Alear, always quick to assess a situation, spoke up. "Emblem Sigurd, you are a formidable opponent," she acknowledged, her tone filled with respect. "Your presence in this mock battle will undoubtedly raise the stakes."
Kiran, the Summoner, observed Emblem Sigurd closely. "It's fascinating," He remarked, his voice tinged with curiosity. "You bear an uncanny resemblance to the Sigurd I have summoned as a Hero."
Lumera nodded, her gaze fixed on Emblem Sigurd. "Indeed, Kiran," she agreed, her voice filled with certainty. "Each Emblem possesses their own unique abilities and strengths."
A sense of excitement filled the courtyard as Lumera continued, her voice brimming with enthusiasm. "Alear, remember how you can call upon the power and skills of Emblem Marth?" she asked, her eyes shining with anticipation.
Alear nodded, a determined expression on her face. "Yes, mother," She replied, her voice resolute. "I will harness the power of Emblem Marth and fight alongside him in this mock battle."
Suddenly, the peaceful atmosphere of the courtyard was shattered as several more Fabrications appeared, ready to assist Queen Lumera in the upcoming battle. Each of them radiated a different aura, their presence adding to the growing anticipation.
As Alear tightened her grip on the Emblem Ring in her left hand, a surge of energy pulsed through her. Emblem Marth materialized before her, his presence comforting and familiar. He spoke to her in a voice that only she could hear, their connection deep and intimate.
"Alear, fear not," Emblem Marth reassured her, his voice filled with unwavering determination. "I am here to assist you in this battle, just as I always have."
Kiran, ever the strategist, interjected. "Queen Lumera and her Fabrications won't wait forever," he reminded them, his tone urgent. "We must act swiftly and decisively."
Alear nodded, her eyes focused on the approaching Fabrications. Time seemed to slow down as the enemy lunged towards them, their intentions clear. Without hesitation, Alear leaped into action, striking one of the Fabrications with her Iron Sword, her movements swift and precise.
Vander, mounted on his loyal steed, followed Alear's lead. He charged forward, his Iron Lance poised to strike. With a deft maneuver, he landed a powerful blow on one of the Fabrications, sending it sprawling to the ground.
Framme, nimble and agile, dashed towards a Fabrication armed with a bow. The enemy took aim and fired an arrow, but Framme's reflexes were razor-sharp. She gracefully evaded the projectile and closed the distance, engaging the Fabrication in fierce hand-to-hand combat. With a flurry of blows, she landed a decisive strike on her opponent.
Clanne, ever the supportive sibling, rushed to Framme's side. As he drew out his Fire tome, he conjured a blazing fireball that streaked towards the damaged Fabrication. The flames engulfed the enemy, reducing it to ashes in an instant.
Framme turned to her twin brother, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you, Clanne," she expressed, her voice filled with appreciation. "You always have my back."
Clanne nodded, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "We are a team, Framme," he replied, his voice warm. "Together, we can overcome any challenge."
As the Fabrication lunged towards Kiran, its Iron Axe gleaming with malevolence, Kiran's instincts kicked in. Swiftly, he transformed his Dire Breidablik into the Sword Breidablik, a weapon that crackled with power. With precise timing, he parried the Fabrication's attack, the clash of metal echoing through the air.
Seizing the opportunity, Kiran launched a swift riposte, his blade slashing at the Fabrication with calculated precision. The enemy staggered, struck by Kiran's fierce assault, and slowly faded away, dissolving into fragments of rock and decaying plant matter.
As the group managed to slay the remaining Fabrications, Lumera, the queen herself, spoke up, her voice filled with pride and admiration. "Well done, Alear, my trusted Stewards, and Kiran," she praised, her words carrying across the battlefield. "Your teamwork and skill have been exemplary thus far."
Alear's heart swelled with a sense of accomplishment, her determination deepening. She knew that their efforts were not in vain, that they were making a difference in this battle against the Fabrications.
Suddenly, Lumera's voice carried through the air once more, filled with a mix of determination and desperation. "Emblem Sigurd, come forth and aid me in battle!" she called out, her voice resonating with power.
A blinding flash of light engulfed both Lumera and Emblem Sigurd, momentarily obscuring their forms. As the radiance slowly faded, Alear's eyes widened in realization. Lumera had not only called upon Emblem Sigurd to fight alongside her, but Lumera had also engaged with Emblem Sigurd, allowing both of them to fight as if they were one being.
And this was evident with Lumera completely changed her appearance. She was now floating in midair with a pair of strangely-shaped golden wings on her back. In her right hand, she holds a spear, which Kiran recognized as a Ridersbane spear, a spear that Kiran knew was used by Heath, the Wandering Knight of the World of Elibe, and Mathilda, the Knight of the Deliverance from the World of Valentia.
Curiosity piqued, Kiran turned to Alear, his gaze searching. "Do you know what Lumera has done?" he inquired, his voice laced with intrigue.
Alear met Kiran's gaze, her expression a mix of awe and understanding. "Lumera has engaged with Emblem Sigurd," she replied, her voice filled with a newfound sense of reverence. "They have merged their powers, fighting together as one."
The weight of this revelation settled upon them, a testament to the unbreakable bond between Lumera and her Emblem. Alear couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement, knowing that her mother, Lumera, now possessed formidable strength on the battlefield.
Lumera, her body pulsating with the power of Emblem Sigurd, charged forward, her grip firm on the Ridersbane spear. With a resolute determination, she aimed for Vander, seeking to strike him down.
In a desperate attempt to defend himself, Vander managed to just barely parry Lumera's fierce attack. The clash of their weapons sent sparks flying, their strength evident in the sheer force of their collision.
As Lumera swiftly retreated a few feet away, Vander let out a groan of pain, his body weary from the intense exchange. Alear, ever attentive to her comrades' well-being, couldn't help but voice her concern. "Vander, are you alright?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine worry.
Vander, his breathing labored, managed to muster a small smile despite his discomfort. "I'm fine... for now," he replied, his words tinged with admiration. "Queen Lumera is strong, especially with the power of Emblem Sigurd empowering her."
Within the recesses of Alear's mind, a voice echoed, familiar yet ethereal. It was Emblem Marth, the embodiment of another powerful emblem. He spoke directly to Alear, his words carrying a sense of wisdom and encouragement. "If Lumera can engage with Emblem Sigurd, so too can you, Alear," he whispered, his voice gentle yet filled with conviction.
Alear's heart swelled with gratitude towards Emblem Marth. She realized that she too possessed the potential to tap into the immense power of Emblem Marth, a power that could change the tides of battle. Silently, she thanked her newfound ally.
With unwavering determination, Alear raised her left hand, adorned with the Ring of the Hero-King. As she grasped the ring tightly, she chanted with resolve, her voice echoing through her mind and the battlefield. "Emblem, Engage!" she called out, her words infused with a potent energy.
A surge of power coursed through Alear's body, electrifying her senses. She could feel the essence of Emblem Marth intertwining with her own, their strengths merging into a formidable force. Alear's eyes gleamed with newfound determination as she floated into the air, as she was now prepared to unleash her enhanced abilities upon the enemy. Even Alear's appearance has changed, with her clothes becoming a composite of that of herself and Emblem Marth's.
Lumera, her voice filled with genuine admiration, congratulated Alear on her successful engagement with Emblem Marth. "Well done, Alear," she praised, her eyes shining with respect.
The moment of celebration, however, was abruptly interrupted as Lumera swiftly lunged at Alear, her Ridersbane spear poised to strike. Alear instinctively raised her own weapon to defend herself, the clash of their Emblem-empowered Divine Dragons reverberating through the air.
Kiran, ever the observant Summoner, watched in awe as the two empowered warriors clashed. The true power of the Emblem Rings unfolded before his eyes, showcasing the might and skill they granted to their wielders. He couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through his veins, knowing that he played a crucial role in bringing these heroes together.
His gaze shifted to his own weapon, the Sword Breidablik. As he reverted it back to its original form, Dire Breidablik, Kiran muttered to himself. "Even if I can't engage with the Heroes I summon, as the Summoner, I possess an ability that no Emblem Ring can replicate," he whispered, a glimmer of determination in his eyes.
In the midst of the intense battle, Alear managed to fend off Lumera's relentless assault. She turned to Kiran, her eyes filled with conviction. "Summon your Hero, Kiran," she urged, her voice firm. "Now is the time to unleash the power of our combined forces."
Lumera nodded in agreement, her confidence evident. "You have the ability to bring forth a Hero who can turn the tide of this battle in your favor," She affirmed, her voice resolute. "Trust in your instincts and summon the one who will aid you in this mock battle."
Kiran closed his eyes, shutting out the chaos of the battlefield. He focused his mind, delving into the depths of his knowledge and experience. The weight of his decision hung heavily upon him as he contemplated which Hero to summon, knowing that their arrival would shape the outcome of this pivotal clash.
With a deep breath, Kiran opened his eyes, his determination solidified. He channeled his energy, calling upon the Hero who he believed would be the beacon of hope in this dire situation. The summoning ritual began, the air crackling with anticipation as the Hero's presence materialized.
At the outskirts of the Kingdom of Askr, Fjorm, Sigurd, Deirdre, Ethlyn, and Quan stood in awe, their gazes fixed upon the majestic Elyos Outrealm Gate. Its pulsating energy filled the air, casting an otherworldly glow upon their faces.
Sigurd, his instincts tingling with urgency, turned to face his companions. His voice carried a sense of determination. "I can feel it," he declared, his eyes focused. "Kiran is in danger, and he specifically reached out to me for help."
Deirdre, Ethlyn, Quan, and Fjorm exchanged concerned glances, realizing the gravity of the situation. They knew that if Kiran, their trusted Summoner and ally, was in peril, immediate action was necessary.
Without hesitation, Sigurd took a step towards the pulsating gateway, his hand reaching out to touch its shimmering borders. In an instant, he vanished from Askr, leaving his companions behind.
Ethlyn turned to Fjorm, her voice filled with urgency. "Fjorm, you must return to Askr Castle and inform Alfonse, Sharena, and Commander Anna of what has transpired," she instructed, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Fjorm nodded solemnly, her determination unwavering. "I understand," she replied, her voice steady. "I will make haste and deliver the message. We must gather all the aid we can for Kiran and Sigurd."
Quan, his face etched with concern, placed a hand on Fjorm's shoulder. "We will wait here at the Outrealm Gate," he assured her. "For Sigurd's return and to lend our strength when the time comes."
Deirdre, her eyes filled with worry, clasped her hands together in prayer. "May the gods watch over Sigurd and guide him in his mission," she whispered, her voice carrying a fervent hope. "May he find the strength to overcome any danger that awaits Kiran."
With a final nod of understanding, Fjorm turned and began her journey back to Askr Castle, her heart heavy with worry for their Summoner and friend. The fate of their world hung in the balance, and they all knew that time was of the essence.
As the remaining companions stood vigil by the pulsating Outrealm Gate, their minds filled with thoughts of Kiran and Sigurd's safety. They could only hope and pray that their combined efforts would be enough to ensure their return, and that they would emerge victorious from the trials that awaited them in the unknown realm beyond.
Kiran stood in the grand courtyard of Lythos Castle, his mind filled with a sense of urgency. He closed his eyes, seeking solace in the quiet of his own thoughts. And then, he heard it—the voice of Sigurd resonating deep within his mind.
In Kiran's mindscape, a vision of Sigurd materialized before him, his presence emanating strength and determination. "Kiran," he spoke with unwavering resolve, "I have arrived. Summon me, and I will lend you my aid. Together, we shall face any battle that lies before us."
Kiran's eyes snapped open, a surge of energy coursing through his veins. His entire body began to glow with an intense red light, captivating the attention of everyone present in the courtyard. The three Stewards, Lumera, and even Alear himself, all stood frozen in awe, their eyes fixed upon Kiran's radiant glow.
Lumera, her voice tinged with astonishment, broke the silence. "Oh my," she whispered, her gaze unwavering. "Kiran, what is happening to you?"
Alear, his expression a mixture of curiosity and admiration, took a step closer. "This power... it is unlike anything we have witnessed before," She mused, her voice filled with wonder. "Kiran, you possess an extraordinary gift, a gift that not even the Emblem Rings can truly replicate."
The courtyard of Lythos Castle was bathed in an ethereal glow, as the Breidablik, a relic of incredible power, hummed with energy. Kiran, the summoner, held the sacred weapon aloft, its tip pulsating with a vibrant red light. With a resolute voice, he began to chant the ancient incantation.
"Gathering wishes on the Holy Knight whose tragic death opened the path of peace!" Kiran's words echoed through the air, carrying a weight of remembrance and hope. "Become the path its light shines upon!"
As the last syllable left his lips, the Breidablik unleashed a potent force, propelling a Red Orb through the air. The orb soared gracefully before descending upon the courtyard grounds, illuminating the entire area in a brilliant, otherworldly light. Clanne, Framme, and Vander, three of Kiran's allies, stood frozen in awe, their eyes wide with astonishment. Even Alear herself, who is currently engaged with Emblem Marth, couldn't believe what she was witnessing.
Kiran, his voice filled with determination, continued to channel the power of the Breidablik. "Hero Summon! I summon forth Sigurd, the Holy Knight!"
The radiant light began to fade, revealing a horseback-riding figure standing in the courtyard. It was Sigurd, the legendary knight, manifested into reality. He stood tall and noble, the embodiment of the duchy of Chalphy and the bloodline of the crusader Baldr. With a voice that carried both strength and gentleness, he spoke to Kiran.
"I am Sigurd, the Holy Knight," he declared, his presence commanding respect. "Kiran, I have answered your summons, and I am ready to assist you in this battle."
Lumera, currently engaged with Emblem Sigurd, watched in disbelief as Kiran managed to summon Sigurd as a Hero before her eyes. She had previously seen Kiran with a Hero version of Marth on his side, but to Lumera, it was the first time that she witnessed Kiran perform his Hero Summon.
"Incredible," Lumera muttered. "Well done, Kiran. You managed to summon the real Sigurd himself as a Hero. You are truly the Summoner of Zenith."
And then, a voice echoed within Lumera's mind. It was Emblem Sigurd, the essence of the fallen knight himself, speaking directly to her. "Even I couldn't believe that Kiran managed to summon my true self," he admitted, his tone tinged with a mixture of surprise and admiration. "This mock battle will be one for the ages."
Lumera's heart swelled with a newfound hope. She knew that with Kiran and his ability to summon Heroes at their side, they stood a chance against Fell Dragon Sombron and his followers. Together, they would forge a path toward victory, guided by the radiant light that had descended upon the Lythos Castle courtyard.
And then, Lumera, her Ridersbane spear gleaming in the air, positioned herself for battle. With unwavering determination in her eyes, she addressed Sigurd, her voice filled with resolve.
"I will not hold back," Lumera declared, her grip tightening on her weapon.
Sigurd, ever the noble knight, nodded in agreement, his gaze steady. "Nor shall I," he replied, his voice carrying the weight of his own determination. "Let us clash our weapons, Lumera."
Without hesitation, Lumera propelled herself forward, her movements swift and agile. Her spear aimed with precision, she sought to strike Sigurd with all her might. But Sigurd, a seasoned warrior, was prepared for her attack. He deftly maneuvered his Divine Tyrfing, skillfully parrying Lumera's lance strike.
Their weapons were locked in a fierce clash, the sound of metal ringing through the air. At that moment, Sigurd heard a voice, a familiar presence that resonated from within Lumera herself. It was Emblem Sigurd, the essence of the fallen knight, speaking directly to him. "It is an honor to clash weapons with you, Sigurd," Emblem Sigurd proclaimed, his voice filled with reverence. "You are my basis, the true Sigurd."
Sigurd, taken aback by the unexpected encounter, couldn't help but offer a compliment in return. "And you, Emblem Sigurd, embody the essence of courage and valor," he acknowledged, his respect evident in his tone. As their weapons disengaged, both Sigurd and Lumera stepped back, readying themselves for another clash.
Meanwhile, Kiran, the mastermind behind their strategies, stood in awe, marveling at the power and skill displayed by his summoned Sigurd. Under his breath, Kiran muttered with a mix of pride and confidence. "I have granted Sigurd the skills Atk/Def Clash 4, A/D Near Trace 3, Atk Def Menace, and the Glimmer Special," he revealed, his voice filled with certainty. "With these skills, victory is all but assured."
The battlefield crackled with anticipation as Lumera and Sigurd prepared for another round. The clash of their weapons echoed through the air, a testament to their unwavering resolve. With each strike, they pushed themselves to their limits, driven by a shared purpose – to bring peace and salvation to their war-torn world.
As Kiran observed their intense battle, his heart swelled with pride and hope. He knew that with their combined strength and the skills he had bestowed upon Sigurd, they had a fighting chance against the encroaching darkness. With the outcome of the mock battle hung in the balance, and with Lumera and Sigurd leading the charge, he dared to believe that victory was within their grasp.
Meanwhile, Alear, her body infused with the essence of Emblem Marth, floated in midair, her eyes wide with awe as she watched her mother, Lumera, clash against Kiran's summoned Sigurd. The sheer power and skill displayed in their battle left her breathless.
Vander, ever the observant companion, approached Alear and shared in her amazement. "Kiran continues to surprise us with each battle," he remarked, his voice filled with a mix of admiration and astonishment.
Alear nodded, her gaze still fixed on the intense clash before her. "Indeed," she replied, her voice filled with wonder. "To witness the Hero and the Emblem-empowered Lumera engage in such a fierce duel, it's truly a sight to behold."
Clanne, never one to stay silent, spoke up, his tone filled with curiosity. "Not only did Kiran summon Marth, but now Sigurd as well," he mused, his words laced with intrigue. "His ability to summon such legendary Heroes is truly remarkable."
Framme, always fascinated by Kiran's abilities, chimed in, her voice filled with admiration. "Kiran's power to summon Heroes from different realms and eras will never cease to amaze me," she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Alear smiled, a sense of gratitude filling her heart. "We are fortunate to have Kiran as our ally and friend," she admitted, her voice tinged with warmth. "With his guidance and the strength of the Heroes he summons, we have a fighting chance against the encroaching darkness."
As the battle raged on, Alear couldn't help but feel a surge of determination within her. She knew that, with the combined forces of Lumera, Emblem Marth, and Kiran's ability to summon Heroes, they had the power to overcome any obstacle that stood in their way. Together, they would strive to bring light and hope to Elyos and even to Zenith.
As Alear watched her mother and Kiran's Sigurd continue their fierce duel, she couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and hope. With their unwavering resolve and the bonds they had forged, they would face any challenge that lay ahead.
In the midst of the chaos and uncertainty, Alear knew one thing for certain – as long as they had Kiran by their side, they would never be alone in their battle for the safety of Elyos. And with each passing moment, their trust in their ally and friend grew stronger, fueling their determination to protect all they held dear.
Back at the battle, Sigurd's sword clashed against Lumera's Ridersbane spear, the sound of steel meeting steel echoing through the battlefield. With a swift motion, Sigurd managed to parry Lumera's attack, catching her off-guard. A surge of confidence rushed through him, knowing he had an opening.
Raising his Divine Tyrfing high, Sigurd felt the power of Glimmer surge through him. The air crackled with anticipation as he declared, "Here I come! One strike will decide it all!" His voice carried with it a mix of determination and excitement.
In a blur of motion, Sigurd dashed towards Lumera, his sword slashing through the air with blinding speed. Each strike was precise and calculated, fueled by the activation of his Glimmer special skill. The blows landed, one after another, striking Lumera with a force that sent shockwaves through her body.
Pain seared through Lumera as Sigurd's relentless assault continued. She gasped for breath, her body trembling as she struggled to maintain her composure. Floating in the air, she found it increasingly difficult to maintain her balance, the weight of her injuries weighing her down.
Through gritted teeth, Lumera managed to speak, her voice filled with both admiration and defeat. Sensing that her bond with Emblem Sigurd running dry, Lumera reverted back to her normal form and floated down into the ground.
Alear herself followed suit and reverted back to her normal form. She then helped her mother, Lumera, stand up to her feet. Despite being injured by Kiran's Sigurd, Lumera still managed to speak to Alear, Vander, Clanne, Framme, and even to Kiran and his Sigurd.
"You all have bested me in this mock battle," Lumera conceded, her words directed towards Alear, her three Stewards, and especially Kiran and his summoned Sigurd. "You all have done well, and I am proud of your strength and skill."
"You have my gratitude," Kiran's Sigurd replied. "It is an honor to clash weapons with Emblem Sigurd himself."
The Ring of the Holy Knight that was in Lumera's possession glowed in an ethereal blue, and within it, Emblem Sigurd spoke to Kiran's Sigurd, "Likewise, it is an honor to face you, my true basis, in combat."
Kiran then spoke up, and he addressed his Sigurd, "Thank you, Sigurd."
"It's alright, Kiran. Every Hero back in Askr is worried about you, but as long as you remain resolute, the Heroes that you've formed a contract with will answer to your summons," Kiran's Sigurd replied as he faded away, returning to the mystical confines of the Breidablik.
Then, Clanne approached Lumera, a concerned expression on his face, as he handed her two Vulneraries. "Here, Lumera," he said gently. "These should help you recover from the battle."
Lumera took the Vulneraries gratefully, nodding her thanks. She quickly drank them, feeling the healing effects coursing through her body. With renewed vigor, she stood up and addressed the group with a smile.
"Alear, Vander, Clanne, Framme, and Kiran," Lumera began, her voice filled with admiration. "You all did a remarkable job in taking me and Emblem Sigurd down in battle. Your teamwork, skill, and determination were truly incredible."
Alear couldn't help but feel a surge of pride at Lumera's words. She stepped forward, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Lumera," she said, her voice strong and sincere. "Your guidance and training have been invaluable. We couldn't have achieved this victory without your support."
Framme, always one to wear her emotions on her sleeve, couldn't contain her excitement. "Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with awe. "Can you believe it? We faced Queen Lumera herself, and we won! This is incredible!"
Clanne, still in a state of shock, chimed in. "I... I can't believe it," he stammered, his voice filled with disbelief. "We actually managed to defeat Lumera. This is beyond anything I could have imagined."
Vander, the ever-observant one, spoke up, his tone filled with pride. "Alear, you are improving with each battle," he said, his voice steady and reassuring. "Your growth as a leader and a warrior is evident. I have no doubt that you will become even stronger."
Kiran, the strategist, added his thoughts to the conversation. "Our victory was only possible because we utilized the power of our Emblems and Heroes," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "When we fight together, we are unstoppable. Alear, your leadership and trust in us made all the difference."
Alear nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with determination. "Yes, Kiran," she said, her voice filled with resolve. "Together, with our Emblems and Heroes, we will continue to face any challenge that comes our way. We will grow stronger, and we will prevail."
Lumera approached Alear, a sense of purpose in her eyes, as she held out a magnificent sword. "Alear, this is Libération," Lumera said, her voice filled with reverence. "It is a sword that can only be wielded by Divine Dragons."
Alear's eyes widened in recognition as she reached out to take the sword. She could feel the power emanating from it, and she knew that this was no ordinary weapon. "Libération," she repeated softly, her voice filled with awe. "I've heard tales of this sword. To think that I now have the honor of wielding it."
Lumera nodded, a smile playing on her lips. "Indeed, Alear," she said, her voice tinged with pride. "You have proven yourself worthy of wielding Libération. It is a symbol of your strength and the trust we have in you."
Alear held the sword tightly, a surge of determination coursing through her veins. "Thank you, Lumera," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "I will use Libération well in the trials that lie ahead. With this sword, I will defend our world with everything I have."
As Alear marveled at the sword in her hands, Lumera reached into her pocket and pulled out a small, ornate ring. She handed it to Alear with a playful smile. "And here," Lumera said, her voice filled with affection, "is a special gift for you."
Alear examined the ring, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Is this an Emblem Ring?" she asked, her voice tinged with excitement.
Lumera chuckled softly, shaking her head. "No, my dear," she explained. "This ring is purely ornamental, a token of promise that I made with you a thousand years ago. It is a birthday present that I wanted to give you, even though your birthday has long since passed."
Kiran watched as Alear's gaze lingered on the ornamental ring in Lumera's hand. He sensed her hesitation and knew there was something troubling her. Before he could say anything, Alear spoke up, her voice filled with uncertainty.
"I... I can't accept the ornamental ring," Alear said, her words tentative. "I can't really remember the promise I made with you, Lumera. It wouldn't feel right to take this gift when I can't even recall the significance behind it."
Lumera's face softened with understanding, and she reached out to gently touch Alear's arm. "I understand, my dear," she said, her voice filled with compassion. "I want you to have the ring when you truly remember the bond we share. It wouldn't be fair to burden you with a promise you can't recall."
Alear nodded, a mixture of relief and sadness in her eyes. "Thank you, Lumera," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "Once my memories return to me fully, then I will gladly accept this ring as a symbol of our connection."
Lumera smiled, her love for Alear shining through her eyes. "I have faith that your memories will come back to you, my dear," she said, her voice filled with hope. "Until then, know that I am here for you, regardless of what you remember or don't remember."
Alear's shoulders relaxed as she took in Lumera's words. She knew that Lumera's love for her was unconditional, even if her memories remained fragmented. "Thank you for understanding, Lumera," Alear said, her voice tinged with emotion. "I appreciate your patience and your unwavering support."
Lumera pulled Alear into a warm embrace, holding her tightly. "You don't need to thank me, Alear," she whispered, her voice filled with love. "I hope one day you can accept me as your mother, just as you did one thousand years ago. But until then, I will be here, guiding you and protecting you, no matter what."
Lumera released Alear from their embrace and turned her attention towards Kiran, a genuine smile gracing her lips. "After witnessing your summoning of the true version of Sigurd as a Hero, I can confidently say that you truly deserve to be the Summoner of Zenith," she said, her voice filled with admiration.
Kiran felt a surge of pride at Lumera's words. He had worked tirelessly to hone his summoning skills and it was gratifying to receive such recognition from the Queen herself. "Thank you, Queen Lumera," he replied, his voice filled with gratitude. "Your words mean a lot to me. I will continue to do my best to protect Elyos and Zenith."
Lumera's eyes sparkled with determination as she spoke, her voice resonating with conviction. "With the power of Emblems and Heroes united, we have the potential to not only save Elyos, but also Zenith itself," she declared.
Alear nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with renewed hope. "I believe in our cause," she said, her voice filled with determination. "Together, we can overcome any obstacles that stand in our way."
As the sun began to set over the majestic Lythos Castle, Lumera sighed softly. "We shall call it a day for now," she said, her voice tinged with exhaustion. "We have much to discuss and plan, but let us reconvene in the morning when we are refreshed."
Alear and Kiran nodded in unison, understanding the need for rest after a long day. "Agreed," Kiran said, his voice filled with anticipation. "We will gather our thoughts and reconvene in the morning to chart our path forward."
Lumera smiled warmly at the two of them, her gaze filled with maternal affection. "Rest well, my dear Alear," she said, her voice gentle. "And you, Kiran, take the time to replenish your energy. We have a great journey ahead of us, and we must be prepared."
With that, they bid each other goodnight and went their separate ways, their minds already buzzing with plans and strategies for the battles that lay ahead. As the night enveloped Lythos Castle, the three of them knew that the dawn would bring fresh opportunities and challenges.
Together, they would face them head-on, united in their purpose to defeat Fell Dragon Sombron and bring peace to both the Worlds of Elyos and Zenith.
End of Chapter
And there you have it! This is the third chapter of Emblems and Heroes!
I admit I got lost in trying to write the fight scene between Kiran's Sigurd and Emblem Sigurd-engaged Lumera. I hope I wrote the fight scene well.
And thanks to you readers, both from this site, even to AO3, and in Discord channels, who helped me write this story.
And here's another extra scene, a Stinger of sorts...
Meanwhile, back in the World of Zenith, the Elyos Outrealm Gate stood tall and imposing, casting a shadow over Quan, Ethlyn, and Deirdre as they waited anxiously for Sigurd's return. The air crackled with anticipation, and they exchanged worried glances, their hearts heavy with concern.
Just then, Fjorm, the Princess of the Kingdom of Nifl, appeared, her presence commanding attention. She approached the group with a determined expression. "Alfonse, Sharena, and Commander Anna will be joining us shortly," she announced, her voice resolute. "We must be ready to share the events that have transpired."
As if responding to Fjorm's words, the Outrealm Gate emitted a soft, ethereal glow, capturing everyone's attention. And then, in a flash of light, Sigurd materialized before them, his weary form now standing tall and resolute.
Relief washed over Deirdre as she stepped forward, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank the gods you've returned safely, Sigurd," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "We waited here, hoping for your safe return."
Quan nodded, his eyes filled with concern. "Indeed, we stood guard at the Outrealm Gate, fearing the worst but praying for your well-being," he confessed, his voice steady with determination.
Ethlyn, always the voice of reason, spoke up, her tone laced with worry. "How is Kiran faring in Elyos?" she questioned, her voice filled with genuine concern.
A small smile tugged at Sigurd's lips as he answered, his voice tinged with reassurance. "Kiran is doing fine," he replied, his gaze distant yet filled with warmth. "He has made new friends in Elyos who are helping him navigate through the challenges he faces."
Fjorm, ever the pillar of strength, chimed in, her voice filled with relief. "I am glad to hear that Kiran is safe and well in Elyos," She said, her eyes scanning the group. "When we meet with Alfonse, Sharena, and Commander Anna, we must report all that has occurred."
Sigurd, Deirdre, Quan, and Ethlyn nodded in agreement, their expressions resolute. They knew that sharing their experiences was crucial in understanding the events that had transpired and ensuring that their allies were well-informed.
As they awaited the arrival of their comrades, the group stood united, ready to recount the trials and triumphs they had faced. As the Elyos Outrealm Gate loomed behind them, a gateway to worlds unknown, they knew that their quest to rescue and assist Kiran himself was far from over.
