A week later, Brooklyn was at his 20th week mark in the pregnancy.

On one night, Brooklyn was out watching a concert. The loud music was really fun to listen to, but it didn't seem that way for his babies. They had been quiet for a good while but had acted up inside him when there were jolts in the music. Their movements were a little more forceful and when it hurt him a bit more, Brooklyn had to force himself to leave.

He then went to a movie theater instead. He watched a movie about a special little kid. He couldn't help but smile at the antics of the family and everything. It was just plain comedy. Brook tried to keep his giggling soft, to not upset the twins further. He had also had popcorn while watching.

Brooklyn knew that if he had been home and the clan had been accepting of his pregnancy, likely he wouldn't be out here having fun right now. He knew he really should be in a safe place, not gallivanting around. But then, he had no mate to order him around and his kids wouldn't be born for a while yet. He just wanted to have fun while he could. At least while the babies were still lighter inside him.

After the movie, he went back to Robbins' house.

Brooklyn told Robbins he was going out every time he went out. The man heard him come in. "Brooklyn, don't you think it's time that you stop going out with your condition? It wouldn't be good for you to be caught." Robbins explained.

"I know, and I am careful out there. I just get a little restless here and have to go out and have some fun. I'm going to be a parent soon and then my focus will be on the twins a lot more. I just want to have fun while I can." Brook explained.

"Have you thought of any names?" Robbins asked.

"No, not yet."

"When do you see the doctor again?"

"Next week." Brook replied. "But it might be the last time I go to the hospital for my exam. My belly is getting too big to be able to fit through the window anymore."

"At five months, I can understand why." Robbins declared.

They sat and talked for a while before dawn. Gilly the dog sat next to him and placed her muzzle near his belly. Brook petted her head. He missed Bronx.

...

The next week, Brooklyn went back to the hospital for another exam.

The twins were looking really big and looked a lot like their father. Brooklyn smiled at seeing them and hearing their hearts on the ultrasound.

Dr. Sato was glad Brooklyn was looking after them so well. He gave him a fresh sonogram to take home afterward.

This was the last time he was coming here. Next time, Sato would like to examine him back at the castle. He had offered encouragement for him to go home and talk to the others. Brook was still sad about that and said he would soon.

Brooklyn soon left the hospital. But he didn't know he had been spotted.

The humans who had been staking out the hospital waiting for him to return saw him and were revving up to recapture their quarry. They followed.

...

Brooklyn soon landed on another rooftop to get a look at his twins. It was a little hard to see them in the dark. Then a voice that he didn't want to hear came out of nowhere, sneaking up on him.

"Hello, Brooklyn." It was a female voice.

It made the red male jump, and he tucked the sonogram picture into his belt. "Demona!" He snapped fiercely but didn't attack her. He put his wings in front of himself.

"I saw you gliding near the hospital and wondered why you were there. I heard from my daughter that you have been missing for some time. They fear you have been captured by some evil humans and here I find you completely fine. Why aren't you with them?" Demona asked smugly.

"I had my reasons for leaving and it's none of your business, Demona!" Brook snapped at her. He wanted to attack her but wouldn't in his condition.

"You always seemed too proud to be Goliath's Second in Command to want to leave that role." The redheaded gargess remarked.

"I am still proud of that role, but my priorities are just different right now. But it's nothing that concerns you!" Brooklyn growled at her. "Just leave me alone. I'll rejoin the clan when I'm ready." He really hoped she wasn't going to attack him. He kept his distance from her.

"How are your priorities different?" she asked.

"I'm not telling you anything." Brooklyn glared at her. He wasn't going to tell her about his unborn twins. He feared what she would do to him or them if she knew of his condition. He would only fight her if he had to.

Demona saw the red male was keeping his distance from her. She knew that he would normally attack her on sight. Something was off about his behavior tonight.

"Just get out of here and leave me alone!" Brooklyn shouted out and turned around and jumped off the roof, trying to get away from her. That was when she saw a little something off even more. Demona saw a little more plumpness to Brooklyn's belly area. He was never a fat one like Broadway was.

Demona stood there, a bit awestruck. She wasn't after him in particular this night. All she knew was that Angela had told her that Brooklyn had been missing for a few months. She had never said she would help look for him, but if she did see him, she was going to talk to him and had been trying to, but he had brushed her off. It was amazing he hadn't attacked her like he usually would.

She jumped off the roof and followed after him to see where he went. He would likely try to hide from her or deter her.

...

Brooklyn just wanted to get far away from his old enemy. She had no business knowing about his kids. He would protect them from his clan and especially her.

But then, the next thing he knew, something sharp came from below and it nailed him right in the left thigh. "AGGGH!" Brook cried out in pain.

A little pain he could handle but when he started feeling the effects of the drug, he knew he had to safely get to a rooftop before going unconscious. Or down to the ground. He flapped his wings to maneuver correctly but he began to lose his wakefulness. He started to fall.

He tried one more time to make a softer landing. He moaned while trying to fight the drug. In his blurry vision, he could make out a mattress lying close to a dumpster. When his mind failed him, he aimed for the mattress and he fell the rest of the way, landing on his right side. It was a hard landing too. This wasn't good but there was nothing Brooklyn could do being drugged. He cried out upon the crash landing.

Brooklyn wasn't entirely out. He was still awake a little bit. He made out some shapes in his blurry vision. He hoped his babies were alright.

The men approached their target. "You shouldn't have darted him in the air, you fool!" The lead man exclaimed, hitting the dart man in the head with his hand.

"You wanted him, didn't you? I got him for ya!" He retorted.

"Never mind. Just get the monster into the truck."

Brooklyn only saw black shadows as the drug finally took its toll on him. He finally passed out. He was lying on the mattress on his right side. He laid on his right wing and his left wing was over his body.

The men moved Brooklyn's left wing out of the way and saw the red male was out. "Is he breathing?"

Lifting one of his hands, a man felt a pulse. "Yes, he's alive and breathing." Came the reply.

"Good. Turn him over. Get him on his back." The leader ordered.

The men turned Brook over. They saw the results of their boss's experiment. "Either this gargoyle has been eating a lot or our experiment worked on him." One of the others proclaimed.

"The experiment was a success!"

Brooklyn's right wing was out of place when they turned him over. The men ignored that but tied his hands together and lifted him up carefully. They carried him to their van and got him inside.

From above, Demona came upon the incident. She saw Brooklyn being loaded into a van and it took off. What could these men want with him? She decided to follow them and then maybe get the clan. There was still lots of night left. She had no idea who these men were. But she would bust Brooklyn out herself if she thought she could. She just wanted to know what they wanted with him first.

...

The van transported Brooklyn over ten miles. It pulled up to a warehouse in the borough of Brooklyn itself. It was in an abandoned part of the city. It was an old doctor's building that was of no use to anyone operating a professional program. But someone clearly was now.

The main doctor and some more men had gotten the radio call that their target was recaptured. He was pleased. The drugs would wear off soon and he was glad they had gotten him here.

The van soon pulled into the warehouse and a gurney was waiting for him. Brooklyn was put onto the gurney and tied down in chains. The doctor now saw his gargoyle. He saw the belly and it looked like his experiment was a success. He smiled in gleeful triumph. Now he just needed the DNA results on these babies, or baby.

There was an elevator that would take them below ground level. It took several men and the gurney down. Then they wheeled Brooklyn into the operating room. The men would now wait for their patient to wake up. The doctor had plans for him while he was awake even though he could have done them better while he was unconscious. He wanted to begin as soon as his prize woke up.

Demona also arrived at the place and started to scope the place out. She knew that perhaps the red male deserved to be tortured or whatever, but her daughter might be proud of her if she found her lost clanmate even though he wasn't her mate.
