Friday the 13th: Julius saves the Day

A/N: That scene in Jason Takes Manhattan with Julius trying to defeat Jason could've gone a different way. A better way.

Julius Samuel Gaw was cornered by Jason Voorhees. He was trapped with him on the roof; the only fire escape available was the same one he used to get away from Jason with…and the serial killer was in front of him, making escape futile. There was no other way to get away from this unstoppable nightmare of murderous intent. No, that wasn't true, and Julius knew it.

There was another way to escape. He just hoped that he was strong enough to grasp it. Taking a new breath to invigorate his newfound conviction, Julius approached Jason with only a little hope of surviving this encounter.

"Use the combos and keep your feet light," he told himself, raising his fists up. "This is it."

He closed the gap between them started wailing on Jason, who didn't even try to defend himself.

"Don't go all in, Julius," he recalls a friend and fellow boxer telling during a practice match. "You don't know what your opponent is capable of, so you hold back. You pull back your punches and kicks, make 'em think you're not worried about retaliation. Make it seem like you're wearing yourself out. Incorporate some drunken-style martial arts into your boxing combos. And when you got your opponent thinking you're unable to throw another punch, that you're exhausted…you let them have it. You throw the final punch that stands between either victory or failure. You do this all…and you're guaranteed a win."

He hoped these lessons would work on someone that was dead. He tried to look as convincingly tiring as possible with each punch he threw at Jason, who staggered backwards as a result of each punch, but still not falling down.

"This method should enable you to prevail against even the most unusual and difficult of adversaries," the man told him. "When they're against the edge, when you have them where you want them, you stop holding back and give them the blow that blows."

Julius holds back as much as he can, knocking Jason to the edge of the roof, fake panting, knuckles looking bloody and bruised from the punches. He has him where he wants him. Deliberately missing him twice, he looks at Jason, who just looks back at him.

"Take your best shot," he told him, "motherfucker."

That's when Jason reached out to grab him.

"Give them a knockout," the man instructed, and Julius ducked and unleashed his truest might in his left hook.

BASH! The punch knocks Jason over the edge, sending him falling down towards the street of open alley.

Crash! He hit the ground, but something happened that nobody anticipated: He made contact with an empty dumpster…and his legs became separated from his waist.

His legs were on the ground and the rest of him had fallen into the dumpster.

Julius looked down at him and couldn't believe that he had survived this encounter with Jason…and caused him to lose his legs. He just couldn't believe that he had gotten away with his life. It didn't feel like a miracle. It felt like a sense of relief had taken hold of him.

"…Where's Julius?" Rennie Wickham asked Sean Robertson as they, Colleen Van Deusen and Charles McCulloch found a police officer that didn't think they were making any of what happened to them earlier up and agreed to help them find Julius.

"We still haven't found him yet," Sean told her.

"Attention, all available units," a female voice said on the police radio, and they were informed of a strange incident that occurred…not far from where they were. "…It doesn't seem like the person that reported this is under the influence, but they claim they fought this maniac and knocked him off a rooftop and into a dumpster."

"That sounds like Julius," Sean states his opinion.

It didn't seem like much of a spectacle, but it was getting the attention of the police because of the subject serial killer that was still active, just incapable of much mobility.

"Jesus Christ," some of the police gasped when they saw Jason's upper body, heavily bound with chains, being moved into a police van with five men armed with shotguns.

"How is he still alive?" One of the spectators questioned as a second gurney holding the severed legs was carted away into a second van; nobody wanted to take any chances with Jason if half of the stories they heard about him were true.

Sean and Rennie couldn't believe that Jason was caught and being taken away by the police. It was like an act of God.

"Your friend here might've gotten a lucky break," a detective told the two teens as Julius was brought over. "Punching a serial maniac off a roof and onto a dumpster and severing his legs is a lucky shot. Lucky all around."

"You actually knocked Jason off a roof and cut his legs off?" Sean asked him.

"I was cornered and had no way of escaping," he explained. "It was either fight or die. I put it all on the line."

"Thank God you got away," Rennie told him, grateful that he was alive.

To be continued…

A/N: Some of us that have seen Julius knock back Jason wished to see him win. Suppose that he did, and maybe, just maybe, he became more than a survivor that night in the city? The next chapter will say for sure. Until it gets written and posted, I hope this chapter will impress you.
