To walk a mile…

Chapter 1

"So, what's Mr. not so jolly green giant doing today?!"

This has been a long time coming, granted, Six eyes did this a lot before Chusi was around. Yet, when she isn't within his line of sight, he tends to go back to his old methods.

"Don't you have better things to do, sorcerer?" Sukuna muttered. He was merely sitting in the communal dining area, just observing everything. For the past few weeks, he has watched the curse wombs all alter into dragons… everyone but Toshi that is.

He hasn't said anything about it, nor does he bring it up when they are brewing. Sukuna has avoided speaking of it, since it would sound as if he is mocking him for the fact that he won't become a dragon. Chusi however, believes he needs to talk to Toshi.

He's dreading the notion.

"Well since your wife… can we really call her that, it's not like you two are hitched or anything!"

"Get to your damn point!" Sukuna snapped at him. "What do you WANT?!"

That damn smirk came over him. "Oh nothing, I'm just killing time!" he said.

"That's not the only thing you are killing…" he muttered.

Six Eyes was about to speak when suddenly. "There's that bastard!"

Shellboy came into the dining area. He went right for Six eyes and started to speak with him. Sukuna took it as a way of escaping and did so in haste.

To avoid Six Eyes, he went to the brewery, he found it strange to find Toshi there. Despite the fact he has still three young children to tend to. "You're rather dedicated to this at the moment…" he said offhandedly.

Toshi said nothing but offered a forced smile.

He was mixing the mash, testing the brew and then planning the next stage. However, this was all busy work.

"We need to talk," Sukuna said.

Toshi paused, his shoulders slumped as he set aside the clipboard he was writing on. "I… I don't blame you," he said meekly.

"You should, at the same time, it was the only thing that could be done to save your life"

He nodded, Toshi turned and looked him in the eyes and said. "I will always be grateful that you did, and yet…" he paused and sighed. "Did you know my brothers are more upset about this than me?"

"I have no doubt of that. They have all been turned, all of them are a dragon I have never heard of before."

It was true, even Lady Tiamat was thrilled at the notion. However, as the brothers altered and turned, they were waiting for Toshi to have his chance. They were encouraging him and stating 'It doesn't hurt, and you awaken a little confused, but it's manageable!'

But, as they gave him words of wisdom, they saw Syrax crying.

After questioning her, she explained that Toshi won't be joining them, he can't due to Sukuna's blood. Instantly, the brothers blamed him for this. Toshi however argued 'had he not done what he did at the time, I would not be standing before you!'

Despite his actions being defended, had he know this was an opportunity… he would have tried to have found another way to save him… right? Then again, Sukuna himself doesn't believe he would have put in that much of an effort in doing so at the time.

"Do you resent me for it?" he asked bluntly. "You are more than welcome to say so, it's not the first time I would have been told such…"

He paused as he heard a gentle whimper. Peering over, he found Toshi shedding tears. "I… I don't… and I know you never meant for this to happen, this wasn't out of spite, it was to save my life!" he protested. "Just because you have no curse energy, doesn't mean the connection we share because of this transfusion is weakened or gone. Everything… you said to me was the truth. It wasn't a half ass apology, you meant it… you have no reason to apologize… Hell, I'm shocked that I even have a wife and three children to call my own!"

Sukuna… oddly enough froze.

He doesn't blame him?

He doesn't resent him for what has happened?

"Why?" Sukuna asked. "I just ruined your life… like many others before you. All have resented me for it, none have forgiven me for what I have done… why should you be any different?"

There was a bewildered look on his face. Toshi stared at him before stating. "Did you know, I would have a dragon for a wife? Did you know the clan was going to attack me with that poison? Did you know my brothers would have an opportunity to join their wives and become such an amazing being?" he asked.

He shook his head. "Who could have seen that coming?"

"Then why are you insisting I blame you for what has happened?" He asked. "Nothing is going to change otherwise, as well, my brothers keep forgetting, had you not done what you did… I would be dead."

This was an odd first for Sukuna.

Normally he is use to those shouting, cursing his name for what he has done to them, but this…

It was rather creepy in his mind.

"Is there anything that can be done?" he asked offhandedly. "Is there still a chance…"

He shook his head. "Only a dragon soul, older than Lady Tiamat could possibly turn me. Since that soul existed before the rule was implemented… I suppose that is call a grandfather clause or something like that…"

"Then it is out of reach,"

"It is," Toshi said and went back to the clipboard. "I… as much as it pains me that I won't be around as long as the brothers… I just hope that I can give my wife and children a good life while I am still in it."

Sukuna… was biting his tongue at this point.

"What? What's with that look?"

Damn, he saw it.

He sighed aloud but smirked. "You are going to think I am insane for suggesting this, however… I can teach you how to turn a part of your body into a curse object."

He froze.

Toshi stared at him, bewildered to what he just said. "Turn me… into a curse object?!" he demanded.

"Only if you need to be turned into one, you can do it yourself and I'll tell you how. It's oddly simple now that I think of it. Chusi can also help you so incase if something DID happen to you, it happens automatically."

Toshi's mouth hung open oddly.

"You may want to close your mouth, you'll catch flies"
