Chapter 1: The Sudden Arrival, A Sudden Love?
A yellow mouse with red circles for cheeks and a lightning bolt to portray as a tail stood by a gray rabbit with enormously large ears watched curiously as two blushing kids stood facing each other on the street by a mountain full of trees. One was a raven-haired boy wearing a red baseball cap and blue short-sleeve jacket over a black t-shirt and denim trousers, The other was a teal-haired pigtail girl with bright pink eyes to the boy's chocolate brown and had a split upside-down blue triangle on her forehead as she wore a greed dress with a gold and black stripe down the middle over a pink shirt and pink puffy trousers. 'Who is this boy?' she wondered.
'Who… is she?' he thought. How did this happen? Let's go back to the morning sun upon a large house on the top of a mountain within the trees. In one room, the teal-haired girl and the rabbit were in a futon. By them was a purple-haired young woman. When the rabbit woke up, it pawed the girl, mewing like a cat. Waking up, the girl saw the rabbit.
"Good morning, Ryo-Ohki," she welcomed. The rabbit happily mewed to the girl awakening. "I suppose you want some of the carrot coins to eat?" Another mew came from Ryo-Ohki. "Okay, I'll also get you some water." She rose from the futon, wearing a pink pajama dress with a carrot printed on it. They made it to the kitchen where the girl brought out carrot coins for Ryo-Ohki in one bowl to have before she filled another bowl full of water. Once Ryo-Ohki was checked, the girl opened the fridge. "Okay, let's see what I can make for Tenchi and the rest." Ryo-Ohki mewed to the girl, thinking it had a suggestion. "No, Ryo-Ohki… Not everyone has carrots for breakfast." Ryo-Ohki whimpered to the denial as a green-haired woman entered the kitchen before it ate the coins, cat fangs instead of rabbit teeth to gnaw.
"Bright and early as always, Sasami?" she greeted. She wore a coral headband while wearing a white sweatshirt and black pants. The teal-haired turned to the green-haired with a smile.
"Good morning, Kiyone," she greeted. "Do you have patrol today?" Kiyone came to a carafe and poured tea.
"Mihoshi and I do. Last time, we found a smuggling ship trying to use the Milky Way backdoor… though Mihoshi nearly squandered the mass arrests and nearly lost us the credentials." Head shaking softly, Sasami sighed.
"I do wish Mihoshi has more than one talent like peeling potatoes perfectly." Just then, a young tanned man entered, his short dark brunette hair tied in a tiny ponytail.
"Morning, Sasami!" he spoke, wearing a whiite polo shirt and dress pants.
"Good morning, Tenchi!" greeted Sasami. "Why are you in your school uniform? I thought school was off."
"Yeah, but Dad wanted to bring me along to work," he informed. "Not to mention that some of my class would be at a nearby joint to review some of the assignments." Kiyone realized what Tenchi had planned.
"A tutoring session?" she guessed.
"Something like that," Tenchi shrugged.
"Well, I'll have to make a smart breakfast for you!" cheered Sasami. She reached for the eggs and some vegetables. The stove was turned on prior when she fed Ryo-Ohki. She grabbed some meat and vegetables before going to work on breakfast, sizzling the meat and chopping up onions before starting on the meat.
"A 'smart' breakfast?" repeated Kiyone.
"I'm not gonna ruin her fun," Tenchi muttered as he itched his head. That's when a tanned blond woman emerged, wearing a pink shirt and white pants. Her hair was in a ponytail.
"What's this about a smart breakfast?" she asked. Tenchi and Kiyone turned to the new blond.
"Morning, Mihoshi," he greeted. "It's… not what you think." Mihoshi mulled.
"Besides, I don't think a smart breakfast would help you much," Kiyone muttered. Mihoshi whined, not liking how it sounded.
"Don't say that, Kiyone!" she cried. About an hour later after breakfast, a spaceship emerged and flew into the sky, Mihoshi and Kiyone inside. In a car was Tenchi and an older man with a pencil mustache and glasses. He wore a polo shirt and looked to Sasami and the purple-haired came to the vehicle. She wore a purple robe with a red sash across the midsection.
"I'm more worried about Ryoko destroying the place than the two of you," the man shrugged.
"I'm certain that we can keep the peace around here, father," the purple-haired promised, sounding rather formal. "We know Tenchi's home won't be touched." Tenchi sighed, sensing a problem with the promise.
"Either way, Ayeka," the father said. "We may not be back until this evening."
"Take care!" wished Sasami. The car drove off with Ayeka and Sasami waiving to them.
" Tenchi and Nobuyuki are off to the city," Ayeka listed. "And Mihoshi and Kiyone are on Galactic patrol."
"I heard that Nobuyuki got a job offer to do architect work in Kushima," Sasami recalled. Ayeka blinked to the information.
"Kushima? Isn't that at the southernmost part of the mainland?" The question made Sasami nod. "How interesting… Hopefully, it's not a summer home." They headed back to the home as a wild bleached teal-haired young woman in a white blouse under a black right shoulder sleeve and an orange shoulder sleeve emerged. Her blouse extended to her shins, her legs wearing red tights that cover her hips to her toes.
"I could take you to Kushima and I take Tenchi to a honeymoon in Sydney," she teased. Gasping, Ayeka and Sasami turned to find the bleached teal-haired.
"Over my dead body, Ryoko!" snapped Ayeka. Ryoko sneered as she levitated down from a meter high.
"Ayeka, I wouldn't kill you before the humiliation," she mocked. "It wouldn't be ladylike." Ayeka steamed at Ryoko's rebuttal.
"You're anything but ladylike!" she argued. Sasami thought to herself for a minute.
"You know, it's possible that it's me and Tenchi who'll be together," she suggested. Ryoko and Ayeka stopped and glared to the little girl.
"Sasami, don't get your hopes up," Ryoko settled. "Besides, I'd be a bigger sister to you than she is right now." She thumbed Ayeka behind her, setting her off again.
"You have no authority to dictate who belongs to who!" she snapped. Someone did come by to break the two apart.
"I can hear you shouting from the other side of the house," an aged man spoke. The girls turned to an elderly gray-haired mustached man in glasses wearing a white robe with blue pants.
"Sorry, Katsuhito," Ayeka apologized. Katsuhito came to the girls, wondering what the ordeal was.
"You three are still at war for my grandson's hand?" he believed.
"Well, Sasami's not what I call 'at war' per say," Ryoko defended. Katsuhito wasn't convinced.
"Sasami, I have no worry about," he murmured. "Ryoko, you could use a little work. I'm refurbishing the training grounds and could use your muscle." Ryoko groaned to the offer.
"Why me?" she complained. "Why not Washu?"
"What I need is muscle, not brain power," Katsuhito clarified. "Come, or I may find a way for you to work without your powers." Ryoko scoffed, thinking Katsuhito was bluffing.
"Like you have the power to do anything," she disbelieved. "Even Ayeka has more power, even without her guardians."
"Not that I don't agree with you, Ryoko," Ayeka doubted. "But Tenchi's grandfather has plenty of power that would end your life." Ryoko shrugged her shoulders, not bothered by what to do.
"Fine, fine…" she surrendered. "I know they help Tenchi's skills." Katsuhito led Ryoko to another part of the large area. Meanwhile, there was a cavern where the boy and the mouse stood with a redhead girl, a tanned brunette young man and a green-haired young woman. In the redhead with a yellow midriff and denim shorts was a spiky top whitish creature wearing an egg with red and blue spots. The brunette had a green traveling vest over an orange t-shirt and brown cargo pants while his hair spiked and his eyes were squinted. The green-haired wore a pink shirt and denim trousers. She held a red/white ball by her face.
"Rhydon, you gave all of us a hard time," she smiled. The others watched on, knowing the events about to happen.
"Who knew that we'd be helping Pietra get a Rhydon that can swim to clear a tunnel for her grandmother," the redhead spoke.
"Heck, it would be a nice surprise if you had that Rhydon battling for you, Misty," the boy brought up.
"I know, right?" agreed Misty. "A Rhydon that knows Surf is an interesting idea." They entered the cavern and faced a huge boulder embedding the entrance. Water seeped from the ceiling.
"Okay, Rhydon," Pietra hoped. "Let's help my grandmother!" She opened the ball and out came a gray rocky rhinoceros standing on its hind legs and had a drill for a nose. Using the drill, the rhinoceros started to break the rock. Water dripped onto its head, but it remained steadfast.
"Graveler, Sandslash and Onix couldn't handle the water dropping on them, but Rhydon's swimming certainly helped," the tanned teen summarized.
"There are some things Pokémon do that amaze us," the raven-haired awed.
"It does make us wonder what else Pokémon learn with special training like with Pikachu and Togepi," Misty added. The mouse and the egg cheered in agreement. Finally, Rhydon destroyed the boulder.
"Alright, we're through!" the tanned teen cheered. Rhydon roared at the accomplishment. The light emerged.
"There's the other side!" gasped Pietra. They started to walk when the mouse felt water drops plop its head, causing him to look up and the boy to notice.
"Pikachu, what's up?" he asked. The mouse kept its eyes on the water still seeping from above, except it was dripping at a faster rate. The tanned teen turned to the boy and Pikachu.
"Ash, come on!" urged Brock. The boy snapped out of his query and focused.
"We're coming, Brock!" he called back. That's when the water stopped dripping and began cascading as the ceiling collapsed. Ash leaped back as the ceiling fell forward on the path and trapped both sides. The rain of rock and water crushed a portion of the wall by Ash and Pikachu. The others were worried about Ash and Pikachu since they couldn't cross.
"Ash!" called out Misty. "Pikachu!"
"Are you okay!?" shouted Pietra.
"Yeah, we're fine!" called back Ash. "I see another way out! We'll meet you there!"
("Don't worry, Togepi!") called out Pikachu. This puzzled the others on the other side.
"Another way?" repeated Pietra. "Like around the mountain?"
"Ash, stay right there!" urged Brock. "Rhydon can get you out!" There was no response as Ash and Pikachu already departed for the other tunnel.
"I understand not wanting to use his Pokémon to reserve their energy, but the least he could do is stay put," Misty mulled. Back at the household, Ayeka and Sasami were hanging clothes to dry on roped lines.
"I do wish that we did this earlier if that washing machine didn't run through the cycle again," Ayeka mulled. Sasami held a navy blue long dress with brown lines at the bottom linen of the skirt.
"Ryoko must have done it again in thinking her nightgown was still soaked," Sasami guessed.
"Well, Ryoko's not as patient to want Tenchi as I am," she muttered. As she got a sheet over the rope, it was suddenly tugged. Ayeka seemed startled before she looked over. Ryo-Ohki looked to be wanting to help the girls out. Ayeka and Sasami were humored to Ryo-Ohki's antic. "You little rascal, wanting to help us out." Ryo-Ohki mewed before they continued to hang up the clothes.
"We're not giving you extra carrots, okay?" advised Sasami. Ryo-Ohki whined about the denial of more carrots. "Besides, it wouldn't be good for your tummy." Ryo-Ohki looked defeated. It leaped up in protest, only to have a small sheet fall on it. Standing on its hind legs, the rabbit looked at the sheet it held. Sasami had an idea. "I know!" She took the sheet before wrapping it around Ryo-Ohki's neck, turning the sheet into a cape. "There…" Ryo-Ohki awed the feel of the fabric on its back. "It's Super Ryo-Ohki!" Ayeka giggled to the girl's play.
"It's already enough for her to transform into a spaceship, and a few other things like a little girl," she enjoyed. Ryo-Ohki leaped up and grabbed the clothesline before swinging around and around on it before flinging herself off. She flew into the trees. Sasami became worried about Ryo-Ohki's vanishing.
"Ryo-Ohki!" she cried as she left to reclaim her.
"Hurry back!" shouted Ayeka. "It's nearing dinnertime!"
"I WILL!" replied Sasami. Meanwhile, Ash and Pikachu were on the road alone.
"Well, that wasn't the shortcut we were looking for," Ash sighed. "Here we were, helping Pietra and now, we're away from her, Misty and Brock. Hopefully, we'll find a place to help us in the right direction."
("And that the others are okay,") Pikachu muttered. Suddenly, its ears perked up. Ash saw it, expecting trouble.
"Now what?" That's when Ryo-Ohki flew out of the trees above, catching Ash and Pikachu's attention. She began to fall, worrying Ash. "Oh no!" He sprinted to where Ryo-Ohki would fall and caught her with outstretched hands and diving. The three rolled once before stopping. Settled, Ryo-Ohki came to her senses and realized that she wasn't hurt. Seeing what he caught, Ash blinked at the mewing rabbit. "Is that a new Pokémon?"
("I don't know,") Pikachu wondered. Ryo-Ohki looked confused to who held her. She leaped down and looked to Ash and Pikachu. Ash dug into his jacket and pulled out a red hand-held device.
"Let's see if Dexter recognizes you," he assumed as plastic flaps opened to reveal a screen and buttons. A question mark emerged on the screen.
"NO DATA," it computed. Ash and Pikachu blinked at the lack of information.
"No data?" repeated Ash.
("Maybe it's not a Pokémon,") believed Pikachu. Ryo-Ohki came to Ash and mewed as a plea to be petted.
"I don't know who or what you are," he started to giggle. "I do know one thing: You're a cute little fuzzball." Ryo-Ohki mewed happily as Ash petted her before she leaped from the street to Ash's free shoulder, nuzzling him. Ash giggled to the tickling of the fur to his skin. "And friendly too! Looks like we have another buddy, Pikachu!"
("Can we keep it?") pleaded Pikachu. Without warning, Ryo-Ohki's ears perked up like Pikachu.
"Ryo-Ohki!" called out Sasami. "Where are you!?" Hearing Sasami, Ryo-Ohki leaped off of Ash's shoulder and to the stairs nearby where Sasami emerged. "There you are! Are you okay?" Ryo-Ohki mewed to Sasami's asking. The rabbit turned to Ash as he looked rather awed to her. Sasami looked to Ash, but froze before she could get a word in. The kids gazed to each other, frozen, unable to react to anything. Pikachu and Ryo-Ohki looked on as Ash and Sasami blushed to each other. 'Who is this boy?' Her mind and heart raced, as did Ash's.
'Who… is she?' he wondered. They stared at each other before Ryo-Ohki loudly mewed. This broke the visual hold between Ash and Sasami.
"Oh, Ryo-Ohki!" she gasped as she knelt to the rabbit and Pikachu. "Sorry about that." Ash realized that Ryo-Ohki had an owner.
"Ah, that happy little guy's yours?" he asked.
"She is." Sasami lifted Ryo-Ohki and turned to her. "Did you come here because you sensed that we had visitors?" Ryo-Ohki itched her ears embarrassingly.
"I don't think she did… and, we did separate from our friends and lost our way." That made Sasami concerned.
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's a bit of a long story." Seeing Ryo-Ohki accepting Sasami, Ash sensed their bond. "That's one cute pet that you have."
"Well, more or less. That is also a bit of a long story. Ryo-Ohki belongs to a friend of mine, but she likes having me taking care of her." Ryo-Ohki mewed to agree, making Ash giggle.
"I see… Well, she's cute and friendly, even if the name doesn't roll off the tongue as Pikachu does." The name made Sasami curious.
"Pikachu?" Ryo-Ohki pointed to Pikachu as Ash held him in his arms.
"My partner, here."
("We go back a long time,") Pikachu squeaked. Sasami reached Pikachu and petted its ears.
"He likes to make friends as much as I do," Ash added. Sasami giggled Pikachu's funny face from the petting.
"You can call me Sasami," she named herself. "Sasami Masaki Jurai."
"And I'm Ash Ketchum," Ash introduced. Sasami had a request.
"Can I hold Pikachu? I want to know how he feels."
"Absolutely!" Releasing Ryo-Ohki, she picked up and hugged Pikachu. Feeling his warmth, Sasami giggled.
"Wow, you're so soft and warm!" This made Pikachu squeal in delight and Ash having a laugh. "Anyway, thank you for taking care of Ryo-Ohki before I came. I hope she wasn't any trouble."
"Nah, no trouble at all! Ryo-Ohki was getting to know us as well and knew Pikachu and I were friendly." Ryo-Ohki mewed happily to the compliment. "See?"
"I do. She gets along with almost everyone, but she's well behaved. It makes me glad she can find friends like Pikachu." Suddenly, a slight roar from Ash's stomach. Ash blushed in embarrassment, laughing to the notice.
"I guess my tank's running on empty." His embarrassed face made Sasami laugh.
"Sure sounds like it!" She then noticed the setting sun. "It is getting late and it'll soon be dinnertime." That's when she had an idea. "Hey, I know! Why don't you and Pikachu come over to my place and join me and my family for dinner?" The invite made Ash and Pikachu perplexed.
"Uh, are you sure? I mean, I'm not one who says no to food, but Pikachu and I don't wanna be a bother or cause any trouble." Desperate, Sasami latched onto Ash's arm with a smile. The latching made Ash blush again.
"Oh, it's no trouble at all! In fact, I really insist that you two come over. You're awfully nice to me and Ryo-Ohki. Besides, you and Pikachu must be really hungry." That's when the stomachs growled, bringing more laughs. "See?"
"Yep… Point taken. Well, if you insist, we're in." Pikachu cheered, also wanting to be fed by Sasami.
"Great! Let's go!" She took a step away from Ash before going back to him, grasping his hand. "My house is just up ahead. I can't wait to introduce you to Tenchi, Ryoko, Ayeka, Washu…" She pulled gently towards the staircase she emerged from with Ash literally in tow and Pikachu and Ryo-Ohki following.
"Whoa, you got a large house for it?"
"You'll see!" As the group started going up the steps, Ash was in for a bigger surprise.
