Ep.0.0
It had been a year after they had defeated the Queen from the dark moon and things seemed to be going back to normal again. Usagi and Minato were barely making it by the last bell before being late. Rei worked at the
shrine and everything else made it seem like their jobs were done. Chibiusa went back to the future with her parents
The girls still hung out together, getting into odd situations and running into life's problems. It was as if nothing could ruin the perfectness of it all.
It was becoming winter and the end of the trimester was in sight, they would be sophomores soon.
They were at the cafe, talking when Makoto had an idea.
(Mokoto) Hey guys, is anybody doing anything for the next few days?
The rest said no, a usual answer because their families and one boyfriend were usually busy and no one had after school clubs or activities.
(Makoto) So I have an idea, why don't we go camping nearby? I'm sure it would nice to get outta the town for a few days to enjoy nature, right?
(Rei) Why not just do it at the temple, it's usually empty and pretty quiet! Plus, I wouldn't count on Usagi to eat all of the food on the first day...
(Usagi) HEY! Although I agree, I wouldn't trust Rei not to start a wildfire in the middle of a forest.
The two started to argue like a pair of children.
(Ami) That's enough you two. Rei, that does sound like a good idea though, I've never been camping before and am a little nervous to try.
The date was set and they all met at the temple.
(Minato) It's freezing out here Rei!
(Rei) Oh c'mon! Just come inside and warm yourself by the fire.
It was three days of the girls just being normal for a change.
Afterwards, the final days of their winter trimester came and went and all five were on winter vacation for now.
No enemies to fight, no people to save, no plans to thwart and no planet to save from disaster. It was like they take a well-deserved break from being the Sailor Guardians
One of the days, Ami brought up something that was one everyone's mind.
(Ami) Doesn't it feels strange?
(Makoto) Yeah, it kinda does. Not doing anything feels... weird.
(Rei) The constant fighting, it was almost everyday, really wore us down.
(Minato) But I'd dunno. I almost find myself missing it. Not every part of it, but just the rush of battle I guess.
(Usagi) Really? I don't. I like it when we're able to forget that we're not normal people and just be normal high school girls like everyone else.
After coming back, everything really was just normal. They lived their lives normally, their biggest worry now was not flunking a class instead of when the next enemy would attack.
One day, while hastily getting ready for school, she overheard her parents watching the news.
Trouble in Paradise
This chilly autumn morning, a flu epidemic has been reported on the sandy shores of Okinawa. Reports are telling of a stronger and more infectious form of the flu.
This new form of the flu has only been reported as of a few days ago, but hundreds of new infections are being reported daily and scientists say that everyone infected should quarantine themselves.
We here are advising that everyone take precautions when leaving home and recommend wearing a face mask to prevent infection.-
Thinking nothing of it Usagi was about to run out of the house before her mother, Ikuko Tsukino, gave her a mask to wear. But not before trying to lecture her on the dangers of airborne illnesses.
The day went normally, everyone was wearing masks, going to work/school, rushing to catch a train, stressing about work projects, visiting family and every other thing you could expect to see on a normal weekday.
But something was off. Just a few people in the crowds were just standing there, looking extremely sick, but not moving, just a blank stare on their faces. While on her way to school, Usagi passed some of these people, they stared at her, even as she got further away, she felt it in the back of her mind. Although, she just brushed it off as some weird people she didn't notice before.
At school, every now and then she would see a student that seemed to be in the same state. Catatonic. It unnerved her, but she really only noticed them when she was switching classes. They would just be staring in front of them with not so much as a blink or a twitch. She noticed them, but it seemed like everyone around them didn't even acknowledge their existence. Although she only saw a few students like this, each one unnerved her a bit more than the last.
Thankfully, after school, she would meet up with the others at the shrine. To unfortunately go with the unnerving atmosphere, it had begun to get cloudy outside. Usagi began to worry that Rei would cancel their study session. It was funny to Usagi, usually she dreaded studying, she would just talk to everyone until they forced her to study. But today, she needed to know if they saw this as well.
School ended and walked with Ami, Minato and Makoto to the shrine.
Usagi walked a little faster than the others today without even realizing it until Makoto tapped her shoulder and she jumped.
(Makoto) Woah! Usagi, you okay? You looked like someone had jumped out of a bush and scared you.
(Usagi) I need to talk to everyone about something I saw today. I'm gonna call Mamo so he can hear this too.
A while later, everyone, including Mamoru were in the room at the Shrine usually dedicated as a study room.
(Rei) Okay, we're all here so spill it Usagi, what is it you wanted to tell us?
(Mamoru) Yeah, you sounded serious on the phone.
(Usagi) Something is wrong with the people here.
(Rei) What do you even mean by that?
(Usagi) Have any of you seen anything out of the ordinary recently?
Everyone shook their heads except for Rei. She slowly started to speak
(Rei) Define out of the ordinary...
(Usagi) This morning, while I was going to school, there were people just randomly about. They weren't moving at all. It barely looked like they were breathing. I accidentally passed one of these people, they looked . . . dead. Their eyes were foggy and I could hear them breathing heavy. When I went past one of them, their head snapped in my direction, as if they were trying to sense me. Does that make sense for out of the ordinary?
Rei suddenly looked paler and her eyes contracted. She was afraid of something, very afraid.
(Rei) Usagi, if you are kidding, I will never allow you t come back here!
(Usagi) How would I be joking after what I just told you!?
(Rei) BECAUSE HALF OF THE STUDENTS AT MY SCHOOL MATCH THAT DESCRIPTION!
After she had said that, everyone else began to feel nervous. Each of them, including Mamoru, wondered "How could I have missed something like that?".
Rei seemed burnt out and scared after her outburst.
(Rei) Just walking through the halls, I could feel them. Their eyes staring right through me... ALL DAY...
(Rei) Ami, you're related to a doctor. Do you have any idea what this is?
Ami looked squirmish, being put into the spotlight like that. After a few seconds, she quietly muttered just loud enough for everyone to hear
(Ami) I have no idea what this is...or what it could be.
Suddenly, Usagi stood up. Taking a serious but comforting tone.
(Usagi) Everyone, go home for the night, if you don't feel safe enough to walk home, I'll bring you home with me. Mamo can also take you home in his car. But for the future, be cautious of your surroundings and stay safe. Try not to drag attention to yourself though.
Everyone said their goodbyes. Usagi brought Ami with her since she didn't want to be alone for the time being. Mamoru to Minato and Makoto home as a safety precaution.
The next day, the plan was to meet back up at the shrine and talk again. This time, everyone will have seen them too.
The Next Day
After everyone arrived, they talked about where they had seen them.
-At school
-At the train station
-In their neighborhood
-On the university campus
-Near the Shrine
The same thing happened today except everyone left early to get home before dark.
To everyone's horror, they could still be seen in the late evening, in the same places as before.
Usagi tried asking her parents and her brother Shingo about it, but they thought she was trying to scare them.
Ami asked her mom in hypotheticals about what she had really seen. Her mother then told her that it would be pretty scary to see at night.
Ami hid her tears because that's exactly what she felt, FEAR.
After a few days of going about their days then meeting, they couldn't take it anymore. They cried in each other's arms because nobody believed them, but those "things" were really out there.
The things they were seeing were somehow only something they could see, it was like a curse had been placed on them.
