Ruby Rose: Huntress of Fenrir

An: So, I got back into God Eater 2 Rage Burst, and I found myself thinking of this crossover. Since it was bothering me, I decided to at least write a prologue, but with how I can't seem to stop playing GE2RB, I might find myself writing more in this. But please, read, review, and enjoy!

Disclaimer: I don't own RWBY or God Eater.

Prologue

She ran. As fast as she could to reach the top of the CCT. She didn't have time to worry about anything else. Pyrrha was in danger. She had to save her. For Jaune. Nothing else mattered at the moment!

Ruby jumped over the edge and landed on the top, just in time to see Cinder Fall shoot an arrow into Pyrrha's chest. She gasped in pain as she tried to take a breath, but they only came out in shallow gasps. Ruby stared at her friend in horror as Cinder started walking towards her.

'N-No…No way…' Ruby thought as she watched someone she had thought of as a friend closing in on Pyrrha for the final blow. 'T-This isn't real…This can't be real…!'

'Someone…Anyone…Please stop this! Please tell me this isn't real!'

Just then, as Cinder reached out to Pyrrha, the sky literally opened up! They all looked up to see a pair of malevolent red eyes staring down at them. Ruby gasped in fear, her eyes suddenly beginning to burn intensely. Cinder stared up at the being in horrified shock.

"WHAT?!" she screamed. The being didn't acknowledge them as suddenly a forceful gale swept the three up towards the tear in the sky. Ruby gasped again and tried to find something to hold onto, but she was nowhere near anything. She screamed as Cinder, Pyrrha, and herself were dragged up into the dark abyss above them.

The last thing Ruby saw before she lost consciousness was a bright light flooding her vision…

Her vision was blurry. She couldn't see well; the world felt like it was tilting like that old carnival ride. Everything was fading from light to dark so fast she had trouble comprehending what she was seeing. Waking up was hard. Her eyes burned, and she wasn't sure why. She was soaked by rainfall, but for some reason it didn't feel like normal water…

When her vision cleared slightly, it only made her wish she couldn't see. Monsters that looked nothing like Grimm, charging and attacking people. Red rain pelted the ground as the village around them was destroyed. Fires dancing across building as people screamed in terror and pain, unwilling to leave their burning homes, but not wanting to die by the flames.

She remembered fighting the strange creatures, but her beloved Crescent Rose did no damage to them. And when it did, the wounds healed up! She desperately tried to fight, the stinging in her eyes made it difficult. She remembered a monster with white fur charge her, making her bring Crescent Rose up in defense, but the massive monster destroyed her beloved scythe and slammed into her chest. She gasped in pain as she was thrown into a wall, destroying it easily.

She saw Cinder, fighting the monsters. She flung fireball after fireball at them, charging them with glass-like swords, but she was overwhelmed by a giant one, which easily bit into her shoulder, making her cry out in pain. Another giant monster entered Ruby's sight, and it proceeded to bite her around the middle. She screamed in pain as she frantically called upon her Aura. It did little to help her as the monster's teeth sunk deeper into her.

She saw another heading to an old shed, where Pyrrha was resting. More joined it soon after.

'This can't be happening! This can't be happening!' she wanted to cry, but her stinging eyes seemed to prevent it.

Suddenly, the burn in her eyes intensified again. She cried out in pain as light blinded her, and she fell unconscious again…

When she woke up, she found herself buried under some rubble, deep wounds at her side, and being rescued by some military organization. She sat watching the unknown military cleaning up the site, removing the dead, and usuring wounded into makeshift tents for treatment. She gazed down desolately at her calloused, blood-stained hands, wondering how everything went wrong.

"The civilians said they had you to thank for saving them," a voice called out, startling Ruby from her dark thoughts. Looking up, she saw a man with dark hair and eyes gazing down at her. He wore the typical military getup and had a large, red metal band around his wrist. But what really caught Ruby's attention was the MASSIVE sword he held. Her eyes widened sheer awe at it, which the man noticed.

"Interested in my God Arc, huh?" he chuckled, making her blush.

"S-Sorry," she mumbled. "I…I just really like weapons, is all…"

"Don't sweat it, kid. I wanted to thank you for risking your life to save these people. What you did took great courage."

"H-Huh? O-Oh! I-It's nothing! Really!" she replied with a wave. "Besides, I didn't do squat to those things!"

"True, but you held off multiple Aragami, under threat of red rain, and still managed to come out with only some scars and not get infected by the black plague? Kid, if that's your definition of 'nothing,' then I want to be there for what you'd call 'something.' Sounds like it'd be a great party!" the man commented. Ruby blushed again.

She was about to ask about all that he just said, but he beat her to it and continued, "But seriously, kid, you did something good out there. Don't let anyone else tell you differently."

"S-Sure!" Ruby told him, her blush getting darker. The man chuckled at her.

"Now that that's out of the way, I got a proposition for you." Ruby looked at him in confusion. "Fenrir could benefit from talent like yours. You got skill; that's obvious considering what I've been told and the fact you held off multiple high-level Aragami, and are still alive to talk about it. What you lacked, however, was a proper armament to deal damage to them. With Fenrir, by becoming a God Eater, you'll get that and more." He smirked at her.

"Interested?"

2 years later

Ruby stared up at the device hanging above her. Anxiety bubbled up in her chest, but she quickly stomped it out. There was no going back now.

Today, two years of training and waiting would finally bear fruit.

"Please, try and relax," the voice of Rachel Claudius came from the intercom in the room. "After all, you were chosen to be here." The floor beside her opened as a large coffin-like container rose up beside her. "I shall now test your God Arc compatibility and your potential to join the Anti-Aragami Punitive Force: The God Eaters." The coffin opened and turned to lay parallel to Ruby, revealing a giant short sword, a God Arc.

Excitement and fear burned through her bloodstream as she reached out with her right hand, grasping the hilt. "I say 'test,' but please, don't concern yourself with such words," Rachel continued. "All will be well, I assure you." Flesh-like tendrils sprouted out from the Armlet halves, wrapping around her as the black and red metal bands moved to lock around her arm, just above her wrist. "The Restless God already knows all about your nascent potential…Hehehe!" The machine above her head opened, producing a spinning drill type tool. Ruby gulped. This was it.

"I wish you, the best of luck!" Rachel called out as the drill slammed down on the Armlet. Ruby screamed in absolute agony as the Armlet began to release a black mist from the drill's impact. She gripped her arm in a futile attempt to stave off the pain. Her blood felt as if it was boiling inside her veins as she held the God Arc in a death grip. The pain intensified, and Ruby instantly rolled off the table, taking the God Arc with her to the floor. She cried out in pain as she folded at her waist, trying to ease the pain.

Meanwhile, in another room, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman wearing a purple dress and a black veil sat in her wheelchair, observing Ruby from a monitor. A young blonde-haired man with grey eyes wearing a purple cardigan over a white dress shirt, a half-length sleeve coat over that, and dress slacks walked up behind her. "Incompatible?" he asked.

"Not this one," Rachel Claudius said in a sing song tone. "Look closely."

In the lab, Ruby slammed the God Arc into the ground as she steadied herself. Panting heavily, she stood, her legs shaking from the pain as she leaned against the massive weapon for support. Ruby's breathing slowed, and the pain started to subside. She looked up resolutely.

Back with Rachel, she giggled in delight. "She shows the same spirit you did after your baptism, Julius," the researcher commented. Turning on the intercom, Rachel said, "Congratulations. You have risen where others would fall. You have become…a God Eater."

Ruby stood tall as she listened to Dr. Rachel, the God Arc, her God Arc, held securely and proudly in her right hand. "Soon, the power that sings through your veins will be awakened. You will be welcomed into our elite special forces, the Blood unit," Rachel continued. "Blood are my chosen soldiers. Superior to all other God Eaters. My finest warriors will herald a new dawn for all humankind. For now, rest. You must recover your full strength. I expect great things…"

Ruby held up her God Arc, examining it in wonder, memorizing every curve, every gear, screw, and mechanism it had to offer. She reached the blade and saw her reflection in the polished steel. She paused and sighed.

Ruby felt the conflicting emotions course through her as they did every time she stared at her eyes. The effects of whatever happened during her entry to Earth and the ensuing fight right after had left their marks on her, as the shiny, cerulean blue eyes (the same eyes as her father, Taiyang Xiao Long) attested to. However, knowing she couldn't dwell on the matter, her eyes narrowed in resolve as she swung her God Arc down.

She had hit a few bumps, but Ruby Rose would not let that drag her down.

For she was a Huntress, a warrior dedicated to protecting the innocent.

And now…she was an elite soldier, capable of devouring gods…

A God Eater.

Prologue…Complete! Next chapter: 1-Whetstone

An: I hope this has caught your attention. Why is Ruby's eyes blue, instead of silver? Well, I have a reason, and I won't spoil it. I will say, though, that I wanted to do something different from the norm of Ruby losing her eye like other stories tend to do.
