Based in season 2 I do not own Lab Rats or any of it's characters

Enjoy!(:

Pale sunlight streamed onto the cement marble floor of the lab. It came from the non-moving exhaust fan on the left wall being the only indicator it was morning. That is until their capsules woke them up.

Adam stretched as he made a content sound and rubbed his face. It was somewhere between autumn and winter outside but the lab was very warm, and the sunlight coming in was rare and so nice.

Bree ran her hands through her hair with a soft yawn and her sleeve covered hands rubbing her own arms.

Chase in the middle remained asleep.

"Aaaalright everybody let's go get some breakfast.", Adam said with another long stretch. Bree laughed quietly at that as she nodded and they both stepped out of their capsules.

They got halfway acrossed the floor before realizing Chase wasn't with them.

Turning around they found him still asleep.

"Guess he slept through the alarm.", Bree said with a shrug.

Adam walked to his capsule knocking on the glass not too harshly. His usual rash hyper behavior being gentled by the dazy morning.

"Chase.", he said receiving nothing.

"Hmm.", said Adam slightly perplexed.

"Morning.", said a sleepy Davenport walking in with a mug of steamy java.

"Morning Mr. Davenport.", they responded in unison.

"What's with sleeping beauty?", Davenport asked.

They shrugged.

"Guess he's not done sleeping.", Adam said simply.

Davenport rubbed his tight fresh eyes and found a place to set his coffee. He typed things into the desk in front of the capsules. "Well I'm not surprised he's tired. Looks like he didn't enter his capsule until almost 4:26am and judging by the amount of progress on the telluride telemetry module I'm guessing that's why. His body is also pretty exhausted, must've been the mission yesterday morning. We never did get to go over it, how'd it go?".

Adam rubbed the back of his neck raising his shoulders slightly as he did so, trying to recount the previous day's events. "Well we passed security with the badges you gave us and we got to the keypad thing and Chase pressed a bunch of buttons but he said something about a firewall and an alarm started goin off and anyway I was playing a game I like to call which guard can I throw the farthest and I don't know what else was happening.", he said as he looked at Bree to finish.

"I tyed ten up in less than a minute, new personal record.", she said with a half cocky smile.

"What was Chase doing during all that time?", asked Mr. Davenport.

"He was fighting the rest off I guess.", replied Bree.

"How many?", he continued.

"I dunno 10 or 20. They had a ITALICS lot of security guards.", said Adam.

Davenport sighed and weaved his fingers through his bedhead. "Listen you guys have to remember that Chase's main addition to the team is his smarts and strategic analysis. His other abilities are helpful in combat of course but it isn't nearly as easy as it is for you two. Imagine you had to fight those guards without super strength, or your super speed and also having to make the decisions of what to do next and how to solve the problem with whatever scientific thing-a-mo-bob is threatening civilization.".

Bree and Adam looked at each other with mixed thoughts.

"I guess I could be taking it easier on him too. But when I'm behind or busy it's just too easy to ask him to pick up the slack.", said Mr. Davenport throwing up his hands subtly.

"At least it's Saturday, we can let him sleep as long as he wants.", said Adam not having anything better he could think of to say. A guilty hand subconciously fiddling with his opposite elbow.

Davenport nodded. "Yeah.", he croaked with tired unenthusiasm.

Just then Chase opened his capsule door. They all watched surprised as he scratched his torso and started walking right past them toward the elevator, his bloodshot eyes only half open.

"Chase.", Mr. Davenport said gently.

Chase turned to them and straightened up immediately, rubbing his eye with his palm. "Oh hey. Morning.".

"You know you can go back to sleep if you want.", said Davenport.

Chase cocked his head very slightly like he sometimes did. "Uh no thanks. I have to finish the mission reports and get back to work on that module.".

"But why don't you just shut your eyes for a little longer, it's Saturday.", started Bree.

"Because there's just too much-", he paused as he subtly wrung his fingertips through his ruffled tufts. "Theres just too much stuff to do.", he said in a sigh as he turned to leave.

"If his anxiety was so prevalent that it woke him up he wouldn't have been able to go back to sleep anyway.", said Davenport shaking his head.

"What should we do?", asked Bree for the both of them.

Davenport shrugged with his eyebrows creased with worry.

Chase stepped out of the elevator as he went into the kitchen. He opened the fridge only to wince slightly and shut it.

"Aren't you going to eat anything?", asked Tasha walking in with a big smile.

"Oh uh no I'm not really hungry.", he told the truth. He just left out that it was because he had no appetite.

"You have to eat something with all those missions and training and things you crazy kids do. Come on I'll make you something.", she replied opening a cabinet searching for breakfast possibilities.

"Tasha I'm really not-", he tried to argue.

"What do you want to eat we have cereal, pancakes, I could make eggs.", she continued like a ringing in his ears.

"I'm just not hungry and-".

"But breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if you don't eat-".

"Tasha! I'm not hungry!", he said frustrated as she stared at him with surprise.

He knew he'd made a mistake but it was too late. His irritable mind was working double overtime and wasn't working at full capacity.

"Chase.", she started as she stepped forward slowly. "What's going on sweetheart?", she said softly cupping her motherly hand on his right cheek. She saw the distress in his eyes.

"I just...", he began before biting back his quivering bottom lip and running his hand through his anxious hair for the billionth time.

Tasha pulled him into a hug letting a tear or two of his stain her blouse. "The fate of the world isn't up to you.", she said gently.

Her maternal warmth was absolutely the most comforted he'd ever felt. His heart beat was heavy and her love and care could be felt through her irises and fingertips.

"School, Donald, the world...they can wait today. What do you want to do?", she asked pulling away to look at him.

Ten minutes later he sat with a book he'd desperately been wanting to read for quite a while. Tasha made them both a hot cup of tea as she quietly cleaned. Whether from the tea or the cleaning the air smelled like lemon and felt slow and soft. Still in the sweats he slept in and a billowy pillow he held to rest his book on, he was quite comfortable. The light coming in was not bright or assaulting to tired eyes. It was tame and subtle. Just enough of it to paint a few golden streaks across the hard wood floor.

His thumb pressed between pages 46 and 47, his warm sock covered feet left where they'd been after unconciously rubbing together in a comfy cricket like manner, the small glaze of a puddle at the bottom of the warm blue mug on the coffee table and finally his coerced eyelids drooped shut by Tashas lullaby of cleaning and care. She smiled softly at her handy work and continued to silently clean.

The smell of something delicious wafted a sleepy mind awake from peaceful dreams. Heavy rain fell softly outside with no hostile wind accompanying. It could be heard landing on the roof and windows like a tranquil melody. Dark grey afternoon rain clouds now covered the sun as Chase let out a warm yawn and a content stretch. Tasha laughed softly at that as she looked at him and he let a laugh go himself, settling into a sweet smile. It whispered a very sincere thank you to her.

"Donalds at work, Bree's at the mall, Adam's at the go-kart track and Leo's at the arcade. They all promised to be back by now for dinner. Want to help me?", she asked.

He nodded. Thankful once again. He knew she'd told him where they were because if they'd been home to see him asleep on the couch he'd have been slightly embarrassed. He didn't make it a habit to show weakness when he could help it, especially not now.

Chase poored banana bread batter into a rectangle pan she handed him and placed it in the oven. He took six plates out of the cabinet as Tasha told him to put them on the counter instead of the table as they were to be eating on the couch with a movie. That sounded so nice he thought to himself. Now that he was rested he felt lighter. Now that she'd put his anxious thoughts to bed. He'd just needed to hear that it wasn't all on his shoulders. That someone was there to take care of him.

A/N: This turned out simpler and shorter than I thought, not that I ever had much of a plan for it but still. I also didn't expect for Tasha to even be in the story let alone to be like the second main character. But it turned out cute don't you think? Never underestimate a mother's tender loving care.
