Okay, so I needed to write something to cope with the absolute travesty that was the Ahsoka finale. Humor me for just a minute. This one *pats chest* is just for me.
"Woah... this is... bizarre", Sabine gasped as she and Ahsoka walked through the World Between Worlds. Ahsoka chuckled at the Mandalorian's awestruck words. "It's not just the place itself, it's what it can show you."
After being stranded on Peridea, the two had immediately began searching the planet for possible clues as to a way to return home without having to wait an indeterminable amount of time for a purrgil pod to come pick them up. Sabine hadn't gotten much sleep in the two weeks since she lost Ezra again, but a least this time she knew where he was. Now all she had to do was find a way to get home.
Suddenly, a strange mist enveloped Sabine, separating her from her Master. "A-Ahsoka!! What's going on?!" There was no response, and Sabine's entire reality became a blinding white before fading into... Ezra's tower. She was in a large soft bed, wearing dark magenta sleepwear.
"What the...?", the Mandalorian asked as she looked around. The tower had been converted into more of a proper home, and she could smell cooking food coming from a separate room. She caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror of an adjoining refresher and saw that her hair was grown out, and no longer dyed. Her natural dark brown was truly a rare sight. Suddenly, there was the sound of a baby crying, which drew Sabine's attention over to a crib in the corner of the room. She nervously stood up and walked over to the bassinet, looking inside to see a baby girl, no more than a month old. The crying infant opened her eyes to reveal that one was golden brown like hers while the other was an oceanic cobalt blue, like... Ezra's.
"How are my two lovely ladies this morning?", a voice came from the doorway. Sabine looked over and saw Ezra, his beard trimmed and his hair done up in a ponytail similar to Kanan's. He was leaning against the doorway and giving Sabine that smile that always warmed her heart.
"E-Ezra... what is this?"
"What're you talking about, 'bine? Did you have another nightmare?" He walked over and tried to hug her, but she stepped back and wrapped her arms around herself. "No... this... this isn't real... I'm not here..."
Ezra frowned and reached out to run his fingers through her long hair. "Hey... listen... sometimes the Force shows us things that we need to see in order to push us forward. I know what that's like." She looked up at him through her teary eyes and tried to look tough.
"I... I don't... I don't understand... is this what could have been? If you hadn't left?", she asked as she looked back down at the baby in the crib. Ezra reached down and scooped up the infant in his arms before smiling at her. "No, Sabine... if you push forward, it's what will be."
"Wait... what? What do you mean? How do you know?!"
The room started going dark, and Ezra simply said "Stay strong, Sabine. May the Force be with you."
"EZRA!!!", Sabine shouted as she jolted upright, still in the World Between Worlds with Ahsoka kneeling beside her. "Sabine!! Are you okay?"
The Mandalorian caught her breath and nodded. "I... I saw something..."
"What was it? A clue to where we should look?"
Sabine shook her head and stood up. "No... but it did tell me why I should keep looking."
