Lucy
It's something they've never discussed before, not when they pretended to be just friends, nor now that they're finally a couple. But there is a fleeting moment after getting married while they are meeting little Lucy -as Donna is holding her in her arms and turns to look at her new husband- that changes everything. Used to communicating without words, through looks that speak volumes, an unspoken confirmation fills the air.
Leaving the clinic, Donna walks slightly ahead of Harvey, trying to hide the tears that threaten to overflow from her eyes. He follows, attempting to catch up with her. He only makes it when Donna crosses the threshold of the front door. Already on the street, he reaches out and gently caresses the bare skin of her back with the backs of his hands.
"Hey..." he calls out to her, and she stops, with a sheepish smile, looking at the ground and still with her back to him. "Are you okay?" he asks.
"Yeah," she softly giggles, relishing in his arms wrapping around her bare shoulders, and he places a kiss on her temple as he pulls her close.
"Sure?" he murmurs, his lips still pressed against her skin.
"Yes, Harvey... Just don't you think it's been too much in such a short time?" she murmurs, turning her head to meet his warm gaze.
"You mean because we just got married?" he asks, his smile too big to contain on his face.
She smiles back, completely in love with him. "Yes, that too," she says, releasing all the pent-up breath from her body, trembling with a mixture of overwhelming emotions.
"Too?" he murmurs against her lips, savoring the moment of having her in his arms.
"Harvey..." she murmurs, closing her eyes for a moment. "Do you truly wanna start a family with me?" she asks, her voice on the verge of breaking, as her hands rest on his chest, feeling the fast beat of his heart. "I mean, beyond just you and me," she clarifies, needing a firm confirmation.
He smiles even wider than before and gently rests his forehead against hers. "With you, I want everything, Donna," he murmurs, and with that answer, she feels herself unraveling in his embrace, craving more of him. "And you?"
She takes a deep breath, attempting to hold back the tears that she knows will eventually come. "There's nothing I want more in the world, Harvey," she sobs, crushing her lips against his, allowing him to hold her and kiss her until she is breathless.
In these last few hours, their life had undergone such profound changes. Yet, they were no strangers to turbulence, and they knew that they would wholeheartedly embrace all the goodness that life had to offer them in this new chapter, as well as the inevitable challenges that would come their way.
