Chapter 3

Kagome listened intently to Yamada's question, her curiosity piqued. "Kids?" she repeated, her voice tinged with curiosity. "Well, I've always been good with kids. I mean, I have a son of my own, and I used to work closely with children when I was a hero. Why do you ask?"

Yamada chuckled, clearly enjoying the suspense. "How about becoming a school nurse or working in a school's health office? Recovery Girl, the school nurse at U.A. High School, where Shota and I teach, has been talking about retiring soon. You could make a difference by taking care of the students' health and well-being. Plus, you'd be back in the school environment, which seems fitting for you."

Kagome paused to consider the idea. It did sound appealing to her. She had always cared deeply about the well-being of others, and helping students stay healthy and safe was an honorable way to make a difference. "That... actually sounds like a great idea," she admitted. "But I'm not sure if I'm qualified for such a position."

Yamada waved away her concerns. "Don't worry about that. I'll talk to Recovery Girl and see if she's serious about retiring. If she is, I'll put in a good word for you. With your experience and caring nature, I'm sure you'd be a perfect fit. Plus, I'd love to have you around the school again."

Kagome couldn't help but smile at Yamada's enthusiasm. It felt good to reconnect with an old friend and to explore the possibility of a new career path. "Thank you, Hizashi. I really appreciate your support and help with this. It means a lot to me."

Yamada grinned back at her through the phone. "Of course, Kagome. Friends look out for each other, right? And who knows, maybe this is the start of a new chapter in your life."

As they continued to chat about their past and their hopes for the future, Kagome couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and optimism. It seemed that, with Yamada's encouragement, she might find a way to make a meaningful impact once again, not just as a hero, but as a caring presence in the lives of students at U.A. High School.

Over the course of their conversation, Kagome and Yamada delved into more memories of their hero days and shared stories about their students at U.A. High School. It was clear that their friendship had endured, even through the years of distance and life changes.

Yamada couldn't help but be proud of Kagome for her resilience and determination. Despite the challenges she had faced, she was now considering a new path that would allow her to contribute to society and find fulfillment once again. He found himself excited at the prospect of working alongside her in the school environment.

As they wrapped up their conversation, Yamada promised to reach out to Recovery Girl and see if there was a genuine opportunity for Kagome to step into the role of school nurse. He also assured her that he would support her in any way he could throughout the process.

Kagome hung up the phone with a renewed sense of purpose. She had taken the first step toward reclaiming her identity and making a difference in the lives of others. The prospect of working at U.A. High School, alongside her dear friends, filled her with a sense of hope and excitement.

Little did Kagome know that this unexpected phone call and the conversation with Yamada would set her on a path she had never imagined. The future held new challenges and opportunities, and Kagome was ready to embrace them with open arms.

The days turned into weeks as Kagome eagerly awaited news from Hizashi Yamada about the possibility of becoming the school nurse at U.A. High School. She spent her time preparing herself mentally for the potential role, brushing up on her medical knowledge, and renewing her certifications. It had been a while since she had worked in a medical capacity, but she was determined to prove herself capable.

Finally, the anticipated call came from Yamada. Kagome's heart raced as she answered, and she couldn't help but hold her breath as he spoke.

"Kagome, good news! Recovery Girl has decided to retire, and she's highly supportive of the idea of you taking over as the school nurse at U.A. High. She even mentioned that she's heard great things about your previous work with children during your hero days."

Kagome let out a sigh of relief, her face breaking into a smile. "That's fantastic news, Hizashi! I can't thank you enough for making this happen. When do I need to start?"

Yamada chuckled on the other end of the line. "Hold on, hold on. There's a bit more to discuss. Recovery Girl wants to meet with you to go over the details and make sure you're the right fit for the position. She's quite protective of the students, you know."

Kagome nodded eagerly. "Of course, I completely understand. When can I meet her?"

"We've scheduled a meeting for next week," Yamada replied. "I'll send you the details, and you can come to the school to meet her. In the meantime, start thinking about how you want to approach the role. It's more than just medical care; it's about being a support system for the students."

Over the next few days, Kagome prepared herself for the meeting with Recovery Girl. She reviewed her medical textbooks, brushed up on first aid procedures, and mentally rehearsed how she would handle different situations. She was determined to prove herself as the best candidate for the job.

When the day of the meeting arrived, Kagome donned her most professional attire and made her way to U.A. High School. The towering building held a mix of nostalgia and excitement for her, as she remembered her own hero training days.

As she entered the school, Yamada was there to greet her and guide her to Recovery Girl's office. The elderly nurse, known for her nurturing yet no-nonsense demeanor, welcomed Kagome warmly but with a scrutinizing eye.

Recovery Girl asked Kagome about her qualifications, her experience with children, and her motivations for taking on the role of school nurse. Kagome answered each question with honesty and conviction, expressing her desire to be a positive influence on the students and help them succeed not only academically but also emotionally.

After a thorough discussion, Recovery Girl nodded in approval. "You have the right attitude, Kagome. I can see you genuinely care about the well-being of the students here. I'll be retiring soon, and I believe you're the right person to take over my responsibilities."

Kagome's heart soared with gratitude. "Thank you, Recovery Girl. I promise to do my best in this role and uphold the standards you've set."

With the approval of Recovery Girl, Kagome's journey into her new career as the school nurse at U.A. High School had officially begun. She couldn't wait to start making a difference in the lives of the students, just as she had always wanted. And with the support of her friends, particularly Hizashi Yamada, she felt more confident than ever about the path she had chosen.
