Midoriya's pov
"First years, these are the rules of the game." Midnight says. "The game itself will last 15 minutes. Individual point values will be added up for your team total. Everyone will know how much you're worth thanks to your headbands. Swipe as many headbands as you can to raise your team's score. Stolen headbands must be worn from the neck up, so the more you steal, the harder it'll be to manage them." Midnight explains.
"You may use your quirks as much as you want. But, there are still rules. Make a team fall on purpose and I'll slap you with a red card. You'll be disqualified!" Midnight says as a timer starts and everyone tries to find a teammate. It doesn't matter how many points my teammates will have since I've got so many. I just need to make sure to pick the right people.
But, no one will probably join me since I have so many points and I'll be the main target! And unlike Todoroki and Kacchan, I didn't use my quirk in the round and no one has any—"Hey, Deku!" I hear Uraraka call me by my nickname. "Let's team up." She says. "Are you sure? Everyone will be after me and my ten million points." I say. "If we run away the whole time, then we'll win, right?" Uraraka asks. "I mean, yeah it could work." I say.
"Besides, it's better to team up with people you like." Uraraka says with a smile. I blush heavily and I try to hide it. "Is something wrong?" Uraraka asks. "No…uh…actually I wanted to team up with you too." I admit. It's smart to communicate with people you know well. "Oh perfect. You're still alone. And you're the star." I hear a female voice behind me. I turn around and the girl gets in my face. "Team up with me, Person in first place!" The girl yells. "Who are you?!" I ask. "I'm in the support course. Name's Mei Hatsume!" Hatsume introduces herself.
"We haven't met, but I like to use your fame to my advantage." Hatsume explains. That's straight forward! "If I team up with you, then I'll be in the spotlight. Part of the team that everyone is keeping their eyes on. That means my babies will inevitably be seen by the big company CEOs who are watching. And following that line of reasoning this is the best way for my—", "Ok ok! You're on the team!" I cut her off to stop her rambling. And I thought my rambling was bad.
Ok, now that I have Hatsume and Uraraka, who should I get next? Maybe Iida? No, he already joined Todoroki's team. I need one more, but everyone else is on a team. Wait, unless…yeah! He can work. I work over to the only person left. "Tokoyami, please join my team." I say. Tokoyami (Quirk: Dark Shadow) looks at and thinks. "I don't know." Tokoyami says. "Please, your quirk can be really useful. Especially against Kacchan." I explain. "…Alright." Tokoyami agrees.
Garou's pov
"Oh goody. It's time to get this party started." Midnight says. "Huh? What?" I ask, waking up from my nap. I got bored while they were making teams and I fell asleep from boredom. "After 15 minutes of picking teammates, 12 teams are prepared to go head to head!" Present Mic announces. About fucking time! I was about to leave because of that wait. The kids get ready to begin the match. "What is Midoriya wearing?" I ask myself as I notice that he's wearing a jetpack, along with his teammates wearing large boots.
"3…2…1! Begin!" Midnight yells as all the teams aim for Midoriya. So they're just going to hang up on him? That's what happens when you give ten million points to one kid. Suddenly, Midoriya's team starts to sink into the ground. It must be someone else's quirk. Midoriya signals one of his teammates and the boots they're all wearing fire them up into the air.
So, that's your plan. Running away. Normally I'd be against it, but in a game like this there's no other option. The other teams try to use projectiles to hit Midoriya from the air, but a massive shadow bird blocks the attack. A sentient quirk? That's something you don't see everyday. Midoriya's team then lands on the ground and they continue to run. The other teams start to target each other. They must've figured out that getting the ten million points will waste time, so they're trying to gather what remaining headband they can get.
Two teams go after Midoriya at both sides and Midoriya's team takes to the air again. However, The Pomeranian, Bakugou, uses his explosions to attack Midoriya in the air. Bakugou tries to attack, but the Shadow Bird blocks the attack and Bakugou falls to the ground. His team catch him before he hits the ground, so he is still in.
Eventually, all the teams attack one another while Midoriya's stays in the air. However, it seems that those rocket boots run out of fuel, because Midoriya's team starts to descend to the ground. They come face to face with Todoroki's team and Todoroki's team immediately charge at them. The Pony Tail girl from the USJ and the Blonde Haired kid use their quirks to distract the other teams as Todoroki uses his ice quirk to stop the other teams in their place.
Todoroki then traps Midoriya's team in a wall of ice to keep them from escaping. Todoroki has a kid with a speed quirk to blitz at Midoriya so they can steal the ten million points. In an effort to get it back, Midoriya powers up his quirk. So, he's finally going to fight. About time. Todoroki uses his fire to block the attack, but Midoriya swings his arm, creating wind pressure to move Todoroki's arm out of the way. Midoriya grabs a headband from Todoroki.
Midoriya's team turn to once again steal points away from Todoroki. With only 5 seconds left, Midoriya and Bakugou jump at Todoroki to steal the headbands. "Time's up!" Present Mic yells. Damn. I thought they would get the headbands. "Now, to see the top 4 teams!" Present Mic yells.
"In first place, Team Todoroki! In second, Team Bakugou! In third, Team Shinso! And fourth, Team Midoriya!" Present Mic yells. Well what do you know? The kid did– "WWWAAAAHHHH!" JESUS! Midoriya cries a geyser of tears. Ok, he has problems. "Next up will be the final round, but first. A quick lunch break!" Present Mic announces. Hm. I am hungry. I get up from my seat and go to get lunch.
A few minutes later in a discrete hallway
Midoriya's pov
Shortly after I got something to eat, Todoroki asked to speak with me in private. I don't know why he wants to meet with me, but I have to know. When we arrive at a hallway without anyone in it, we just stood there for a few seconds before I broke the silence. "You brought me here, now what?" I ask.
"That move you used on me made me use my fire." Todoroki says. "Why does that matter?" I ask. He is silent for a few seconds. "You already know my father is Endeavor, but you probably don't know what he did to me." He says. I am confused.
"Have you ever heard of quirk marriages?" Todoroki asks. What does that have to do… oh god. "My father forced my mother into a quirk marriage in order to create a child with both fire and ice. My siblings ended up as 'failures' until I was born. He forced me to do training everyday and night without rest and isolated me from my siblings. Eventually, he started to neglect them and that neglect led to the death of my older brother, Touya." Todoroki explains. I had no words for what was being told. Did the number 2 hero really do this?
"After Touya died, my mother went into depression and…when I heard her talking on the phone about how my left side reminded her of my father, she saw me and she…poured boiling hot water on my face, leaving this scar you see now." I can't believe what I'm hearing. "Why are you telling me this?" I ask. "Because, I want you to know why I want to beat you." He answers.
"You've got All Might on your corner, so I want to beat you and show Endeavor that I don't need to use his fire to win." Todoroki explains. We hear a horn going off, signaling the Sports Festival starting again. "Try not to lose in your first fight." Todoroki says as he walks off, leaving me with my thoughts.
How could Endeavor do this? Heroes are supposed to protect people and yet he hurts his family. Is it just him, or are there other heroes that abuse their families? I'll think about it when the Sports Festival is over
A few feet away from the conversation
Garou's pov
"Even the number 2 hero is a fraud." I whisper to myself. I had just got some food when I saw both Midoriya and Todoroki going to an empty hallway. Curious, I followed them and heard the entire conversation. To say that I am pissed is an understatement.
What kind of person does that to his own family? Endeavor, when I find you, you're gonna get an even worse fate than the other heroes I've hunted. I heard the horn and went back to my seat to watch. Looks like Midoriya's first fight is with a kid from the support course.
The fight starts, but neither fighter moves. Instead, Midoriya's opponent, Hitoshi Shinso, just kept talking and insulting a friend of Midoriya's. "Tsk, don't you dare—" Midoriya suddenly just stopped. Why did he just…oh that's right. Shinso's quirk is Brainwash, he can control anyone if they respond to him.
"I want you to walk out of the arena." Shinso orders Midoriya. Midoriya did as told and begins walking off the ring. Suddenly, Midoriya stops for a few seconds before somehow powering up his quirk and flicks the ground. The resulting shockwave shook Midoriya out of Shinso's control. "What the hell was that?" I ask myself.
A few seconds ago
Midoriya's pov
Dammit! I forgot his quirk could do this! My body keeps moving on its own nearly to the edge of the ring. I'm sorry All Might. I failed. Suddenly, my body stops and I look in front of me and I see something creepy.
There are 7 shadow-like figures at the entrance and they're looking at me. I suddenly feel One for All powering up in my finger as it flicks, releasing a shockwave and I am knocked out of my hypnosis. This is my chance!
I charge at Shinso and ram my shoulder into his gut. "How did you break free?!" Shinso asks angrily. I don't answer, now aware of how his quirk works. He punches me, but I didn't falter as I manage to throw him over my Shoulder and slam him outside the arena. "Izuku Midoriya is the winner!" Midnight announces as everyone cheers for me.
I make my way to RecoveryGirl's office to patch up my finger. While walking, I realize what would come next. Todoroki is my next opponent, if he wins. I'll just try to beat him, but at the same time I want to help him.
Garou's pov
I'll be damned. The kid actually pulled it off. Midoriya is something special. Just when you think he'll lose, he'll get right back up and fight. Hope you'll get strong enough to become a challenge for me.
The other one on one fights continue on. Though, they aren't anything special. Some are one sided, others last for a good while, and one ended up a tie and got resolved with arm wrestling. Then there was Todoroki. He literally threw a massive ice blast that covered half of the stadium. It is obvious he is taking his anger out on his opponents.
Finally, the fight I've been waiting for finally arrived. Both Todoroki and Midoriya enter the arena. Once Midnight starts the match, Todoroki immediately launches ice at Midoriya. However, Midoriya counters the attack by flicking his middle finger, sending a shockwave that breaks through the ice.
"Wow, Midoriya managed to break Todoroki's insane opening move!" Present mic yells. Todoroki sends ice from his foot at Midoriya again, but Midoriya uses his index finger to break the ice again. "Wow, he did it again!" Todoroki is more powerful, but Midoriya isn't gonna go down. Heh, you're something else kid, OW! Damn broken bones!
Midoriya's pov
I need to keep him away until I can find an opening. "I see you're not going down without a fight. Well, let's continue." Todoroki says as he launches ice at me. "I'll end this quickly." He says. "Smash!" I yell as I used my ring finger to create a shockwave and destroy the ice. But that is what he wants.
Todoroki creates an ice slope and runs on it to attack from above. When he jumps, he tries to slam his fist at me, but I dodge and he hits the ground instead. However, while his hand was on the ground, he launched a massive ice attack at me.
It's too big for just my fingers! I power up my arm and hit the ice, destroying it and sending Todoroki back, but he stops himself before he falls out of bounds. "AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" I scream as my arm breaks from using One for All. Dammit, my arm! I look at my now bruised and broken arm. I was planning to try and use my fingers, but that didn't work out.
"That was much more powerful than your previous attacks." Todoroki says as he gets back up. "I've figured out your strategy. You're trying to keep me away. Smart." Todoroki compliments me.
Damn, it's not just his quirk that is powerful. His judgment, mobility, reasoning, all of his abilities are incredible. I am breathing hard at the moment and Todoroki notices it. "What's the matter? Are you really worn out from my attacks?" He asks to mock me and launches another attack. "I'm not done yet!" I yell as I used my already broken finger to create a shockwave and destroy the ice."You used your broken finger?!" Todoroki yells in shock. "Why are you going this far?!" He asks.
That question reminds me of my new goal for this fight after I ran into Endeavor. Endeavor wanted me to go all out on Todoroki, so that he may become strong like Endeavor. But, Todoroki is not Endeavor and he never will be. That's what I want to tell Todoroki. That his flames are his, not Endeavors.
"Listen, we're all giving it our all. You think you can win with only half of your strength?" I ask as I get ready to continue. "If you want to beat me, you'll have to give me everything you've got!" I yell at him. "What are you trying to do here?" He asks. "You want my fire?!" He asks in an angry tone.
We both charge at each other and I can tell Todoroki is slower because of the frost on his body. He throws his hand at me, but I duck and use a low percentage of my quirk to punch him in the gut. He gets launched back, but not before he freezes my broken arm. "Now that's the kind of action I like to see!" Present Mic yells.
Todoroki gets up and creates a barrier of ice to my left. He rushes me, but I flick another one of my broken fingers and sends him back against the ice. I have to keep going! NO MATTER WHAT!
Garou's pov
Damn, this is brutal. Midoriya and Todoroki have been going at it for a good while. Each time Todoroki attacks, Midoriya would use his quirk to break the ice, but also break his fingers. He's full of adrenaline. Probably doesn't realize how much pain he is in, but those injuries are bad.
Todoroki uses his ice again. I didn't think Midoriya could flick another finger, but he managed to put his broken thumb in mouth to, in a way, flick it and destroy the ice. Heh, the kid is crazy. I like it.
Midoriya's pov
"Listen Todoroki. You aren't going to beat me with only half of your power." I tell him. "You asked why I'm going all out. Well, it's because I want to be a pro!" I yell as I rush him. "Whatever it takes to be a hero!" I yell as I used my head to hit him in the gut, sending him back. "That's why I'll give my all! Just like you should be!" I yell at him.
"You may want to be number 1, but you don't have the right to be number 1 if you aren't even going to use your full power!" I yell again. Todoroki just stands there in shock. And doesn't move for a while. Something is up.
(Flash)
Todoroki's pov
"Blurgh!" I barf after Father hit me in the gut. "Stand up." He orders "If you can get hurt that easily, you can forget about beating All Might or even a small-time villain." Father scolds me.
"Please stop pushing him." My mother pleads. "He is only 5 years old." Mother tries to reason. "Tsk, pathetic." Father says as he leaves me alone with Mother. "I'm sorry Shoto." Mother says she holds me in her arms as I begin to cry.
(Present Day)
I am lost in thought as Midoriya rushes me. I try to prepare another attack, but I can barely move. Why of all times do I have to remember now?!
"Honey, you still want to be a hero, don't you?" I hear the voice of my mother from a distant memory. "Y…yes." I hear my younger self's voice. "Just remember, stay true to yourself. You can be the kind of hero you want to be." She tells me. "That's why I'm going to win this!" Midoriya yells as he uses his quirk to hit me. "I'll surpass you!" He yells again.
(Flash)
I see my siblings, Touya, Fuyumi, and Natsuo, playing a game. I am about to go and play with them when Father grabs my wrist to go through more training again. "Ignore them, Shoto. They live in a different world than the one I'm training you for." He says cruelly as I cry.
(Flash)
I am walking to get some water for the night when I hear Mother on the phone. "I just can't handle it anymore. I can't stay here anymore." She says crying. "And Shoto, each time I look at his left side, I see…him." Mother says. "Mom?" I call to her. She turns to me with a scared look as her tea kettle starts to whistle.
(Flash)
I am outside my room with bandages over my eye as Father walks in. "How dare that woman hurt my masterpiece." He says. "But lucky for us, she'll be in a hospital, so she won't interfere now." He says. "You're the one who pushed her." I says as he looks at me confused. "You're the one that made her hurt me!" I yell with tears in my eyes.
(Present Day)
I will reject you. "It's not his power, it's yours!" Midoriya yells at me. "Your quirk! Not his!" He yells again. "Just remember, stay true to yourself." I hear mother again. "I will." I say as I finally used my fire quirk after so long. "You're helping your opponent. Even though you want to win this battle." I say as I finally figure out Midoriya's plan. "Now which one of us is screwing around." I say as we both smirk at each other.
"SHOTOOO!" Endeavor yells my name. "You finally accepted your purpose!" He yells with delight. "That's it! Very good! This is the dawn of a new era for us!" He yells with a smirk.
I slam my foot into the ground and prepare both my quirks for the final clash as Midoriya powers up his quirk. Even while getting ready for the clash, we still smile at each other. I launch a massive glacier at Midoriya as he jumps over it and begins free falling. Just what I need. I prepare to use my fire to finish the battle as he powers up his remaining arm.
Thank you Midoriya, for reminding me why I wanted to be a hero. I fire my attack as he throws his punch. Before our attacks collide , Cementoss creates walls to try and stop the attacks, but to no avail as the resulting explosion fills the arena with a blinding light.
When the light clears, my shirt is burned and Midoriya has been knocked out of bounds. You know you can't keep going. Just accept it.
Midoriya's pov
My back hits the wall outside of the arena. It's clear that I lost, but at least I could help Todoroki. I collapse to the ground as Midnight announces the winner. "T…the winner…is Shoto Todoroki. She stammers. I simply smile as I lost consciousness. I tried All Might.
Garou's pov
"That…was something." I am shocked. Those kids sure are something else. I am about to continue to watch when I notice something. Oh shit! My hat! My hat got blown off my head from the explosion.
While everyone is unaware, I slip on my hood and made my way towards the entrance. "I have enough info, I have to get back to the shed and get fully healed." I run as fast as I can back to the shack. I eventually make it back, but not without reopening my wounds. It was worth it in order to get out of there before someone saw me.
No one's pov
What Garou didn't know is that he was seen and worse, the hero managed to see the direction Garou went. This is a pro hero who doesn't care if he kills villains or not. His name is Gun Head and he just found a perfect opportunity. "Heh, If I can capture him, I can finally get recognition instead of All Might." Gunhead then went to get others for the eventual encounter.
(Note: The rest of the Sports Festival will still be the same as it is in the show, so I don't need to cover all of it. Anyway, I wanna thank everyone for the support and I will try to upload quicker, but school and football may get in the way of that. But I will still try my best.)
