A Hero's Life Reboot EP 17: The Return of Dr. Animo
I don't own anything except my OCs. Just a little author's note, Zed doesn't exist in this universe, so instead, the welder of the Nemetrix is the Pancunian, who will later be named, Regina, whose name idea came from Enderknight1, a great guy.
In a military base in Russia, everything is normal as the moonlight shines down upon the cold, quiet air. But as a guard was shipping some coffee, an alarm rang, startling him as he glanced at the monitors. He looks at the locked door to hear some noises on the other side as if something broke in! "That's impossible!"
Intro:
The screen is black, only for a bolt of green lightning to make a flash of white light as upbeat music is heard.
Ben stands as he is smirking at the camera as a black with green bubbles background is behind the tween, making the boy raise both his arms, show off his new Omnitrix, and then slap down with a grin, making a flash of light.
"BEN 10!"
"He's a kid and he wants to have fun!"
Upgrade with hands on hips appears as a close-up of his face shows up in the background as a bolt of lightning comes down.
Big Chill flies across and freezes as the same thing happens to Swampfire, leaping out of an explosion.
"But when you need a superhero, he gets the job done!"
"BEN 10!"
Shock Rock smashes his fists together, sending out electricity waves affecting the 4th wall.
"With A device that he wears on his arm."
"He can change his shape and save the world from harm!"
Ben poses with his Omnitrix, just as headshots of Shock Rock, Water Hazard, Big Chill, and Swampfire show up, one-by-one.
Rath was staring at Grey Matter, who hopped along a bunch of platforms with the watch symbol on it while the tiger alien was confused before it turned into rage as he held his head in anger.
"When trouble's taking place."
Ben was then running towards the screen.
"He gets right in its face!"
"BEN 10!"
Humungousaur, Slapback, Fasttrack and Upgrade's headshots show up as well!
A green circuit board background is shown as 5 aliens show up in a row while Ben is staring at the 4th wall as his right side is shown. The aliens are Shock Rock, Fasttrack, Rath, Swampfire, and 4 Slapbacks.
"When lives are on the line."
The same thing happens with his left side as more aliens appear. The aliens are now: Big Chill, Water Hazard, Grey Matter, Humungosaur, and Upgrade, which is still in normal form.
"It's hero time!"
"BEN 10!"
It ends with Ben and Alex, standing side to side with crossed arms and smirks as well as Normie and Madison on Ben's side and Sam and Clover on Alex's side the title appears above.
At sunny Beverly Hills, Ben was on the scene of a crime already as he was in the form of Gravattack, thwarting a bank robbery. "Just remember to keep yourself grounded to Earth, from now on." He quips as he places the floating thieves into the custody of the police. After some thanks are exchanged, he leaves to de-transform as he walks out and dusts his hands off.
"Another day, another bank robbery thwarted." He turned a corner, and he was able to stop and grab a smoothie from his local favorite stand. "Can't believe it's been 2 months since I arrived in this world. I wonder how everyone back in my world is doing?" Ben sadly asks as he can't help but be a little homesick, missing his family and even Gwen, and Grandpa Max, the most.
As he kept slurping down, he was WOOHPED away down a Mailbox, sending him falling onto the couch with the girls, who were covered in garbage. "PHEW! What have you girls been doing? Dumpster diving!?" "Ask Jerry!" Clover bitterly responds as the man speaks.
"Sorry, everyone. But we have a major crisis on our hands." "So, what's the scoop, Jerry? Cause I'm ready for anything!" Ben sips on his Smoothie as the man smirks as he displays the new mission. "Glad to see you haven't lost that adrenaline rush from those bank robbers, Benjamin. Anyway, over the past week, 4 High-security military bases have been hit around the world in different countries. The Nations are already getting suspicious of one another. Meaning if we don't solve this case, they might start to blame each other."
"And just when that whole 'Unity Talk' thing went so well..." Ben comments as he finishes his drink. "So, I guess it's another Save the World mission, huh?" Clover guesses out. "Good guess. Now for the gadgets. Today, you will be having the Flashlight Rings, now equipped with a revelation beam that can reveal things, not to the human eye." Sam whispers to her girlfriends. "Maybe we can use them to figure out what is up with Mandy and her obsession with attention?" They giggle in response.
"Extendable Net Throwing Mascara Rod. Waterproof and can throw a net, 20 yards. Ice Queen Freezing Spray. And Last, The Cat Climb Gloves." He said as he gave the last gadgets to the girls. "One last thing, the Russian military doesn't dress like that." After a quick change of clothes, the 4 were ready for their next mission!
At the Military base, a Helicopter quietly flies above and silently drops the girls off as Grey Matter hides in Alex's hat. The trio hides behind some barrels as guards pass by without noticing. "Ooooh! This place is cold! Why couldn't the thief's next target be in a beach base?" "Really? Have you seen a 'beach base', Alex?" Grey Matter questions out. "I'm just saying." "I'll tap in the security feed to find out what happened!" Sam spoke as she hacked in, displaying a video of a bunch of Ants crawling under the door. "Ants?"
"What are they doing in the middle of the frozen nowhere? Hello! There's no picnic for miles." Clover cries out as Sam responds to her gal pals. "Don't know. But let's find out. They went in there." She gestured to a large door as they went towards it, coming across a keypad as Grey Matter went out. "I'm on it!" He pulled it open as he fiddled with the wires, able to unlock the door as they went inside.
Once inside, the alien times out as they glanced around. "So, what are looking for?" Alex spoke as they explored. "Anything that looks out of place, Ben." The team kept exploring, noticing some missing equipment and machines, when Ben saw something odd. "Hey, remember those weird ants?" "Yeah?" Clover asked out as Ben gestured to a trail of Ants crawling towards behind a desk.
"That's weird. Ants are not affected by cold, unlike other insects. But they're supposed to be hibernating at this time." Sam observes as Ben gets a closer look and notices the desk, checking it out as he pushes it to the side, showing a secret passage. Ben states out. "Well, one way to figure out where they're going." The girls got worried at the thought of bugs.
But as they made their way in, something from the shadows was observing them via hi-tech binoculars. The red-eyed shadow narrowed as he spoke. "The child is on the move. We will follow them from a safe distance, until the time is right, dear friend." Just another shadow stands near the 1st as it was half the size and walks on all 4's and has red glowing eyes with black cat, shaped pupils as they narrowed and growled.
The spies managed to crawl to the other side, appearing in a large tunnel system as the girls sport their winter suits. "Looks like that trail led underground." "Yeah, but what do ants have anything to do with military equipment?" "Hopefully, it's something non-disgusting..." Clover adds out to her best friends as they use the flashlight rings and keep following the trail of ants. After a bit, they managed to turn a corner, only to shine a light on a giant version of an ant! The group was surprised at the being as the ant screeched and fired a ball of flame from its mouth, making the team split to dodge it!
"Okay! This is not normal!" "I'll say! This is the 1st time a bug is trying to squash us!" Alex responds to Clover as Ben stares at the bug and can't help but get a sense of DeJa'Vu. "Why does that thing feel oddly familiar?" "BEN!" Sam cries out as she backflips out of a fireball, only to get pinned down as she struggles with the pinchers with her extending rod.
"Don't worry, Sam! Time to fight fire with Swampfire!" Ben grins out and hits the watch, only to turn into Slapback instead. "Slapback? Fine..." The alien clones himself, rushes up, and tackles the bug out of the way. As 2 Slapbacks pin it down, the girls used their Ice Queen Perfumes to freeze the thing solid, allowing the Slapbacks to slam on it and smash it to tiny bits.
"Wow! Now that was something unexpecting!" Alex cries out. "Still, how did an ant get so big and breathe fire? It doesn't make any sense." Sam ponders, as Slapbacks 1 and 2 notice something as they widen their eyes. "Girls? We got company." "Lots of company." They all noticed they were surrounded by more giant ants, making back to each other as Clover groans out while Slapback duplicates himself into 8. "Bugs…. Why did it have to be bugs?" "I don't suppose you girls have more than enough of that perfume to spray all of them?" He got head shakes in response as Slapback #1 groans. "Great…."
But just then, the ants sensed something and scrambled off as Slapback timed out and fused back into one Ben as the boy pointed out. "That's odd. First, they corner us, then they let us go?" "Freaky! Maybe we should go back to WOOHP? Report our findings to Jerry and he can get some exterminator to take care of those grody ants?" Clover asked out as Ben raised an eyebrow at the retreating monsters.
"Agree!" "Second! Let's go!" Sam spoke out as they went off, but Ben stayed and gazed in their direction. "No, we follow them." "WHAT?!" As Ben took a few steps, he glanced back. "I don't know why, but there's something about those ants that feels oddly familiar. I'm going to investigate! You girls can stay here since you're too grossed out to handle a few bugs." Ben smirks as he keeps going. But the teens were miffed at his comment and quickly ran up to him.
The team follows the trail to see a bunch of ants carrying pieces of large machines down a tunnel. "Why are these ants carrying machinery?" "Maybe to add improvements to their security?" Alex questioned out to Sam as Ben spoke out. "Either way, let's find out!" They all leap onto one of the ants as they ride on top of it. "Hey! It didn't notice." "Of course! Ants do have the ability to lift 10-50 times their body weight. So, a larger version like this can easily lift large objects that weigh tons with ease." The teen redhead answered Ben. "Uh… Sam? I'm going to regret asking this, but how do you know much about Ants?" Clover questions.
Sam got a sheepish expression as she explained. "I reported on them, back in Middle School. But I'm still proud of the 'A' I got!" The 3 others sweat drops. "Sometimes, you're more dweeb than Gwen." Ben deadpans as they made their way out of the tunnels and into a rocky desert as they jumped off onto some for cover.
"A desert? I thought we were in Russia?" Ben asked out as Sam clarified. "Actually, Russia has deserts, there's just not many." "We need to figure out where those ants are going?" Clover spoke out as Ben looked up and looked back with a knowing smile. "I don't know. Maybe we should check out the GIANT-SIZED ANTHILL?!" He points at said towering mountain as the girls are stunned. "Good point..." Alex mumbles out.
Nevertheless, they made their way through the rocks, following the ants until they stopped at an entrance. "No doorbell? No problem! Humungousaur should let us in!" "Hang on! I got an idea. But it's kind of gross." Sam spoke to Ben as she scooped up some green gunk from the ground. Before anyone could say anything, Sam shoved it in Alex's face, coating her in the stuff. "EEEWWW! Sammy! What's the deal?!"
Sam gunk Clover and Ben as she did the same to herself. "It's to help get us in! The ants would attack any intruders on instinct. But if we smell like them, they won't even notice us!" "You better be right, Sam! Or so help me, you are paying for my next 3 salon treatments! And my suit's dry-cleaning bill!" Clover grits out in anger.
They all were in the march as they were near the hole, only for one of the ants to notice them, making them stop and stand still as the bug sniffed them as they held their breaths! But thankfully, the bug merely turns back and enters. "Huh? That worked. But I need a shower after this!" Sam mumbles out to Alex as they enter. "I'm not proud of it, either."
They kept walking as they noticed some larvae. "BLEAGGH! Okay! Now there's one more image I need to get out of my head that can take a while." Clover was grossed out as they kept going in as they made their way to the center, only to be in awe at a towering machine that was the size of the hill! "Whoa! This is way bigger than just pest problems in military bases!" Clover spoke in surprise.
They noticed someone on it as they made their way behind some rocks on a ledge to get a better look. "Yes, my pets! Build! Construct! Grow!" A man spoke out to the ants. As the team got a better look, Ben was completely stunned at the man! The man is an adult with long white hair and green skin that looks like it has never seen the sun and is wearing a dull green lab coat with black fingerless gloves and bits of tech on it as the top of his skull is now removed to show his brain in a glass dome. But the boy recognizes this man as one of his most recurring enemies ever! He was the very first villain he ever faced on his fateful summer trip with the Omnitrix.
"Jeeze! Another freaky, baddie, science geek?" Alex comments as Clover speaks. "Totally! And that outfit is so last century!" "Is anyone else creeped out that he has practically never seen the sun, due to his creepy skin, it's like he never got a tan in his life! And the fact his brain is showing? Totally creepy and yuck!" Alex responds to Sam. "Totes! It's like this guy is a vampire. What do you think, Ben? Ben?" They look over to see him gone! "Wha? Where did—"
"Hey, Animo!" The man glanced back to see Ben with his hands on his hips and a frown. "Ben Tennyson! I should have guessed you would be here as well!" Dr. Animo snarls out at his old foe. "Guessing you got sent to this dimension as well the same way? When Vilgax's cannon malfunction?" Ben spoke as he wiped the gunk off him. The girls were confused as they glanced at each other.
"Clearly. Since I was on the ship as well, only to get sent to another Earth. You know when I first arrived, I thought I was rid of you for good. Able to make a fresh, new start on my plans in this reality! But once the news came out and you were involved, that hope was dashed. But you know, I'm glad you showed up, my boy! So, you can witness my greatest triumph!" "That's what you said about the other times. And they end up failing." Ben mumbles as he glances off.
"By the way, what happened to your head, dude? Freak accident?" "Oh, no, Benjamin! Just as you got a new look, just like your Omnitrix did." The mad doctor glees as he glances at the recalibrated Omnitrix. "And gotten new aliens as well, I too got a new makeover and some upgrades, during my time here! The results were better them I imagined." Animo grins out as he taps his brain dome and gestures to the 2 antennae sticking out.
"Did you know, child? That there are trillions of ants on Earth with species native to every part of the world, but Antarctica?" Ben glances off with a bored look. "Uhh… Kinda?" "The device before you generate a mutagenic pulse! It will turn every single ant on the planet into a giant mutant! With me, Dr. Animo as their king! The world will be my ant farm! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The girls blink in silence at the madman as Alex twirls her finger around her head in response. Ben merely sighs out as he shakes his head. "New world, new people, yet the same old thing with the mutants, Animo? This is just sad." Sam glanced to the side and saw an Ant carrying a particular piece of equipment. "Is that a proton power core?"
Back outside the ant hill, the 2 shadows were observing the footprints left by Ben and the Spies as the four-legged figure sniffs the ground and then grows at the tunnel as the biped shadow narrows his eyes. "Flush him out!" The 2nd shadow roars as it charges into the tunnel, after Ben!
Ben cries back. "Look, Dr. Animo! I admit an army of giant ants is kind of cool! But I'm still going with the usual routine of kicking your butt, like always! And too bad for you, I happen to be with 3 awesome, kick butt, super—" But when Ben glanced back, he noticed the girls were gone. "Umm…. Okay…. Just me is going to stomp on your picnic!" Animo's machine activates as he grins back. "Do your worst, Ben Tennyson. Nothing can stop me!" Ben runs at him, only for the man to slam a button, powering the towering machine up as the roof opens.
Ben quickly turns to his Omnitrix. "Okay! One more time! Come on, Swampfire." FLASH "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Rath roars out, only glaring down at himself. "Let me tell you something, rebooted Omnitrix that still has the habit of turning me into the wrong thing. YOU STILL KEEP TURNING ME INTO THE WRONG THING!" "BEN!" He glances up to see his sister and the others, wrestling with the ant. "Animo!"
"Right!" Rath charges at the mad scientist, only for him to send out waves from his brain. "Come! My ant army! Destroy Ben Tennyson!" Rath leaps up, only to be tackled by an ant! He recovers and dodges some acid attacks, only for 4 more to show up. "As you can see, my upgrades have given me better control than ever before! You might be strong! But in sufficient numbers, ants can bring down any prey!" Rath growls as he charges at them.
POW Rath double hammer slams one and in the middle. "COSMIC DROP!" WHAM Rath then double uppercuts with his claws, sending another flying. "TRANSLYIN DOUBLE UPPER SMASH!" BAM He then made a massive elbow drop on another's head. "TALPAEDAN ELBOW SLAM!" BANG He uppercuts another one as well. "INCURSEAN AMBASSADOR!" SMASH He lastly kicked one in the behind, literally kicking it's butt. "SIRUS BUTT KICKING!"
Rath managed to beat them all, only for more ants to drop on top of him as he held them back. "In just a matter of seconds, you'll be nothing but bones!" Animo grins out. "Oh, yeah?! Well, I think I'm going to—" Rath was cut off when another ant piled up on him. As Rath struggles with an ant, it is suddenly frozen as Rath kicks it off with his legs, sending it on top of another ant, and shatters as Animo gasps.
Sam, holding the core, uses her bungie belt to lasso Rath's arm and pulls him away. "Ben! I managed to get the power core!" "Seriously?! I'm fighting off giant ants and all you can care about is some stupid piece of—" All of a sudden, he times out, making Ben groan at the incoming ants. "Oh, man!" Sam used her freeze spray on one and quickly was tackled by another. The ants all leap at Ben as he slaps down on the watch and the ants all pile up on him. All seemed quiet until a bright green light emerged underneath the pile-up as something blasted out, knocking the ants away.
"WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" CRASH Ben now stands up as a brand-new alien! He is now an alien that greatly resembles a mix between a grasshopper and a praying mantis with significantly large three-jointed hind limbs. He has a green film connected to the tibia and tarsus of his legs. He has green skin, which has a hue similar to Stinkfly, a large, segmented horn on top of his head, and two smaller horns on the sides of his head where the eyes are placed. There are two spikes on each forearm and the back of both tarsi on his legs. He has two sharp fingers, a thumb on each hand, and two light-colored claw-like toes on his feet along with one on the back. His chin is quite small with two lines, he has gill-like structures under his armpits, and his segmented neck extends from a green collar that is fused with the torso. His suit represents green overalls with three black stripes, a green tip, and a white sleeveless shirt underneath. The green stripe on his stomach has a large green hexagonal patch where the Omnitrix symbol is located and a smaller white stripe. He has black fingerless gloves with white wristbands and a green patch on the back.
"Whoa! New alien! Awesome! I wonder what he can do?" "It doesn't matter what you can do!" Ben glances up to see Animo donning a suit of armor, modeled after an ant as he places the helmet on. "Now you face the fury of…. The Ant King!" "The 'Ant King'? Dude, work on the name." Animo then fires 2 flamethrowers as Ben leaps above, only to accidentally hit the ceiling as he digs his head out, noticing the large hole he made. "A bug version of Cannonbolt? This I can work with! And call me, Crashhopper!" He leaps down onto a ledge and then leaps at Animo, head-butting him into the console and then smashing into it. Dr. Animo tries to run away, only for Crashhopper to plant his feet on him and leap off, sending the madman tumbling. "Give up, Animo? Cause I'm having a blast!"
"BEN!" He glances up as he quickly leaps upward, arriving to see the spies surrounded by ants as he crashes down in front. "Ooooh! New alien! Awesome!" "Yeah, but did it have to be a bug?" Clover groans at Alex's comment. Sam calls out as she holds the power core. "I can set this power core to detonate this machine!" "Good idea, Sammy!" Clover winks out. "But it will destroy the Anthill, the ants, us, and several populated areas!" Alex got a worried look as she waved her hands. "No thanks, Sam! I'm fine the way I am: Not blown up!" "Maybe I can adjust it to only target the ants?" "An even better plan!" Crashhopper grins back.
Just then, an elevator got their attention as Animo stepped out. "Curse you, Ben Tennyson! Curse you and your meddling ways!" "…Okay! Did he seriously talk like that?" "Yeah, Clover. He did this kind of thing ever since I was 10." But just before anyone could do anything, a clung got their attention, and they turned to see a large, vicious-looking, growing animal of some kind. It looks like a huge red Smilodon with sharp claws, a tail with a sharp hook at the end of it, razor-sharp sabers, a mane like a dire wolf, and a small horn on the top of the nose. It also has red eyes with black pupils as they are narrowed. But the strange thing is that it's wearing a red and grey spiked collar with a device on it. The device is shaped like a hexagon and is colored red and black. The symbol looks like an open red mouth with white sharp teeth.
"WHOA! Where did that thing come from?!" Clover cries out. " A saber-tooth tiger?! How is that possible!? I thought they were extinct!" Sam was in stunned awe at the creature as Crashhopper raised an eye. "First, giant ants, and now a mutated saber-tooth tiger?! Make up your mind, Animo!" "What?! That's not one of mine…" But just as Animo responds, the being suddenly transformed! It Is now a large, fat, grey, rock-skinned alien. It has purplish-pink spheres all over its body and spikes on its head with the collar around the neck.
They all stare in shock as Alex comments. "I... Don't think that is a saber-tooth tiger." "Oh! But it will soon be! You must obey me…. Destroy Ben Tennyson." Animo tries to control the animal, but to his surprise, it doesn't work as it charges at the group, which splits up. The being smashed into the wall as Animo was knocked amongst the rubble. Crashhopper went on the offensive and leaped at it, only to his surprise to be bounced off it! He tries again with the same results. "Okay! Let's try a double dropkick!" He grins as he leaps up and aims his feet at the head, only for the being to move and catch him in one of its sacks, making him stuck. "What is this?! It's like Stinkfly's goo!"
Unbeknownst to the fighting groups, the biped shadow figure was watching from above in a cave as he narrowed his small red eyes at Crashhopper. As the alien struggles while sinking in, he then thinks of something as he sighs in regret. "As much as it pains me to say this… Girls! I need some help, please!" "Gladly! We'll save the gloating for later." Sam said as she fired her bungie belt while the others did the same, yanking Crashhopper out as he recovered. "Thanks."
Just then, the machine surged red energy as the girls went off to stop it. The alien quickly leaps over the charging monster as he gazes at it. "Hmm… If what Sam said before is right, the ants should attack this intruder." He then notices Animo as he smirks. "Just need to let nature do its thing!" He went over and yanked the helmet off, smashing it on his knee as Animo gasped in shock. The effect was instant as all the ants stopped as they were free from control.
Just as they noticed the monster charging at them, it was dogpiled by the ants, pinning it down. "SAM! NOW!" The other girls nod at Sam, making her push a lever on a control panel. The machine then starts surging energy as random explosions happen on it, just as the ants were affected and blown up, on top of the monster! The machine also shuts down as a result.
The smoke clears up to see the cat thing from before, shaking its head as it holds a paw on it. It then glared at the alien hero and took off as Crashhopper noticed Animo running, only to be caught by 2 nets as the girls leaped down in front. "Well, Animo! Looks like your science project is a flunk!" Alex smirks as the alien times out and he walks over with a grin. "Dude, you just got busted by 3 teen girls! I think you just hit a new low, Animo." "No… No!"
Outside the anthill, the creature looks back and growls as it walks up to its master. The being is an alien humanoid. He has a black suit covering his upper body with a red stripe in the middle and grey pants. He has grey gloves and a grey belt, as well as black boots with grey soles. He wears bones as ornamentation over his clothes, which consists of a ribcage on his chest, a tailbone on his right shoulder, a horned animal skull on his left shoulder, ribs covering the back of his black suit and boots, and claws on his shoes. The only part that is exposed is his face, which is turquoise with a large lower jaw that has teeth fused with his lips, like Detrovites. He has dark red sunken eyes, as well as gills under his cheeks.
"You did good, dear friend. Besides, this was not about ending the hunt so quickly." The pet glances at its master as he explains. "I merely wanted to test the boy. And it seems that the stories and rumors are true: The Omnitrix has returned, at least an alternate-universe version of it. And this boy, this Ben Tennyson. He is quite resourceful for one so young. And only with a year of experience and training. He will make my most prized trophy, someday! Khyber the Huntsman will see to it." His pet agrees as it glances back at the mountain, narrowing its eyes and growls, wanting a rematch with the hero.
Later, after Animo was taken into custody and all the stolen machines returned, the team headed back home by car, only Sam noticed something was wrong with Ben as he gazes to the side in thought. "Something wrong, Ben? You're acting, like, not yourself after beating the baddie." "Maybe he's in thought about Animo? I mean, if your old enemy from another world shows up in your new one, you be like that." Clover adds to Alex, only for Ben to speak out. "Guess you make a point." "It's not Animo. It's that thing that showed up at the end." "You mean that freaky cat thing?" Clover asked out. The boy nods back as he explains.
"That thing just showed up out of nowhere, and yet Animo never made it. If he did, it would have obeyed him, without a doubt. And did you see that thing it transformed into? It was like the perfect creature to fight my new alien! It was like it knew what Crashhopper was going to do before he did it! And after we beat it, it just took off."
"Kevin and his Antitrix are already trouble enough. But this thing, with the ability to turn into strange creatures and monsters? This means a whole new level of freakiness. But from the sounds of it, it sounds like someone is out there to get you, Ben. Someone wants to hunt you down." Sam spoke out as Ben gazed off in worriment.
"But don't worry! You have us! Maddie and Normie! And WOOHP with Jerry to back you!" Alex exclaims to get the boy off his mind as he turns back and smiles. "Totally!
