Aro's POV
We had just managed to get Isabella to bed. It had taken a while, the darling determined to be awake when her little ones arrived, but when Marcus promised to wake her when they made an appearance she'd agreed to rest.
Now we were staring in shock at the state of the small girl Demetri had brought in, blood staining her dress and matting her hair. Caius had her in his arms, gently soothing her while Alec tended to the wounds, and Marcus held the boy as he slept, petting his curls. I was pacing up and down the throne room.
"How will we tell her? She will be so distraught, brothers. These are her children."
Caius huffed, shooing Alec away as soon as the bandage was in place.
"She'll find out eventually. Instead of worrying about how she'll react, let's focus on finding who hurt this little one."
Marie had fallen asleep and seeing this I sighed, sinking into my throne.
"I'll up the guard and assign protectors for the children and Isabella. Brothers, take her her children. I will attend to business."
They left, though Caius watched me closely, eyes narrowed, and as soon as I was alone I stood, growling darkly.
"Felix!"
Felix appeared before me, rigid and emotionless. I snarled lowly, approaching him.
"You let this happen. You fix this. Find who hurt my little Marie and bring him to me."
"As you say."
In the next second Felix was gone.
I gathered myself, unwilling for my sweet Isabella to see me in such a state, and went to her, unsurprised to hear her snapping at my brothers. Caius glared at me as I came in, eyes dark.
"Aro."
"Caius." I turned to Isabella, taking her hands in mine and kissing her tears away tenderly. "My dear, we will find who hurt your child. We will avenge her. Your children are safe. Focus on that, piccolo."
She let out a weak whimper, looking at the small children curled together in the bed.
"Where's Jacob? He was supposed to be with them."
"Jacob? The werewolf?" She nodded and I smiled in an attempt to soothe her nerves. "He is safe. Jane is with him, trying to find out what happened. He will come to you soon enough, unharmed."
"But-"
"Isabella. You need rest, my dear. I promise, everything is okay now. Please, for Marie and Hari. Sleep."
After a moment she nodded, Marcus taking her into his arms and laying down beside the children so she slept on his chest. She settled quite quickly and the moment her breathing slowed Caius was snarling at me.
"Those children are not human, Aro. How do we know we can trust them around Isabella?"
Marcus rumbled lowly.
"Isabella cannot be separated from them. Their bond is stronger than even the one with us. We will ask her when she is stable of their origins."
"Very well."
Despite his cold words I saw Caius's eyes soften as he looked at the children, especially Hari. He sat beside them, tucking the blanket further over their shoulders when he saw them shiver. He may not have known it, but I was sure he would grow to love those children as though they were his own flesh and blood.
Hey guys, sorry for the short chapter but I wanted to at least get something out. The origins of these two darlings will be out in the next chapter which will be out in the next two weeks, as I have college and work and cannot write as often as before. Hope you enjoyed this little filler, and as always R&R. Bye, my lovelies xxxx
